I wrote this fanfiction a very long time ago, it must be nearly ten years ago now. So I thought I'd dust it off and retell this story, it will be nice reliving it again. I wanted to write about the Wammy House, the school always interested me.

I first remember reading Another Note, I immediately took a shining to Beyond Birthday a.k.a BB or Backup. I love the anime series too, it's still holds its own until this very day.

-I don't own Death Note.

-My laptop charger decided to die on me - I'm sorry for any spelling errors and silly mistakes.

-Thank you for the reviews, faves and alerts!

-This opening chapter is from my oc Elizabeth's point of view, my writing style will change after this chapter.

Enjoy!

Chapter 27!

The Next Day

Elizabeth groaned when she heard her alarm clock ringing from the bedside table, she opened one of her eyes and switched it off with a sigh. She felt really tired this morning, the Halloween party had gone on longer than expected. Somehow May had talked Mr Ruvie into letting the party end at 10pm instead of 9pm, she wasn't sure how she had managed to do that but she was his niece after all.

Elizabeth kicked her blankets away from herself and got out of bed, she then headed to the bathroom. She had a quick shower and cleaned her teeth before she got changed into her favorite blue dress. She fastened her black belt around her waist while she left the bathroom, she had a few minutes to spare before breakfast. She brushed her hair and put on some chapstick before she put her cardigan on, but she soon noticed A's denim jacket hanging over the back of her chair. He must have forgotten to take it with him last night. Elizabeth and A had left the Halloween party an hour early so they could have a catch up before lights out, he told her all about Los Angeles and the main attractions he had seen while he was staying there. He also told her that they couldn't find Elèanore, but it turned out that a few other students had gone missing from Watari's business contact's orphanage and the university's campus too.

Taking A's jacket from the back of the chair she quickly left her room while she put the jacket on, she got a few cheery good mornings from some students while she walked passed them in the corridor. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood this morning. She hurried down the stairs to the ground floor of the orphanage, but she stopped dead when she felt a weird fluttering sensation in her chest. She grabbed hold of banister while she rested her hand on my chest. The fluttering sensation soon subsided by the time she had gotten to the ground floor, she took a deep breath and crossed her arms while she walked down the corridor to the dinner hall. Elizabeth entered the dinner hall and took a wooden tray from the tray rack, she then chose some breakfast from the deli counter. She looked around the dinner hall and spotted A sitting with four blonde haired girls in the corner of the hall.

Elizabeth watched one of the girls drape her arm around A's shoulders while she laughed loudly, he didn't seem bothered by the public display of affection the girls were giving him. She took something from his hand and showed it to one of her friends, the other girls began to laugh when A began to speak with them.

" Disgusting isn't it?" Nonie asked before she joined her friend's side. " They're like a bunch of puppies drooling all over a new chew toy. Who knew that A would get this popular after being away from the orphanage for over a year. I really hate bimbos drooling all over my Brother. What the hell is wrong with you girls?!"

Elizabeth cringed when a few students turned around on their chairs to look at them, she hated when Nonie got overprotective of her Brother in public. A push the girl away from him and cover up his face with both of his hands, she had embarrassed him too. Elizabeth looked at Nonie, she was wearing her sunglasses again.

" Hey Izzy, how are feeling?" She asked with smirk. " I think I'm sugar wasted, I've not slept all night! How about you? Did you sleep last night?"

" I slept well enough, thank you." Elizabeth replied.

" I bet you did, I saw you and my Brother slip out of the side door last night an hour before the party ended..." She said with chuckle. " Where did you both go? You missed out on the pumpkin walk to the cemetery, it was so creepy! Backup scared the crap out of these five year olds with his werewolf mask. It was hilarious until one of them peed themselves, then the party was truly over."

" We just went for a walk and hung out in my room, he was telling me all about Los Angeles and its main attractions..." Elizabeth replied before she turned her attention back towards A sitting at the table. " It sounds like a nice place to take a holiday. All those piers with arcades and ice cream stands along the boardwalk, it sounds like heaven to me."

" God, you're so boring at times!" She said with a sigh. " Do you want to eat in the corridor with me today? I don't feel like sitting in the dinner hall with those puppies drooling over my Brother. I don't think I can stomach anymore of it! God he's so stupid, public displays are not allowed in The Wammy House!"

Elizabeth nodded her head at Nonie, she agreed to sit with her in the corridor as long as she didn't have anymore public outbursts. She took one last look over at A before she left the dinner hall with Nonie. They sat on some benches at the end of the corridor near an arched window. Elizabeth took a sip of her tea while she look out of the window, she watched some of the younger students playing football on the grounds.

" You're quiet this morning, have you lost your voice?" Nonie asked. " More to the point, why are you wearing my Brother's jacket? Did you steal it? Please say you stole it! It would break that innocent streak of yours which would amuse me!"

" I didn't steal his jacket, he left it in my room last night..." Elizabeth replied, she looked at her friend. " I thought I would wear it so I didn't have to carry it around with me, also it's cold this morning and I couldn't be bothered to find my own jacket. But I'll make sure he get's it back today, that's when he's finished talking with those girls."

" I guess that makes sense, it makes more sense than those girls drooling all over my Brother. What does he see in them besides short skirts and high heels?" She asked before she snapped her gingerbread man's head off. " I hate that he chooses to waste his precious time on those idiotic girls instead of his own family! I would even prefer if he spent more time with someone like you than them, he makes my blood boil! Why does he have to be so thoughtless?!"

" I don't know, maybe he likes trampy girls now..." Elizabeth replied, she placed her teacup down on the tray. " He's been away for over a year after all. People can change sometimes when they've been gone for a long period of time."

" What male doesn't like trampy girls?" She asked. " They're all the same, they think they can control you and mold you into something that you're not! I'm sick of them all, they'll point out all of our faults and destroy our hearts without a second thought!"

