Chapter 11: Taming the Dinosaurs
On the other island, unaware of what's happening to the base, Logan and his family were currently walking into a forest as they were now dry from swimming to shore.
Right now, they were hiking on a trail as they breathed heavily from walking for two hours.
"Man, how much longer until we find a clearing?" Terran complained.
Logan groaned in agitation. "We get there when we get there."
Ambrea moaned as she stopped on a rock and rubbed her feet. "Guys, couldn't we just take a nice break?"
"She's right, Logan. Maybe we should take a break for a while." Riley sighed heavily from walking about as he sat down with Terran.
"Alright, I guess we could go for a break." Logan agreed as he sat down on the grass.
"What are we gonna do now? If Mesogog is planning to bring the dinosaurs back, we might not stand a chance against him." Ambrea asked with concern.
Terran turns to her. "Don't forget about Salvatore Maggio and his mob gang."
"Thank you." Ambrea sighed in exasperation.
Logan had the exact same thoughts in his mind. If they were going to end this primeval threat, they will need the help they can get before it's too late.
"What do we do now?" Riley asked.
"Maybe when we get back to HQ, Rebecca and Lennox may know of other people that can help us out." Logan suggested as he got up on his feet and was about to walk ahead, but then stepped on something that made a loud 'Squish' sound which made him stop.
"Huh?" He looked down to see his right foot stepped in some blood and said in disgust as he lifted his foot off. "Oh, yuck. Ugh! Sick!"
"What?" Riley asked as he came over to him and saw the blood, which made him go wide eyed before he too said in disgust. "Oh, okay. That is disgusting."
Terran and Ambrea saw the blood as well before they turned to see a dead moose corpse lying on the ground showing its bones while it still had its flesh meat on it.
"AAAHH!" The four screamed in horror as they were catching their breath, staring at the dead animal.
But then something about it made Logan confused as he saw some claw marks on it.
"Wait, what's that?" Logan asked as he moved closer to get a better look at the marks.
He sees that it somehow had three marks on it as somehow maybe a dinosaur predator did this.
Then he looks to his left to see some trees fallen with branches broken and three toed footprints heading into an opposite direction. He goes to the tracks and bends down on one knee and places his left hand on the closest footprint next to him.
"Whoa check it out." Logan said as his family came to him. "Where do these footprints go?"
They saw the footprints going into a small cliff and they slowly moved closer to check it out.
Logan was the first to go check it out as his family follows him. Once they got to a good view, they saw that they were at the edge of a small clearing with trees, a pond in the middle, and a waterfall as well.
But then they gasped in shock and hid from something they saw.
Lying on the ground motionlessly was the same Allosaurus with the panther color scheme that had escaped from Mesogog's paddocks a few nights ago. And lying around him were dead deer bodies.
They carefully poke their heads out of their hiding spots as Ambrea asked her family. "Guys, is that what I think it is?"
"Yeah, it's a predator alright." Terran whispered to his sister.
"That's not just any predator." Logan said with wide eyes. "That's an Allosaurus."
"Is it dead?" Riley asked, scared.
Putting aside his fear, Logan decided to go check it out. "I don't know, but I'm about to find out."
He carefully slid down the slope and stopped as he eyed the predator carefully. He motioned his family to come down and so they did as Logan slowly made his way to the unconscious dinosaur before coming to a stop. He was now standing a few inches from the Allosaur's snout before he bent down on his knees and placed his right hand on its snout.
Strangely though, he could feel its heart pounding. It was still alive, but just sleeping.
"It's okay, guys. He's just sleeping." Logan said silently to his family, which made them sigh in relief.
Logan then let go of the snout as he backs away from the dinosaur. But then he noticed something on its left hind leg; there was a piece of metal sticking out of it.
Carefully, he walks to it before stopping and turning to the animal as it continues to sleep. He places his hands on the metal and carefully pulls it out of the leg, which made the dinosaur moan in pain before he continued to sleep.
Logan cringed fearfully, but sighed in relief and looked at the metal part and strangely, it was actually the needle that came off from the bag of one of Helen's agents that tried to stab it into the dinosaur's skin.
He walks back to his family as they were still away from the Allosaurus, still not taking any chances of going near it.
"What is that?" Terran asked, eyeing the needle.
