There is a story, "The Miracle of the Valley" that is not recalled elsewhere. Cao Cao had to escape from Chi Bi by strafing through Yiling towards Xuchang. He got stuck in a valley, and he had only a small troop when Guan Yu jumped out from the bushes like a weirdo. With little fighting power left, Cao Cao reminded Guan Yu about his debt, and appealed to his brazen sense of duty. However, Guan Yu was having none of that. He made to strike Cao Cao down, but then a miracle happened. A duck flew over Guan Yu and offloaded its excrement into his mouth. Guan Yu had to go home at that point, so Cao Cao was allowed to escape. Hua Xiong had nothing to do with this, but he fell out of a tree nearby and died.
