With Katie...

It was Katie's second day at her dentist job, and just like yesterday, she was liking every bit of this day. One thing that she truthfully wasn't expecting upon starting there is that she actually gets her own office rather than sharing one with her father. She half-expected her and her father working together, but this was still okay nonetheless. Either way, all of this was pretty much all Katie ever wanted in life when she was a kid, and it was sure as heck awesome to finally be working at the place she always wanted to when she was a kid.

It was at this moment, Katie was currently finishing up a patient whom had previously had an appointment here moments prior. She was just doing some last minute checking before she can let the patient head on out. After she finally checked the patient's teeth for a few more seconds, she picked up the clipboard behind her and wrote something down onto it with a smile.

"Alright...I believe that you are now done, Clara." Katie said, before placing her clipboard back onto the desk behind her. "For being such a wonderful patient, I believe it's only right that I give you something."

"That sounds lovely!" The little girl said very excitedly. "Is it a sticker?! Is it a stuffed animal!"

"Even better. Just stay right there."

Katie went over to the nearest cabinet, reaching inside of it to collect her patient something. She then took out two items, which were a toothbrush and a small container of floss. She also took out a small bag so that she can safely keep them in for her patient to take with her. When she handed these things over to the little girl, Clara went from happy to puzzled in a matter of seconds.

"What the?" She said looking inside of the bag. "I already have these things at home."

"Oh, Clara, these are what all kids get whenever they are good here." Katie told her. "But...if you're not satisfied enough, I'll just hand you a lollipop too."

The tomboyish dentist went over to her desk, grabbing the jar of lollipops that was in the center of it. She then took one out and handed it over to the little girl, causing her to become happy. "Thank you, Katie! You're the best dentist in this place!"

"No problem."

Katie then went over to the door to her office, opening it up to allow the child out of her office. Thankfully, she didn't really need to go back to the waiting room alongside Clara, since the girl's mother was waiting in the hallway outside the office the entire time. The tomboy and Clara's mother talked for a couple moments, mainly about how the check-up went, as well as what she needed to be doing until the next one comes months later. After the conversation had ended, the family left as Katie entered her office again to get prepared for the next appointment.

During the time, Katie was looking over her clipboard to see whose appointment is next. However, as she was about to see who her next patient is going to be, her phone started to ring on the desk behind her. Believing it to be Crystal, Katie just gave in and answered the call. It's usually typical, yet distracting, that her best friend would call her during her work hours, but the tomboy never really allowed it to distract her from work. She pressed the button on the phone, answering the call for whoever it was on the other line.

"What's up, Crystal?" Katie said as she continued to stare at her clipboard. "Whatever's important, save it for after my work-shift, okay dude?"

"Crystal?" A male voice said on the other line. "Katie, dude, it's me...Chaz."

"Chaz?! Wait a second, what?!" Katie dropped her clipboard onto the floor and then picked up her phone. "Why the hell are you calling at right now?! Come to think of it, how did you get my number?!"

"Crystal gave me your number. Now take it easy, alright?"

"Take it easy?! Dude, you almost gotten me into huge trouble two days ago when my dad found your sunglasses on his coffee table." Katie explained to him, still clearly unhappy with what had happened days prior. "My dad would've flipped if he knew you were at my house behind his back!"

"Would you chill out? You and Crystal already took care of that situation before your dad figured out what happened..."

"Uh...no, I was actually the one who had took care of the situation, by completely lying to his face that I didn't have anyone over at the house."

Katie then quickly looked at the door to her office for a good few seconds, before continuing on with this conversation. It was bad enough that her father almost discovered their hangout days ago, but the last thing she also needed was for him to walk into her office to see her talking to some random boy he's never even met. She knows that he will find out about Chaz one of these days, but for now, she rather not let this happen yet. With a sigh, she continued to talk.

"Anyways, why are you even calling me right now?" Katie asked, picking up her clipboard from the floor.

"Really, all I was calling for was...just to apologize about almost landing you in trouble with your dad." Chaz said. "Crystal told me and Tim all about it when she visited us after our hangout together. I would've called yesterday, but...I kind of knew that you'd probably still be pissed at me, so...I didn't even bother."

"It's...fine. You're just lucky that my dad didn't end up figuring out about our hangout." The tomboy then places her clipboard onto her desk, before leaning on the wall next to it. "Is that all you're calling me about? Because I doubt you're only calling me to apologize."

"I was also...well, wanting to see if you were willing to hang out again one of these days, you know?" The dentist raises an eyebrow, as Chaz continued to talk. "At first I was a little skeptical about you, but so far, you seem like a pretty cool girl. I actually wouldn't mind hanging out with somebody like you again."

"Well...I don't exactly know when I have a day off, but...I'm sure that one of these days, we'll be able to hang out together." The tomboy then rubbed her chin, before smiling. "You know what? I was actually going to be getting some pizza from Gino's Pizzeria later on for dinner tonight. You can meet me there if you want to." She then cringed, remembering something. "Unless...you and Summer have plans tonight, or something...I don't want to disrupt any date of yours, or..."

