Chapter 2: Trip to New York

In the city of Burlington it was now the beginning of spring, about one year after the threat of Jessie Arach Parker ended, things have now been more peaceful for Logan and his friends, aka the Anti Mutagen Team.

Today was a pretty exciting day as it just so happens that it was a grand field trip to the museum of natural history in New York City for Logan and his friends.

They were loading their stuff in one of the two staff's cars for the field trip as it was for the week of spring vacation.

"I can't believe we're going to New York for the new dinosaur exhibit. I hear they have new skeletons found!" Dylan said with excitement. He was wearing a brown long sleeve t-shirt with blue jeans.

"Well, I for one can't wait to get a look at the african exhibit there. I want to get a photo of the best animals." Betty said as she held out her phone with excitement of her own. She was wearing a pink short sleeve t-shirt and black soft pants while having her hair in a ponytail style.

Ashleigh came out with her bags. She was wearing a green t-shirt with light blue jeans and a green hat. She put her luggage next to Betty's and turned to her friends.

"I can't agree with you guys either, this is gonna be the best trip ever." She said with a great smile.

Last year, their other team members, Patton, Devon, and Ben graduated and now are living on their own with their lives while the four continued on in the Succeed Program.

Just then, their staff of the Howard Center, Nick Awd and Liz Stowell came out as they looked at their third year students with smiles on their faces.

"Are you guys ready for this?" Nick asked them.

"Yup, we sure are." Dylan replied back.

Liz then realized there were only three of them. "Wait, where's Logan?"

The three turned to one another before looking at them as Ashleigh said. "He's upstairs talking with his folks."

(Scene changes)

We switched the screen to Logan's bedroom as he was talking to his folks on zoom from his laptop.

"So, honey." Sheila Pinkney said to her son happily as she and John were video chatting on screen. "Are you excited to go to the Museum of Natural History with your friends?"

"Yup, we're all set and ready to go." Logan said to his mother with a smile. He was wearing a black t-shirt and grey khakis pants. As usual, he still wore his black hunting hat, shark's tooth necklace, and black bandana for a scarf.

"Well, have you got everything you need for the trip? Phone, money, ipod, and keys?" Johnny asked.

Logan smirked at his stepfather as he said. "Yeah I do, Johnny. I've got enough money with me and my essentials." He gestured to his luggage on his bed.

"Well, have a great time in New York, honey! Send us some pictures! And have fun with your friends too!" Sheila said to her son with a smile.

"You got it, Mom." Logan replied back to her with a smile of his own.

Then they signed off before Logan turned off his laptop and put it in his backpack with the rest of his stuff.

He grabs them and walks down ust Nick is waiting for him.

"There you are, Logan." Nick said as he saw Logan coming down with his bags. "So, are you ready for the trip?"

"You know it." Logan answered as he and Nick made their way out the doors to the cars as the others were waiting for them.

"Took you guys long enough." Betty said with a smile.

Logan smirked as he shook his head before he slipped one of his bags in the way back of Nick's car as he carried his backpack.

"Now, do we have everyone now?" Liz asked with a smile.

"Yes, Liz." Everyone said in usion.

Logan climbed into the front seat of Nick's car as Ashleigh and Betty climbed in the back. Dylan stuck with Liz as he placed his bags in the back.

Soon they were all on the highway going to New York as Logan was playing with his ipod while Betty and Ashleigh were watching a Disney movie of Aladdin as Nick was keeping his eyes on the road.

While that was happening, Nick asked his students with a smile. "So are you guys ready to go to the Museum?"

Logan took out his headphones and replied back. "Yeah, we all are."

"I'm just as excited to see the animals with Betty. I can't wait to see them as well as the marine animals." Ashleigh said with an excited smile.

"Same with me!" Betty squeaked out in excitement.

Nick then turned to Logan and said. "What about you, Logan?"

"I'm just as excited as you guys are. Dylan and I are planning to check out the new dinosaur exhibits." Logan said with a smile of his own.

"Don't you ever give up looking at them though? Those beasts are old." Betty joked.

"Well, maybe if you try to ride one, you wouldn't think they're old." Logan joked back before he turned to his game on his ipod called 'Ark Survival: Evolved'. "Besides, dinosaurs are more than just old, they're ancient and amazing."

