Today I was at the field with Caesar helping him play soccer. He asked if I could be goalie while he tries to shoot in the goal. I didn't have anything else better to do at the moment so I decided to join him outside. It was good to get some exercise in.
He tried to take a shot into the goal, but I ended up blocking his shot. "Goddammit, Huey!" Caesar yelled. I smirked at how pissed off he was. I guess this is how athletes feel.
"Aren't you the one who asked to practice taking shots at the goal with a goalie inside?" I rhetorically asked him. "Yeah, but why you gotta block all my shots?" he asked still upset.
"Um because I'm the goalie," I said obviously. There was silence between the two of us for a couple of minutes until he got over himself. "You doing okay man?" I asked him as he sighed.
"Yeah, I guess so...I don't know...I have a lot to deal with after this," he said taking a breather.
"What might that be, you usually don't seem too stressed about anything?" I asked being a caring friend in need because he seemed like he really wanted to talk to somebody. I know he would do the same for me.
"It's this girl-" he began as I sighed. "It's not that kind of story jackass so listen," he sternly said.
"What about a girl..is it Jazmine?" I curiously asked him. "No, it's not Jazmine, I guess it's some girl I hooked up with a while back," he sighed.
"You guess?" I questioned.
"I don't know Huey, all I know is that my parents are pissed because they think I gave a girl HIV," he said sounding disappointed in himself.
"Well did you give her HIV?" I asked making sure. "I don't know Huey, it just all happened so fast. Some lawyer came by my house a couple of days ago talking about, you've been served," he exclaimed.
"Now I have to go to court and prove I'm innocent. And the stupidest thing about this is I don't even know who the girl is. They said her last name but it never rung a bell," he said frustrated.
"It's why you don't sleep around with a lot of females Caesar," I said making him glare at me. "I don't know why you and the others just think I sleep around with a lot of girls," he fussed.
"Okay, Caesar how many girls have you slept with over these past four years?" I asked him as he started to think about it. "Like intercourse?" he asked as I rolled my eyes. I'm guessing he knew the answer once he saw the way I looked at him.
"Around ten girls," he mumbled. "Exactly and do you remember any of them?" I asked as he started to think about it.
"Not really, I'm not a simp, I learn to move on from people," he casually said. He's not exactly wrong about that. I was the same way, but I had a harsh way of showing it.
"Okay, did she say when it happened?" I asked him as he shook his head. "No, all that happened was a lawyer came to my house and said I was served, so my parents made me go get tested. I haven't gotten the results back," he sighed.
"Well okay!" I simply said as I observed him to see he was bothered by the whole situation. "How about we continue playing soccer?" I asked as he smirked.
"You know what I got something planned that you won't expect," he said hyping himself up as he set up the ball.
Now that he has told me, I'm going to be expecting it. I got ready to block another one of his shots as he got ready to kick it. He seemed to have relaxed and then take a curvy kick towards the goal.
I of course was able to jump and block his shot, but the ball ended up bouncing off my hands and somehow back to Caesar. Then I saw him do a backflip while trying to kick the ball back into the goal.
The keyword is 'trying'. Instead of the ball going into the goal as he planned, he ended up knocking himself out with his own ball. He was flat on the ground, groaning to himself in pain.
At one point I wanted to laugh because I didn't think he was hurt, but he didn't get off the ground when I called for his name: "Caesar!"
"Caesar!" I tried again but he still didn't answer. I walked over to go check on him. Turns out he was actually out.
I looked at my watch to see it was almost about to be evening. I was going to have to hurry up and get ready for my first date with Jazmine. Even though I lived across the street from her my time for her was still valuable.
I sighed and decided to pick Caesar up. He was heavy but not that heavy. I walked to the car with him over my shoulder in this oddly hot weather. I put him in the back seat of the car and started driving towards his house.
On the way to his house, I found a lady who was pushing a cart of bouquet flowers. It was normal to see people trying to sell stuff around this neighborhood. I slowed my car down and rolled my window down.
She started to come to a complete stop with her cart just like I did with my car. "How much are you selling those?" I asked her. "Which one?" she asked with an accent behind her tone. I looked around to see they all kinda looked nice.
