An: I know I know. This would be considered a crossover but this would be the only one in the Wings of Fire / Paw Patrol section. It would not be visible to many at all.

This chapter has more of the dragons element in it. All sides must be explored. Hope you like this chapter.

A Prince's Tale

Chapter 3

With the Jade Winglet at Jade Mountain Academy

"What do you mean, you could understand them?" Kinkajou was puzzled like the rest of her friends.

"I can explain more inside," Winter stated. He then started to walk into the entrance cave of the Academy.

His friends would follow him to their sleeping caves from last year. They would all head into his, Turtle, and Qibli's sleeping cave for it was much larger than the dragonesses' cave. Phoenix was walking by and noticed all of them.

"What is going on?" the young Skywing would ask. She would be about the same age as Moon and Kinkajou at the age of five years old. (For those who don't know, 5 years old to them is like 13 for us in human years.)

"Not much Phoenix, we are all just waiting for Winter to explain what he said outside," Kinkajou replied.

Phoenix was confused, "What did he say outside?"

"That he could understand scavengers," Turtle clarified.

"Really?" Phoenix would look at the Icewing with wide eyes and wanting more information.

"At least the ones from the large island that is off the coast of the Sand Kingdom," Qilbi huffed.

"Hey… if I could understand them without needing to learn a new language then I'm sure you can too," Winter shot back at the yellow Sandwing.

Moonwatcher would roll her eyes at the two's bickering. Sometimes she wishes they would have more friendly conversations. After the whole ordeal with Darkstalker blew over, as if lots of dragons' deaths are just a gust of wind, she chose Winter even after the untold amount of times Darksalker tried to convince her not to choose him and that she would have a happier life with Qibli. Sure the last Nightwing Icewing couple was cursed, but that was 2000 years ago. Another Darkstalker won't come into this world, right? She has even started to realize that Qibli has been much more aggressive towards Winter later. Like he makes full offensive insults to the Icewing instead of his usual kind but teasing behavior he had before.

As she was thinking, Winter and Qibli were at it again arguing about if the war was just.

It then went on to Qibli insulting Winter about how he treats Moon. Now, Qibli changes the subject to pitch more insults to Winter who at this point is angered about this 'new' Qibli.

"You probably force her into believing your lies. I knew you were the wrong one for her!" the Sandwing insulted.

"I make her do nothing she doesn't want to do. What kind of friend would do that to a loved one? She can do and think what she wants, for spikes sake, she could be a Nightwing Princess for all I care, I would still love her. She can do fine on her own even after our training sessions on how to fight," the Icewing prince retorted. He didn't take it lightly when someone insults his treatment of Moon. And yes, when she came around and visited him they would have training sessions where Winter would teach her how to fight and defend herself. Even after just a summer of doing it, she has learned quickly and mastered the basics. Also, he made Moon blush a bit at his comment for her working hard and she can do what she wants.

"So you make her fight. What if that is something she doesn't want to do?" Qibli stated.

That comment kind of buzzed a bit of everyone but Winter would reply raising his voice even more, "Not like she would choose to fight anyone! It is a simple defense to know how to fight back well against an attacker," Realizing that they have gotten so far off track Winter would then ask back more snippy, "How did we even start talking about this?"

Before the scared Sandwing could reply, Moon had enough, "For three moons' sake! Qibli, shut your mouth. You have to always start a fight between you and Winter and it always ends up being about me. You make it so easy for me to think why I picked Winter over you. You would always start an argument with him after we defeated Darkstalker. Why is that? What happened to the Qibli we knew and loved. I HATE this new you!"

Moon said this with a tone and words all the dragonets in the room never thought she had. All except Winter, he figured this out when they were fighting one time as all young couples have. Her tone was so stern it made him shut up so quickly he vowed to never want to be the receiving end of that tone. It also made him happy that his love was learning not to take flak from anyone. Now the Nightwing dragoness won't take flak about her love, even if it was from a friend.

Qibli just looked at her like he was just scared out of his scales. The brave Sandwing never thought he would ever be scared of Moon. Her beautiful face would have a look that said, 'You really screwed up just now.' He thought he would literally die from the look she gave him.

"MOVE! ON! QIBLI! I choose the dragon I want to be with and there is nothing you can do to change that. There are plenty of other dragonesses out in the world that would love to have someone like you. That is, if you change your attitude," Moon would have calmed down to say the last part. Even though she was harsh, she didn't insult him, at least not a lot. She would never just flat out insult any of her friends no matter how stupid they were acting. She was so glad they were all wearing skyfire for she would have a massive headache from all their thoughts right about now.

XXX

After a few seconds of silence from all the dragonets, Moon would close her eyes and sigh heavily. She would then look to Winter, "Forget it. You can tell them, but I will be in my cave. You can tell me later."

