The next day...
Just like how most of her mornings usually are, Katie was by herself while her father was at work. However, instead of sitting around and waiting for her job-shift to start, she decided to take this time to go into town to find Chaz so she can finally talk to him about them dating. After having previously talked with both her father and Crystal about it, she felt like today was a good enough day for her to try to get him to meet the former in order to get their relationship started.
As she was searching the town for the biker, Katie attempted to give Crystal a call. Unfortunately for her, the rebel girl didn't answer, nor did she even reply to any of the texts that she sends her. She wasn't sure if her friend was busy hanging out with the rest of her goth friends, busy with something at her house, or maybe she didn't even bother to bring her phone to wherever she was at right now. She heard absolutely nothing from her best friend. Then again, knowing how upset she was when Katie told her that Chaz was in love with her instead of her rebellious best friend...she couldn't blame her for still being upset about that, even if she was only told this yesterday. After all her attempts failed, Katie decided to leave Crystal be, hoping that she will be able to talk to her when she's not angry about all of this.
During her search, Katie eventually found where Chaz, who was busy at his job at the auto-shop. She found his car parked in the alley-way that was to the left side of the building, prompting her to check inside the building to see if the biker was there. When she investigated, she saw Chaz fixing the inside of one of the cars that had came in the shop earlier this morning. Stepping into the building, Katie finally decided to inform her friend of her presence.
"Hey Chaz!" Katie said as loud as she could to get the biker's attention.
Chaz peeked behind his own shoulder seeing the tomboy behind him for a few seconds, before facing forward again at the car engine he was currently working on. It took a couple more seconds before the biker suddenly realized who was right behind him, and when he did, he immediately turned around. The causally bored expression that he had on when he looked at her was now a look of both surprised, and yet, a hint of shock.
"Katie?!" Chaz nearly shouts, sounding as if he doesn't want the tomboyish dentist to actually be here. "What are you doing here?!"
"I...came here to find you, Chaz." Katie said, raising an eyebrow at him. "I wanted to talk to you about...you know...our conversation a few days ago."
"Well, I'm glad you want to talk about it, but now is a really bad time for you to be here!"
"Why?"
"Chaz!" The sound of a much older man shouts from the nearby hallway.
Both Chaz and Katie turned their heads towards the hallway that was just close by, seeing a man entering the room. He appeared to be a man in his mid-forties, with hair that was a light brown hair that was visibly turning gray and was wearing a dark blue mechanics jumpsuit. The expression on his face was one filled with anger, however, just from the look on his face alone, one could also say that he appeared to be drunk as well. Since he was the oldest adult in this building, Katie could only assume that this man was Chaz's father.
"I've got a call from the people who own that car that you're working on! They're getting impatient! What's taking you so long to work on it?!" The older man shouts at the biker.
"You know, dad...I would be getting this car fixed a hell of a lot faster if you weren't screaming about it every few seconds." Chaz muttered as he searched for another tool in the toolbox next to him. "I'm almost done with it."
"Good to know, because I'm getting sick of those assholes pestering us about it." Chaz's father then took notice of Katie standing close by. She was just staring at him with an awkward cringe on her face. "Who the heck are you?"
"Um...I'm Katie..." The tomboy said. "I'm friends with your son."
"Oh great...another harlot my son's friends with..." Chaz's father muttered, causing a disgusted expression to appear on young dentist's face. "I wonder how long it's going to take until you break his heart next."
'Wow, I guess everyone was right when they said that Chaz's dad is an asshole...' Katie said in her thoughts as she kept her glare on the biker's father.
"Dad, that's enough." Chaz said glaring at his father now. "Katie and I are friends, and we've been friends ever since Summer dumped me. She's one of the nicest girls I've ever met."
"Yeah...I'm sure she is." Chaz's father said with a scoff, before taking a sip from a can of beer that he had in his hand. "Anyways...I'm going to see if there's anyone else coming to the auto-shop later today. Keep working on that car, Charles." After the mechanic said that, he left to go back to the room he was previously in before leaving his son alone with Katie once again.
"Oh thank God...he left..." Chaz muttered as he proceeded to fix the car he was currently working on. "Sorry about that, Katie. My dad's the last person I ever wanted you to meet."
"I'm totally fine. Although...I don't think I've ever wanted to punch somebody in the mouth so badly until I met your dad." Katie muttered as she pulled up a stool from one of the nearby workbenches to sit down. "No offense..."
"Oh, don't worry about it." Chaz rolled his eyes, keeping his focus on the engine he's currently fixing still. "After my parents divorced, he's been nothing more but an angry drunk ever since. Everyday, he either does absolutely nothing to help me or Tim, or he just sits around and barks orders at us." He scoffs to himself, before standing back up from the hood of the car. "Tell you...one of these days, me and Tim are quitting this place and finding ourselves our own auto-shop, so we don't have to work for that son of a bitch ever again."
