Amy's run turned into a sludgy walk as she made her way down the sidewalk away from the school. In the heat of the moment, she didn't realize how far away she had actually gotten while she was running. She looked up from the rock she was kicking to see the small diner that her and blaze ate at before. Realizing she was a bit hungry, or maybe just wanting to emotionally eat, she decided she would go inside. The bell hanging on the door chimed as she entered and sat at the bar. "I'll have an order of cheese fries and a chocolate shake," she ordered. The brown hedgehog boy working scribbled her order on his little pad. "One order of cheese fries!" he hollered to the cook in the kitchen and then slapped the paper onto the hanging board at the window for him. The man then approached the blender to make her milkshake.
Amy sighed and laid her face in her hands. She felt out of her own skin. She felt like she was a failure, like she did something unforgiveable. She knew that the whole school would find out soon enough what had happened, and that frightened her. How could I show my face at that place again? She silently contemplated. She didn't notice the hedgehog was making his way towards her until he was already sliding the glass across the counter top towards her. His name was Jim, as Amy had learned after coming to this usual spot with her friend Blaze. "Thanks, Jim," Amy said half heartedly. Jim raised a brow. "Amy, right"? Is there something wrong?" he asked. He seemed genuinely concerned. He had kind hazel eyes and a dorky smile that could brighten up anyone's day. Amy new he only had good intentions in asking that question, but the way she uncomfortably shifted in her seat while looking away from him let him know that she didn't feel like discussing her problems with him. Why would she? Just tell anyone who asks that the two boys I had feelings for hurt me? Yea,, right. Breaking the awkward silence was the jingle of the door as a family of four foxes arrived and needed a seat. "If you need anything, I'm here," Jim said as he made his way towards the family. Amy could only muster up a half smile and a nod. She was relieved that he left her alone, at least for a little bit. She looked towards the door to the kitchen as the cook emerged with her fries and set them in front of her. "Hope you enjoy them, looks like you need something to brighten your day," he said with a smile. Dang, does everyone see that I'm upset? Is there a big ass sign on my back that says "Hello! I'm depressed, pity me!"
Just as Amy dug into her fries, the door jingled again. This time when Amy looked up, she wasn't too happy. Standing at the counter to be seated was a tall green hedgehog with icy blue eyes, jeans, and a leather jacket. Amy tried to sink into her chair, she didn't want to be seen by him today. She didn't want to see him ever again for that matter. Scourge's ears perked when he saw Amy Rose sitting at the counter, back turned towards him. Amy felt Scourge's presence approaching her.
"Amy Rose, shouldn't you be in class right now? It's 11:00" Scourge picked at the usually good girl that was skipping class. "Scourge! Please leave me alone, as you asked me to do for you," Amy replied as she sipped her milkshake. "Amy-" "Go away!" she half yelled. The diner went silent, and Amy looked around to see eyes on her, scowls and snickers around the room. Amy stood from her seat and pulled some cash from her pocket, setting it on the table. "Keep the change, Jim," Amy said as she made her way towards the door. "Amy wait," Scourge said as he followed her.
"Scourge, why are you doing this to me? You kiss me one day and the next you're f*****g some other girl?!" Amy cried as she tried to leave him. Scourge grabbed her arm. "Amy, there is something you need to know. First of all, I told you to stay away from me because I know that all I would do is hurt you. You are too pure, too perfect, and I wouldn't want my dark past to bring you down with me. Amy, I would go to the ends of the earth for you, hell I would kill for you, but I don't want to steal your innocence. I keep myself from having feelings. I shut people out. The second I met you I felt a spark. I had to push it away so that you wouldn't get hurt. Amy, I'm truly sorry," Scourge said. During this, Amy and him had slowly gotten closer to each other. Scourge was holding Amy's arms firmly, she could feel his breath on her face as he said those words. The words stung her deep in her heart; she pulled away slowly. "Scourge...I...uh...I need to be alone," she said as she turned her face away from him. Something about the look in his eye didn't sit right with her. It was as if his soul longed for her but he wouldn't let it free. Amy couldn't bear to sit there any longer, she had to get away from this boy that was pulling strings too deep for her to cut. Just as Amy pulled away from him, he followed after her. "Amy, we need to talk about something," he said. Amy's eyes went wide from the serious tone he was giving her. "About what?" she huffed. Scourge scratched the back of his neck and looked at the concrete. "There is something you should know about the party we went to," he said solemnly.
Amy froze in her tracks, not prepared in the slightest for what she was about to be told.
