so I actually finished this about a day after I posted the last chapter but my laptop isn't quite right at the moment word keeps crashing on it when I'm trying to edit so I had to take a short break from my laptop, so I didn't break my laptop. it's only kinda working now, editing shouldn't take that long.
if any of you write what do you use because word has failed me, and I'm ready to give up. I need something new to use and soon.

[Later at the party]
It doesn't take Caroline long to plan and execute the perfect party, and for three hours' notice, the turnout was amazing. Caroline really outdid herself.
They had all decided to dress up, to outshine the birthday boy himself. Once they had arrived at the grill they spill up, Jeremy and Vicki sat at the bar. Matt left the group to join up with some guys from the football team. Caroline is circling making sure that everything was perfect, and Anna is waiting for Damon sat near the pool tables, so she can see him as he walks in.
They make eye contact as soon as he walks through the door, but rather than joining her he heads towards Caroline, Anna doesn't hear what he says but she can see the look on her face, furious she begins walking over.
"I want my necklace; I know you took it."
"Actually it was me that took it, and I gave it to the Bennett witch. You know since it is hers." She nods to Caroline letting her leave, ever the loyal friend she stays. Linking their arms, she lets Anna know Stefan has just walked in and is trying to talk to Matt."
"Part of me hopes Matt will punch him." Anna agrees pointing out that if he did it would probably break his arm.
"You should leave my little brother alone." Damon says with a frown.
"Your brother shouldn't be attacking humans and baby vamps, especially after I warned you both to behave yourselves. Now out with the plan dummy."
"Stefan would never attack a human." A blond interrupt the conversation.
"Anna, Blondie meet Lexi, Stefan's bestest friend in the whole world."
"Piss off Damon."
"I agree with her go sit over there until you are ready to cooperate."
"What the hell is going on?"
"It's a long story lex."
"You two know each other?" Damon exclaims pointing between the two, fear in his eyes.
"Your bestie attacked my boyfriend almost killing him, just because we won't force the town's newest baby vamp into vampire veganism. Also, he tried to kill her before she could turn. Lex, I get that he is your best friend but if he doesn't sort his shit out, I will kill him. Or worse a member of my family will kill him for threatening me."
"Damn it, Stefan." She growls stalking off towards her friend. Caroline opens her mouth to ask about her loyalties, Anna just shrugs she's not sure yet.
"Makes things awkward." Damon mutters walking off." Anna shoots Vicki a quick text telling her to watch Damon's every move.
"Damn it!" Anna leaves Caroline's side as she sees Matt shove Stefan back, she's not blind she can see Tyler moving in to help his friend. This could become a bloodbath.
"Stay the hell away from my sister!" The whole bar can hear the threat in his voice.
Startled Anna realises Stefan is about to shove Matt back. She starts shoving through the party-goers with more force. Tyler beats her to his side grabbing one of Stefan's arms. Telling him to cool it.
Lexi and Anna appear at the same time, Lexi drags Stefan away, he goes somewhat reluctantly still arguing how he is right about Vicki.
"What the hell was all that about?" Tyler asks clapping a hand on Matt's shoulder. Matt shakes his head brushing the question off as nothing. Tyler doesn't believe him why would he, he has known Matt his whole life he knows when he is lying. In an unusual show of compassion, he lets the lie slide asking Matt if he is ok.
"Yeah, man."
Throwing an arm around his shoulder Tyler steers him towards the bar to get a drink in him.
Anna meets Lexi's eye across the room she's dragged Stefan onto the dance floor, they are having a whispered conversation and by the looks of it, Lexi is pissed. Good.
Anna's phone goes off it's Vicki she's lost Damon he's left the grill. Shooting back a quick text to stay inside she leaves in search of the dick.
[Outside the grill]
"What the hell are you doing?" she rips Damon away from the boy. Throwing him towards the wall. He rubs his neck where she grabbed him, as he pulls himself up, "We are framing Lexi."
"No we are not but you have given me a good idea. Now shoo before I snap your neck and hand you over." she whispers a spell, and the dead boy stands. His girlfriend shrieks in alarm. Anna grabs her chin compelling her quiet. Once she is quiet, she is completed again to believe her boyfriend is the vampire that attacked her. She moves back to the boy whispering another spell as she goes, making him look more vampiric, a few more to make him unfamiliar to the townspeople.
"The Sheriff is here." Damon says in the silence. She curses, not enough time.
"It will have to do." She shoves the girl into the wall sending the fake vampire into her. She grabs Damon's arm using magic they appear in the opposite alley.
"You're up Damon. Go make friends with the Sheriff. Once he is staked, he will go down like a vamp but the glamour will stay." leaving Damon outside she re-joins the party inside.
Jeremy is waiting for her by the door, curling an arm around her waist he moves them further into the grill. She doesn't stop until she is next to Lexi at the bar.
