AN: I am going to make another change on the dragon side of things. Darkstalker never sent out his plague, therefore Queen Glacier was not killed and survived. She is still the queen of the Icewings. My story I make it how I want it to be.
A Prince's Tale
Chapter 5
The flight to the castle was silent and fast. Klondike made sure to keep his master, his master's son, and the guest on his back protected and get to the Capital City as fast as possible. When they finally arrived back at the Royal Lightning Dragon stables at the castle, Chief would help his son and the female husky-wolf hybrid off of Klondike.
When that was done he would look to his son and the hybrid, "So, who's this?" the king said in a neutral tone.
"Father, this is Everest. She was being chased by anti-hybrids at Norwich. She was chased out of town and into the Taiga forest. If the guards and I didn't intervene she could have very well been beaten, raped, and possibly killed," Chase would explain to his father.
As soon as Chief heard the danger that the female was in, his face went from neutral to concerned. He would look to Everest and say, "Young lady, are you ok? Do you need to be treated?"
"N-no… your majesty. Thank you for the offer though," Everest would respond with her head hung and ears pinned to her head. She was nervous, obviously, as she was in the presence of the King and Prince of Valika. The most powerful canines in the entire kingdom.
Chief would look her over as she refused to make eye contact in shame. He would then say, "Guards, keep the city on lockdown," He would then point to four royal king's guards who just arrived clad in Lightning Dragonsteel armor, "You four come with me." With a simple order like that the four guards would take the sides of the two royals and the hybrid guest. The King would then say, "Escort us to the library." The guards would nod and start to walk with their king, his son, and husky-wolf hybrid.
They would make their way out of the dragon stables and up the stairs of the castle. The king would want to get some small talk going with his son's guest.
"So, you are Avlianches's daughter?" the king would ask.
"Yes my lord," Everest would respond politely but still nervous as all hell.
"Don't be scared, my dear. He and your mother should arrive hopefully soon," Chief would say to try and calm her down. It did help a little because she looked up at him but only for a few seconds.
As the trio and guards got to the castle's library. The massive doors would open to reveal the large collection of books and scrolls. The queen would also be in there sitting on a nice chair reading what seemed to be an overly large scroll to Everest. Like a dragon could read it.
Rose would look up as the doors opened revealing her husband, son, and this new stranger. She would smile at them as they walked it. Besides the overly large windows on the far end of the library, this room would be one of the most secure. Therefore, as the king, prince, and guest entered. Chief turned to one of the guards, "That will be all. Allow us some privacy, but if you hear anything that is not normal. Do not hesitate to kick the doors in."
"Yes, my lord," The guard said as he nodded his head. Chief would then close the doors behind him. Everest would just be looking around the large library amazed but at the same time felt weird like she didn't belong there whatsoever.
"Who's this," Rose would ask as she got up from the chair and approached Everest. The hybrid would immediately look to the queen and bow in respect.
"This is Everest mother. She is the daughter of Avalanche from Norwich," Chase explained to his mother.
"Hmm," Rose would look at Everest over, "Please rise young lady. No need to stay down there."
Everest would look up from her bow and slowly get back up to all fours. She was trying to stay calm on the outside, while on the inside she was completely paranoid. She was with the most powerful people on the island. The King, Queen, and Prince of all of Valika.
"So, Everest was it? What happened in Norwich with you and some other canines?" Chief asked, jumping right to the point.
"I… uh…" Everest didn't know where to start? "Want me to tell you when it started?"
"That would be best," Rose would assure.
"Ok." Everest took a deep breath, "It all started when I left my home for the first time."
Back at Jade Mountain in the Main Cave Entrance.
Shadowseer would be in the main cave where the entrance to the school is. He would just be sitting there patiently. However, he would be the only one there, until the teachers started to show up that morning. Because the school year is about to start up again, Tsunami, Clay, Sunny, and Peril would have arrived earlier that morning to get ready for the coming year. Starflight, Fatespeaker, and Webs would have already been there for the past year because Starflight is blind and can't see, Fatespeaker can't leave Starflights side for her love for him and that he needs her help, and Webs has no other home.
When arriving, Sunny would have been the first one to arrive and see him.
She would instantly recognize him, knowing who he was from her mother, and turned tail and hid behind some of the rocks outside. Tsunami would have been the second to arrive and once she saw Sunny hiding behind the rocks on the outside, her warrior senses started to kick in. Ready to fight whoever is scaring her friend, she would enter and immediately see Shadowseer.
Instead of instantly attacking she would stop out of shock. The dragon who is known as the Red Death is in their school. WHY!? The dragon is only seen, not heard, and has done some pretty drastic things for survival.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" Tsunami shouted at the stranger.
Shadowseer would turn and look at a fuming Seawing princess. With a calm voice and demeanor, the hybrid would respond, "Is there something against me being here? Last I checked, anyone, can."
