Molly Hale couldn't be happier right now. And that was something that a few hours ago she didn't think would be possible again.
After her dad left on that journey to study some old ruins somewhere in the Hoenn region, she felt really lonely in the huge mansion that she called home. The servants and the staff tried their best to keep her company, but since she was so young, they really couldn't do much. The one thing that kept her happy was that her dad would come back soon, tuck her in bed and tell her another story about Entei traveling the world.
And then came the news. Her dad was gone.
Not dead, not injured or in the hospital. He was just gone. Disappeared without a trace. Just like her mom.
Her entire world had flipped on its head at that moment. She vaguely remembered stumbling away from the door, tears in her eyes as people behind her called her name in a vain attempt to get her to stop. She remembered running through the whole mansion, from her dad's old study all the way to the entrance.
And that's where she found them.
At first she thought it was just a box of old tiles to play around with, but the moment she started spelling with them, what they really were was revealed as the letters glowed and the pokemon emerged from them. They were strange beings, unlike any pokemon that Molly had ever seen. They were jet black, thin except for a big round part with one eye that shone with intelligence and curiosity. They all looked like letters and they floated around her, as the tiles where they came from glowed a bright blue.
And from there, everything had been going great. The Pokemon had managed to bring her dad back, in the form of a really big and powerful Entei, like he always said he was to her at night. They had turned the boring old mansion into a really pretty castle made of crystal that she could see was growing bigger and bigger, driving away the humans that had taken her parents away for the first time. And greatest of all, her dad had managed to get her a new mom as well!
The three were currently sitting in her new huge crystal bedroom, watching the large television that was sitting across from the bed, which was showing everything that was happening outside.
"This is really fun, isn't it Mama?" she asked her mom, who simply stared forwards at the television
"Yes dear" she said in a sleepy sounding voice
"What's wrong with Mama, Papa?" she asked her dad. The large pokemon rumbled for a second before walking closer to the woman
"She is fine, child" he said, his voice echoing inside her head "She just to get accustomed to living in the castle. She will be fine in a while"
"That's good! She sounds a bit tired. Maybe a nap would help!" Molly suggested with a kind smile
"I believe you are correct" Papa said, looking at her new mom. Suddenly, she yawned and laid back, quiet snores escaping from her as she fell into a deep sleep "She should be perfectly fine when she awakes"
"Thank you Papa!" Molly chirped before turning back to the screen. Her eyes went wide at what she saw. Instead of just seeing the pretty and shiny fields of crystal, she saw a boy with spiky black hair and a pokemon across his shoulder running through, dodging the spikes of crystal that shot out the ground.
"Ash wait up!" Molly heard another voice offscreen shout, this one sounding like a girl's "You can't do this alone ya big idiot!"
"I'm not waiting around another second!" the boy, apparently name Ash, shouted back as he kept running "My mom is in there and Arcues knows what that Entei is doing to her!"
"His mom?" Molly asked, looking at the sleeping woman and back at the screen. The image shimmered for a second as it changed angle, allowing Molly to get a good look at the boy's face. Her eyes went wide as she looked back and forth between the screen and the face of the sleeping woman next to her. Despite the different hair color, she could see quite a few similarities between the two. "Oh Ho-Oh…." she muttered, frowning for a split second as a strange feeling bubbled in her stomach. But as she did that, she heard a light humming ringing in her ears, and a quick flash of blue light in front of her. The feeling in her belly evaporated instantly and the frown disappeared "Huh, that was weird…" she muttered as she looked back at the screen. She saw that boy pull out more pokemon and blast a hole in the crystal walls in an attempt to get inside.
"Do you want them to go away?" Papa asked her.
"No" Molly said with a smile as she looked at the boy, who commanded his pokemon to try again. "That boy said that Mama was his mother. Do you know what that means?"
"I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean, no" Papa said, his face stoic
"That means he's my brother!" Molly squealed "Why didn't you tell me I had a brother?"
"If you wish him to be so" Papa said mysteriously. Molly giggled at that. Ever since he came back, Papa had been talking like that quite a bit. It was a bit weird
"Yeah I do" Molly said with a smile "I mean, I always wanted a younger brother. To have someone to have fun little pokemon battles, and have him always be happy to play with me!"