"Make that four shots of Tequila." She says smacking the bar. He asks for ID, she smiles as she compels him, pushing two of the glasses towards Anna and Jeremy.
"So this your guy huh."
"You got somewhere to stay tonight." Lexis gives her a glare for the obvious topic change but answers nonetheless
"Was gonna head out, I only get him for his b-day, but if you're offering you could catch me up on whatever the hell is going on here."
"Jeremy, are you drinking?" All three cringe at the high-pitched shriek coming from behind.
"The famous Elena, why are you shouting down my ear?"
"Towel girl." Anna and Jeremy snort into their drinks. "I didn't know you guys could drink?"
"You don't know anything you just judge." Jeremy cuts in. "And no-one here wants to talk about your Boyfriend problems so shoo." Lexi hides a smile behind her glass. Picking up the glass for Stefan she tells Anna she will catch up with her later and leaves to find her friend.
"Don't even think about it." Jeremy says as Elena moves to sit.
"I am your sister."
"I don't care, I don't want you near me. If you sit, we leave." Anna chooses to stay silent through the sibling's argument instead watching the way Matt is guiding Caroline over to the bar.
"Is she drunk?" Anna had never seen Caroline this out of it, it was worrying to see.
"As a skunk." The girl in question giggles leaning into Matt. Matt waves the bartender over asking for a coffee. "Bad night, huh. I don't blame you for getting hammered we shouldn't have come."
"Caroline I can't believe your drunk!" Elena exclaims scandalised. Jeremy gets up grabbing his sister by the arm to drag her away.
"Matt, am I shallow?"
"Is that a trick question?" Anna smacks him on the arm. As Vicki joins them wrapping an arm around Caroline as she says.
"I don't mean to be. I wanna be deep. I wanna be, like ... The abyss deep."
"No offense, Care, but that's not your scene." He says gently putting the cup in her hands.
"That's true, I'm shallow, I am worse than shallow, I'm a kiddie pool."
"You're not a kiddie pool." All three try to tell her but she is inconsolable. She eventually asks Matt to take her home with tears in her eyes.
"Your place, or Anna's if my mum sees me like this." She waves a hand down at herself with a depreciating smile. "Well, actually she's already disappointed in me so who cares."
"Caroline." Anna tries but she just shakes her head.
"Home please, Anna's home."
"Ok let's get you home." Jeremy is back,
"Have you been running?" Vicki laughs
Trying to catch his breath he manages to explain that they had bumped into the sheriff and Elena had told her that Caroline was drunk. "She's on her way in, you need to get her out the back."
"Or you could try not to hide from me." they all cringe turning to see the sheriff and standing beside her a smug Elena.
"I was just about to take her home sheriff, I haven't drunk anything."
"I would appreciate that Matt thank you." They walk past but she stops them. "Our house Caroline not Anna's you can be sure your grounded." Caroline mock salutes her.
"Have you been drinking Anna, Vicki, Jeremy?"
"Not touched a drop, I'm trying to get clean." Vicki admits with a shy smile.
Both Jeremy and Anna say no but once again Elena buts in saying she saw them.
"We had one drink each, I'd hardly call it drinking. And sheriff I'm so sorry I didn't realise that Caroline had been drinking, I was catching up with an old friend and didn't see much of her during the party."
Shaking her head she tells them both to go home to their separate homes.
Pulling herself up out of her seat, Anna kisses Jeremy on the cheek "I best go find Lexi, If I leave her behind, she won't forgive me."
Elena tries to get Jeremy to go with her but Vicki offers to give him a ride.
Anna joins Lexi sneering at Stefan, "So Lexi, I'm being sent home for underage drinking. You wanna come home with me now or do you want the address.".
"You two know each other?".
"Shut up, I'd hate to beat you up on your birthday. Actually yes I would, cause I don't like you."
Lexi catches her arm, "Text me the address, I'll come by after." Anna kisses her cheek.
[outside the grill]
"Bye sheriff."
"Anna, how are you getting home."
Anna raises her phone, "Taxi."
"That your car." The sheriff nods at her baby. "I have no doubt Caroline left her car at yours if you don't mind. I could drive you home in your car and then take Caroline's back with me."
"Sounds like a plan sheriff."
They get in Anna relaxing into her seat, she smiles at the look of awe on the sheriff's face. "This is a truly beautiful car."
Laughing anna tells her that Caroline keeps stealing it because she loves it so much.
They drive chatting comfortably until they reach the house. "I'm not sure I'm ok with you being alone if you've been drinking."
"I'm not drunk and if it makes you feel any better, I have a friend coming over in a few hours, we shall eat junk food and watch cheesy movies."
"Ok, call me if you need anything." She rattles off her phone number watching as Anna types it in, as they walk into the foyer. Anna points out Caroline's keys on the table. The sheriff thanks her as she leaves telling Anna to lock the door behind her.
Anna makes a show of locking the door for the sheriff but there is no need, the door has a magical barrier on it.