" Are you okay?" Elizabeth asked.

" Do I look okay?!" She asked, she dropped her gingerbread man on the floor and got up from the bench. " I'm sick of this place! Everything about it is poisonous! He's going to leave us soon and I don't know how I'm going to cope without him around, he's my rock!"

" Who is going to leave us?" Elizabeth asked.

" It doesn't matter, you wouldn't understand if I told you anyway!" She frowned before she picked her tray up from the bench. " I think I need to go and have it out with him, I'll not going to be treated like this anymore!"

" Nonie, who are talking about?" Elizabeth asked.

" None of your business!" She yelled.

Nonie screamed with anger before she threw her tray against the corridor's wall, she wiped a few tears away from her cheek and then hurried down the corridor. Elizabeth picked her tray up from the bench when she heard Mr Ruvie yelling, she quickly made her way back to the dinner hall. She needed to tell A about Nonie's outburst, she soon spotted him sitting at the table with the girls. She walked over to the table he was sitting at with the four girls, she stopped next to the table and placed her tray down in front of him. He looked up from some photographs he was holding in his hand, he gave her smile while he pulled his chair away from the table.

" Hey there Izzy, pull up a seat!" He smiled.

" Maybe later, but may I have a private word with you for a moment please?" Elizabeth asked, her speaking tone was serious. " It's important, it won't take long."

" Sure." He replied.

A got up from his chair and placed the photographs down on the table, he then followed Elizabeth over to one of the deli counters. She took an apple from the fruit basket and leaned back against the counter, she then held the apple towards him. He shook his head at her and grabbed a chocolate chip muffin from a tray instead, she should have known he would have chosen the unhealthy option.

" So, what's up?" He asked.

" It's about Nonie, she just had an extreme freak out in the corridor not long ago..." Elizabeth replied. " I know she can lose her temper at times, but I've never seen her act this way before. She was ranting about you at first, she said she didn't understand why you were wasting your precious time with those girls instead of spending your time with your family. I'm worried about her. I also think she maybe in trouble with Mr Ruvie..."

" Really?" He asked." What's she done to Roger?"

" She's done nothing directly to him, but I heard him shouting not long after she threw her tray of food against the corridor wall." Elizabeth replied. " I think you need to talk to her, I think something or someone is bothering her."

" I see, she's most probably getting jealous again over silly little things." He sighed before he took a bite of his chocolate chip muffin. " You know how childish she can be at times, but I'll go and speak to her just to see if she has any issues she would like to discuss with me. But I see what you mean about her acting oddly, I mean what was with that outburst she had not long ago in the dinner hall? I didn't know where to look, she needs to learn to control her temper..."

" I know, it didn't help much with those girls drooling all over you." Elizabeth said, she placed the apple back in the fruit basket. " I think that provoked her even more, she thinks you're wasting your time with girls like that and wants you to waste some of your time with someone like me. That's if you want to be with someone like me anymore, you seemed pretty cosy with that blond girl earlier..."

" Izzy, you know very well how I feel about you..." He said with a smile. " I wouldn't trade you in for a blonde, I'm more of a brunette lover. But for now I better go and find Nonie before she does something reckless. I don't want her getting put in isolation like Backup does sometimes. I've only been put into isolation once, but the once was enough for me..."

" Okay." Elizabeth nodded.

Elizabeth followed him back over to the table where the girls were sitting, he picked his bag up from the floor and hung it over his shoulder. She watched him take some photographs from one of the girls, he said goodbye to them and left the table. Elizabeth got a cruel glare from one of the girls sitting at the table, she quickly took her tray from the table followed after him.

" Do you need me to come with you?" Elizabeth asked.

A stopped Elizabeth and took the tray from her hands before he placed it down on a nearby table. He pulled a chair away from the table and told her to take a seat. She down on the chair and crossed her arms, she then looked at her boyfriend.

" I want you to stay here and eat your breakfast, it's probably safer if you did stay here to be honest." He said before he stole an apple from her tray. " I don't want Nonie to hurt you. You know what she can be like when she gets angry, but I'll see you in Art class. Just wish me luck for now, I'm gonna need it."

" Okay, I wish you luck." Elizabeth said, she took his denim jacket off and held it towards him. " You should take this with you, it's chilly this morning. Also Nonie questioned me why I was wearing your jacket, it's best if you take it with you."

" Nah, you can wear it." He said with a slight smirk. " It looks better on you anyway, also you're only wearing a dress. It would be ungentlemanly of me to take a jacket from a lady when it's cold outside."

" Who told you that?" Elizabeth asked.

" Watari." He replied with a chuckle. " I bet he was stud muffin back in his day. Your Aunt probably didn't stand a chance when he was around with his good manners and other disturbing grown up things. I think I should go now before I vomit, but I'll see you in Art class."

" Okay, I'll give you your jacket back later then." Elizabeth said.

Elizabeth watched him leaving the dinner hall, she put his denim jacket back on and turned her attention to her breakfast. She ate some of her toast and half of her yogurt, but she couldn't help but laugh to herself. A always made her laugh when he talked about Watari and her Aunt's past friendship, he always reckoned that they had a secret love affair when they were younger. It would be a nice notion to think that they felt some kind of happiness or love in their lives at one point, but she knew it would be impossible with the lives they both led.

Elizabeth ate the rest of she breakfast and returned the tray back to rack, she then placed it with some other trays. She brushed some toast crumbs away from her dress while she walked towards the entrance of the dinner hall, but she stop dead when she felt the same fluttering sensation in her chest again. she shook her head slightly when her eyesight began to blur, she began to feel unsteady on her feet. She took a few sharp breaths before she fell onto her knees, it wasn't long until darkness took her.
