Up All Night - Part 2.

Standing at the window in his father's office, while his father sat working his way through the daily paperwork at his desk, Pierre watched as his uncle opened the car door for Sabrina and his mother before they stood talking. But seeing his mother look directly at the window a moment later, as if she knew he was there, watching them, he quickly ducked out of sight, in the hope that she didn't see him.

"She would have seen you, you know?" Rupert said, knowing exactly who he was hiding from, as he looked over the top of his glasses at his son, who stood with his back pressed against the wall between the windows. "She's not silly."

"I know," Pierre said with a shrug and watched him look back down at the document sitting on the desk in front of him. "Where's she going anyway."

"Where do you think she's going?" Rupert asked while looking back up at him.

"If I had to guess, I'd say the hospital to see Joe," Pierre replied.

"Got it in one," Rupert said and watched as Pierre slowly moved away from the window and walked over to his desk. "Have you spoken to her yet today?"

"No, not yet," Pierre replied as he changed direction, and walked over to a large rotating globe that his father had in his office instead. Something he always found fascinating as a child, seeing all the different countries on it. Places he once dreamt about visiting. "I figured she wouldn't want to see me after the way I behaved yesterday."

"Well of course she would, you are still her son," Rupert said and watched as Pierre put his hand out and slowly began to move the globe around. Slumping back in his chair, Rupert removed his glasses and watched him a moment while placing them down on his desk. "May I ask you something?"

"You may," Pierre replied, not really paying attention as he studied the globe.

"What did you say yesterday, to your grandpère, Elaina and Joseph after you left me and your mother in the library," Rupert asked and watched as Pierre froze.

Swallowing hard, Pierre finally turned and looked over at his father still sitting behind his desk. "Oh that, you and mother were talking."

"About?" Rupert asked.

"About potentially getting back together," Pierre said.

"And?" Rupert asked, knowing that there had to be more from the reaction it had received.

"And, that you missed mother and wanted her back," Pierre said.

"I see," Rupert nodded and looked across his office a moment before looking back at his son. "Although that is true, I do miss your mother and would love for us to try again, Pierre, there is just no way it would work between us. We are, and we always will be now, better as friends. And I'm sorry to say, I think with what your mother is sacrificing, and always has, for you and your brother, I think it's about time you accept her relationship with Joseph." Rupert said honestly.

Letting out a sigh, Pierre moved and sat in the chair in front of his father's desk. "Is he going to be ok?" He asked while looking up at his father. "Joe, I mean."

"Well at the moment I don't know for sure, but I hope he will be, yes," Rupert said as he studied his son.

"I didn't mean for him to go off like that yesterday and I certainly didn't intend on him having an accident," Pierre said sadly. "I haven't slept all night because I have felt so guilty over it."

"I thought you wouldn't sleep," Rupert said and thought a moment, "but listen, when your mother gets back later, maybe you can go see her, talk, ask her how she is, how Joseph is, apologise and try and make amends? I'm sure she'll appreciate it."

"Yes, I will," Pierre said and watched as his father nodded.

"Good," he said and nodded a little, "and maybe while you are together, you could tell her what we talked about the other night? About how you feel over her and Joe's relationship. She might understand why you can't accept it, if you explain."

"Oh I don't know about that father," Pierre said.

"Ok, I know that it bothers you, them being together, so how about you look at their relationship from a different perspective?" Rupert suggested.

"How?" Pierre asked.

"Okay, don't look at us as being in an open marriage anymore. Look at us more as being separated. Because we are, in some way, technically over. Yes we are still married, and it will stay that way, but we aren't together anymore and are certainly not in a romantic relationship. Those day's are over between us, and they have been for sometime, and although we are staying married for the monarchy, for yours and your brother's future, doesn't your mother deserve to have some happiness? That special someone to make her smile, to make her happy? Because I know if we were divorced she would still move on."

"When you word it like that it kind of makes sense," Pierre said and shrugged, "but it's still weird to me."

"Alright, well think about it at least," Rupert said while looking at his son, "please?"

"I will," Pierre nodded.

"Good, thank you," Rupert said while picking up his glasses and slipped them back on, "now just one more thing before I get back to my paperwork," he said and studied his son a long moment. "I think you also owe Joseph an apology too, don't you?"

"I know," Pierre nodded, "and I will, soon."

Arriving at the hospital a short time later, the driver pulled up outside the entrance, where Andre hurried from the building to open the car door for them, while Lyle jumped out the front passenger seat and hurried around the car to escort the Queen and Sabrina into the building with Andre as paparazzi waiting outside took pictures and filmed their arrival while firing questions at them.