Not satisfied with that answer, Tsunami would become even more pissed and would stomp over to the Skywing-Nightwing hybrid assassin.
The hybrid would just look at her unfazed. "Why are you here?" Tsunami asked again but more strictly and not like a banshee.
Shadowseer would look at her and then smile musingly, "And that is a good question. I have some questions for your student known as Moonwatcher."
"What do you want with her?" Tsunami asked being protective of her student.
"We are both Nightwings. We both have the same powers. I thought she could help me with something that I have had on my mind," Shadowseer would explain calmly.
Tsunami would just look at him with daggers coming out of her eyes. Her face says it all. All this, but she would want to make sure it is the dragon she knew it was, "What is your name?"
The male hybrid would chuckle at the thought of someone asking for his name, "Well, I'm just as old as you and your friends, born on the same night. The only difference was that I was born in the moonlight while you were in a cave," He would chuckle again but say, "Shadowseer."
This only confirmed Tsunami's fears. Shadowseer, nicknamed the Red Death. The only known Nightwing-Skywing hybrid in Pyrrhia is known to be a top-class assassin. Known mostly for completing his job rather than his other hobby of reading and knowledge. Shadowseer takes pride in his work and likes his job as an assassin for the highest bidder.
The monotony of the entire situation was about to explode in a fight no one would know who would win. Sunny would just be behind Tsunami while Clay would have just arrived and on the left side of Tsunami. Starflight and Fatespeaker would have come out of the library to see what the commotion was about and when they heard the name Shadowseer they immediately took cover behind the wall but were still listening.
Silence filled the hall as the teachers of Jade Mountain Academy square up to a single hybrid who is more than capable of taking down the former Queen Scarlet herself plus guards without magic.
Just as all hell was most likely to break loose, two new dragons would enter the hall. These two are none other than Moonwatcher and Winter.
"What in three moons is going on?" Moonwatcher would ask innocently.
"Moon, Winter, go back to your caves. Let us handle this," Clay said as he positioned himself in between Shadowseer and Moonwatcher.
"What did he do recently?" Moon would roll her eyes in annoyance. The teachers would just be looking at her like she was crazy. Shadowseer just smiles kindly as he looks at Moon. Like an actual genuine smile that didn't look fake whatsoever.
"WHAT!?" All the teachers said at the same time.
"Moon, my friend. How's it going? I thought that you would be here. You seemed distressed when you left the Nightwing Village yesterday," Shadowseer would say to the younger Nightwing.
"I was Shadow, but that is not why you are here isn't it," Moon would look at Shadowseer and make her way to him. Clay, however, wouldn't let her pass.
"Moonwatcher, you're friends with… this?" Clay would point to Shadowseer, surprised.
Moon would simply nod her head, "After defeating Darkstalker, Shadowseer was one of the few Nightwings that didn't join him and after things got to sort of normal he looked for me. When I met him, I didn't know about the things that he has done, just another Nightwing like myself who has the same powers as me. He doesn't have magic, but was born on the same night as you and therefore he isn't 2000 years old," Moonwatcher would explain.
"Do you know what atrocities he has committed," Tsunami shouted in frustration?
"That's a bit harsh," Shadowseer smirked.
"Yes, but they are far from atrocities, he was only doing what he was hired to do. Plus the dragons he killed were very bad dragons that if left alive we would still be at war," Moon replied, still calm. Winter would just in the background, astonished about what his lover knows, "Plus, he has telepathy and foresight. One thing I don't agree with is that he wants the Nightwings to have a new queen, that new queen being…" Moon would pause and wait for Shadowseer to finish it for her.
"Moon. Queen Moonwatcher," Shadow finished.
XXX
Time stood still. It felt like an hour has gone by the time someone broke the silence. The only problem with that is that Shadowseer was the one to break it.
"You seem either impressed or completely shocked at such a proposal," Shadowseer stated while chuckling.
"You are out of your mind. She is too young," Clay tried to reason.
Moon took offense to that and said, "I'm nearly the same age as Queen Glory was when she took power."
The teachers look to Moon with even more shock Winter as well looks to Moon for an exclamation. Moon looks back to Winter and she sees the eyes of shock but also a concern. Her face grows from slightly infuriated to concerned when she looked at Winters's face. His spikes on his neck were lower as if it were a sign of fear.
Before she could say anything to Winter, he found to courage to speak first, "Why Moon? Not to doubt you or anything, but we've only had a few fighting lessons this past break. And not to pop your dream, but I personally don't think you could protect your throne if someone were to challenge you. Trust me, someone will challenge you."
Moon walked over to him and Winter spoke again but quieter, "What would happen about us? Most of my tribe believe I am dead and my body is in some deep cave. What would your tribe think of another Nightwing Icewing relationship that is bound to have a hybrid offspring? It will either start another war between our tribes and the death of many or… I don't know."