It was some pink ones that looked really nice. I think Jazmine would like those because she likes anything pink. It's her signature color along with green.
"How much for the pink ones?" I asked her as she picked them up. "They are $30," she said making me look at her funny. I had to correct my facial expression and not have the mindset of my Granddad if he was in this situation.
He probably would still buy them, but that much for flowers that are gonna die within a couple of days? I just sighed and pulled out my wallet. I had given her three tens and she gave me the bouquet of flowers.
Jazmine better be lucky I'm feeling nice today. "Thank you!" the lady smiled at me. I just waved her buy and left. She must be trying to start a small business.
After a minute or two I had made it to Caesar's house to see his mom getting out of the car. She was in her nurse's outfit meaning she was coming from work. I got out of the car and opened the back door.
"Oh hi, Huey!" she greeted me with a smile. Caesar's mom was a short Jamaican woman who had locs just like Caesar's. Ever since they've moved here she has always been a kind woman towards me.
I highly respected her because she was one of the ideal versions of being an independent woman. Plus as one of the only black women in the hospital, she has earned her respect as a nurse. I would think twice about crossing her.
I pulled Caesar out of the car and put him right back over my shoulder. I looked at her to see she was taken back. "What happened to him?" she asked with concern behind her voice.
"We were practicing soccer today and he knocked himself out with his own soccer ball," I clarified as she looked at me like I was dumb. I walked pass her towards the front door as she still stood in place. I put Caesar on the couch and went to get an ice pack.
"Boy that sounds dumb as hell, I don't think Michael would do something that dumb," she said walking to the front door unlocking it. "But it is, I literally saw him with my own two eyes knock himself out with his own ball," I argued.
She opened the door up to the house as we both entered in. "Really, so what exactly were you doing when he did this?" she suspiciously questioned. "I was in the goal waiting for him to kick it towards me," I answered as she crossed her arms
"So did you kick the ball at him or did he really kick himself with his own ball," she asked once again as I laid him down on the couch. "For the last time, Caesar knocked himself out with his own ball. He tried to kick it in by doing a backflip," I repeated myself.
She still looked like she didn't believe me. "You know what, I'm not fin to sit and tell you all day I didn't do it, I'm going to leave here and go on my date," I said leaving her house. I got in my car and drove off home to get ready.
...
I was in my bathroom looking at myself in the mirror. I dressed in a black button-up shirt along with some black pants. I kept buttoning and unbuttoning my shirt because I wasn't too sure which was perfect.
Then I checked my hair to make sure it wasn't too stiff. I had washed it today when I came home from Caesar's house. To remind you, Caesar and I were at the soccer field practicing his shots, and we were both sweaty.
I don't feel like Jazmine being disturbed by my hair smelling bad again. That was one thing I thought I kept in check about myself was my hair. But I've been so busy lately that I would barely have time to do it.
Now I'm trying to clear some things from my schedule and have time to wash and style it overnight. It takes a lot of management!
"Hey Huey, I need you to run to the store for me tomorrow," I heard my Granddad say coming into my room. He had spotted me in the bathroom and looked taken back.
"Boy where the hell are you going all dressed up?" he asked.
"If you must know, I'm going on a date tonight," I said readjusting myself.
"With who?" he asked as I bit down on my bottom lip. I'm not too sure if I feel comfortable telling my Granddad that I'm going on a date with Jazmine tonight.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" he questioned as I looked at him. "A girl, Granddad, why would you think I am going out with a guy?" I immediately questioned.
"Well, Huey you've been acting salty lately, or really almost your entire life, and I was beginning to think that you might be for the other side," he clarified as I looked him funny.
He recognized this and defended: "Plus your brother is always calling you gay, so that's another thing."
"Riley always calls everything gay, he's been doing that ever since he could pronounce the word. But if you must know, I'm going out with a girl from school," I said unbuttoning my shirt once again.
"Ah, okay, have fun and don't bring any great-grandbabies back to my house," he warned.
"Will do!" I agreed. He was about to leave my room until he said: "Button up your shirt, don't be sending this girl the wrong message, I know what you doing."
