Season 2. Episode 1:
(An alien AI takes over the body of Sam, Conrad must stay strong yet again. Exposing his relationship with his superior might be his only chance of saving her.).
A year ago, a nobody joined the SGC. A marine fell in love with an Air Force Major. Although they are different, they are one. Their relationship remains secret. No one is aware.
04:00. Conrad wakes up and gets out of bed. Getting dressed in his BDU's. He stared into the mirror, fixing his hair. He learnt that Sam loved the TV show MacGyver, the old one.". So, to please her he grew MacGyver's mullet. Combing it he smiled. "Now, that is what I call style." He complimented himself. Grabbing his bike keys, he drove off.
Arriving at base at 04:35 he went through standard protocol. He was greeted by a happy General Hammond. "Conrad, my good nephew, how is it?". Conrad greeted his uncle with a hug. "Uncle George.". They pulled away. Conrad then got a file. Flipping through it he saw it was advancement papers. Conrad then looked up. "What's this?" he asked. Hammond smiled. "You are being given another promotion. Get your uniform.".
Conrad was back in his greens. Sense he was trained as a Marine, he is registered as a Marine. General Hammond then came to him with his case. "Lieutenant Conrad Baird, in honour of our nation, I hereby promote you to captain.". With a smile, Conrad saluted.
He was after the promotion, in the gym. Practicing in the ring by himself. As he did a roundhouse kick a voice from behind came. "You should remove your shirt more often.". Turning around he saw it was Sam. Teasing her he pulled his shirt over his body, a small whine escaping the Major's mouth. He stood inches from her. "You gotta make me first." He teased. Sam then pulled on his collar. "Oh yeah?" she asked. Conrad then smirked. "What will I do without you?" he asked. Kissing her quickly he and Sam went for the briefing room.
General Hammond was giving them their next mission. "A planet has been placed on schedule. We'll send a UAV to investigate now.".
The UAV has been launched and is streaming footage about the planet. "It's a giant computer." Remarked Conrad. The UAV then crashed and the entire base went haywire. Desperately they tried to shut the computers down. Which they succeeded with. Until the computer started spitting words in green.
You dare come to my world?
Sam then typed. We are explores.
I don't believe you.
We didn't meant to harm you.
Prove it.
As Sam started typing, electric charges raced through her body. Making the computer explode. She fell backwards with a *thud*.
Conrad picked her up and raced with her to the infirmary. Sam was unconscious for atleast an hour. Conrad pacing around. Jack flipping a coin. Daniel cleaning his glasses. Teel'c, well, no one was sure what he was doing. Fraiser was at the bed side. She was taking readings. Sam's eyes fluttered open. But they weren't filled with emotion as usual. They were pale, and empty. Conrad came to her and asked. "You okay?".
Sam then wrote on a pad.
You can't stop me that easy.
Conrad knew what it was. The alien AI took over Sam's body. Marching through the door he punched a hole in the door frame. Jack then approached Sam and spoke to Daniel. "Get a computer and a loudspeaker.". Daniel understood and went to get it.
Conrad was frustrated. He was taking his anger out on the punching bags. Punching it so hard the bag ripped and the sand came pouring out. "Five bags." He said. He then heard footsteps behind him. "Captain, may I have a word?". It was the General. Conrad nodded. "Sure.". General Hammond then placed an arm over his nephew's shoulder. "I know how much Major Carter means to you. I really do.". Conrad of course tried to cover the truth. "She's my boss." He said. General Hammond then gave a stone hard stare. "Son, I know you and the Major have a romantic relationship between the two of you.". Conrad stopped. Allowing a tear escape. "How?" he asked. General Hammond smiled. "Family, is my specialty. I knew of the relationship, I was supposed to report it but, I know how you struggle with love, sense your ex abandoned you. I knew you needed it. In this line of work, it's hard to have attachments, which is why I allowed it.". Conrad stopped again. "You can loose your position." He protested. General Hammond laughed. "I am a grandfather with a high cholesterol level, I don't fear a thing.". Conrad corrected him. "You are when we go out there.". General Hammond nodded. "Yes. I do, this base, is like another family, you don't abandon those you love.". Conrad wiped the tears with his hand. "What do I do?" he asked. Hammond breathed. "Keep fighting. She will come back.".
Conrad came into the infirmary. Sam looked at him. You are the one called Captain Conrad Baird. Jack looked at him. "Captain?" he asked. Conrad shrugged. "Got promoted this morning.". He looked at Sam. "The body you invaded is Major Samantha Carter.". Then Sam typed. Then I am- Conrad cuts her off. "No, you, are an invader, leave her body, or suffer the consequences." He threatened. Sam typed. This one is important. You won't harm her, none of you will.
Conrad knew it was right. He will need to fight with a different tactic. And a smart one. He spoke in a low growling tone. "Who are you?" he asked. It answered. I am named AIDEN. Artificial Intelligence Extreme Nero-link. You invaded my world, damaging my home. Conrad then spoke. "Can we fix it?" he asked. It typed. No. Conrad shrugged. "Is there anything we can do to preserve you? Except letting you live in that body?" he asked. It typed again. Yes, you must built me a body, with an unlimited capacity.