Before anyone else could say anything Moon would have already left the cave and went across the hall to the female cave for the Jade Winglet.

Qibli would then hang his neck and lower his head in shame. He would leave the cave heading to the Library, maybe Starflight was there with Fatespeaker. Someone else to talk to but both Nightwings. Oh well.

The rest of the Jade Winglet would just be looking at each other in shock. Kinkajou, Turtle, and Phoenix would look to Winter for anything he was about to say.

Winter, still shocked from Moon's burst of anger at Qibli, would be still looking out the exit of his cave to where the Nightwing and Sandwing went. While still staring in awe he said, "I'll wait to explain, for it is really complicated. Excuse me."

With that, he would exit the cave to go to where Moon went. The three remaining dragonets, again, just looked at each other in surprise, confusion, and even fear.

Phoenix would say what was on the rest of their minds, "So… what just happened?"

Near Norwich in the Taiga Woods

A female husky-wolf hybrid would be running for her life from several anti-hybrids. At this time, they would have been chasing her for over several minutes and she didn't dare look back. Yet, one thing was for sure, she didn't hear their hybrid slurs or even their paws in the snow anymore.

Finally realizing she wasn't being chased anymore she would slow to a stop and try to catch her breath. She would look behind her and she wouldn't see a soul. She did, however, hear shouting in the distance from where she ran. She couldn't make out what was being said but she knew they were humans, possibly guards.

The husky-wolf hybrid would look around for her own safety. She would be so paranoid she would be rapidly looking everywhere for anything that moves. She would then hear the crunching of snow from a distance but it sounded like a human in armor. Usually, that means a guard is coming but it wasn't just one like usual. It sounded like a group of them with one canine. The canine's ears would not deceive her.

The shouting would have stopped by now and the footsteps would be getting closer. The hybrid would stay in one place wanting to know who is coming.

Two minutes later she would see four Norwich guards and a dog in the middle. Obviously, it was a German Shepherd but why was he surrounded by guards and heading towards her location.

Then she noticed the garments the Shepherd was wearing. He was Prince Chase of Valika. The husky-wolf hybrid would then gasp in surprise.

Back at Jade Mountain:

Moon would be on her bed that would have been remade for the year. It was green moss and leaves and a soft new silk blanket made by her mother from this past summer. Secretkeeper must have sent it over so her only daughter can be comfortable the first night back in school.

Speaking of night, the sun would have set by this time of day. The three moons would be high in the sky but only crescents for all of them. She would be looking out the small window her cave had and watch the moons and listen to the crickets.

She was at peace until she heard the talons of an Icewing scrape across the rocky floor of the cave. Knowing who it was she wouldn't look over and kept looking into the night sky.

Winter would see her looking at the sky through the window and would marvel at how beautiful she was in the moonlight. The sparkle from her teardrop scales near her eyes, the almost emerald glow from her underside, and her delicate black scales slowly hiding her in the darkness. The Icewing would sigh at his love in front of him.

"Winter?" she would ask him while still looking up at the sky. Her voice was calm, soothing, and even refreshing from her tone earlier that day. Yet, he felt as if something was bothering her.

Without saying a word he would come into the cave and sit next to her side. Feeling his presence she leaned into his chest as she remained looking at the sky. She could feel the coldness from his scales and would relax. Winter would look to the sky and join her watching the moons.

The pair would be there enjoying each other's company in silence. That is until Moon sighed and said, *Sigh* "What happened to the 'old' Qibli?"

Winter would look down to Moon who then looked up to him and they would look into each other's eyes. Winter looked into Moon's gorgeous emerald eyes. Thinking to himself that he's one of the luckiest dragons on Phyirria, but then he needed to answer her, "I… I don't know."

Moon would close her eyes and shake her head in disappointment, "He never acted like that when Darkstalker wasn't out. He was always kind and gentle. He would always know what to say no matter the circumstance. Even when Darkstalker was around he would have a clear head and could think straight even with Darkstalker's spell."

Winter would think about what Moon just said. Looking back, before he left to fight with his tribe, Qibli was doing his level best trying to stay calm while Winter was scared out of his mind. Today, he still regrets what he said to Moon and his other friends, and to him, that was the last time he saw Qibli in his more 'normal' state.

"I'm sorry… I should have not left," Winter admitted to Moon as he looked down in shame.

Moon looked at him and was saddened more, "No, you had every right to leave. You were scared and still cared for your tribe. I'm afraid that if you didn't leave, Darkstalker would have taken you instead of Qibli and most likely would've killed you." Moon rubbed her snout up and down Winter's neck, snuggling him, "You protected yourself and to some extent us, and me."