"It looks like a needle of some kind." Logan replied back as he held the needle in his hands.
"Well now what?" Riley asked.
"We better get back, we've already worried our team enough." Ambrea responded back.
"Yeah, you're right." Logan agreed with his cousin as placed the needle in his pocket.
But before any of them could go back, the Allosaurus growled for a bit as Logan and his family turned to it.
And all of a sudden… the Allosaurus' eyes shot open, making the family gasp in shock.
The dinosaur turns its attention to them before he gets up on his feet and shakes its body for a bit.
Riley, Terran, and Ambrea moved back nervously and anxiously away from the Jurassic meat eater while Logan just stayed still with his hands out, motioning the creature to stay there.
But the Allosaurus soon had its interest in Logan as it slowly made its way to him as he stepped back a bit, nervously as the Allosaurus lightly growled.
Logan eyed a piece of the deer meat before he slowly and hesitantly grabbed the fresh meat saying with a nervous smile holding it out to the Allosaurus as it sniffed it. "Oh, uh, that's… that's a good little giant Allosaurus. Take the nice piece of deer meat. Go on."
Without hesitation, the Allosaurus took the meat from Logan's hand as he still had it out with the deer's blood on it.
The dinosaur chomps on it before swallowing it as Logan wiped blood away with a smile. But was taken by surprise when the Allosaurus walked slowly towards him as he said. "Uh, but that's all I got, buddy. Uh, wait, wait, wait! GAAH!" Logan yelped in surprise when the Allosaurus tossed him onto his back and took off running as Logan screamed.
"Whoa! Whoa! Stop it, stop it!" Logan called as he bounced up and down. "Stop, little big guy!"
Terran, Riley, and Ambrea watched in silent surprise as Logan continued to scream. Soon they started to laugh out loud.
"That looks like fun!" Terran chortled.
As the Allosaurus passed under a tree branch, Logan caught it and spun around before dropping back onto the Allosaurus.
"STOP!" Logan shouted, and the Allosaurus got the message and stopped. But Logan flew off his back and landed in the pond with a splash. The Allosaurus made a few grunt sounds as if he was trying to laugh.
Shortly afterwards with a deadpan face, Logan resurfaced with a lilypad on his head before he tossed it aside. His family laughed while the Allosaurus just stood there with pride.
"What are you all laughing at?" Logan asked irritatingly as he got out of the water and joined his family.
"How was your first rodeo ride?" Ambrea asked, giggling at her cousin's wild ride.
Logan shook himself dry before the Allosaurus lowered his head to his level as it looked at him with gentle eyes.
As he was looking at the Allosaurus, Logan did notice something about his eyes; they almost seemed human-like.
Then he reached his hand gently as the Allosaurus growled a bit, making Logan and his family step back a bit. The dinosaur settled down again as Logan took a deep breath before he slowly made his way to the Allosaurus as it softly let out a pur like growl. Slowly, Logan gently rose his hand up and gently placed it on the dinosaur's snout as it purred lightly.
"Whoa." Logan said, astonished, as he softly patted the Allosaurus. "You feel a little rough. Looks like your skin is so thick. You're still a beautiful animal though."
Even his family looked stunned at seeing the dinosaur so calm. Then he takes his hand off the snout as the Allosaurus softly growls a bit as it nuzzles against Logan, as if he has somehow tamed it.
"Aww, he likes you." Ambrea cooed as Logan softly patted his new friend with a smile.
"Yeah, I guess he does." Logan agreed with a smile.
"So what're you gonna name him?" Riley asked his little brother as he turned to him.
Logan then looked at his Allosaurus companion and thought of something. Soon he smiled before he asked the dinosaur. "How about I call you 'Jay'?"
The newly named Jay softly purred a growl as if he liked the name.
"He likes it." Terran said, grinning.
"So now what?" Ambrea asked, wanting to get back to business.
"We should probably get back before Mesogog finds us." Riley suggested the plan early.
That's when Logan thought of something. "Wait, we can't just leave Jay here. What if Mesogog and the rest of his agents find him?"
His family looked at him. "Well, what do you want to do? Take him back to HQ?" Riley asked sarcastically. But that was exactly what Logan wanted to do. "Oh no, oh no! Did-did you see what he did to those deer and that moose?! We are not bringing Jay back with us! The others will think he's a monster!"