"We don't have a date tonight, actually. Besides...after working alongside my asshole of a dad, the last thing I need to be on a date is stressed out..."

"Um...okay, no further questions there then..." Katie smiled, before standing up from the wall. "I'll see you there, Chaz."

"I'll see you there too, Katie." After Chaz said that, the phone call ended there.

It seems like things were settled for the night. Katie and Chaz are now going to be hanging out together at Gino's Pizzeria later on for dinner tonight. Hopefully for Katie, if Summer were to find out about this that she doesn't mistake it for her trying to steal him away from her. It was really just two friends having dinner out as only friends and that's it. But then again, so far, Summer seems to find Katie more trustworthy than Crystal, so it's doubtful that she would even mind.

After the phone call had ended, Katie placed her phone away, exiting the office so that she can collect her next patient.

Meanwhile...

Back with Summer...

About three hours had passed her by, and...still nobody needed help, nor was there anybody in any sort of danger...

Throughout her entire shift, nobody had came to the beach. Throughout the entirety of her shift, Summer only saw Luke, the other surfers, and occasionally crabs walking alongside the shoreline and that's it. Nobody had come here today, and none of the previously mentioned ended up in any sort of danger whatsoever. All in all, it was pretty much just an extremely boring day on the job for Summer.

As she was sitting there looking out to the ocean, Summer was getting more and more impatient with just sitting there doing nothing all day. There wasn't really much for her to do around her shack aside from either sit on the chair, stand and do nothing, or just call the station in case there's an emergency. Aside from those three things, there wasn't really much for her to do. Granted, there was still her own phone that was still inside her tower, but normally, it'd be against the rules to use her own phone. But...since she was bored, she didn't really see why not at this point.

Summer went into the tower and started to look through her sports bag to find her phone. After she found it, she sat down onto the stool and gave Chaz a call to see how things are going with him, and if they were going to be hanging out tonight. She places Chaz's number into her phone, then waited. A couple seconds passed, and then he answered.

"Hey Summer." Chaz said once he answered the phone. "What's going on, babe?"

"Just...bored. The day's just passing me by, and I'm stuck here, looking out to the ocean in front of me...at an abandoned beach...all by myself." Summer said, as she sat down on the tower's only stool. "So...what are you doing right now? Anything planned for today? I was wanting to know if we were doing anything after I'm done working here."

"Oh, right...I hate to break it to you right now, but...I actually have plans tonight." Summer then stood up from her stool, walking over to one of the windows to check where those surfers were off to. "I'm going to be heading off to Gino's Pizzeria to be spending time with another girl..."

"Let me guess, Crystal?"

"Crystal? No...I'm talking about Katie."

"Katie, huh?" The lifeguard then became confused. "Wait a minute, I thought you guys hated each other. Last time I remember, you and her were at each other's throats back there at her house. What happened?"

"We talked to each other a bit, and we're pretty cool with each other now. Although...I can't exactly say that we're friends yet...also, she didn't seem too keen on me accidentally leaving my sunglasses at her house that day...she was kind of upset about that...but, thankfully, her dad didn't find out about the hangout. So...that's good at least."

"I guess..." Summer said sounding a little distraught by the fact she and Chaz weren't going to be hanging out tonight.

"But, hey...don't be too worried about tonight. Like always, I'm going to be picking you up after work like I always do, babe..."

Chaz continued to say some things, but at that moment, Summer had completely toned out everything that he had been saying. Her focus was on Luke once again, who was walking passed her lifeguard stand alongside one of the surfers she had previously stopped before. It was kind of disappointing to her that she and Chaz weren't going to be hanging out together tonight, but for once, she feels a little happy that that's the case. Since he's going to be busy, it would give her all the time in the world to see how Luke's life is like and if he's worth dating.

"Summer...are you still there?" Chaz asked his girlfriend.

"W-What did you say?" Summer asked. "Sorry, I thought I...saw somebody drowning out into the distance."

"I was seeing if you were wanting to go out anywhere this week when we both finally get the day-off together."

"Uh..." Summer then looked out the window once again, before finally answering her boyfriend's question. "...I think I need to think about that, Chaz. My work can be pretty hectic when it comes to when I can have the day-off and when I can't...so...I'll give you a call later."

"Okay then. Um..." Summer glanced out the window for a second to see where Luke was at, then took notice of another man walking over to the two surfers. "Damn it...Tad again..." She mutters to herself, before finally deciding to end the call there. "Anyways, I should be getting back to work now, Chaz. Tad is going to be walking by my tower any minutes, and the last thing I need is for him to be going on and on about how I should be more focused on what happens in the ocean rather than what's going on on my phone...he takes forever to get his point across, I swear..."

"I...probably should be getting back to work too. My dad would probably get pissed if he saw me talking to you during the work-shift." The sound of something metal hitting the ground was heard on Chaz's phone. "Crap! Anyways, got to go. I love you Summer."

"Yeah...I love you too, Chaz..." Summer said, clearly sounding like she didn't really mean it. After the phone call ended, Summer exited the tower and went back to her chair to sit down.
