The next day...
With Crystal...
Since she had nothing to do today, she decided that she should go and pay Katie a visit this morning.
Throughout the entire day yesterday, she hadn't called nor texted her best friend. Not during the day, not during the afternoon, nor during the night. It was mainly because of the fact that throughout that entire day, Katie was busy working her very first day at the dentist, working alongside her father. She probably could've during her breaks, but chose not to, since Crystal already was hanging out with her other goth friends at the time. But, since she woke up early enough, she decided to go off to the Morris's Residence to see her best friend before she headed off to work.
Once Crystal arrived at Katie's house, she quickly took notice of her best friend exiting it and heading over to her own mailbox. Instead of her causal outfit, Katie was wearing her own work uniform, which was made up of the white dentist coat her father previously given her days ago, as well as a light blue polo-shirt and black dress-pants. Seeing her best friend in an outfit like this, all Crystal could do was just smile. It felt like just yesterday to her that Katie was talking about her plans after high school, hoping that her father's dentist was the place she ends up working at. To Crystal, time just flies by too fast.
Deciding to finally go up to her, Crystal whistles for Katie's attention as she walked up to the front gate of the yard. "Hey Kate!" She shouted, as the tomboy looked towards her direction. "I was coming to see how the first day went! How'd it go?!"
"Well...what do you think? It was awesome." Katie said happily, all while taking her mail out of her mailbox. "Granted, nothing really too special happened during the shift, but...for me, finally being able to work at my dad's dentist is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me this year, so far. I've been waiting for this moment ever since I was a kid."
Crystal scoffs out a laugh as she rolled her eyes. "Oh Katie...knowing how long we've been friends, I know. You've basically been talking about working at your dad's dentist ever since you were still in elementary school." Katie then giggled to herself, before the rebel continued talking. "I mean...hell, I still remember that you literately almost gotten in trouble during science class because you told the teacher that he had forgotten to floss that day."
"Oh please...he really did. Not to mention, back at our elementary school, science was usually after lunch." The tomboy rolled her eyes as she placed the mail she collected into her coat. "Somehow saying THAT he needed to floss after lunch, completely discredits the fact that I named every type of tooth in the human mouth, that jerk..."
"Well, that bullshit is completely behind us now, Kate. No reason to dwell on it."
"Yeah...you're right."
The two girls took a bit of a pause, before both of them heard the sound of a door opening and closing across the street. The tomboys then turned their heads to see James exiting his house, most likely ready to head off to go do something with either Jenny, Ray, or Raven. Katie just stood there in indifference, as Crystal was glaring at the goth with a look of disgust on her face. It was pretty clear that she still wasn't too thrilled to see James again, especially after their last encounter days ago.
"Great...just the asshole I wanted to end up seeing today..." Crystal mutters, not moving eyes away from the sight of James. "I forgot that loser lives across the street from your house."
"Let me guess, you're still not over that fight that almost broke out between you and him days ago, huh?" Katie asked her.
"I'm over it." Crystal said glancing away from James's house for a second, before looking at it again. "But I'm still not over the fact that he constantly pestering Goth Boy and the other goths to let him hang out with them, throughout the entirety of Senior Year. All that bullshit, just so he'd be cool like the rest of them."
"Didn't you hang out with those goths for the same exact reason?"
"No, I didn't. I hung out with them because I actually do like things like bats, horror movies, and many other goth things that they like." Crystal then points forward at the geeky goth across the street. "That loser doesn't do any of that stuff like we do."
"Well...okay, but...still, don't you think that you're going a little too hard on it. Last time I remember, I don't recall James ever pestering the other goths after I told him off for what he was doing."
Crystal didn't respond to what Katie had told her. All she did was just stare at James's house, watching as the geeky goth was beginning to head over to the sidewalk. James eventually did end up taking notice of her, and just like how she was seeing him, he was anything but pleased seeing her too. He didn't even bother going over to either one of the girls to say 'Hi', he just exited through the front gate of his house and headed off into a different part of the neighborhood.
"Whatever...as long as he's not pestering the goths, I don't need to associate myself with his ass at all." Crystal said, clearly not caring about what Katie had told her seconds ago. She then sighed before looking down at her phone to see what time it was. "Anyways, I wish I could hang out with you some more, but I have to go meet up with Yuki down at the bowling alley this morning. She has the day-off today, so...we both decided that bowling would be what we're doing."
"What about Goth Boy?" Katie asked her. "Now that I think about it, what about that Chaz guy you made me meet two days ago? Why are you not hanging out with either one of them today?"
"Well, Goth Boy tried to get himself a day off from the 'Turkey-on-a-Fork' cart, but...his boss didn't allow him to have one today. As for Chaz...he has a shift down at the auto-shop right now, so...it's just going to be me and Yuki today." Crystal then pointed at the dentist. "I would invite you along, but...I believe the reason why I'm not is quite obvious."