Moon looked at Winter for a moment. What he said was very valid and before she could say anything Shadowseer had to but in, "That is why I am here actually. I need to discuss something with both of you."
"The only thing you are going to do is leave this place at once," Tsunami shrieked, "You are not welcome here."
Shadowseer didn't even flinch. All he did was look at Tsunami and said, "If you want to keep your talons attached to your body, I suggest you stop talking and let the ones with the power of mind-reading and foresight talk to each other before something drastic happens."
Tsunami walked forward as if to start fighting Shadowseer saying, "Is that a threat?"
"Hold on Tsunami," Clay got himself between her and Shadowseer for someone died, "He hasn't hurt anyone as of yet. Maybe we should let him talk to Moon and Winter. Moon trusts him and nowadays it is very difficult to get her to trust anyone since… you know… him."
"But I don't trust him in our school," Tsunami stated.
"If you want us to talk somewhere else, we can gladly do that," Shadow compromised.
Tsunami huffed and Clay said, "That is fine, just don't hurt them."
Shadowseer chuckled, "Like I would want to hurt anyone right now. I'm not getting paid." Shadow would then look to the young Icewing and Nightwing couple, "I know of a place not far but secluded. We should go there if we are to talk."
Moon looked to her Nightwing-Skywing hybrid friend, "Alright… Winter?"
Winter nodded and the trio then headed out the exit of the academy and flew over to the nearby canyon to talk.
Later:
"So you know all of it?" Moon asked Shadowseer.
"Not exactly, but I have an idea of what your prophecy means," Shadowseer confirmed, "If it is not already obvious, the prophecy is stating you, Moon, by saying, 'The Nightwing of Foresight and Telepathy' and Winter by 'The Icewing of Grit and Strength.' Your other friends are briefly mentioned saying 'Sandwings of scales so gold, Friends of such will guide them.'"
"What about the line that states, 'The dragon of two tribes, lost his mark.' Who in the world could that be referring to?" Winter asked.
"To be honest with you, I hope it is me and not Darkstalker," Moon and Winter look at him with concern. "What I'm getting at is that it has to be a hybrid of some kind right, 'dragon of two tribes.' To me that says hybrid the question of who is still to be determined. Who are some other hybrids that are male and you know?" Shadow asked at the end.
Moon spoke up, "There is you, Darkstalker, and… that's it from me. Winter?"
Winter thought for a second, "Could it be Hailstorm? I mean, he is not a hybrid I get that, but he was turned into a Skywing named Pyrite. Could that be something?"
"Hmm, possibly, but it did say that 'he lost his mark,' and Pyrite was a female right?" Shadow thought out loud.
"Yes," Moon answered.
"But it could still be a possibility. We shouldn't rule it out completely," Shadowseer said.
"Then that begs the question," Moon started, "Who the moons is 'The Prince, of an Island Kingdom, The grey fur Blacksmith of one so dark,' and 'Fur of White, covers the one of knowledge and power.' Dragon's don't have fur.
This stumped everyone for a moment until Winter thought of something, "Wait, but wolves do and a lot of different kinds live on an island just far west of the shores of the Sandwings Kingdom. We may be able to get our answers there."
Shadowseer thought about that idea, "Hmm, that is great insight Winter, but now, what war is this speaking of. There have been so many from 2000 years ago to just recently let alone the… scorching."
"The Scorching?" Winter questioned.
"What about it?" Moon asked further.
"The scorching itself was a war. A very long and grueling war between the scavengers and dragons. We won as you can see because we are living, but there was a cost to the victory. Huge loss of life was had on both sides of the conflict. Maybe, it is not the dragons who want to go fight the island but it was the island that attacked first. They were the losing side and could have massed resources, trained other creatures, become more advanced over five thousand years," Shadowseer was starting to piece together the puzzle, "Oh moons, my friends this is a whole lot more complicated than we originally thought."
In the Castle in the Capital of Valika.
A patrol of human guards, four to be exact, were patrolling the lower levels of the castle. That is until the group leader noticed something out of the ordinary.
"Halt," he called. His fellow soldiers stopped as ordered.
"What is it, sergeant?" one of his troops asked.
"Look here," the sergeant then pointed at a large crack in the wall, "We have patrolled down here for a long ass time and now we just see a large crack in the wall of the castle."
The sergeant investigated the crack a bit more until deciding to proceed with a plan, "Corporal, give me your hammer."
"Here you go sergeant," the corporal said handing his superior his weapon.
The sergeant then begins to swing at the wall. When the hammer made contact with the wall ear numbing sound reverberated off the walls like a loud bell. However only part of the sound was actually from the hammer hitting the wall, the rest was from the wall crumbling to the ground like water bursts through light sand. The sergeant then reached for a torch that was on the other wall and was still lit.
What the four saw inside shocked them to their core, "Comrades, we need to report this immediately to the Captian and King."
AN: FUN FUN FUN
Oh, I love a good suspense ending.
