Note: Please understand that this is my first fanfic around the idea of GATE, I know what I want to do but criticism is very appreciated and I hope I can at least catch your interest comrade if something isn't clear enough then tell me and I will have it corrected by next chapter, also please understand that I may publish new chapters very sporadically as I sadly don't have all the time I would like to, but I promise to not abandon this idea, English is not my first language thus I ask of you to point out to me if I misused some words or if what I wrote wasn't understandable.

GATE: Red Dawn, a harsh morning

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics during celebrations of the October Revolution on the 7th of November of 1917 now being commemorated in the year 2020, President Gorbachev managed to ease tensions with The United States of America and the West in general, except for the Federal Republic of Germany which by this point had been remilitarized intensively by NATO and some tensions reignited after Turkey switched sides due to a coup of dubious origins, but that Sunday was going to be a turning point not only for the USSR and the Warsaw Pact but for the USA and NATO, both sides of the iron curtain would be affected by this new factor which could prove as either the biggest success for the USSR or make it go in a downwards.

-7/11/2020- Red Square, Moscow-

Here we have comrade Kravchuk Yuriy who although may indeed be a soldier for the Red Army he wishes to become something greater than himself, he has always been interested in writing fantasy but he never got around writing it and he has also read various western books which the USSR only allowed peer-reviewed books to be published and distributed in its territory, but he was currently on his way to meet a few of his friends who were going to a book exhibition from various Soviet writers and a few from other Warsaw Pact countries, the festival which is away from Red Square and included a lot of revolutionary books.

But what was about to happen wasn't something someone would want to see, especially as Red Square will for a while honor its namesake color as a mysterious light has started to appear in Red Square in front of Lenin's Mausoleum while an honor guard from the Red Army is marching to revolutionary songs the light has been growing more and more, security personnel in the area has already noticed of the weird light and are observing with caution as the people are looking at the marching men and women who have their ceremonial uniforms but are not ready to fight either way soon the tanks will be displayed in the march.

Comrade Kravchuk Yuriy was outside the State Museum of History checking to see if his friends finally arrived, they hadn't arrived and in fact, weren't even close to the area, thus Yuriy kept waiting but noticed that something odd was going on in the space near Lenin's Mausoleum, but he thought that his brain may be messing with him.

The light has been growing and now was about to reach the floor but by now the people had seen the light and everyone was questioning what they were seeing from thinking they may need sleep to the thought it was the government doing a light show but what no one thought is that a portal to another world was opening right in front of them, as the structure appeared the honor guard stopped marching and the security which was there started to surround it from a safe distance, after a while a sound could be heard from beyond the structure which by now looked completely solid, that sound which at first looked incomprehensible with the passing seconds it sounded more and more like something marching, then the sounds got more and more intense striking an odd sense of dread within anyone nearby but the KGB, security and the honor guard which even though didn't have the proper weaponry would discover they are fighting a technologically inferior nation? bandits? no one knew but what was important is that all hell was about to break loose.

Comrade Kravchuk Yuriy has decided to call his friends to discover that a sudden military patrol stopped them and a perimeter was being established surrounding Red Square, whatever was about to come must be dangerous, and soon after he saw a few Roman looking soldiers exit the structure in tight formations and advancing slowly, it seemed like a small contingent which makes sense if one wants to scout with a semi considerable force in case the natives were aggressive from the start, but what didn't make sense is that after these dispersed a little from the thing an Orc was following them and Yuriy was suddenly very worried and wanted to get out but the sheer imagery was very mesmerizing and perplexing in such a way that he couldn't move a muscle.

It seemed like some nightmare on earth was about to be released but then anticlimactically to a lot of people who hadn't had the time to exit in an orderly fashion, as a few security guards, KGB members, and an honorary guard killed most of them but the Orc which after such a display of force surrendered and tried to communicate that, they noticed but no one is going to trust an orc that a few seconds ago wanted to presumably kill you, now whether or not the intentions of this mysterious "enemy" which may have not been an enemy but probably is ended before it could be a threat to any civilians, now a portal to another world was opened but the reasons of such an intrusion and the uncertainty canceled any celebrations in Red Square.

Red Square, Moscow, 9th of November 2020

The structure under the KGB was named object Nu. 4914 or better know as GATE, at least that's what the released documents say, but nevertheless, a temporary structure was built which had no blindspot for the Red Army to shoot from at any possible enemy that may enter from the GATE, it seemed like everything went well and the captured orc was in the area, linguists trying to translate what he was saying to them and what was the objective of such a mission into the USSR, and how the Politburo was reacting to this, this issue was soon going to get politicized by various politicians, Gorbashov is close to his expected time of life and new elections are coming up, questions of how this will affect his campaign are various and many wonder what will happen with what's supposedly beyond the GATE which looked like an endless tunnel of darkness which had a dot of light at the end, it wasn't clear what was going to happen and Gorbashov hadn't spoken about the matter outside of meetings with military personnel, the KGB and some government agencies, but NATO and the USA were bound to eventually know about he current situation and rumours about what happened have already spread far and wide within the Warsaw Pact and the PRC, the political situation of the USSR couldn't be as uncertain regarding something, chaos was bound to happen especially once the United Nations was notified and had a new session in a few months, how the Soviets act may seal a different fate and various political parties already made their stance regarding this issue, from wishes of invasion to wishes of it being a misunderstanding and peace, some were more pragmatic and thought that maybe something could be won there without a fullscale military invasion but only the future will tell.