"Yeah, I know..." It was at that moment, Katie decided to give her best friend an optimistic smile. "Don't worry too much about it though. I'm sure a day-off for me is coming soon. Me and you will hang out with each other later on during the week when it comes."
Crystal then smiled, before nodding her head at Katie's comment. "That's nice to hear, dude." The rebel then takes notice of Katie's father exiting the house now, believing that now is a good enough time to leave. "Anyways...I believe that you and your dad should be getting to work now."
Katie looks behind herself, seeing that her father was heading over to the car now. "Oh, yeah. You're right." She then looks at her best friend one last time, before parting her on the side of the arm. "I'll see you later during the week, Crystal. Have fun with Yuki."
"You have fun at your job now, dude."
The tomboyish dentist chuckled hearing that said. "Oh Crystal, I always do." Katie then headed over to her dad's car, all while Crystal began to head off to the bowling alley. The tomboy gotten into the car alongside her dad, and then they headed off to the dentist.
Meanwhile...
With James...
The night prior, he had received a phone call from Jenny asking him to meet up with her at a specific location in the town. She never gave him a reason why, all she told him was that the two of them needed to talk about something. What they needed to talk about he was unsure about, but whatever it is, he could only assume one thing and one thing only, and that thing was that Jenny wanted to talk about the love letter. It wasn't too hard to miss the letter when approaching the door, because he did just leave the note sticking out of the mailbox, visible for anyone to see. He didn't really see what other reason Jenny wanted to talk to him about.
The only other thing that Jenny had told him last night was just to meet her at a location that she was planning on visiting before going to work today. She told him that she would be sitting on the bench that was right across the street from said building when he gets there. She texted him the address of where this building is located so that they can meet up there.
It didn't take too long for James to finally find the building that Jenny wanted him to meet her at. From the looks of the building itself, it was nothing more but a bar. He wasn't sure why, but he felt like the place would've been run-down or abandoned or something like that, but from the looks of it, it seems to not be. It seemed to be the opposite really. James then noticed Jenny sitting on the bench that was right across the street from it, just like she had said. He went over to her then sat down.
"Hey Jenny." James said as he sat down next to his crush.
"James, you made it." Jenny said with a smile. "So glad you could make it."
"Same here, but..." The goth then looked over to the bar that was right across the street from where they were at. "...Why exactly did you want to meet up here? It's a bar. You don't like those kinds of places."
"I know, but this place is...kind of different..." Jenny then looked forward at the bar across the street from her, before letting out a depressed sigh. "With all this talk about The Nightmare Crown, and Morcubus, and everything that had went down back in 2010, I felt like coming here, since...well, this used to be where Evelyn used to work, before...her sacrifice..."
"I didn't expect this place to be where she works."
"Eh, it's not really much." Jenny chuckles to herself, before turning her head towards her friend. "The only things that are really worth doing there are either enjoy some drinks, play at the dart boards, or just use the karaoke machine. Can't say that it's a place that I'd enjoy, but...hey, whenever she worked there, it was an alright place to be."
"Seems like a nice place to hang out..." James said softly to himself.
Both of them were now in complete silence. Noticing this, James was about to ask her about what she needed to show him, however, considering that Jenny was stuck reminiscing about Evelyn still being around town, he felt like he needed to remain silent. He felt like it would be insensitive if he were to ask for what she needed right now. Eventually, Jenny did finally speak up again.
"Hopefully soon, Walker and Ian will think of something in order to get Evelyn out of that Nightmare Realm." Jenny said.
"I hope so too." James said.
"Anyways..." The girl then turned to face James, reaching into her jacket as she did such. "...I bet your wondering what I have discovered last night that I wanted to show you. Right?"
"Uh...yeah. So what is it?"
"Well...this."
Jenny reaches into her jacket, pulling out a piece of paper that was folded. When James unfolded the paper to look at what was on it, his suspicions from earlier had pretty much confirmed to be correct. It really was the letter that he had previously placed inside Jenny's mailbox last night. Then again, he wasn't really surprised by this whatsoever.
"A love letter, eh?" James asked, clearly feigning his surprised expression. "Who on Earth had wrote this to you?"
"To tell you the truth, I don't know. I'm just as surprised by this as you are." Jenny told him all while taking the letter back from him. "Whoever placed this letter in my mailbox last night forgotten to place their name down onto this."
"Well...any ideas?"
"Well..." Jenny chuckles to herself, before placing the note into her jacket. "...If you ask me...I have only one idea who it could've been..."
"Really now?" The geeky goth gave a sheepish smirk for a second, before losing it to ask another thing. "Who do you think it is?"
"To me...it's Rob Jarrett."
"Oh Jenny, you caught..."
