Season 5 Episode 5:
(With the Goa'uld gone, the war over, some endings aren't always the way we want them to be, sometimes they become better.).
Conrad and Sam were looking at possible homes, they plan on living near the job. They narrowed it to two options, they loved them both but they weren't sure. Conrad looked at the first option. "For bedrooms, two bathrooms, double garage, nice porch and backward, swimming pool. While this one, the only difference is that he is a little further away from the SGC.".
Sam sat next to him. "Personally, I like them both. But maybe we should take the one closest to work." She pointed out. Conrad nods. "Agreed. So, now we have the house, now what?" he asked. Sam snuggled into his shoulder. "We can focus on a family." she said. Conrad looked at her. "Do you really want kids?" he asked. Sam nods. "If it's okay with you." She knows about Thomas and somehow, they will have him, Conrad isn't aware of the future for he didn't want spoilers. He smiled. "If it's what you want, I am happy to help." he said.
Later that day, Sam and Janet were out on the search for a wedding dress. But none of it was what Sam was looking for. Then one of the assistants came to their aid. "May I help you?" she asked. Sam nods. "Yes, I am looking for something specific, something special. And do you have any ruby necklaces, my fiancé's favourite colour is red.".
Conrad was at the SGC, he was in his greens, he was meeting with the IOA, as Richard Woolsey walked in, Conrad got up and saluted. Woolsey did the same and told him to sit down. After he sat down, Woolsey read his file. "It comes to my attention that you plan on leaving SG-1?". Conrad nods. "That is correct sir, I wish to remain in the military. I was wondering if it's possible I could get stationed as a test pilot for the SGC.". Woolsey didn't seem surprised. "Well then, I admire your work, and with your record I believe you would make a great test pilot. You do realise you will need to take special training to be a marine's test pilot, right?" he asked. Conrad nods. "Yes sir.".
Woolsey then handed another file. "The president wishes for me to hand you this, you are to be promoted to Colonel.". Conrad took the file but was confused. "But I would be skipping Major and Lt. Colonel ranks." He stated. Woolsey nods. "And Colonel Jack O'Neill will be promoted to Brigadier General. And your girlfriend or should I say fiancé will be promoted to Lt. Colonel. Orders from the president of the United States.".
Conrad then sighed. "You know, I will miss the battlefield." he said. Woolsey nods. "I am sure of it. You did save our asses a couple times." he said. Conrad shrugged. "Part of the job.". But Woolsey wasn't done. "You also forged the greatest alliance known to man, fought in another war in another reality, and suffered as a Replicator for a year, and you were a POW." He reminded him. Conrad slightly shifted his movement. "I am a man of action." He said. Woolsey kept the files coming up. "And with the flaws you made you always fixed your problems. Always found a solution.". Conrad still didn't understand. "Why are we discussing about my past?" he asked.
Woolsey then asked. "When was the last time you went home, and I mean, your homeland?" he asked. Conrad looked sceptical. "Not to sound like a romantic but, where ever my fiancé, friends and family are, I am good as home.". Woolsey nods. "You were also invited back to South Africa, correct?" he asked. Conrad nods. "Yes.". Woolsey then asked. "Why'd you stay here?" he asked.
Conrad lends forward. "Because I found my place.". Woolsey nods. Packing his things, he said: Well then, congratulations, Colonel. You earned it.". Conrad left with a smile, he asked for the promotion to be on hold until he told Sam about the news.
She arrived at the SGC in full blues. "Tell me why I am dressed in my formal uniform?" she asked. Conrad joined hands with her. "You'll see.". Jack was also in his blues. Conrad shook hands with his friend. "Colonel, or should I say General?" he asked. Sam lifted a brow. "You were promoted?" she asked. Jack nods. "Yeah. Funny isn't it, plus you two are next.". Sam then understood. She nudged Conrad for not telling her. He just laughed.
They were in the gate room. Hammond was giving his last promotion before he gets promoted for Homeworld Security. Sam was first. Hammond smiled as the stars were placed on her shoulders. "You earned it Lt. Colonel. And now, Captain Conrad Baird. It is my great pleasure to promote you to a full pledged Colonel.". Sam wasn't surprised. He was pretty good with his job.
When the stars were on his shoulder, he saluted at Hammond, he saluted to Jack, Sam held her hand out for him. Conrad looks at her hand and smiles. Ignoring her hand, he cups her face and kisses her. She kissed back, and then Conrad threw her over making her hang in his arms. People started cheering. Even Jacob was there in his blues. He stood up and said: "Give her a five star!". That caused a burst of laughter. After she was back on her feet, Conrad spoke over the microphone. "Thanks for this, it means a lot to me.". That's all he said.
(3 months later.).
Conrad was at his bachelor party, he invited the following: Jack, Daniel, Teel'c, Tobias, Hammond, his friend from South Africa known as Major Trevor van Eden, Recce's. They were at O'Malley's. The guys were having a good time, and surprisingly no one was drunk. Conrad was sitting when he said something. "This will be my last words as a single man, there is no way, I am screwing up this time, NO CHANCE!" he assured. Hammond then laughed. "Too much alcohol?" he asked. Conrad nods. "Maybe a little.".
(Two weeks.).
It was the big day, the wedding. Conrad was in his greens, Sam said he was irresistible in it, he chose Tobias as his best man, Tobias then spoke. "I have a good feeling about this, I know this time it will work." he said. Conrad smiles. "You and your vibes." he said. Then, Sam didn't show up at the aisle. Which scared him, but she was then beamed down next to him with Janet as her maid of honour. Conrad looks at the back and then back to her. "Cool." he said. Sam smiled. Conrad then looked up and down. "You look irresistible Sam.".
Odin stood in front of everyone. "We are gathered her today to celebrate the union of these two special people. Do you Colonel Conrad Baird, take Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter as your lawfully wedded wife?" he asked. Conrad smiled. "Always." he said. Odin did the same with Sam. "Do you, Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter, take Colonel Conrad Baird as your lawfully wedded husband?". Sam smiled. "Yes." she said. Odin the said the ending part. "Then by the power invested in me, I present you as man and wife.".
At the after party, Conrad and Sam were dancing on a very special song. Perfect by Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli.
Sam rested her head in his shoulder. "It's perfect." she said. Conrad smiled. "I asked your dad about this one, I am surprised he helped me out.". Then Jacob came stood up from his table after the dance.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I just wish to say something. To the happy couple, I hope for many years ahead, and I know that you two will be together for a long time. But, I have a piece to sing.".

Sam was in tears. "Thank you dad." she said. Conrad then said: "Jacob, I will always understand. No bond is stronger then between the one of a father and daughter. And I respect that bond.". Jacob sighed in relief. "Thank you.".
That night, Conrad and Sam were in their new home. They were going through all the images they have of the wedding. "Time to start a new chapter in our lives." He said to Sam. Sam nods. "Yeah, a new chapter.".
