The next morning
Kate was standing in front of a small group of alphas to assign duties however they were waiting for a certain set of brothers. They have been waiting for an hour for Link and Lyle to show up but they didn't.
"Ugh where are those two idiots?"Kate asked in annoyance no one could tell for sure where the brothers were "Maybe they're sleeping in."Claws suggested kate was about to accept that until hutch came back "I just came from their den their not there."
Now Kate was getting concerned "where could those two run off too?" Then she started to think back and her annoyed expression came back "Oh for Fenrir's sake,Hutch Garth come with me i might know where they're are."
An Hour later
The 3 alphas arrived at the door step to the Dark Forest Hutch and Garth looked at the Eerie looking forest with visible nervousness. "you think they're in there?"Garth asked "Yep those two don't know how to listen." Kate said in annoyance as she walked through the treeline.
The Three alphas continued walking through the forest keeping their eyes peeled for anyone or anything.
They roamed around looking for any sign of Link and Lyle until garth found an Axe Garth picked it up and saw Lyle's name carved into the handle.
Kate and Hutch approached Garth looking at what he found "Yep they were here alright." Hutch said looking around at the forest "But where are they?"kate asked "Maybe the Shade got them."Garth said in a slight joking manner as Kate glanced at him "Be serious Garth."Kate said as she and the others continued walking,
"Link..Lyle!"Hutch yelled out his voice echoing throughout the forest "where are you guys!"Garth yelled "If this is another sick prank on me I'm demoting you two to omega,Come on out!"Kate with seriousness in her voice as garth looked at her.
"Would you really do that?"Garth as curiously "Yep I'll even have them teach in omega school."Kate said as she kept walking.
As Kate,Hutch and Garth continued walking through the Forest Garth was looking around and the uneasiness he was feeling was slowly rising up Kate and Hutch was feeling the same thing.
"Is it me or does this Forest get more creepier the more we keep walking through it?"Garth asked looking around "Just ignore it Garth we're on a mission remember?"Kate said.
The 3 alphas traveled to the very end of the Forest and still didn't find no trace of Link and Lyle "Fenrir where are they?" Hutch asked in frustration Garth shook his head in defeat "face it they are dead."
"I'll believe that when i see their bodies."Kate looked around at the vast empty field in front of them and far on the horizon was a mountain Kate huffed as she realized they were wasting their time "come on guys it's obvious we're not going to find anything here let's head back home we'll continue the search tomorrow." Kate said beginning to walk back to the tribe with Hutch and Garth following but Hutch spotted something on the horizon it was a group of Wolves "Wait Kate look."Hutch said pointing towards the wolves which caught Kate and Garth completely by surprise.
"What the what?"Kate said as she chased after the wolves with Hutch and Garth following,After several minutes the three alphas came to a field where there was a bunch of Wolves hanging out.
"Woah there is a tribe here?!"Hutch asked in amazement "Apparently so."kate said Garth looked around and he saw a couple of female wolves grinning at him and waving at him seductively.
Garth being the kind soul he is waved back and continued walking with Kate and Hutch until a light tan male wolf approached them.
"Hello strangers the names Max I'm the leader of this tribe."he greeted with a smile Kate was taken a back at the wolf's friendliness but decided to give some back "Um hello I'm Kate this hutch and Garth." Hutch and Garth waved "We're looking for two alpha wolves from our pack not too far from here named Link and Lyle have you seen them?"
Max shook his head no "No no one hasn't seen wolves like that here uh why did something bad happen to them?"
"Oh hopefully not,but they just disappeared in the middle of the night and I'm worried."Kate said Max nodded his head fully understanding the situation presented to him. "i see and you thought they came here to our tribe?" Kate shrugged sheepishly "Well technically we were looking in the Dark Forest because that's where i thought they'd be we accidentally stumbled onto you guys we didn't exactly know there was a tribe currently living near the Dark Forest."
"Yeah exactly how long have you been here?"Garth asked curiously "Years."Max said like it was no big deal while looking at Garth,Kate stared at Max in complete surprise as she took that fact in then she looked down at the ground then at Max as a thought raced around her mind.
"Wait you guys have been living next to the Dark Forest for years,surely you guys heard about the legend of the Living Shadow?"Kate asked Max then suddenly everything stopped all of the wolves that were around them looked at Kate like she said a bad word some were even whispering things.
Max motioned for the three alphas to follow him which they did once they were alone and out of ear shot Max hung his head and stared into Kate's eyes. "Yeah we know it in fact we were the ones who started it,but it's not something we talk about here."Max said it in a way that made it seem like he wasn't proud of it.
Kate's eyes widened as she realized then and there that this was the tribe that started the story "Wait you guys are the ones who started that story?!"
Max nodded then Garth chimed in with a laugh "i must say you guys are great story tellers i couldn't sleep for a month after hearing that story,where did you guys come up with the idea,did it just come to you guys or was it based on something?"
Max stared at Garth "It was based on a true story Garth everything that happened in that story happened to us for real,every moment and every word." Garth paused for a moment then started laughing out loud further upsetting Max.
"Yeah go ahead laugh that tribe we went to for help did Fenrir you wolves today always have their heads up their butts they chose to be ignorant to the truth that we don't know everything about the world we live in,there could be creatures and beings out there that we think are myth but are in fact real Bigfoot,The Atlanteans,The Olympians,and those sightings of lights in the skyways followed by strange gigantic markings in the ground,there's proof all around us that there's more to our world than meets the eye but Nooo laugh it off and label it as myth Buttheads."Max mumbled finishing his rant.
Kate,Garth and Hutch all looked at Max with blank faces they were trying to decide whether or not to let Max calling them buttheads slide. Kate could see that this topic was a hot button for max and decided to take it seriously for his sake "I apologize for Garth out of the three of us he's the biggest butthead." Garth gave her a sharp look offended. "Why don't you educate us on the truth of the Shade."
"i rather my wife and her sister do that,for they were one of the first in this tribe to encounter the creature,Follow me."Max simply said walking away causing Kate,Garth and Hutch to follow him. "May i ask what their names are?"Kate asked curiously on who they were going to see Max looked back and responded "Lois and Daria."
