"Listen mate I'm sorry.." Peter told his son, trying to assure him that he was only concerned for Carla.

"Why is it always about her- we were meant to be spending today just me and you" Simon yelled, turning to his father, tears brimming.

"And we have- Si, so why don't we go home and we can play a couple of games of your FIFA, ey? You know you always beat me" Peter threw a couple of punches in the air in front of him, a grin on his face.

"No.. just go and swoon over Carla like you've always done" he walked off.

"Si!-" but Peter knew, it wasn't worth it and followed his son back to the car in silence where he sat in the back whilst Carla looked out of the window.

Climbing into the driver's seat Peter looked over to Carla who had her hand rested on her legs and her head turned to look out her window, Simon sat behind her, his head down to his phone as he messaged his mum.

Once they parked up outside streetcars, back in Weatherfield, Simon walked off to meet Leanne, who was standing outside Victoria Court - her facial expressions alerting Peter she weren't impressed.

As his wife shut the car door, he turned to her "listen love I'll just be two minutes tops, go straight up" he nodded before walking over, building up the courage to fight this out with Leanne.

Carla glanced over to see her husband face to face with the one woman she purely despised, Leanne, the eye roll from the Battersby woman as Peter pulled his hands up to surrender - Carla turned round and unlocked the door to their flat, shutting it and looking up the stairs, wondering just how she's going to climb them in 7 months time..

"Lea-! Carla was in pain, so what I'm just not allowed to even be concerned?" Peter pleaded

"Oh do you know maybe Simon's right it is always about her, one little problem and you're straight all over her-" Leanne answered

"Si why don't you just go on up to the flat" she said passing him the flat keys, he went off indoors.

"So come on then - what's the reason for all of this?" Leanne turned back to Peter who had his arms wide out, his lips parted in loss of words, her arms crossing.

"Ding-" Carla dropped her pair of keys in the glass dish that was sat by the kettle, taking her silver chain handbag off her shoulder and dropping it onto the sofa, she slid off her long black winter coat and walked into hers and Peter's newly decorated bedroom. They'd finally made it just about how they wanted it to look like, or as Peter would say.. how CARLA wanted it to look like.

Dropping the coat on the bed before sitting on the edge, her hand laying on her stomach as she suddenly began to cry.. and cry.. her emotions going off the scale, unable to even stop them - the overwhelming feeling of being pregnant, the fear of loosing her growing baby and the pure fear of possibility of being a mother all rising and overflowing at the surface.

"Oh god.. mascara.. the flaming mascara" she said to herself, wiping beneath her eyes with the edges of her fingers before grabbing the makeup wipes, pulling out several.

"Oh my god-" Leanne's eyes widened.

"Leanne.." Peter said quietly

"She's pregnant!" The shock evident in Leanne's voice followed by a nervous laugh.

"Oh yeah go and tell the entire street whilst you're at it.. listen, please do not tell anybody we've only just found out- it is really early days" Peter came slightly closer.

"How could I not realise- with how secretive you've both been.." Leanne chuckled.

"Look I'm sorry, Carla didn't want to tell you, in case it would upset you, but if I'm being honest, it doesn't really have much to do with you anymore" Peter shrugged.

"Not much? Peter have you even considered how Simon's gonna feel when he finds out you're giving him a new sibling, adding another one to the clan-" Leanne scoffed.

"But no- Peter, I won't tell anybody, although tell me why I shouldn't.." she continued.

"Thank you - because, last time, Carla lost the baby once everybody had found out, I don't need her to worry any more than she already has been, I'd like her to be the one to announce it.." Peter answered.

"Hm.. fine. I guess congratulations are gonna be in order then" Leanne let off a soft edge smile, causing Peter to smile, quietly chuckling.

Having removed all of her makeup Carla heard the front door close, her eyes red from crying, the tears continuing to flow "Peter?.." she called out.

"Yeah-" he answered, walking into their room and pulling off his jacket.

"Love, you been crying-?" he came over, gently tucking each strand of her thick hair behind her ear.

She shook her head gently "it's nothing" she softly half chuckled, wiping each tear away from her eyes.

"Come ere.." he said softly, sitting down.

She leant into her husband, her chest against his, her head resting down on his shoulder, his hands rubbing up and down her back before beginning to cuddle her.

"It's just my hormones.. I'm only 5 weeks in and I'm already crying constantly, imagine what I'm gonna be like at 30 weeks Peter, do you realise how many issues this pregnancy might bring" she softly continued crying.

"It's okay.. hey, calm down.." he answered as he began to hear her crying.

"I'm gonna say things I don't mean Peter! And upset you, stress you out and annoy you, I'll hardly want to do things, I'll be huge.. I'll just be this one massive problem!" She choked.

He lifted her head up, holding both cheeks and looking her straight on in the eyes.

"Don't. You ever say that you are a problem, we will be just fine, problems might come along but it doesn't make me love you any less, don't ever think that I would think bad of you, this is all going to be so worth it" he kissed her forehead, her lips forming a little small, soft smile.

"I love you.." she said quietly.

"I love you.." he said softly, right back at her..
