Here's the next chapter for you all…

Up All Night - The Next Day.

Sitting curled up in one of the armchairs in her suite with her arms wrapped around her legs, Clarisse looked longingly across the room at the french doors leading to the balcony. She had been sat there all night, her head a whirlwind of emotions as she watched the dark night sky turn to light. All she wanted was to be there at the hospital with Joseph and she couldn't shake the feeling, but it simply wasn't safe to do so. Not yet at least anyway.

Thankfully, after calling Harry and Sabrina at the hotel last night, to let them know what had happened Harry volunteered to go to the hospital to be there for Joseph until his parent's arrived in the early hours, while Sabrina stayed at the palace with Clarisse. To keep her company, along with Elaina and their father.

"I've brought you some tea, your majesty," the Queen's ladies maid said as she entered the suite, pulling the Queen from her thoughts as she placed the tray down on the coffee table.

"Thank you Éloise," Clarisse said as she rested one elbow on her knees and placed her hand on the side of her head while looking across at her father in the other armchair before looking to Elaina and Sabrina sitting either end of the sofa, all of whom were fast asleep.

"It's okay, your majesty," Éloise said as she prepared her a cup of tea. "Would you like me to bring you some breakfast."

"Not yet," Clarisse said and shook her head while looking back at her maid. "Tea will be fine for now, thank you."

"Of course, your majesty," Éloise said as she stepped closer to her and handed her a teacup and saucer, "call down if you need anything else."

"I will, thank you," Clarisse said and watched as Éloise curtsied before walking back out the suite. Taking a deep breath, she lifted her teacup and took a small sip of tea as her father began to stir.

Slowly opening his eyes, Philippe blinked several times, willing his eyes to adjust to the light before sitting up. "I must've nodded off," he said and looked across at his daughter as she placed her teacup backdown on the saucer and placed them down on the end table beside her armchair, "sorry about that bunny, I didn't mean too."

"It's ok," Clarisse said as she watched him stretching out his arm's in front of him. "It's been a long night."

"It has," he nodded and got to his feet, to stretch his legs. "Has there been anymore news?"

"Not since Harry left the hospital," Clarisse said as she looked down at her hands resting on her legs in front of her, "I haven't heard anything else since."

"Ok," Philippe nodded as he walked about a bit. "Well no news is good news, as they say," he said and she nodded.

"I know, but I just wish that I could be there with him instead of being here," Clarisse said sadly and rested her head back on the headrest of her armchair as her father turned to her, "it's been really hard having to stay away."

"I know it is bunny," he said as Clarisse averted her gaze to him, "but hopefully later they will be able to arrange a visit for you."

"Hopefully," Clarisse nodded as she put her legs down and her feet back on the floor while sitting forward and covered her face with her hands for the briefest of moments. "I think I'm going to go and have a shower."

"Ok, bunny," Philippe said and stepped closer to her, while holding out his arms to her, as she stood to her feet and turned to him. "He's a fighter, remember that."

Nodding, Clarisse stepped into her fathers embrace as her emotions, that she had so far managed to keep at bay all night, threatened to spill over. "I better go shower," she said, her voice cracking as she stepped back and turned to make her way across her suite to her bedroom door.

Standing by the armchair, Philippe watched her, knowing she was close to tears and it broke his heart that he couldn't take away her pain. "Bunny," he said softly when she reached the door and watched as she turned to him. "It's perfectly acceptable to cry."

"I know," she said and nodded before turning and continuing into her bedroom. Closing up the door behind her, she stepped back and leant against it for a few moments with her hand still on the handle. Letting the tears fall freely now she was alone.

After having a shower and getting dressed, Clarisse sat at her dressing table so her maid could do her hair before leaving her. But leaving her suite a few moment's later, Éloise stepped out into the hallway to find the King making his way towards her. "Ahh hello Éloise," the King said, "is her highness in there?"

"Yes, she's in her bedroom, your highness," Éloise said and stepped to the side, to let him past. "Go on through."

"Thank you," Rupert said and stepped into the room, before quickly turning back to his wife's maid. "Tell me, has she eaten this morning?"

"No, your highness," Éloise said with a shake of her head. "She didn't want anything."