Buttoned all the way up it is. I checked myself once again before I left my bathroom. I grabbed the bouquet of flowers I bought today and started heading over to Jazmine's house.
We decided to have our first date at her house since I didn't want to go to any restaurants in the area. My Granddad was probably not going to let me go uptown late at night. He would assume I might be doing something I have no business doing.
All the restaurants around here don't have much on the menu. You have to go uptown to get an actual vegan meal instead of salad and veggies.
I stood in front of Jazmine's front door and rung the doorbell. I took a deep breath as I waited for her to answer. When she did answer she was smiling really hard. Not one of those crazy smiles but more like the ones where you're excited to see someone.
"Hi Huey, you look nice!" she said still smiling. "Hey, Jazmine!" I waved at her for some odd reason. Who the fuck waves? "Umm, these are for you!" I awkwardly said giving her the flowers.
She leaned in to smell them and she seemed to have enjoyed it. "Awe you remembered, I didn't think you paid attention to some of the stuff I told you," she said turning a little pink.
"I listen even if it's just nonsense," I remarked. Like when she tells me all the drama that goes on at school, the boys that have a crush on her or that she has a crush on, her and Cindy's arguments, and so on.
"Okay! Well, I pulled out some of the ingredients for what we are going to be making," she said pointing towards the kitchen. She put the bouquet of flowers on a small table and then started making her way towards the kitchen.
I followed her to see that she indeed had everything situated. I looked to see she had pulled an apron out of the drawer for me. When I had seen what it looked like I didn't know what to say.
"I'm not wearing that," I said shaking my head. It had 'Daddy' in all caps written across there.
"Why not?" she asked. "Read what it says," I told her as she looked at it.
"Okay, what's the problem?" she asked acting all confused. What's the problem? The problem is that is a sexual term used by most couples and the other is that it's Tom's apron.
It sometimes bothered me that Jazmine had an innocent mindset. There were some things that I was surprised she didn't know about. For instance, when you call guys my age 'Daddy' that strikes a sexual nerve.
"Just wear it so you won't get your clothes dirty," she simply said. "Now get to work Daddy!" she said clapping her hands. "Please don't say, Daddy," I begged.
"You're giving me mixed signals by saying it. And I beg of you to not tease me tonight," I explained. I felt myself hardening and I was hoping she wouldn't notice.
I wanted to rip her clothes off and have sex with her right in the kitchen. I bet she would still be tight from our first time since she hadn't had it long and good after a while.
"Ok, I wasn't planning on calling you that, but sorry to make you uncomfortable," she sadly said. I just don't her calling me that until we officially start dating. I don't feel like having sex if we're semi-dating.
I put on the apron as she pulled out a peeler. "So what am I going to be doing?" I asked. "You're going to be peeling/cutting these avocados," she instructed giving me the peeler.
"You know how to use this?" she asked as I shook my head. I don't have any of these types of materials in my house. My Granddad would be way too cheap to even buy it. He would tell me to use a knife since it's the same thing.
"Ok this is how you do it," she said grabbing an avocado. "First you're going to evenly cut it open, take the seed out, and then you slide the cutter across inside," she said showing me step by step. I started to do it myself and catch onto it.
"So what are we exactly making?" I asked taking the seed out of the avocado. "We are going to be making Blackened Tempeh with Avocado with kale and vegan cajun ranch. Have you ever had that?" she asked me. "No, I haven't tried it, but it sounds good," I said imagining the meal.
I don't usually eat vegan meals like that. It only happens when I come over to Jazmine's house for dinner. She was nice enough to make me an extra plate when I came over for dinner at her house.
"Yeah it is, but while we're preparing the food, what do you want to talk about?" she asked. What the hell are we supposed to talk about.
"Umm, how was your day today?" I asked making it the most common question. "It was alright, nothing special if you want me to be honest. What about you?" she asked.
"Other than Riley and Grandad yelling at each other, Ruckus being races, Riley acting like he and Cindy are grown, Ceasar and I talking about political stuff, and Hiro testing out some new beats," I told her.
