It was sun high, the sun glared oppressively over the Windclan camp, most of the warriors were in shade or near the marsh on Riverclan's border. Mumblepaw was walking over towards a single tree far out in the moor, he was meeting with the other apprentices. He barely got to see Flickerpaw and Dandelionpaw anymore due to Gorsestar insisting on training and hunting for the entire day which had taken a role on Mumblepaw at first, but he managed to pull through and meet Gorsestar's expectations.

He had also gotten stronger as the constant running around helped him get more muscle and lose weight. All in all he had a great apprenticeship so far.

Windclan owned a bit of forest that grew past the stream that made up the border between Windclan and Thunderclan, while Thunderclan did try to take it a few times they eventually stopped after constantly losing the battle. Flickerpaw had been invited to meet with the other apprentices at the tree but he didn't feel like it, he preferred staying by himself in the woods where it was quiet and had shade.

Since everyone had already eaten or been taken care of, as well as the summer ensuring plenty of prey resulting in a large prey pile, Gorsestar said they were free to eat their catches for today. Flickerpaw had spent his time waiting in the underbrush near trees to ambush squirrels, which were his favorite prey even if it made him seem like some Thunderclan warrior. He shook his head, none of the other apprentices would understand how good squirrels tasted, they all spent time hunting rabbits. Although amazingly Russetpaw managed to catch a fish which he had tried a bit of.

He heard the bushes rustle and he quickly got up from his meal and turned to the border. He saw a Thunderclan patrol walking by on their side of the stream. There was a golden tom and a brown apprentice as well as a dark Gray tom with a brooding look to him, The golden tom saw and called out to him.

"It seems you Windclan cats have a taste for squirrels?, I'm surprised I thought you were rabbit chasers"

Flickerpaw decided to reply back, not sure whether or not it was an insult. "Sadly it's just been me eating them, we have plenty of prey so we're free to catch them."

"Gray or Brown?"

Flickerpaw paused "Pardon?"

The golden tom snickered. "The apprentices in Thunderclan have a debate on whether Gray or Brown squirrels taste better, my apprentice Pinepaw over here says it's brown squirrels."

"Oh, well I prefer Gray squirrels,"

Pinepaw spoke up "Of course you would like gray squirrels." She said jokingly.

The Gray tom called out to the rest of his patrol. "Wheatfur, Pinepaw, stop talking to those Windclan traitors have you forgotten what Moorstar did, let's move it."

Flickerpaw felt insulted by that statement, just because Moorstar was evil didn't mean they were traitors. Flickerpaw just hoped they would eventually forgive Windclan, Starclan forbid what may happen if they don't.

Dandelionpaw was waiting at the tree for the other apprentices, so far her training had been nothing short of exhausting and Sunleaf hadn't been sympathetic to her either, She was glad Gorsestar decided that today could be a break for the apprentices and warriors, although some of the senior warriors were meeting with Gorsestar along with Doveclaw. Now that she thought about it Doveclaw needed to get an apprentice soon, the she-cat was already old and she could see Doveclaw moving to the elders den by the next green-leaf, however no one was interested in being a medicine cat.

The other apprentices were starting to show up by then, Russetpaw, Leopardpaw and Tigerpaw were talking to each other about the gathering from a few nights ago, and she was shocked to see Lionpaw and Mumblepaw talking to each other, Mumblepaw seemed to have changed a lot in the short time he'd been with Gorsestar, He looked a lot more like Gorsestar now that she thought about it.

"Hey Dandelionpaw, what happened."

Dandelionpaw looked up and saw Lionpaw looking at her funny, "Nothing happened, why do you ask?"

"You seem more tired than usual and your fur isn't groomed."

"Oh that's just because Sunleaf's been training me so much I guess I never had the time." She laughed.

Lionpaw started to chuckle. "I understand how that is, trust me apprenticeship does not get easier."

Oh, well that's great she thought gloomily, I'll be stuck with Sunleaf for awhile.

"Oh cheer up Dandelionpaw there will be plenty of fun even with a strict mentor." Chirped Leopardpaw

"I know it just gets tiring, so what happened at the gathering anyways."

"Cranestar is sick, and Thunderclan and Shadowclan are still mad at us."

"So the usual." Added Leopardpaw.

Her ears perked "Isn't Eaglestorm the next in line to be leader?"

Russetpaw thought about it, "Oh yeah she is."

Tigerpaw butted in "I don't trust her, have you seen how friendly she is to the Shadowclan leader, if she becomes leader we will be alone and the other clans will see weakness."

Russetpaw laughed "Stop being so paranoid Tugerpaw and just enjoy the day."

Leopardpaw flicked her tail impatiently. "Speaking of enjoying the day when will we hunt?"

Dandelionpaw was feeling hungry, she planned on waiting to see if Flickerpaw had changed his mind about coming but he still wasn't hear. "We can start hunting now I guess."

"Me and Mumblepaw will be practicing battle moves, if you want to come with us." Added Lionpaw.

Dandelionpaw thought about it and it was tempting to train with Lionpaw, but then again she couldn't be seen with Lazypaw.

"I'll go hunting, sorry Lionpaw."

"It's ok, I understand."

As she went to the moor to hunt she saw Mumblepaw's gaze, when he saw her his eyes flickered with an emotion she couldn't quite tell, was it fear, anger? She would need to be more careful around Mumblepaw, especially if the other clans kept up the threats. She had a feeling the peace wouldn't last much longer.