Right before James could finish his sentence, he immediately realized that Jenny didn't say that it was him who wrote that love letter to her. He literately just heard her say that it was somehow Rob Jarrett who wrote it to her. He had no idea why'd she even first assume him first, considering that he was friends with her a lot longer than Rob ever had. He honestly couldn't believe that Jenny was really assuming this right now.
"Hold on, Rob Jarrett?!" James asked, now sounding completely shocked and disappointed to hear his name said. "I-I mean...Rob Jarrett? What makes you think that it's him? For a moment, I thought you would assume me first." He asked a little more calmly.
"You first?" Jenny asked with a raised eyebrow. "Oh James, don't be serious. I would never first assume that somebody like you would've wrote this to me...not first, anyway. You're like a brother to me, I'd never assume you first." She then looked at him rather confused. "Why? Did you actually wrote it to me?"
Hearing this asked, James immediately grew sheepish. "Uh..." He chuckled nervously, before frowning. "In all seriousness...no, I didn't." He lied, no longer chuckling to himself.
Jenny just stared at him suspiciously, before standing up from the bench with a sigh. "Well, regardless, I guess I'm stuck trying to search for my secret admirer in this town. But for now, I must be going to the Agency Building now." The geeky girl then gave her best friend a thumbs up. "I'll see you at the arcade later on, okay?"
"Okay. See you then, Jenny."
With a smile, Jenny began to head off to the SPA Agency Building leaving James by his lonesome on the bench. The goth just continued to smile as his best friend was leaving him there by himself. Once he was no longer in her sight, his smile immediately turned into an annoyed frown as he held his hands up into the air in annoyance.
"Rob Jarrett?! Of all people that she could assume first, she assumed Rob?!! Are you kidding me?!!" James shouts. "Great...just great..." The goth then slid down the bench placing a hand in his forehead, feeling completely bothered by this plan going awry for him.
Meanwhile...
With Summer...
It was pretty much just going to be another day at the Boardwalk once again...
After Chaz dropped her off at the entrance, she walked into the area carrying a purple sports bag that contains her lifeguard equipment inside it. She wasn't really expecting anything too much on her shift today. She was just expecting nothing more but the average sunny day, with people occasionally either almost drowning or needs help with a thing or two, and then just head on home...nothing more, nothing less. However, what she didn't know was that today she was going to meet up with somebody new today.
Upon walking onto the pier, Summer immediately looked at the 'Turkey-on-a-Fork' cart to see Goth Boy sitting there on his phone, most likely slacking on the job as usual. The goth was wearing a yellow hat with a white-buttoned shirt with black dress-pants and a yellow apron. It was usually almost comical to Summer to see Goth Boy at a job like this, considering that it's a job that's outdoors and that this job involves food that...she'll honestly admit, wasn't all that good to her. As a matter of fact, the food in that cart is gross to her.
"Who are you texting there, Goth Boy?" The blonde girl asked as she approached the goth.
"W-What?!" Goth Boy said, caught by surprise. He immediately saw Summer in front of him, causing him to place his phone back into his pocket. "N-nothing. I wasn't in my phone."
"Bullshit you weren't. You're lucky I was the one who caught you rather than your own boss."
"Whatever..."
Summer then turned towards the stairs that lead down to the beach, seeing a couple of surfers talking with each other in the distance. She had seen them around before, and none of them usually don't cause any sort of trouble around here...thankfully. The small group wasn't doing anything that really involved her, but that was until she quickly noticed a completely new surfer who she had never seen before walking up to them. The man that Summer was seeing has messy blonde hair, and light blue board-shorts, and was carrying a white surfboard.
Summer was almost awestruck upon seeing this new guy here on the beach, causing Goth Boy to walk up to her to snap her out of her gaze. He snapped his fingers in front of her face, causing her to come back to reality. "W-What happened?" She then asked.
"You must've seen a cute boy or something." Goth Boy said.
"Probably a sexy one." She then looked at the same new guy that she had previously seen seconds ago. "Who is that guy? That one guy with the blonde hair over there?"
"That guy? That's Luke Issac. He moved here from California about a day or two ago." Goth Boy then pointed behind himself at one of the buildings behind them. "He just recently got hired at the 'Surf Shop' also. He thought that working there will help him out with..." it was at this moment, the goth fell silent, seeing the blonde girl staring at Luke again with awe. "...You're not paying attention to what I'm saying anymore, are you?"
"Nope...he's too dreamy to look away from."
"I'm...sure he is." The goth said, leaving Summer to stand there. "I'm just going to get back to work now if you need me."
"Yeah. You enjoy..." Summer then snapped out of it again, realizing that she too needed to go to work. "Damn, I need to get to my stand, like, right now!" She then picked up her sports bag off of the ground, now running her way over to her lifeguard post.