"Hmm, I thought that would be the case," Rupert said and nodded, "thank you, Éloise," he said and watched as the maid curtsied before he stepped back and closed the door up behind him. Turning, he caught sight of Sabrina and Elaina asleep either end of the sofa, before continuing on to Clarisse's bedroom door, where peering through the gap he found her sitting at her dressing table, with her back arched, elbows resting on the table in front of her and her head in her hands. "Clarisse," he said softly and pushed open the door as she quickly sat up straight.

"Hello," she said and turned her head to look over at him.

"Hello," he said stepping into the room and closing the door up behind him, "I just came to make sure you're alright? Did you sleep?"

"No, not a wink," Clarisse said with a shake of her head and turned in her seat, tucking her foot behind her ankle as she watched him walk across the room to sit on the bedroom bench at the bottom of her bed.

"I didn't think you would," he said, looking back across at her as she rested one elbow on the armrest of her chair and leant to the side, "but I did see Elaina and Sabrina asleep on the sofa on my way in."

"Yes, they tried to stay awake but ended up falling asleep a couple hour's ago," Clarisse said and looked down at her watch.

"Okay," Rupert nodded, "Éloise said you haven't eaten this morning?"

"No, not yet," Clarisse said with a shake of her head, "I'm not hungry."

"You need to eat, if you don't you will make yourself sick and that is the last thing any of us want right now," Rupert said and watched as Clarisse gave him a stern look. "I'm just saying, we all care about you, you know."

"I know, and I will eat when I am hungry," Clarisse said and covered her face with her hands a moment.

"Okay, as long as you do," Rupert said as she lowered her hands and looked back over at him, "believe it or not, I do still worry about you."

"I know you do, and I appreciate that," Clarisse said as she slumped back in her chair and wrapped her arms round herself. "Thank you," she nodded.

"Anyway," Rupert said, "has there been any news?"

"Not since about four this morning, when Harry left to go back to the hotel," she said as she turned her head to look at her dressing table, "he was awake and stable," she said and looked back across at her husband.

"That's good news," Rupert said and Clarisse nodded. "Who's there with him now? Well apart from the guard's on the door I mean."

"His parent's are there, when I called last night to offer them the use of the Royal jet they had just managed to get flights here, but I told them that while they are here they are to stay at the palace," Clarisse said.

"That's absolutely fine," Rupert said and nodded, "I'll assign a car to them to chauffeur them to and from the hospital when needed."

"Thank you, they would really appreciate that," Clarisse said, "and I do too."

"It's okay, anything I can do to help," Rupert nodded. "I know you have been really worried about him, but hopefully the team will be able to get you there to see him today."

"Yes, Lyle came to tell me a little while ago actually that they are just finalising security details as we speak so I can go, but we need to be careful because he's a Royal employee there are a lot of paparazzi hanging around in the hope of getting a story and picture," Clarisse said.

"I thought there would be, but I have every faith that the security team will do their job well and can get you in and out without being seen," Rupert said as Clarisse nodded, "but even if they do see you entering or leaving, at the end of the day you are all best friend's to the outside world, you, Sabrina, Harry and Joseph," he said, "and to them, you are simply visiting one of your closet friend's."

"That's why Sabrina is coming with me, just in case," Clarisse said.

"Alright," Rupert nodded and watched her take a deep breath while looking down at her arms still folded across her stomach, "I know my words probably don't mean much, but please try not to worry. He's in good hands."

Looking back up at her husband, Clarisse nodded, "thank you."

"You're welcome," he said and stood to his feet to walk over to her, "and don't worry about things here. I got the fort today so don't stress over it, okay? And make sure you take as long as you need, alright."

"Thank you," Clarisse said as she tipped her head back to look up at her husband standing beside her sitting in the chair. "That means a lot."

"You're welcome," he said and watched as she lifted her head back to look down at her arm's once again, before he leant over and kissed the top of her head without thinking. "Oh… Perhaps I shouldn't have done that."

"It's fine," Clarisse said as she looked back up at him and watched as he stepped back, "we are still friends, aren't we?"

"Yes of course," he said and half smiled.

"Then it's fine," she nodded, "please don't worry."

"Okay," Rupert said and watched her a moment. He could tell from the look in her eyes that she was heartbroken and he wanted to be there as best as he could, considering the circumstances. "Well, I will leave you to finish getting ready and I'll see you later," he said while walking over to the door and opened it before turning back to her, "you know where I am, if you need me. Even if it's just for that shoulder to cry on."

"Yes I do," she nodded, "thank you."

"Anytime," Rupert said and walked out.