Winter would look back to Moonwatcher and she would still be snuggling his neck and looking for affection. He would respond by lowering his head to reach her's. She would stop and open her eyes again allowing the Icewing to look into her emeralds again. For a split second, they would look at each other staring into each other's souls. Then they would close their eyes and touch their foreheads and noses. Winter would slowly spread his wings and cover his love with them in a loving way.

They would sit there for a few moments just giving the affection they both needed. They would stop their long connected heads and look back to the moons. They were both at peace. A peace they didn't want to be interrupted, but of course, it will not last forever.

Moon would have a feeling. A feeling of someone else's presents who wasn't a dragon she met before. This dragon was new and she found a glimpse into their mind. "I have to find her. This means nothing to me, I can't understand why this exists. Why must a war be fought?…" Before Moon even knew she was having a vision. A prophecy: In a demonic voice Moon would start to say what her mind was telling her. She would lose all control:

The war, the soldiers, the fight,

The danger.

The wins, the losses, the plight,

The anger.

The war is done, the losses counted.

The victors praised, the fear has mounted.

But all is not finished, all is not well.

The losing sides' bitterness cannot be quelled.

From peace is where the first fights start.

From prosperity is where the tribes all part.

But if this could change, could mold.

From saviors with a heart of gold.

The Prince, of an Island Kingdom,

The grey fur Blacksmith of one so dark,

Fur of White, covers the one of knowledge and power.

The dragoness of two tribes, lost her mark,

The Nightwing of Foresight and Telepathy,

The Icewing of Grit and Strength,

Sandwings of scales so gold,

Friends of such will guide them.

War is brewing, death is coming,

Will the world be saved or burn to ash?

After Moon finished she collapsed into Winter's side completely knocked out. The Icewing was stunned and heard every word. Only one thing went into his head, "Not again." Then, as if on queue, a dragon would be standing at the cave entrance looking at Winter and the now unconscious Moon.

The dragon would have large wings, large enough to be a Skywing's and would be the size of a Skywing but was as dark as a Nightwing. He had black scales with red spikes behind his head and all the way down his back to his tail. His wings would start black and have silver sparkles on the undersides like most Nightwings but instead of all black. His wings would be red in a smooth transition from black to red at the ends of his wings. To then top it all off, Winter would notice silver teardrop scales near his eyes just like Moon. "A mind reader." Winter thought, grateful he had his skyfire on. He didn't know this dragon, and he wanted to find out who they were.

"Who are you!?" Winter shouted.

The drake would just look at him. His face is the face of a killer. Dark, menacing, rare red eyes, and the look of a murderer.

Winter would get up and get into a defensive position between the strange dragoness and Moon. He would get low and growling, "I said. Who… Are… You!" Winter said loud and slowly.

Finally, the drake spoke, "Don't get your spikes in a twist Icewing."

"That doesn't answer my question," Winter scolded.

The hybrid would then sigh in defeat, "I am Shadowseer."

Still not letting his guard down, Winter would say, "What exactly are you? And why are you here?"

Shadowseer would realize the Icewing will not let up and protect whoever is behind him. The only way he can make peace with this Icewing is to answer him, "I am a hybrid, Nightwing Skywing to be exact. I am here because I thought Moonwatcher would be here."

"What do you want with her?" Winter asked.

"I just want to talk to her and you about the both of you. You and Moonwatcher are either in trouble or gifted," Shadowseer explained, "I can tell she is the one behind you. I heard it too."

Winter was stunned. Now was not the time to talk because it is night and she just had a vision, "In case you didn't look outside, it is night, and right now she is sleeping. She will be able to talk tomorrow."

The new drake would slowly nod and walk away from the cave entrance. Winter would stand down and look to the now sleeping Nightwing dragoness that he loved behind him. Or at least he thought she was sleeping. He wouldn't want to wake her but in the chance that she needed to be, he decided to stay with her. He would get her into her mossy bed and get her comfortable. He would see the new blanket that was folded nicely at the end of her bed. He would then take it and cover her in it. He would then lay next to her, completely disregarding school rules with males not allowed to sleep with females, and would protect her if that strange dragon came back.

Winter would stay up for the rest of the night not trusting them or what they said. At the end of the night, he would only get three hours of sleep. The morning is going to be nuts. Not only will he have to explain if he is caught but also explain about the prophecy Moon blurted out. Just as he was thinking of what would happen he saw Moon stir in her sleep. He would look over and she would be looking back at him.

"Good night Winter," Moon said so innocently like she didn't realize she said a prophecy just a couple of minutes ago.

Winter knew better than to explode at her. Instead, he controlled his emotions and said, "Good night Moon. We will figure it out."

She would then smile and drift back to a peaceful sleep. At least Winter hoped it was peaceful.

AN: A bit more on the dragon side of things but that is for PLOT!