This was usually a normal thing for me. I had to get used to it over the years. I know I didn't like it
"Sounds like a lot, you know I always wondered if Ruckus knew that he was African American too," she said with curiosity in her eyes.
"He claims he is white," I mumbled. He has been convinced that he is why even though his skin is black. I can't fully blame him because his mother put him under that influence.
"He doesn't look white or maybe he is. Maybe he's either hyperpigmentation or colorblind," she guessed. No, he's black, but I'm not going to debate about that because it's already obvious.
"Maybe, but it doesn't give him a reason to be races. I remember he was criticizing me and Riley that one time he came to babysit us and Riley and I shot him with our BB-Guns," I told her the time Ruckus thought he was going to stay and babysit Riley and me.
Surprisingly, Jazmine was laughing at the story. Usually, she would say that was a mean thing to do. It almost made me crack a smile, keyword: 'almost'.
"Why do you guys even have guns in your house?" she asked me which wasn't a surprise to me. "Right to bear arms!" I retorted. "Oh, that makes sense. I can never think about holding a gun, I don't even want to see them," she said without arguing.
I could never picture Jazmine possessing or even holding a gun. She would be too afraid to shoot anybody even if they were a bad person.
"Well you know guns have been around since 1364 and people are just using them for their advantages," I explained.
"I hate some of those advantages, a matter of fact; I hate when people gotta resort to violence to solve their issues. I understand when they are using it for a good reason, but just for nonsense makes me really upset. It kinda makes me scared that my dad has to deal with those types of people," she explained.
She's not wrong, there were a couple of times something like this had happened around here. It makes me worry about Riley because he would be one of those people to use a gun for an irresponsible reason.
"I knew you hated when there was no world peace, but I didn't know you had deep thoughts about it," I said. I never known Jazmine as the deep type of person. She would always describe what would be a lie of reality and not have input on it. Just a visual expectation!
"Well, I do and it makes me upset that there will never be world peace in some countries," she sadly said. So she does know it will never be world peace. She just wants to have hope that it possibly might happen.
"Okay enough about this talk, can we please talk about something else, like something funny?" she asked me. I looked at her to see she was about to cry about the topic of no world peace.
I didn't want her to cry on our first date so I decided to change the topic: "Yeah, umm, well today when Cesar and I went out to the soccer fields, he had kicked himself with his own ball."
"Oh my gosh, how?" she asked with concern as I tried my best not to laugh. I knew he was going to be alright but reimaging the whole thing almost made me want to laugh.
"He tried to do one of those backflip kicks into the goal and it ended up going wrong. He kicked the ball to his face while flipping and he had knocked himself out," I explained the whole story as she started surprisingly laughing.
"Is he okay?" she asked still laughing. "I took him home and put ice on his forehead then left to go prepare for the date," I told her. "Huey ice doesn't solve every problem," she said rolling her eyes.
It's what nurses do when they don't want to deal with kids that come to their office.
"Well he is okay and no serious damage was done. All that was done was humiliation!" I said smiling to myself. I shouldn't be doing that, but I couldn't help it. There are just some things that satisfy me.
"Does his parents know?" she softly asked me. "I don't think they know. He told me his parents are celebrating their anniversary, so they're most likely gone somewhere," I told her. I wasn't fully lying, his dad didn't know, and Caesar did mention something about their anniversary before we went to the soccer field.
I didn't want to talk about how his mom was upset with me. I can tell she still didn't believe my story after I told her the truth. 'I don't think Michael would do something that dumb', that dumb my ass, he's always doing something stupid, it's Caesar.
I can name a couple of times I've seen him with my own two eyes do something dumb. I remember when him, Riley, and Hiro went to go participate in the senior prank, they decided to mow the football field with a bunch of curse words.
I didn't do anything but just watch all of them do it. I'm still surprised they haven't been caught.
"Oh my! I might go check up on him tomorrow to see how he is doing," she said making me growl under my breath. She noticed this and gave me a threatening look: "Is there a problem?"
"No!" I said through my gritted teeth. We were finally done fixing the food and she grabbed two plates. I followed behind her as she set the food on the table.
I couldn't hold back my concern from her going to Caesar's house. Now that I know Caesar's intentions towards Jazmine I can't let him shoot his shot.
