It took a bit of a walk to get there, but James managed to arrive at the movie theater...
As he slowly arrived at this location, he couldn't help but take notice of the large crowd of people who were standing around outside the theater. With the countless amount of people who showed up here, he couldn't tell which people around here are either single or already dating someone. The fact that he didn't seem to recognize anybody around here made things all the more difficult for him to find his secret admirer. He just hopes that he's able to find whoever this mystery person even is.
Searching through the crowd of people that were here, James tried to find anyone here who were single. Unfortunately for him, he had no luck. Everyone around here appeared to have a date already, and when he ended up finding somebody who appeared to be single, their date walks over to them soon after. For all he knew, his 'Secret Admirer' might've stood him up...which from who entirely horrible his day has been, it wouldn't surprise him if that's the case. It was at this point, he was just about to give up searching and just head home.
Right before he could leave, a female voice spoke up from nearby. "Well...I wasn't expecting you to be here, Louiston." The voice spoke in a snide manner, stopping the goth in his tracks.
James immediately turned around, seeing the person who was calling out his name. When he turned towards the side of the building, there stood Crystal, crossing her arms and leaning on the side of the building. Out of everyone he could be seeing here right now, he was quite surprised to be seeing her. Something involving romance didn't seem like something that Crystal would like going to. He already knew that she of all people wasn't his 'Secret Admirer', but he was still confused why she was even here right now.
"Oh...well, this is just what I needed..." James muttered sarcastically, before walking over to the rebel. "What the hell are you doing here, Crystal?"
"I was just walking passed this building, then I saw Summer and Luke walk inside...so I thought I'd go in and heckle them during their date." Crystal explains, causing the geeky goth to raise an eyebrow at her. "I just got bored, so I decided to do something productive with my time instead of walk around town." She sighed. "Besides...it's the only thing that will make me happy after a day like this one."
"What happened?"
"Chaz rejected me a couple nights ago...then Katie told me that he has feelings for her instead of me. So...right now, I'm kind of alone if you haven't noticed..."
"Well, no offense, you could've picked a way better boyfriend than somebody like Chaz. I can tell you that." The male goth said sarcastically, causing the rebel to glare at him. He relents upon seeing her glare, now pulling the letter that he had received days ago. "Anyways, I should probably get to finding my secret admirer now."
"You still haven't figured out who your 'Secret Admirer' is?" The only response that the goth could give Crystal was nothing more but a shrug. "It's only been about four days since you told me about that love letter. How have you not found this person yet?"
"I don't know. All I know is that they want me to meet them here right now, and so far, I don't see anyone around here that I recognize."
Crystal then pointed towards one of the random people that were in the crowd right now. "What about her?"
James immediately turned towards the direction where the rebel girl was pointing at, only to be stunned at who he was seeing right now. The person that Crystal was pointing towards was none other than...Jenny. He couldn't believe that out of everybody who could be here right now, it was her. His own best friend, his own crush even. He honestly couldn't believe that this is really happening right now.
"Jenny?!" James nearly shouts, only to cover his mouth immediately afterwards. He turned towards the rebel girl next to him, now talking a little more quieter. "What's she doing here?"
"Well...she's probably here because of him." Crystal said, pointing towards the geeky girl once again.
James immediately turned towards his crush once again, but this time, he noticed that she was now talking to somebody. It didn't take long for him to instantly recognize the person who Jenny was talking to. What was even worse about this was that the person that his crush was talking to was actually...Rob. Upon seeing this, the geeky goth's became even more worried, but with a hint of irritation as he spoke about seeing this.
"What the hell?! Rob Jarrett's here too?!" James nearly shouts again. "Come to think of it, why did...whoever wrote that letter to me...made me come here if I was just going to see THIS?!!! Unless they invited me over here so that I can see that and feel like a complete failure even more!"
"Um...I don't think you've failed to get Jenny, dude."
"Bullshit! Don't you see what's going on right in front of you?!"
"You mean some random girl approaching Rob's side and holding his hand? Some random girl who isn't Jenny by the way?"
"Exactly!" James then became confused immediately afterwards, suddenly realizing what Crystal had just told him. "Wait, what?" He asked, a little more calmer this time, yet still clearly baffled.