Daniel sighed. "That is impossible.". It then typed. Then I remain, in your friend. I learnt everything the vessel knows. Conrad then lend forward. "Prove it." He challenged. It then typed. She means a lot to you. Conrad nodded. "She's my friend.". Jack stepped forward. "And mine.". So did Daniel, and Teel'c, and Fraiser, and Hammond.
An hour later the gate activated. Walter identified the code. "It's Langara sir.". Hammond nodded. "Open the iris.". An man then came out. Daniel greeted him. "Jonas, been some time.". Jonas shook his hand. "Sure was.". He then pulled out a machine. "I heard what happened to Sam, thought I could help." He said. Daniel nodded. "Come on.".
As they entered the infirmary, Jonas saw Conrad. "Who's this?" he asked. Daniel answered. "That is Captain Conrad Baird, he joined the SGC a year ago, he got promoted twice. He skipped the Sergeant rank and got Lieutenant. He was promoted today to Captain.". Jonas then huffed. "Some way of celebrating your promotion.". Daniel chuckled. "He's half alien too. Ever heard of the Cha'tahr?" he asked. Jonas then held his breath. "The Cha'tahr? I thought they were extinct.". Conrad looked at him. "There are others. I was born on this planet. My father is a System Lord.". Jonas was left wordless. "I am speechless.".
It spoke again. You came to remove me. Conrad spoke. "We can save your world. Give us time.". Conrad walked to Daniel and Jonas. "You guys good with computers?" he asked. Both nodded. Conrad spoke. "Good, my computer skills suck. Your with me.".
On the planet, they were wearing space suits. Conrad was following the main wireline. As he was following it, he saw it led to the broken UAV. He showed with his hand at the crash. "Work your magic guys.". Daniel and Jonas got to work. Conrad was starting to worry, but a rattle then made all three men look. Only one thing makes those sounds. "Replicator." Said Daniel. Conrad then took out his P90 and pistol. Jonas grabbed his Shotgun. Daniel planted C4 on the walls.
Conrad held his breath. Their spacesuits had three hours of oxygen left. The replicators came charging at them. The C4 went off, causing a tower to fall on them. More kept coming. Daniel shot rapidly at them. Jonas tried to download the last stream of data. Conrad grabbed one and ripped its legs apart. One jumped onto him. Piercing it's legs through his back. With a grunt he fell backwards with force and crushed the creature. Back on his feet he ordered them to fall back. They ran for it. Through the gate and back into Cheyenne Mountain. Conrad's oxygen rank was leaking. Taking the suit off they could see blood running down his back. Using his healing ability's he healed his wound. Jonas took the drive and plugged it into his laptop. The data was enormous. Reading as fast he could he realized this all was a memory file.
Conrad marched into the infirmary with the urge to strangle his victim. It saw him and tilted his head. It typed. Did you find anything? Conrad then scowled. "We found Replicators! You are their collective!" he accused. Now, Jack was pissed as well. "You dirty piece of technological good for nothing piece of shit!" he insulted. It typed. I must preserve my kind! If I die, so will those on my planet. Conrad then stared with rage. Pulling his pistol out he aimed at It's head.
Jack did the same, but he pointed it at Conrad. "Captain! What are you doing!?". Conrad spoke, in a low, emotionless, dark tone. "If you don't leave this body, I will kill, you. Then I will cut you out, layer by layer, until I find your source, cut it out, and I will! Destroy it.". It was scared. You wouldn't. It said. Conrad then shouted. "Look me in the eye, and tell me I am not bluffing!".
It then typed. You love her. Conrad then cocked his gun. "Yes, I do. Five" he started counting. "Four, three, two, one.". But as he was about to pull the trigger, It got up and ran. In the hallway it started summoning lightning. It was trying to go into the main server. Conrad took his zat gun and shot her once. It looked him dead in the eye and continued. Conrad then spoke softly. "Sam, forgive me." Shooting her again. It fell to the ground. Conrad dropped his weapon, tears came rolling down. Jack was right at his side. "You killed her.".
Without a word he walked away.
General Hammond was on the phone. "I understand sir, the situation is under control. My newest recruit is doing fine.". Conrad then marched in and dropped a paper. "My resignation." He said. Hammond dropped the phone. "You're what?" he asked. Conrad swallowed his sobs. "I joined to save lives, not take them." He said. But then Fraiser came running. "Conrad! She's awake!".
Those words, Conrad ran. Faster then he ever did. Within a second he was at Sam's side. Sam's eyes fluttered open. Her blue eyes meeting his blues. Red within for the sorrow he has felt. The joy for watching his love opening her eyes. It was a mere moment, but it felt like an eternity.
Sam took his hand, held it tight. "I called out, I thought you didn't hear me.". Conrad embraced her. "I did. I am here.". Jack was at the door. Disbelief was filling his mind. He was too late. His fear for breaking rules caused him to loose his shot of being happy. Sighing he left.