That caused Jay to growl at Riley, annoyed. "Come on! He's not a monster! He's an intelligent creature with a right to live." Logan said in Jay's defense.
Just before they could argue, a rustling was heard as Jay became full alert as he growled while looking around in a defensive way.
Logan and his family became still as more rustling was heard. And then he noticed something weird about the leaves on the trees as if there were teeth attached to them.
But that's when he had a horrible realization! Uncloaking from the leaves came out the Indominus rex back to her original albino color, making her presence known as Logan and his family gasped in shock of seeing the Indominus rex.
"IT CAN CAMOUFLAGE!" Riley shouted as the roared out.
The huge dinosaur came down as Jay got in front of the four and roared viciously at the Indominus rex as she roared back before charging straight at them.
But Jay struck her by slamming his tail against her face, forcing to take a step back. A little dazed, the Indominus regains her senses and just before Jay could strike her again, she clamps her jaws on the Allosaurus' back, making Jay roar in pain as she hurled him to the ground away from the four as he went unconscious.
The Indominus rex turns back to them with hunger in her eyes as they stepped back a bit before they retreated under a tree with its roots sticking out of the ground as The Indominus rex closes in on them.
"Mesogog must've sent her to find us." Logan said as they back up slowly from the approaching dinosaur.
"You think?! What do we do now?!" Terran asked in horror.
Just before Logan could reply, huge footsteps came from behind the Indominus rex. Turning her head, she sees a Spinosaurus approaching from the forest.
It was one of the escaped dinosaurs then ran away from the TGRI building with seven dinosaurs. It was bigger than Jay and even bigger than its T. rex rival, but a little smaller than the Indominus rex. Its spine had an orange color instead of the original red color scheme, its eyes were a color blue with some webbed feet and very sharp teeth on its snout.
The Indominus stared down at the fish eater before it charged at him.
Taking this as a challenge, the Spinosaurus roars at the hybrid dinosaur just as she roars back. The Indominus rex was the first to lunge, as she bites on the Spinosaurus on the neck forcing him to the ground. But the Spinosaurus manages to get a footing as the I. rex pulls and twirls him around. The Spinosaurus' tail knocked over a tree down, almost crushing the four as they shielded themselves.
The Spinosaurus finally broke free of the Indominus' bite and snapped at her. They both charged as they tried to bite each other on the side. The I. rex steps back, charges and rams her head against the Spinosaurus' leg with the force of a runaway freight. The Indominus got dazed by that, but the Spinosaurus clamps his teeth into her neck.
The Indominus rex roars as she tries to break free of the bigger predator's grip, but the Spinosaurus twirled and tossed her to the ground and roared at her. Then he turns his attention to Logan and his family. He stared at them for a moment until the Indominus charged at the fish eater and clamps her jaws on his neck, making the dinosaur roar in pain, as she forces him to the ground.
But suddenly, a now fully awake Jay charges at the I. rex and whacks his tail against her face forcing her to let go of the Spinosaurus while stepping back as he gets up.
Regaining her senses, she glares at the two males as Jay roars out a panther-like roar while the spinosaurus roars out with him. They charged straight at her as Jay was the first to dodge her incoming jaws as she tried to clamp on to him, but he moved in quickly and slashed his left claw at her leg. The Spinosaurus grabs her face with his claws and used his strength to push the hybrid back.
While watching the fight of the three predators, Terran thought of something.
"We need more." Terran said to his family, which made them look back at him in confusion.
"More what?" Ambrea asked her brother.
"Teeth, we need more teeth." Terran answered.
This gave them an idea as Ambrea was the first to get out of their hiding before turning to her family.
"Okay, so… just stay here. It's gonna be fine." Ambrea assured her cousins before she took off.
The Spinosaurus charges at the Indominus rex, but she swipes her claws at his face, forcing him back a bit and knocks him aside into the water. Jay was about to charge straight at her, but she uses her head to knock him to the ground.
She turns her attention to Logan, Riley, and Terran, who were still in their hiding spot and charged straight at them.
The Indominus rex tries to reach them, but the boys backed away further into a rocky wall. The dinosaur uses her claws to tear open the roots with a roar as she tries to reach Logan, Riley, and Terran.