"You know what I do have a problem with it," I told her. "Ok, what's your problem? I thought we settled the whole misunderstanding thing," she said. We did, but if you were me you would be doing the same thing.
"Yeah, I understand you're nice, but-" "But if you are so uncomfortable with me going to go see our other friend; why don't you come with me," she said cutting me off. "You know as a matter of fact I will come along," I agreed. At least she was offering.
"Splendid!" she exclaimed. We both sat down at the table with the food.
"Okay, let's say grace!" she said holding her hand out. I honestly didn't want to do it but at the same time, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I supported religion but it sometimes didn't make sense to me.
"I'll make it quick!" she said as I gave her my hand. At least she was making it quick, that's something I can negotiate with her. "Lord we thank you for this food, aye man!" she prayed. She really wasn't lying when she said she'll make it quick.
"You say grace all the time?" I asked to start another topic. I didn't want this date to be awkward with the both of us just sitting in silence. "I don't go to church as much like I use to. I usually go on once in a while," she said not really answering my question.
I asked if you say grace, not if you still go to church. I'll just ask another question.
"Umm, how's dance going for you?" I asked knowing she'll talk about that.
"Uhh it's not going so well, everybody's either not getting the routine down or they aren't doing good in school," she exclaimed. I don't blame her for being upset about the dancers.
I use to think football and basketball players were dumb. I mean some of them actually are, but dancers never crossed my mind until I had a class with some of them.
"Yeah, I have a class with some of the people you dance with. They usually sit by the smart kids in class and cheat. One of them even tried to cheat on me," I mumbled to myself. I can understand if someone is decent in school and they may have trouble at times, but them not even trying to do their own work says a lot about them.
"Yeah and the sad thing is that this is varsity!" she fussed. I don't blame her for being upset. I would be the same way if anybody in my club was slacking off in class.
I usually don't care, but if we're traveling somewhere that becomes an issue for everybody. We have to put on fundraisers and work hard to earn the money to go somewhere. And if anybody does anything bad in school then the principal will cancel everything.
"So enough about me, how's the A.F.R.O Association Club going?" she asked. I guess she wanted to hear how I've been.
"It's going good, we're planning a fundraiser so we can donate money to the people in Africa," I told her as she smiled. "That's good!" she said.
"Yeah and Riley keeps trying to offer his assistance," I lowly mumbled. "No no no no no no no no no no...do not let Riley run a fundraiser again," she immediately said shaking her head.
She, Riley, Cindy, and some dorky-ass kid all formed a group where they worked together in the fundraiser to sell chocolate. Luckily when they were given the opportunity she and the other kid dropped out of it while Riley and Cindy got a taste of how business actually works in gangs.
"Yeah, I'm not going to need his assistance. I will admit he can bring more money because he knows where to get around, but then it will get out of hand." "Yeah cause it was fun doing the fundraiser until it got out of hand," she agreed. Well, at least she knows what I'm talking about.
"I remember he was upset with me when I had donated all that money to help animals," she said laughing a little at the thought. "He was pretty pissed that day when I had told him what you did with the money," I said.
I was glad Jazmine got rid of all that money and donated it to something good. That's just lets you know how considerate she is. Knowing Riley, he would have kept it for himself and did something he had no business doing.
"Well at least I did it for a good cause instead of getting involved with mean guys who shoot at you, so I feel no shame at all for it," she confidently spoke. At least she knew to stay out of trouble like that. I had to give Riley a bulletproof vest, luckily he came back safely.
"You shouldn't, you did what all people should do in the fundraiser, and thanks to you specifically all those animals are still doing well till this day forward," I said. I looked to see she was covering her face up for some odd reason.
"Yeah, I'm proud about that. The one thing I wasn't proud of was eating meat. A year later once I found out where meat came from I was upset with myself," she said becoming gloomy.
I looked at her funny and I didn't care that she noticed.
"Where did you think meat came from?" I immediately asked wanting to hear her reason. "I didn't think about where meat came from. I just thought they called it meat, I didn't think animals were made of meat," she clarified.
Something most people would shockingly find out.