"If you wish that, all you have to do is think about it," Papa said.
"Ok Papa" Molly giggled as she laid down and stared at the ceiling, closing her eyes.
Ash Ketchum growled as he stared at the wall of crystal in front of him. Whatever this stuff was, it was damn indestructible. So far, he had Pikachu blast it with lightning, Chikorita blasting it with Razor Leaf and Totodile blast it with a jet of high pressure water. So far, none of it had even scratched the surface.
"ASH!" a shout from behind rang out. Glancing, he saw his two friends, Misty and Brock, running up to him "WAIT UP!"
"I told you, I'm not waiting another second!" Ash growled as he pulled out another pokeball, and threw it down "Cyndaquill!"
"Cyn!" the little pokemon called as it was released.
"Ash slow down for a second!" Misty screeched at him, much to the raven haired boy's frustration.
"Why!? My mom is in there! Every second I spend out here arguing is another minute that that Entei or those Unown can do things to her! I'm not waiting for another second! Cyndaquill, hit the wall with Flamethrower!"
"Cyn!" the pokemon chirped with a nod, and blasted the crystal wall with a stream of bright red flames. The flames licked the wall and at first it seemed like all the other attempts, but soon a loud crack rang out through the mostly empty valley. The crack was followed by another even louder one, and one last giant crash that left Ash's ears ringing slightly. But right there, there was a whole leading right inside.
"Perfect! Great job Cyndaquill!" Ash exclaimed. But before he could say anything else, the wall began to shimmer as the crystal started to regrow, slowly sealing the entrance he had just made "No!"
"Ash! Come on, you can't get in there on your own!" Misty exclaimed behind him "We need to get back to town and plan out something, not just rush in!"
"If you want to go back, go ahead!" Ash spat "I'm not leaving without my mom. Totodile! Use Hydro Pump! See if the water can stop it from growing!"
"Toto!" the small lizard nodded, turning to the hole and taking a deep breath. He opened his mouth and shot out a huge torrent of water, with an amount of pressure that Ash had never seen before. It blasted right in the hole, and the growing crystal stopped right as it touched the water, leaving the whole a decent size.
"Good work Totodile" Ash cheered
"Pika!" the yellow electric type agreed, jumping onto Ash's shoulder as the boy turned over and stared at the hole, determination shining in his eyes.
"Ash!" Misty exclaimed once again. But this time Ash didn't answer, instead he returned Cyndaquill and Chikorita to their pokeballs and nodded at Pikachu. "Ash! Come on! We need to head back! Professor Oak said he mi-"
Ash didn't even wait for her to finish. Instead he reached down and grabbed Totodile. The water type didn't stop blasting out water, instead he put even more effort into the water blast as Ash ran ahead, jumping straight through the hole
"ASH!" both of his friends shouted, rushing over as the crystal began to reseal itself
"GO BACK TO TOWN!" he shouted at the two "I'LL MEET YOU BACK THERE WITH MY MOM!"
Right before the two could answer, the crystal sealed completely, leaving Ash sitting alone in a dark room, with only Pikachu and Totodile with him.
"Pika? Pikachu?" his best friend chirped up
"Don't worry pal, we'll be fine" Ash reassured him as he returned Totodile to his pokeball "Now come on. Let's go find my mom!"
Ash and Pikachu waited a few minutes in that room to catch their breath after the running they did through the crystal fields. The room around them seemed to shimmer with light, despite the fact that none could be seen anywhere near them.
"Pika?" the small yellow pokemon asked his trainer as he looked around. The place just seemed off to the pokemon. The whole area appeared to be unstable at its core, with the crystals shimmering and slightly shifting, as if they were waiting for the correct moment to split into pieces.
"Don't worry buddy" Ash said, as he pulled out a water bottle from his backpack. He ripped off the cap and took a huge drink, before handing it to Pikachu "we'll get my mom back soon"
"Pika…" the small electric type groaned, used to his friend not being able to understand him. He took the bottle and sipped some.
