Chapter 53

(Normal POV –Deserted Airfield base)

Kate rode with Kathy and Optimus; Kathy stared at her friend in disbelief. She couldn't believe she was there with her.

"I can't believe you're here," Kathy said.

"Vector brought me, and you I can't believe you've nabbed you the Autobot commander, is that cool or what?" Kate replied as Optimus interrupted her.

"Actually point of fact, I have nabbed myself a human for a mate." Optimus replied in a snarky tone; which made both girls laugh.

Kate leaned over toward Kathy, and said in a whisper filled with mirth.

"He's a keeper," Kate replied softly.

"Yeah, I think I will keep him around a bit," Kathy replied patting his dashboard making him shudder.

"Woot, woot, woot….!" Kate exclaimed which made Optimus laugh; and to Kathy it was the best sound she had ever heard.

They arrived at the deserted airfield base; and the other Bots and Cons watched as Kathy and Kate got out of Optimus and he transformed along with the others who had gone with him. The others were waiting for their leader to report; when Ratchet caught a glimpse of who was with Kathy and his spark nearly jumped out of his chest.

He transformed into his vehicle form; and activated his holoform; and then ran toward the other human female with Kathy.

"Katie….!" Ratchet exclaimed as Kate turned her head and gasped as her hand with to her mouth; while tears ran down her face.

"Richard….? Oh my God, Richard….!" Kate cried out as she ran into Ratchet's arms.

"Dear Primus, I thought I had lost you." Ratchet whispered as everyone gaped at the two not sure of what was going on.

"Okay, hold the phone; since when are Kate and Ratchet an item?" Kara asked.

"Were you going to tell me about this at all?" Kathy asked shocked.

"Well, I didn't know he was Ratchet…" Kate said before Ratchet's lips came crashing down onto hers.

"Holy crap, suck face much?" Tina asked in a fit of giggles.

Kathy rolled her eyes at her cousin then; Tina was such a trip sometimes. Optimus stared at his medic though; he looked confused and hurt though.

"Why did you not say anything to me, Ratchet?" Optimus asked as Ratchet broke the kiss with Kate and glanced up at his leader.

"I was planning to tell you, but when the things happened with Samuel and then you were killed by Megatron I had to dial things back then." Ratchet said as his attention went toward Kate then. "I missed you so, I am sorry it happened like it did." Ratchet replied.

"It's okay," Kate said running her hand over his face and kissing him once more.

Ratchet and his human, Kate Latcher had only been together for about a year and a half; but the truth of the matter was Ratchet was intrigued with her. Ratchet still did special things for her that meant the world to her completely.

"Come on, Kate I wish to take you for a ride," Ratchet said as Kate smirked.

"Okay cool, you can take me for a ride." Kate said as he transformed and she jumped into his vehicle form.

She was not afraid to banter with him; and he found that what humans called a turn on. It was also her wit that held him together though; she was a breath of fresh air to him. Ratchet was also impressed how she never judged their species; she cared sincerely and didn't ever bad mouth them. Most humans, tended to be different in front of them; but behind their backs say things that were wrong or just plain rude. Ratchet was annoyed with those types of humans, he really was. Kate had picked up here and there medical skills from Ratchet; and she would ask questions something Ratchet also found impressive.

Ratchet had taken Kate to a place where the two talked together about many things; and lost track of time. Kate glanced up at Ratchet who was looking up toward the sky; she knew when he was thinking and touched his massive palm where she was seated.

"Ratchet, what's wrong?" she asked.

He smiled then.

"You came into life and made it so much better; it's lonely in this universe without someone to share it with. It was bad enough for Optimus being a leader and prime; but I was feeling it too. Then you came into my life and virtually turn it into something that resembles peace and sanctuary." Ratchet said as he looked at Kate.

"You mean the world to me, Ratchet," Kate said as he glanced at her and cautiously lifted her up to his face.

"I am falling in love with you, Kate," Ratchet said.

She smiled then.

"Well, it just so happens, doc; I love you too." Kate said as Ratchet leaned in and pressed his lip plates against her.

"This old cranky bot would be lost without you, Kate," Ratchet said as she put her small hands on his face plates.

"I am not going anywhere, Ratchet; you're stuck with me." Kate said as he smiled.

"That is good to know, and I am never leaving your side I am yours for however long we have together, dearest." he said as he nuzzled her once more; which caused him to purr.

"You're purring," she said with a cute smile.

"Tell anyone and I will deny it," he said with a loopy smile.

"Wouldn't think about it, doc, now how about some sugar before we have to go back to base," she said as they kissed once more.

Kathy glanced up at Optimus and smirked.

"Can we have some private time too?" Kathy asked in her most innocent tone as Optimus glanced down at her.

He smiled at her then.

"We should go off alone too," Tina replied to Sideswipe.

"You mean all three of us, don't you? You can't be all up in Sides grill without me, we are a package deal." Sunstreaker replied.

Tina giggled and looked at her Cousin and friends.

"I am so lucky," Tina said going off with her Twins.

"Come on, Jolt," Chelsea replied as she got into her Autobot too.

Sentinel glanced over at Elita then and smiled and reached for her servo. "Shall we?" he asked.

"We shall," Elita said going with Sentinel.

Ironhide and Chromia had already conveniently disappeared from the others; while Megatron stared in disbelief at his brother.

"Our enemies could pop up at any minute and all of you are heading for an outing in interfacing?" Megatron asked with his mouth open in shock.

"Yes, we are." Optimus said. "I seriously doubt they will attack us much less find out where our base of operations is." Optimus said as he reached down and scooped up Kathy taking her with him.

"And what am I supposed to do?" Megatron demanded.

"Find someone to interface with," Optimus said.

"Oh is that supposed to be a joke, brother, who am I supposed to interface with?" Megatron demanded as Starscream coughed slightly making Megatron look at him with a snarl. "Not slagging likely, Starscream," Megatron growled.

"You know, I am your second in command because I am powerful; it could be interesting?" Starscream replied as Arcee rolled up and grabbed Megatron's servo and Starscream's.

"Let's go you two," Arcee said as both Megatron and Starscream looked at each other and started to babble like two crazed idiots.

"How long has it been?" Soundwave asked Shockwave.

"If you have to ask it's too long," Shockwave said as Sam and Mikaela opened their mouths, but then closed them again.

It was better that way…..
