The old year is dead, it won't be long now,
Everyone's waiting with increasing anticipation.
When the new year comes, we'll all take a bow,
Our souls will prepare for a new resurrection.
Do not be afraid, do not take flight,
A second chance is waiting when the clock strikes midnight.
Henry Stickmin, the famous ex-thief,
Waits patiently in the parlor for midnight's chime.
Ellie and Charles wait but a moment so brief,
There's so much to do while they're out fighting crime.
Soon they come wait with Henry too,
But the new year will come only when it's due.
The excitement grows, the new year is coming,
The Toppats are waiting to unleash their kind of fun.
All their chaos is planned, the government will come running,
Noone will stop stealing until the new morning sun.
One group then falls asleep, and the other stays awake,
Who will be the one left standing to eat the cake?
The Wall and the Triple C, brothers in the shadows,
Meet up in secret only once every year,
Although the factions belong to two different powers,
Their similar connections allow them no fear.
The meeting only ends at new year's dawn,
and the brothers return home with their own special pawn.
New year's birth is now minutes away,
While the old year is lowered into the grave.
The countdown has started, today is the day,
There's nothing left of the old year to save.
The time has now come; 3, 2, 1!
Restarting the year has officially begun.
The old year is dead, the new year begins now,
Everyone is celebrating after much anticipation.
The new year came and now we must bow,
Our souls are prepared for the new resurrection.
We are not afraid, we will not take flight,
A second chance is here after the clock struck midnight.
Author's Note: Happy new year everyone. May this coming year be filled with new and current friends, lots of love, and bold action plans. I want to thank everyone who has read my poems with this little piece. I know I haven't been writing much, but I promise to try to write more often in the new year.