"After what I've seen of your dad so far, I'm guessing that's wishful thinking."
"Yeah." Chaz then pulled out another tool from the toolbox nearby, before turning his gaze over to Katie again. "I guess I should now be asking, what are you even doing here anyway?"
"I was trying to find you, Chaz. I wanted to talk about...us being together."
Chaz raises an eyebrow at her. "So...you want to get together now, I take it?" Katie nodded her head to what the biker asked her. "What made you decide that you want to date me?"
"Well..." Katie places her hands in her jacket pockets, leaning back onto the stool behind her. "...You can thank Sapphire for that. She came to my house when the storm hit the other day, and we talked it out a bit...and I don't know how, but she made me realize that I have feelings for you." She then rubbed the back of her neck, now standing up from the stool she was sitting on. "So, um...are you still interested in dating me?"
"Of course I am." Chaz places the tool he had in his hand aside, before turning his direction towards the tomboy. "Even after you rejected me, I still had some sort of hope that you'd probably change your mind." Katie smiled, as the biker continued to talk. "But...what about your dad though?"
"I was just getting to that." Katie's confident smile became that of a worried cringe. "So...I already know that you're gonna think that this is a very stupid idea, but..."
"Let me guess...you want me to meet your dad?" Chaz asked the tomboy, interrupting her before she could finish her sentence.
"Um...yeah..." Katie said, both confused and surprised by what Chaz had said. "How did you know I was going to say that?"
"Sapphire gave me the same advice when I was at Club Candy the other night." The biker then faces forward, proceeding to fix the car engine in front of him. "I'll tell you this, I'm cool with that idea, but I doubt your dad would allow us to date after discovering that me and Summer went to your house without him knowing about it."
"Well, he knows about that now."
After hearing that said, Chaz immediately turned his head towards Katie with a shocked look on his face. "How did he figure out about the hangout?!"
"I...might've told him about it yesterday morning." The tomboy then held up her hands in a defensive manner, proceeding to reassure the biker about that situation. "Also, before you jump to any conclusions, my dad's totally fine with it. Granted, he was very disappointed in me for keeping this secret for days on end, but we worked things out."
"He's really okay with it?" Chaz asked with a raised eyebrow, causing his friend to nod her head in response. "Here I thought that he'd be forbidding us to see each other if he were to figure out about that."
"Like I said, he's totally cool about it." Katie then places her hands in her pockets, raising an eyebrow at the biker again. "So...what do you say, Chaz? Want to come over to my house after work so that you can finally meet my dad?"
Chaz nodded his head at the tomboy's question. "Well, I guess if it's what it takes for us to be together. Sure."
"Awesome." Katie then stood up from her stool and then gave the biker a high-five. "Well, my work-shift starts in about thirty minutes, so I really must be going now. Both me and my dad work until five, so you can meet with us around that time."
"Alright." Chaz turned back towards the car he was currently fixing. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to..."
"One more thing, dude." Katie interrupts, causing Chaz to turn his head towards her. "Before you come to the house, you might want to brush your teeth. I can tell you forgotten to brush today just from your breath alone." The tomboy reaches into her jacket, pulling out a toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste, and a small container of floss. She hands them over to the biker, who just stared at them with indifference.
"I take it you carry these things your jacket everywhere you go, huh?" He asked in a rather monotone voice.
Katie just gave the biker a smile as she backed away towards the auto-shop's exit. "Hey, you're going to be dating a dentist after tonight, Chaz. You might like me because I'm cool, but keeping teeth clean comes first when it comes to me." She then runs out the garage door while tossing her skateboard down in front of her, then hopped onto it so that she can head off to work. "I'll see you tonight, dude!" Katie shouts as she left.
"I'll see you tonight!" Chaz shouts back, waving at the tomboy as she left.
After the tomboy had left, Chaz decides to look down at the three items that he had received from her in his hand. Knowing Katie, he wasn't surprised to be given something like a toothbrush from her. Heck, he still remembered the day that he first visited the Morris's House, and he saw that there were plenty of toothbrushes on either the tables in the hallway or under the bathroom sink. He still found it odd that he was given these things from her. Regardless of such, he kept the three dentistry items in his jacket, then continued to fix the car that was in front of him.
Note: So this took a lot longer than I was hoping for. Like always, a lot of things in my personal life kept getting in the way and distracting me from trying to write my stories. But, thankfully, I was able to get this chapter done. Here's hoping that I won't take too long trying to write again.