James faces the spot where Jenny and Rob were at once again. Like Crystal had mentioned, some random girl had just approached the two geeky people, and was now holding Rob's hand. Jenny's expression went from a smile to a surprised yet disheartened frown. It was clear to both her, as well as James from afar, that the girl in question was Rob's girlfriend. It was at this moment, the geeky goth decided to take a few steps closer to the three to listen in on what they were talking about, but not too close as he didn't want to be seen by them.
"So...you didn't write me this love letter I gotten in the mail days ago, nor the one inviting me to come here?" Jenny asked her crush.
"I'm sorry, Jenny. I didn't." Rob told her. "I think you're a totally cool girl, but...I'm sorry, I only see you as a friend."
"Oh..." The geeky girl cringed for a moment, before taking a step backwards and faking a smile. "Okay then. I'm...sorry for...assuming that this was from you, Rob."
"It's totally fine. Don't worry about it." Rob then pointed behind himself. "I wish I could stay and chat some more, but me and girlfriend have a movie to watch. I'll hopefully see you around the arcade one of these days."
"Same here."
After that was said, their conversation pretty much ended there. Rob and his girlfriend headed inside, while Jenny just remained standing there, looking at the love letter in her hands feeling very forlorn. James couldn't help but feel sorry for her, especially after she had to discover that not only her crush wasn't her secret admirer, but also that he already has a girlfriend. It wasn't until Jenny sat down at the nearby bench that he finally decided to go over to her so that he can console her.
"Um...hey, Jenny..." James started off saying, speaking in a rather awkward tone of voice.
Jenny immediately turned her head towards her right, seeing her best friend sitting down right next to her. "James?!" She said, sounding very surprised. "When did you get here?! Come to think, what are you doing here?!"
"Oh...just...you know...walking around town..." He chuckled nervously, only to see that Jenny was staring at him with her usual deadpan expression. "That...and I really need to confess something to you...about everything that's been going on involving you and that love letter you've received days ago."
"What do you have to reveal? Rob already told me that he wasn't my 'Secret Admirer'."
"I...could see that..." James cringed for a second, before taking a deep breath. "What I mean is, and you're going to find this crazy...but your secret admirer..." He then paused for a second, taking another deep breath. With a brave face, he finally confessed what he should've confessed to her from the very beginning. "...You're looking at him right now."
Jenny was confused for a second, before she slowly began to realize what the geeky goth was actually talking about. Her usual deadpan expression instantly became that of surprise when she was starting to put together everything that's actually going on. She glanced at the love letter for a second, before pointing at her own best friend, almost at a complete lost for words at what she was now suddenly being told.
"James...it's you?!" Jenny asked. "You're my secret admirer?!"
"Well..." James started off saying, before letting out a nervous chuckle. "I...never actually wanted you to think that you had a secret admirer. I just forgotten to put my name down on the letter when you I placed it in your mailbox earlier this week." He rubs the back of his neck. "Sorry about that..."
"It's totally fine, dude..." Jenny then looked down at the love letter that was still in her hands. "Still...I'm just so surprised to figure out that throughout our entire friendship together...you had feelings for me." She then looked up at him once again. "Why didn't you tell me this before?"
"I was..." The geeky goth gulps, before letting out a nervous sigh. "I was too shy to tell you my true feelings for you. I felt like...if I told you that I had feelings for you either back then or...now...I felt like our friendship would've been ruined."
"Back then? How long have you had feelings for me exactly?" Jenny asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Well...it's hard to say, but I started developing feelings for you ever since we both entered high school together." The geeky girl nodded her head as her best friend continued talking. "Even back then, I didn't know how to tell you, since...for a large majority of high school, you've pretty much fell in love with Ian Arneson."
"Yeah, well...that wasn't until I discovered that he was in love with another girl..." Jenny glanced behind herself at the movie theater building behind her, before facing James again. "Which...ironically enough...is also the reason why I'm not dating Rob either..."
"Honestly, I'm just as surprised as you are to discover that." James said with a cringe. "Sorry that happened, nonetheless though."
"Ah...it's fine. I'm still a bit let down about that though..."
"If it makes you feel any better though...I'm not seeing anybody." Jenny just stared at her best friend with the usual stoic expression she normally has, before seconds later, scoffing out a bit of a laugh while patting on hand on his arm. "So...does that mean we're together now?"
"If you want to date, James...I'm totally cool with that."
"Really?"
