Chapter 48

(24 hours later – Normal POV)

Kara, Chelsea and Tina sat by Kathy's side along with Optimus and Barricade; Kara hadn't stopped crying and neither had Chelsea or Tina. She had known Kathy since Kindergarten and now her best friend was dying because of the Allspark. Kathy opened her eyes; and saw her friends and Cousin first; and then she saw Optimus and Barricade.

"Hey, you were playing hero again, weren't you?" Kara asked as tears hit her.

"Yeah, I guess I was," Kathy replied.

"Shame on you, girlfriend," Chelsea said with a sad smile as Tina put her hand over her mouth and got up and ran not being able to take it knowing her Cousin and best friend was dying and she couldn't do anything about it.

Tina collapsed on the ground and sobbed; she didn't even hear Elita roll up behind her Sentinel watched the femme commander try to help Tina.

"Tina, I am sorry I know it's hard to keep going when you know something bad will happen to someone you love." Elita said.

"It hurts so bad, I can't help her or save her or fix it. I feel so damn helpless!" Tina cried.

Silence hit Elita at first; but then she transformed into her motorcycle form and activated her holoform. Elita sat down beside Tina; and she put her arm around the saddened human girl.

"You know, when the war was still going on; I was the commander for the femmes and I lost a lot of friends and family during the war. I blamed myself a lot of the time; because I thought I wasn't good enough as a leader." Elita said as Sentinel saw Elita in a different light as he transformed down into his vehicle form and activated his own holoform.

"What did you do?" Tina asked.

"I finally pulled myself together and did what a good commander does; but Tina your Cousin needs you right now. I am sure she is scared because she knows what will happen; she will need your help to be strong." Elita said.

"She's the hero though, I'm no hero." Tina said.

"Heroes come in all shapes and sizes and sometimes they have never done anything heroic before but it just takes one situation or one action to make them a hero." Elita said.

Tina looked over at Sentinel who had joined them sitting on the ground.

"She is correct," Sentinel said.

"Thanks Elita," Tina said as she hugged her."Thanks Sentinel," she cried as she hugged him too.

Sentinel was speechless; when she hugged him.

"I will stay by her side," Tina said as she got up and ran back to where the others were.

Sentinel turned back toward Elita and smiled.

"You were very impressive, Elita," Sentinel said as she smiled.

"Thank you, Sentinel," she answered with a smile.

Sentinel nodded as his holoform disappeared and he transformed; as Elita followed his actions and they took a walk together.

Tina sat beside her Cousin. She noticed Optimus was the only one there with her after; Kara was with Bumblebee and Chelsea was with Jolt. Optimus started to get up when Tina stopped him; and nodded for him to stay with them.

"You do not require alone time with your Cousin?" Optimus asked.

"No, I'm good Optimus." Tina said as she noticed Kathy was sleeping.

Tina brushed away the stray tears; which fell down from her eyes. Optimus knew Tina was thinking about what the future held for her Cousin; and Optimus couldn't help but feel guilty. It was because of their race that she would be offlining to give their home back to them.

"I'm sorry, Miss. Summers." Optimus said with a sigh.

Tina frowned then.

"It's Tina, Optimus no need to be so formal, okay?" she replied.

"Yes, very well." he answered as Tina glanced back at Kathy.

"She has always been my hero; I told her once I thought she was my hero. She blushed; and said she wasn't a hero." Tina stated.

Silence…

"She told me she wasn't worthy of being a hero; but she was and always will be my hero." Tina remarked as she reached out and touched her Cousin's face.

Optimus smiled sadly at Tina as his optics landed on Kathy once more; he had to make this up to her somehow, some way.