"It's a circus out there," Sabrina exclaimed as they all made their way toward the lift.

"It's been like that all night," Andre said and pressed for the lift before looking at the Queen. "Are you alright, your majesty?"

"Yes," she nodded, "I just want to see Joseph."

"We are nearly there," Sabrina said while wrapping her arm around Clarisse's shoulders as the lift doors opened.

Moment's later they were stepping off the lift on Joseph's floor and walking towards his hospital room, to find his parent's Giovanni and Rosa stood outside in the corridor.

"Ciao, mia cara Clarisse," Rosa exclaimed when she saw them walking towards her and her husband with Andre and Lyle. "Sono così felice che tu possa venire."

"Anche a me," Clarisse said as she stepped closer and kissed Rosa's cheeks before looking at Joseph's father, Giovanni, standing behind his wife, and stepped closer to him, "Ciao, Giovanni."

"Ciao, amore mio," Giovanni said and kissed both her cheeks as Rosa and Sabrina greeted one another behind them, "Joseph has been asking for you."

"I know," Clarisse nodded, "but we had to wait for the go ahead before I could come."

"I know, and he knows," Giovanni nodded sadly, "and we understand."

"What are you doing out here anyway, is everything okay?" Clarisse asked.

"Yes, the doctor is in with him at the moment," Giovanni said.

"Ahh I see," Clarisse replied as Giovanni moved to sit down in one of the chairs in the corridor as Sabrina leant closer to Clarisse.

"I am impressed," she said as Clarisse turned her head to look at her friend, "I never knew you spoke such good Italian."

"I never used to," Clarisse said and nodded, "but Joseph taught me, and now I know, well at least a fair bit, of his native language, his parent's prefer to speak to me in Italian whenever we can."

"Oh, impressive," Sabrina nodded as Clarisse looked back at Rosa.

"I am still a bit rusty, obviously, but I think I am doing rather well," Clarisse said as she glanced back at Sabrina.

"You are, you would never had guessed you were rusty," Sabrina said as Clarisse nodded.

"Tell me, how is he doing this morning?" Clarisse asked as she looked at Joseph's father before looking back at his mother. "I have been so worried."

"Conosco la mia cara Clarisse, lo so," Rosa nodded and put her hands up to frame Clarisse's face, a move that surprises Sabrina. "Quando ha saputo che stavi arrivando, ci ha detto di andarcene e di chiudere le persiane," she nodded. "Per la tua privacy."

"Sì, grazie," Clarisse said as Rosa lowered her hands, just as the doctor emerged from Joseph's hospital room.

"Oh, how is he doctor?" Giovanni exclaimed while standing to his feet and moving to stand beside his wife.

"Maybe we should go to my office, for a bit of privacy?" The doctor said and cleared his throat nervously at the Queen's presence.

"Oh no, please, you can tell us how he is in front of the Queen," Giovanni said and nodded, "she's not just his employer, but she's one of his best friends too, and so is Sabrina."

"Very well, he's doing very well considering what has happened," the doctor nodded and paused a moment before continuing, "and as you know we have preformed scans and X-rays to check for any fractures and any internal damage."

"Sì," Rosa nodded, "is there any?"

"There is no internal damage from what we can see, but he does have several fractured ribs along with his broken wrist, minor cuts and bruises," the doctor said and watched as everyone's face flooded with relief. "Nothing that won't heal in good time."

"Oh, loda il Signore," Rosa exclaimed as she clasped her hands together in front of her.

"Thank you doctor," Giovanni said as he wrapped his arm around his wife's back and kissed the side of her head, as Sabrina and Clarisse hugged in relief, "grazie."

"Yes, thank you doctor," Clarisse said as she and Sabrina pulled apart and turned back to the doctor.

"You're welcome," smiled the doctor. "He is extremely lucky."

"He is," Giovanni said and nodded in agreement, "he is very lucky indeed."

"Can we go back in with him now?" Rosa asked.

"Yes, of course," the doctor said, "if you have any questions, or concerns, then please don't hesitate to ask."

"Thank you," Giovanni said and watched as the doctor bowed his head before walking away.

"Clarisse, amore mio," Rosa said as she turned to the Queen, "please go on in, I know he's desperate to see you."

"Are you sure?" Clarisse asked as she looked from Rosa to Giovanni.

"Sì, sì," Giovanni nodded and gestured to the door before moving to sit back down, "go on in, and please take as long as you need."

"Grazie, grazie," Clarisse said, feeling thankful as she turned to Sabrina, "I won't be long."

"Oh please, as Giovanni said already, take as long as you need," Sabrina said before moving to sit down beside Joseph's father.