"Right…. Now how do we get out of here?" Ash muttered, looking around. The room they found themselves in. It was a tall room, with no clear door or exit. He walked up to the nearest wall and laid his hand on the crystal. It was strangely warm, as if he was touching a Pokemon's back instead of a chunk of minerals. The moment his hand touched it, the crystal sparked and began to move.
"PIKA!"
"HOLY CRAP!" Ash shouted as he jumped backwards. The entire room began to shake and tremble, all of the crystals began to glow a bright blue. He stumbled as the ground shook more and more, turning from a small tremor into an outright earthquake, small bits of the overhead crystals falling down. "WHAT'S HAPPENING!?" Ash shouted, shielding his eyes as the lights of the crystal became stronger and stronger.
"PIKA!" Pikachu screeched as he did the same. The light became stronger and stronger as the quake did the same.
But then it just stopped.
Ash and Pikachu stood there for a good minute, panting with their hands still covering their eyeballs as the lights went down.
"I-Is it over?" Ash asked, not moving his hands
"Oh yes! It is!" a high pitched voice said. Ash looked around, his eyes wide.
"Who said that!?" he shouted, clenching his fists tightly.
"I did silly!" the voice giggled again, as another flash of light appeared in front of him. This time the light was a dark blue and moved around like a blob from a lava lamp. The brightness went down as it moved to the floor in front of Ash and began to take a more definite shape.
That of a small girl with a blue dress, brown boots and a blue bow in her head. She gave Ash a friendly little smile, but the raven haired trainer gave her the opposite
"YOU!" he growled "Your the one controlling that Entie!"
"Controlling?" she said, looking completely shocked for a second, before laughing again "Hehehe, I'm not controlling Papa!"
"Sure you're no…...Wait, Papa?!" Ash repeated, confusion painting his face
"Pika pika?!" Pikachu said, looking just as confused
"Yeah! Its my Papa, who else could it be?"
"Um…. S-Shouldn't your Papa be human?" Ash asked, looking around the room. It seemed either the lights or the quake closed off any way out of the room. "Right….so I'm stuck in the same room as a crazy girl who thinks a Legendary is her dad…" he muttered, getting a small nod from Pikachu.
"Papa used to be human, but then disappeared for a bit… But the letters brought him back!" Molly said with a big smile
"Letters?" Ash said, confused "What letters?" before the girl could answer, a strange chant began to ring around him. "W-What's that?"
"It's the letters!" Molly said with a big smile as the walls behind her seemed to shiver slightly. The raven haired trainer's eyes went wide as he Pokemon ooze out of the walls. They were small, each with one big eye and bodies shaped like letters.
"U-Unown!" he shouted, stepping back as he saw more and more of the strange psychic pokemon crawling out of the walls, as if they weren't even there. They began to fly in a circle around the three, their chanting growing stronger.
"Oh that's what they're called!" Molly said with a giggle, as one of the Unown rubbed against he cheek as it circled them "I always wondered. I just found them in a box Papa left me, and they started making things better!"
"W-Wait, Unown did this?" the trainer said "T-That makes no sense! U-Unown aren't this powerful! T-They can barely make themselves float…"
"I remember Papa saying that there's needs to be a whole alphabet for them to be powerful…. And I had an entire alphabet in that box!" she said with a big smile. As that happened, the Unown began to glow white.
"W-What are they doing?" Ash asked, worry clear on his face
"Oh don't worry. Their just making sure things go back to how their meant to be. Little brother"
"What did you- GAH!" Ash groaned, clutching his stomach as the Unown began their work. They closed in on him as they chanted faster and faster. His whole body felt like it was being squeezed in a vice, tighter and tighter as they grew closer. Looking over, he saw that Pikachu was in much the same situation, doubled over as his body began to glow with white energy.
"Yeah! You said that Mama was your mom!" Molly said with a smile "So that makes you my little brother!"
"What!?" N-No!" Ash groaned, as the glow began to spread to his skin. He looked down, his eyes wide as he saw blemishes on it, old scrapes, dirt, sunburns evaporate into nothingness, along with any hairs on it. "S-Stop it…. Please!"
