Here we go! Three more days of classes and engineering mathematics is killing me so i needed a break and some happiness. Here is the second half of the date, hope you enjoy!
Standing against the railing of the boardwalk with Meredith wrapped in his arms, Cormac grins. Leaning down "shall we continue to desert?" he whispers in her ear. Meredith leans back into his embrace, relishing the warmth and comfort of his arms before answering, "if you insist."
Cormac smirks, unwrapping her from his hold and keeping one are across her shoulders. Meredith leans into him wrapping her arm around his waist as they continue down the boardwalk.
"Thank you for tonight, it has been wonderful" Meredith says earnestly, leaning into Cormac's shoulder.
Cormac beams, "I have had a lovely night, Mer. Don't forget desert though!" he says pulling Meredith towards himself.
"Here was are" Cormac says a few minutes later, turning the two of them towards a brightly lit shopfront. There are fairy lights across the awning, and a line out the door. People are chatting and a family walks past with two kids balancing ice cream cones. The blue, red and white striped paint compliments the large windows showing into the vibrant shop.
"Shall we?" Cormac asks, gesturing to the line.
"Ice cream? Always!" Meredith answers with a grin as they make their way into the line, their arms around each other.
"So, favourite flavour?" He asks, a twinkle in his eyes.
Meredith giggles, answering "hmmm, ok, do you want the short or the long answer?"
"Long answer, we have all the time in the world" Cormac answers, grinning down at her.
"Ok, so my long-term favourite is strawberry, but never strawberry cheesecake, they can never do the flavour justice, it has to be a strawberry sorbet, which this place does to perfection. How did you choose this place so well, it has the best strawberry ice cream in Seattle!"
"Good luck?" Cormac asks.
"I don't believe you, who did you ask?" Meredith says, playfully slapping his arm.
"Ok, ok, I surrender" Cormac says with a chuckle. "Amelia happened to mention that she was getting you ice cream from here when you lost a patient a couple months ago."
"And you remembered?" Meredith asks shyly.
"Of course I did. Now back to your favourite type of ice cream" Cormac says with a smile.
"Ok, so, as you know, strawberry ice cream is my original and enduring favourite, however, my children all have different favourites, and these started during my pregnancies. Zola's favourite is coffee because that was Derek's favourite. I don't like the idea of her having caffein at such a young age, but Derek used to sneak her bites of his and now she loves it. Now, during both my pregnancies I couldn't stand strawberry ice cream, which is really tragic if you think about it. I mean, imagine taking someone who is feeling sick and tired and run down and saying no, you can't have your comfort food! It's cruel." Meredith says chuckling.
"the world is conspiring against you" Cormac says, laughter in his voice.
"Well, luckily I found out pretty quickly that even if I couldn't have strawberry ice cream there was a different kind that I loved. One day, not long after we found out I was pregnant with Bailey, Derek and I took Zola to the park. After Zola played on the swings and slide as a young child does, Derek ad I decided to take her out for ice cream. We walked into the shop and I lamented my nausea at the thought of strawberry. We were walking along, trying to find something that Zola would like when I spotted a mango macadamia ice cream. I instantly knew I had to try it! Anyways, I had a taste of it, and I was in heaven. Derek ordered me a double scoop of the mango macadamia for me, a kids' scoop of peanut butter for Zola and a single scoop of coffee ice cream for himself and we went and ate them in the park. From that day on, for the next seven months, I loved that stuff. To this day, Bailey's favourite ice cream is mango macadamia. With Ellis, I craved rocky road, she would eat gallons of that stuff. Normally she loves fresh healthy food, but she just can't get enough of that rocky road ice cream. So, that is how my favourite ice cream is strawberry, but at times I have loved mango macadamia and rocky road" Meredith finishes with a grin. "So, what about you?" she asks.
"What about me?" Cormac answers.
"Ugggh, your favourite ice cream, spill" Meredith huffs, rolling her eyes.
"Hmm, this is a very difficult question you ask me Doctor Grey, I don't know if I will be able to answer" Cormac says with an exaggeratedly serious face.
"Ass" Meredith says bumping her shoulder against him.
"Well, if you must know, my favourite ice cream is green tea" Cormac says with a chuckle.
"Oooo, I haven't tried that! I think I will definitely be stealing a taste from yours tonight" Meredith says with a grin.
They make it to the front of the line, ordering their ice creams before making their way back onto the boardwalk. Eating their ice cream with one hand and holding each other's hands with the other they continue walking.
"So, can I try that green tea ice cream?" Meredith asks with a smirk.
"Well, it's just so good, I'm not sure if I can spare any" Cormac says teasingly.
"We'll see about that" Meredith says, darting around him and reaching for his ice cream.
Cormac spins backwards out of her reach laughing as she continues past him. "I will get you!" Meredith says, moving forwards towards him as he darts to the side.
"I'd like to see you try" Cormac says with a smirk as he licks his ice cream. Taking advantage of his distraction, Meredith sprints forwards, licking his ice cream.
"Yum! I'm hurt you didn't think I was worth sharing with" Meredith teases. "What are you laughing at?" she says indignantly as Cormac breaks out in laughter.
"I'm sorry, I just, you see" he says between breaths "well, can I?" he asks pointing to her face. "You seem to have gotten some of this delicious ice cream on your beautiful face, and we wouldn't want to waste the ice cream" he says, reaching forwards as she nods.
He brings the napkin to her face, bringing it to her nose as she holds eye contact with him. He smirks as he dabs at her nose and she smiles back at him. Bringing his hand down from her face they both grin before turning to continue down the boardwalk, his free arm around her shoulders and her free hand around his waist.
They continue glancing at each other as they eat their ice creams, occasionally stealing tastes from each other's ice creams as they make their way back to their cars, savouring the last moments of their evening.
There is the end of their first date! I hope I did this couple justice. Please let me know what you think! Your comments bring me so much joy, thank you to everyone who has commented and let me know what you think! xx
