Chapter 3: The Fire
*The Next Day*
Mia walked into the Angel headquarters, once again standing outside Jim's office. She was wearing her usual panda eye makeup, her jet black shoulder length hair all pulled to the left, and her nails painted black. She was wearing a long-sleeved black top, a black leather jacket with pockets all over with silver zips, black cargo pants with silver chains and black doc marten boots. She knocked on Jim's door.
Jim: Come in Mia!
Mia walked in to see Jim sitting at his desk, she sat opposite him and he smiled at her kindly.
Mia: So, what have you got for me today Jim?
Jim: Oh you're going to love this!
Mia: Something about that tone tells me I'm not going to love it.
Jim's smile grew wider.
Jim: There are no cases that you can help with tonight so you are on patrol.
Mia groaned.
Mia: Patrols are so boring! Hardly anything ever happens.
She stopped and thought about it for a second.
Mia: Although the last case was really heavy so it might be nice to do something light, just be chill with it.
Jim: True. Please patrol the manhatten neighbourhood looking for trouble, it usually finds you.
Mia grinned wickedly.
Jim: You're on night shift.
Mia groaned again.
Mia: Night shift?! You've gotta be kidding me!
Jim: Sorry kid, I don't make the rules.
Jim smiled again, the smile almost a playful smirk. Mia rose an eyebrow.
Mia: Kid? I'm older than you Jim. And although you find the assignments, I am actually your boss and not the other way round, remember?
Jim cleared his throat, becoming serious.
Jim: I'm sorry, I didn't mean-
Mia laughed.
Mia: Relax Jim, I'm only messing with ya.
Jim relaxed, smiling.
Jim: Right.
Mia: Well, I'm off to patrol, see ya later!
Jim simply nodded as Mia exited the office. Mia walked out of the Angel HQ and onto the streets of New York, waverly place Manhatten to be precise. She began her patrol looking out for anything unusual or anyone in any trouble.

*A few hours later*
She had yet to find anything and it was getting late. That was when she noticed a building in the distance, smoke coming from the roof. She teleported over to investigate. The building was a night club and it was on fire! Mia immediately rushed to try the door. The door was wedged shut!
Mia: Hello?
There was no answer. Mia quickly called the fire brigade to come to the scene to put out the fire. They said they would be there as soon as they could. They told Mia to stay put but she was not going to listen. After all, she was already dead, the fire couldn't hurt her. Mia knocked on the door once more.
Mia: Hello?
Once again, there was no answer.
Mia: If anyone can hear me, please stand back from the door! I'm going to kick it in and I'm going to save you. Ready!
She didn't receive an answer once again. She counted to three and then kicked the door in. Upon surveying the place, it was only a small establishment, and luckily there weren't many people in the building. There appeared to be one bartender and three customers and one bar tender. The customers were all passed out. There was two customers with blonde hair, a girl and a guy, and one guy with brown hair. The bartender was still awake but just barely. The bartender had naturally red hair and green almond shaped eyes from what Mia could see. The bartender's name tage read 'Jonothan'.
Mia: Jonothan?
Jonothan looked up at her.
Mia: I'm going to get you all out of here, okay?
Jonothan nodded.
Mia: Now listen to me, okay? It's very important.
Jonothan nodded again, doing his best to give Mia his full attention.
Mia: Apart from yourself and these three customers, is there anyone else here? Any staff on shift, any customers in the bathroom?
Jonothan shook his head.
Mia: You're sure?
Jonothan nodded again.
Mia: Ok. Let's get out of here.
Mia helped Jonothan stand and led him out the building, setting him down a great distance away. She went back and forth taking out the other two blonde customers and setting them next to Jonothan. She then went back in to get the brunette boy. Upon further inspection she could see his leg was pinned under a table. She lifted the table trying to be as gentle as possible. She placed the table aside and could see that this boy had a nasty wound on his leg from where the table had pinned him. She frowned and gently picked him up, heading outside. She was barely out off the building when she heard an explosion come from inside the building. Her eyes widened and she began ranning with the boy. She made it to the others just as the building fully exploded.
Mia: That was a close one.
She set the brunette boy gently down next to the others. The two blonde customers were both awake now, both coughing from the smoke inhalation.
Mia: How is everyone?
She looked at them concerned, they all gave her thumbs up. She turned away from them so they wouldn't see and clicked her fingers producing a backpack, pretending she'd left it there in the street when she went to save them. She walked over and picked up the backpack and then sat down next to them. She produced four water's from the backpacking handing one each to each of the three blondes. The brunette boy still had yet to wake up. They all nodded their thanks. Mia turned her attention to the brunette. She noticed he had a wand sticking out of his pocket, telling Mia he was a wizard. She paid attention to his breathing when all of a sudden his breathing stopped. She waited a second but it didn't start again.
Mia: He's not breathing!
She immediately started doing chest compressions, and the gave him the kiss of life. He gasped for and she went to pull back, relieved, but he pulled her in again, kissing her! She blushed, looking embarrassed. He pulled back, looking surprised, for the first time taking in his surroundings.
Mia: Look at me. You're ok. You were in a fire but you're safe now. My name is Mia.
Max: Max. Max Russo.