(Scene changes)
Meanwhile, Ambrea made her way into the same walk path they came in from early and tried to find something if there were any more dinosaurs on the island that could help them.
"Come on, there's gotta be something." She said looking around for any sign of more dinosaurs.
Then all of a sudden, large muffled footsteps were heard heading her way. Thinking it was a dinosaur, she grabs a big stone in her hands.
The footsteps came closer as something big was heading her way and then emerging from the darkest part of the forest was a male Tyrannosaurus rex.
It was the same male that escaped with Jay and the others from Mesogog.
He slowly made his way to her as he lightly growled. Ambrea nodded her head before she took off running as the male T. rex let out a roar, and chased after her.
(Scene changes)
Back with the boys, they were still trying to get away from the Indominus' grasp as Logan threw a sharp stick at her.
Ambrea ran back to the battle ground with the T. rex behind her. She throws the stone at the Indominus' shoulder.
The Indominus turns and growls before the male T. rex rams through the trees and Ambrea was thrown off her feet. The Tyrannosaurus roars and turns to the Indominus, and then roars at her.
The Indominus takes a step back and roars as the new arrival steps out and confronts her. The Indominus roars again as Ambrea lifts her head up and is behind the T. rex's right foot. The male Tyrannosaurus took a few steps forward and roared at the Indominus, and she roared back as well.
The boys came out of their hiding spot and had stunned looks.
The male T. rex charges with a roar. The two predators charged and as they near each other, they gaped their jaws open. And the T. rex grabs hold of the Indominus on the neck. And they lifted up as the T. rex then brought his over her neck. Ambrea begins to back away as the Rex's tail swings and knocks over a tree, and the T. rex roars and bites the Indominus on the neck. The Indominus shifts left, and then bites the male on the neck, making the T. rex let out in surprise. They brought their heads around, and then lunged with open jaws as the Tyrannosaurus bites on the side of the neck of the Indominus. The T. rex pulls her head from side to side as the Indominus rex' tail hits the top of an oak tree knocking it down. The male bites her neck as the Indominus claws his right shoulder.
She soon pulls free, and the two predators roared. The male T. rex attempts to bite, but misses and the Indominus claws the left side of his neck. She pushes his head aside, and then pushes the T. rex's head down. The male lets out a growl, and then the Indominus grasps around his mouth, and then forces him to the ground on his side.
The T. rex roars as the Indominus pins him as she got over him. Ambrea, close by, starts crawling to safety and the I. rex bites down on the Tyrannosaurus' neck as he roars. The dinosaur hybrid bites on the male's neck, and drags him towards the boys hiding spot where they were still hiding. She throws him through the roots as Logan, Riley, and Terran move away as the T. rex roars and snaps his jaws and is dragged back.
Logan then saw Ambrea.
"RUN!" She screamed.
"Go! Go!" Logan yelled.
They quickly get out of their hiding place as the Indominus pulls the male T. rex up, and scraps her lower teeth on the male's lower jaw as he roars in pain. The Indominus pulls the Tyrannosaurus down and crushes the tree roots under him as the tree falls on him while the boys run away, and the T. rex roars out.
Logan, Riley, and Terran quickly joined Ambrea as they can only watch helplessly. The Indominus rex walks towards male T. rex as he tries to get up, and she gets on all fours. She pins the male by the neck, and makes a death growl. The male T. rex made a hopeless growl and limps his head.
"NO!" Logan shouted in horror.
Just as the Indominus lowers her head to deliver the final blow… a caw suddenly was heard along with a roar and she lifts her head as the boys and Ambrea turn as more are heard.
They see the female Velociraptor and Carnotaurus, the same ones who escaped Mesogog's island, charging towards the Indominus as the female Raptor screeches with her claws out while charging at full speed. She leaps from the T. rex and avoids the Indominus' jaws as she lands on her right thigh. She starts clawing at her back as the Indominus tries to reach her, and soon the Indominus roars in frustration. Then a black tail smacked her in the face as Jay joins the battle along with the Spinosaurus as he lunges and bites down on the Indominus' neck. The hybrid growled as she then was forced into a nearby tree. The female Velociraptor leaps onto Jay's back as the Indominus hits the side of the tree. Then the male T. rex got back on his feet as he and the female Carnotaurus charge at her as the greatest predator of all time clamps his jaws on the back of the hybrids head as the female Velociraptor leaps back onto her back as the female Carnotaurus stabs her horns into the back of the dinosaur hybrids right leg. The male T. rex and Spinosaurus work together and forcefully drag the Indominus across. Logan and his family avoid the fight, and then the female Velociraptor lands in front of them as the three giants roared and the Indominus charges as the Raptor leaps onto her back.