"Don't worry, it won't for long little bro!" she said with a giggle
"M-Molly, please!" Ash shouted as his jacket fell to the floor, too big to fit him properly anymore as the floor got closer and closer. His belt clattered to the floor, the pokeballs rolling off as it hit the floor.
"Heh, silly little Ash" Molly giggled as she grabbed one of them "You're too young to be training pokemon!"
"S-Stwop this!" Ash said, gasping as he heard his voice. He looked at Molly and gulped, she was taller than him now. "P-Pwease Molly. C-Changwe me bwack"
"Why would I do that?" Molly giggled "This is what you're supposed to look like! Though it looks like you went playing in Papa's closet!" she giggled.
Ash groaned as he shrank even more, squeezing his eyes shut tight as the power washed over him again. He felt his teeth tremble as all his adult teeth returned to baby teeth, and one even disappeared completely. He gasped and opened his eyes, tripping over his own shirt as he looked around, fear shining in his eyes.
His old clothes were now like a tent, his hat alone covered half his face.
"Chu?" came a little squeak from next to him. Looking over, eyes wide he gasped as he saw a small Pichu, trembling in fear as it looked over its body
"P-Pikwachu?" he stammered out, shocked to see his best friend changed like him.
"P-Pichu?" the former Pikachu asked back, moving closer to Ash, glaring at Molly all the while.
"Aw you're adorable!" she squeaked "Though better get you some better clothes" she nodded at the Unown, who began to chant and spin again. Ash braced himself for more of the horrible squeezing, but this time only the clothes he was buried in glowed. They morphed and shifted to fit his new body. His black T-Shirt adjusted itself for his new 4 year old body, his jeans turned into shorts that fit and his socks and shoes shrank to fit his new feet.
His jacket and hat however, weren't as lucky. The pair of clothes floated for a second before disappearing in a flash of light
"Hey! My hwat!" Ash shouted, growling at Molly "Stwop this! You bwig meanie!" his eyes went wide as he realised what he said, covering his mouth and looked around. The Unown were still spinning and glowing. His eyes went wide as he realised what they were about to do "Molly! Stwop them! Pwease! I dwon't want to fo-" he stopped mid-sentence as the Unown unleashed Hidden Power. His brain went completely blank for a few seconds. The chanting started up again as they began to fill in blanks.
"My nwane is Ash Hale…" he muttered, his brown eyes going dull as his old persona was erased and replaced "Molly is my bwig sister…. She takes cware of mwe….. Kweeps mwe swafe from the bad people outside our house…..Mama and Papa love us bwoth…. They dwo anythwing to kweep us happy…." a dumb smile formed on his face as he stared ahead, Pichu doing the same. Molly giggled as he spoke the Unown disappearing back into the crystal walls.
"Ash" she called with a laugh "Wakey wakey, slowpoke"
"Huh?" he blinked, his eyes still dull as he stared up at his big sister "Heheh, sowwy sis! I gwot distwacted"
"Chu!" Pichu giggled and nodded, climbing onto Ash's shoulder
"Hmm, sorry isn't good enough mister" Molly said with a smile "Guess it's time for a visit by the ticklemon!" she ran her fingers over Ash's belly, making the now little boy burst out in laughter, falling on his back
"HAHAHAHAH! STWOP IT SIS!" he giggled, tears streaming down his face from the laughing "IM SOWWY FOR FALLWING SLWEEP!"
"Heh, alright. I forgive you" she said with a small laugh as she helped him to his wobbly feet "Come on Ash, Mama and Papa are waiting for us"
"Yay!" he cheered, a big smile on his face "I hopwe Papa will lwet us wide on his bwack!"
"I think he will" Molly said, as a doorway opened in the crystal wall, leading to a crystal staircase "Now remember, be careful on the stairs"
"Ywes bwig sis" he nodded, taking slow steps on the stairs. He grinned at her as she followed right behind him.
"Good work Ash!" she praised him, making him beam with happiness
"Thwank you bwig sis!" he said with a big smile. He was truly the luckiest kid on Earth. He had this huge house to play in, his Pichu to play with, and his Mama, Papa and big sister! He couldn't ask for anything more.