"Yeah. You being shy about it or not...I probably would've said 'yes' to you regardless. You and I have known each other since childhood, and we've remained close friends ever since we first met. Not to mention, me and you love a lot of the same things, and we love doing the same things together." She then chuckles, suddenly realizing about their entire past together. "The more that I think of it...I'm actually kind of surprised that I never thought about dating you before." She then felt her hand touch James's hand, before she faced him to speak about everything some more. "I guess what I'm saying is that if you're totally cool with dating each other, than I'm totally cool with dating each other."
James immediately smiled after hearing this said. With how horrible the entire day has been, he wasn't expecting anything good to have even come out of this. He honestly didn't know how a horrible day like this would've ended. After everything that had happened this morning, he would've pretty much called this the worst day in his entire life...and yet, it ended with finally dating his crush. Now that this was really happening to him, he felt like the stress that he went through this morning never even happened. Heck, he never felt so happy in his entire life now that this was really happening. It almost felt too good to be true for him.
"Well...I'm totally cool with it, Jenny." James said.
James and Jenny hugged each other, finally accepting each other as boyfriend and girlfriend. The hug only lasted for about a minute before they finally backed away from each other, still holding each other's hands while staring at each other's eyes. While the two stared at each other, James's smile slowly disappeared as he finally remembered something that he had completely forgotten about during their conversation.
"Wait a second..." He said, before reaching into his jacket and pulling out the letter he had received days ago. "I'm glad we're dating now, but...who's my secret admirer?"
"What are you talking about?" Jenny asked with an eyebrow raised.
James then handed her the love letter in his hands. "I got this in my mailbox days ago, telling me to meet up with somebody here."
After reading the letter silently to herself, she handed it back to her boyfriend. "Well, it wasn't me. But...I did get a love letter from somebody telling me to come here." She then crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow again at her boyfriend. "Unless you placed it in there to finally confess your feelings for me."
"That wasn't me this time."
"Then what the hell is even going on here?"
"Well, you have me to thank for that." A familiar female voice rang out from nearby.
James and Jenny immediately turned their heads towards the direction of the voice, only to see Candy and Sapphire making their way over to them. The two stood up from the bench as the two partiers approached the two. Once the two approached the side of the bench, the geeky couple glanced at each other for a second before facing forward again.
"I'm guessing you had something to do with this, Sapphire..." James said while pointing at the brown-haired partier.
"Isn't it obvious?" Sapphire asked the geeky goth. "After you like, screwed up the first time trying to confess your feelings for Jenny, I felt like I should totally help you out. So, I totally did." She then held a hand towards the two, before continuing to explain everything she did to help them. "I knew you would be too nervous to talk to Jenny if I brought you to a place you two liked, so...I decided to have both of you meet here so that you two can finally confess your love for each other."
"Well...it worked." Jenny said with a shrug.
"Which I'm actually surprised by." James said while nodding his head. "I genuinely thought that listening to you would've only made things worse."
"I always told you that out of everyone in Simport, I'm the girl to talk to about romance problems." Sapphire said with a smile.
"Well...I can't believe I'm going to say this, but thanks Sapphire. You really helped."
"You're welcome."
"Hey James..." Candy said, now entering the conversation. "Now that you and Jenny are a couple now, do you want to join me and Sapphire on a double date together here?"
Jenny cringed after the tomboy asked this. "I hate to break it to you two, but...as much as me and James appreciate the help, we don't really like watching romance movies." She said while James nodded his head in agreement. "If we're going on our first date together, we rather do something we both like to do."
Sapphire then frowned after that was said. "What exactly is your idea of going on a date?" She asked, now rather displeased about this.
It was at this moment, Jenny turned towards her boyfriend with a smirk appearing on her face. "James, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Pick up AppleBee's and go watch 'Back to the Future' at your house?" James asked her with a smile.
"You read my mind, James." After that was said, the geeky duo held hands before walking off to go start their first date.
"They prefer watching 'Back to the Future' together over a romantic movie?!" Sapphire asked while keeping her eyes on the geeky couple leaving the area.
"Eh, those two are total geeks if you ask me. If anything, those two definitely deserve each other if they mutually agreed on that." Candy said with a shrug. "Speaking of which...the movie that we picked should be starting in about a couple minutes. Shall we be heading inside and collecting ourselves some popcorn?"
Sapphire turned towards her girlfriend, before nodding her head with a smile. "Totally." The two held each other's hand as they made their way over to the movie theater's entrance, and then entering the building so that they can enjoy their date together.