Nick, while keeping his eyes on the road, said with a smile. "Of course they are amazing. But wouldn't it be great to see one in real life?"

Logan looked at him for a moment before he looked down in thought. Then he smiled. "Yeah, I guess that would be pretty cool."

"So, how much longer until we get to New York?" Ashleigh asked, changing the subject.

Nick looked at the G.P.S and it said in five hours.

"We should be getting there in about five hours."

Ashleigh and Betty sighed, knowing it will be for a while before they all will get there.

Logan yawned as he felt a little sleepy before putting his ipod away.

"Well, I'm gonna get some shut eye. Wake me when we get there." Logan said before he went to sleep.

"You got it, man." Nick replied back to him.

All of them continued their way to the city as Logan went fast asleep.

A little while later…

On the road, the Succeed Program group continued their way to New York whereas Logan was still having his nap. His vision began to change as he was in dream land.

(Scene changes)

In his dream land, Logan was so busy sleeping that he had no idea he was sleeping… on the rocky part of the ground.

He opened his eyes partly before he moaned and went back to sleep.

Then he heard a loud roar, which made him open his eyes all the way open as he scrambled to his feet.

As Logan got back on his feet, he noticed that he wasn't in the car anymore. He was in the future of his world. He could see that the sky was red, the buildings were no longer standing up straight as they were a bit crumbled and there were a few volcanoes in the distance with smoke coming out of them.

"W-where am I?" Logan asked out loud while looking around as he was the only one here. "Betty? Ashleigh? Dylan? Nick? Liz? Where are you guys?!"

While looking around, he failed to notice that he was being watched from behind a crumbled building as a mysterious human sized creature was in the shadows narrowing its eyes at the boy as it growled.

Logan continued to look around as he backed up against a broken brick wall, trying to remain calm and was starting to fail. Unknown to him, a huge shadowy creature resembling that of a dinosaur kept its distance as it stalked Logan from behind the broken buildings.

"Love the beauty of this world?" A strange voice was heard, making Logan jump in fright before he looked around for who said that. It sounded as if it was mostly calm, tranquil, and unemotional, but it also sounded sadistic, evil, sinister, manipulative and cold-hearted.

"Who's there?!" Logan demanded. "Come on so I can see you!"

"Why be afraid?" The voice asked. "Everyone loves a good masterpiece for their imagination to enjoy."

Logan continued to look around as he said. "Hey, for your information, this is something kids would have nightmares about. This isn't some sort of fun place to-"

Then the figure jumped out of the shadows and into the clearing, making Logan turn his attention to it before he yelped and fell to the ground on his back.

The creature walked over to him. It was a dinosaur-human hybrid with black clothing, black boots, three clawed fingers on his hands, sharp teeth in his mouth, his forehead had a red marking on him and spikes on the back of his head, and he had yellow eyes. He even had a scar going across his right eye as it didn't blind him.

He stared at Logan with a look as if it was calm, yet menacing and cruel.

"It may be a nightmare for kids, but this is a dream for me to live in." The creature said as he stalked his way to Logan, who staggered back. "I suppose you have an interest in dinosaurs. Well then, have fun playing with one."

Suddenly he disappeared while Logan still looked scared.

Then coming slowly out of the shadows was a Tyrannosaurus Rex growling menacingly at Logan, making him turn around with a horrified expression as he let out a scream of terror as the greatest predator of all time roared out.

Logan scrambled to his feet and got back up as well as running away from the dinosaur as it chased after the human boy.

Logan ran as fast as his legs could carry him as the T-rex continued to chase after him. Eventually, Logan came to a corner and gave a horrible shock.

He ended up at the edge of a cliff, which had hot boiling lava at the bottom of a volcano. Then Logan turned to go back, only to get himself cornered by the T-rex.

The dinosaur roared loudly as the ground started to shake and crumble, making Logan fall off as he screamed in horror, falling into the lava when…

"Logan? Logan!" A man's voice was heard.

(Scene changes)

Logan shot his eyes open as gasped in shock. He breathed heavily as Nick shook his shoulder.

"Logan, wake up! We're almost there!" Nick said with a smile.

This made Logan look over to see the Empire State Building in the distance. Logan looked to see he was still in the car with Betty, Ashleigh, and Nick in the real world.

He sighed in relief as he was glad that the horrible nightmare was over.

The view changes as the two cars were still heading towards the city of New York.