Then they got to some huge rocks as Jay shoves the Indominus near them, and forcefully rams the Indominus as the Velociraptor leaps off and then is shoved into a rocky wall breaking most of the rocks off. The Allosaurus bites down behind her head, and then twirls and bites under her jaws and then throws her off her feet. The Indominus painfully got to her feet, and then the female Carnotaurus charged and swung her head and hit the right side of the Indominus as the female Velociraptor lunged onto her face. Then the male T. rex brought his head over her neck and twirls her and then the male Spinosaurus bites down on her neck. The Indominus swung her head, and the female Velociraptor was thrown off. Then Jay rams the side of the Indominus and was thrown off her feet and hits the ground.
The Indominus growled and got to her feet, shook her head as the five predators confronted her as she roared at them in rage. The five carnivores roared back at her in usion.
Realizing that she was now weak and outmatched, the Indominus made the wise decision and ran off back to TGRI.
Logan and his family stood there before turning back to the predators. Jay turns to face the four as they lightly growled as if they all were somehow acknowledging them.
The male T. rex turns to four humans and was about to walk over to them, but Jay got in between them telling the male to stay down. The male hesitated for a bit before he stepped down.
Jay turns back to Logan and his family before walking over to them. Logan was the first to walk out as Jay lowered his head to his level and nudged Logan lightly as he chuckled and pats him on the snout.
"Nice work back there, buddy." Logan congrats his dinosaur friend.
Riley, Terran, and Ambrea smiled before a soft chitter was heard beside them as they turned to see the female Velociraptor slowly made her way to them and cocks her head a bit in curiosity.
The Spinosaurus walks around Jay as he let out a soft friendly growl coming behind them as the male Tyrannosaurus and female Carnotaurus appeared by Jay.
Logan and his family each smiled at the dinosaurs respectively as he said. "You know, I guess you guys aren't so bad at all."
Jay lightly purred a growl in agreement. Then they each gave them some of the deer meat and fed them. Now they were tamed by the four.
Logan and his family studied the other dinosaurs.
The female Velociraptor has a bluish gray color on her skin with a white stripe with metallic blue in the middle going horizontally from her eye orbit, with one side has blue around the eye, while the other side's stripe stop so at the head, down to the tip of her tail which suggests that it comes from the DNA of a Black-Throated African Monitor Lizard used in her creation. She even had a few feathers on her body as well.
The female Carnotaurus had a light red color on her back, with some small spikes on it. Her underbelly was a light gray color, and her eyes were yellow with no hunger in them.
Finally, the male Tyrannosaurus had a green color on him with black stripes on them, his underbelly was slightly yellow, and his eyes were blue. His marks from the Indominus were still intact, but they will heal.
Suddenly, gunshots were heard in the background as Logan and his family turned to the source. In the distance, the military compound had fire rise out.
"Oh no!" Riley said in alarm. "The others! We've gotta go back there and help them!"
"I don't know if we'll make it there on foot." Ambrea said in worry.
Hearing the word on foot, Logan got an idea as a slight grin formed on his face before turning to Jay.
"Hey, buddy. You thinking what I'm thinking?" Logan asked.
Jay blinked as if he was getting the idea.
(Scene changes)
Loud footsteps were heard with the sound of trees getting knocked down to the ground as Jay's left foot stomped on a puddle and he came to a stop.
Riding on him was Logan as he had a determined look on his face. Then coming from behind them was Logan's family on their own pet dinosaurs. Riley was riding on the Spinosaurus while Ambrea rode on the male T. rex and Terran was riding on the female Carnotaurus as the female Velociraptor was running beside them.
"So what's the plan, buddy?!" Terran called out to Logan as he turned to him.
"Stop Sal and save the others with our new prehistoric pals!" Logan responded before shouting. "Come on, guys! Let's ride!" Jay roared out leading the way with Logan as they and the rest went to stop the mob gang while the T. rex roared out as well.