"Is that so!" I lowly said. It started becoming quiet between the two of us and it was just awkward.
"So umm how was the sex for you?" she asked out of the blue. Why would she asked that, I thought we had put that behind us when we talked. I honestly didn't want to talk about it.
It was awkward for me and I was just trying to get it over with at one point. I know they say your first time is supposed to be special but I feel it should be special when I develop with my moves later on.
I like the feeling of sex but I want to do it on a special occasion or when we're both feeling horny and we won't hold back on each other. Just the thought of it was kinda putting me in the mood. I can see why men think nothing but sex.
"Wasn't bad," I simply said. We both didn't really do much. She laid there, I licked, inserted my dick inside of her tight pussy, and we both came, the end!
"What about you?" I asked to be fair. "It was...decent!" she said trying to find her words. "Decent?" I questioned. "Yeah it wasn't too good and it wasn't too bad," she said looking down while playing with her food.
"Let's change the subject, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?" she thankfully answered. "Didn't you hear, the gang's parents and us are all having Thanksgiving at my Grandad's house?" I reminded her. For some odd reason, I don't know why all the celebrations are at my house.
Cindy and Ming's houses are fucking mansions. Why can't we just have Thanksgiving there?
"I'm surprised and shocked," she said taken back. "About what?" I questioned.
"Mainly not hearing about the news and that we're all having it at Mr. Freeman's house. No offense, but it's kinda obvious Mr. Freeman doesn't like when some people are at his house," she said. She's not wrong, my Granddad hates having guests over unless it's a pretty young woman.
"You're right on how he doesn't like when people come to his house. When he tells you, you can come in at any time, he's being rhetorical." "Yeah, I kinda figured, which is why I always knock," she said. It's nice that the most naive person in the neighborhood knows common sense at times.
"The only person I know that he shows some kindness to is you," I told her. It was true, whenever it came to anybody else my Granddad was mean, but when it's Jazmine he was nice as a butterfly. I guess that's because Jazmine hasn't done anything bad.
She doesn't drink or smoke, she rarely stays out late, she checks in with him, etc.
"Most of the time everybody likes me, I'm just a nice respectful girl," she truthfully spoke.
"Yeah, you are...Jazmine, I'm not sure if I ever have seen you do anything mean to somebody even when they were being mean to you. Most of the time I think people who are cruel to you just deserve karma," I said as she started giggling. Why is she giggling about this?
"Huey I'm never going to waste my time trying to ruin someone else's life. Their past + present will reflect on their future. The best I can do for that person is pray for them and hope the best for them," she said smiling.
"Plus you are one of the people that already gotten karma," she said trying to be slick.
"When?" I immediately questioned. "When you got head-butted by your former best friend," she said being funny. "That was not funny," I mumbled. "Maybe not to you, but for me it was. I'm sorry your nose was hurting, but at least it healed," she said trying to contain laughter.
I can't even be mad at her at the moment. Now that I think about it, I did kinda do her dirty. So me getting head-butted was karma in her book. I remember that day she had made fun of me until it became old news. Now that it is brought back up she remembers how funny it is.
"Yeah, I learned one lesson that day," I said.
"Yeah and that was?" she chanted.
"To never shake hands and try to amend with somebody," I simply said. I didn't trust anybody after that. I was trying to be the bigger man in the situation.
I looked to see both Jazmine and me had finished our food. I didn't want tonight to end but if I stayed longer either my Granddad was going to call or Jazmine and I were going to repeat what happened last time I came over.
"Well Jazmine, thank you for the lovely dinner, I'm glad someone around here gets the meaning of not eating meat," I thanked her. "You're welcome Huey!" she said awkwardly smiling.
"You need me to stay or are you good?" I asked of course concern. I know Jazmine gets scared staying by herself sometimes so I try to be a helpful option. If she wanted me to stay I wasn't going to sleep in her room like last time. I would at least try the couch.
"I'm good with staying by myself, I'll call if anything goes wrong," she assured me. "Or just come to my house if needed," I said. "
Okay, thanks for the offer. Good night Huey and get home safely!" she said as I went to open the door. "Jazmine I live across the street, nothing bad is going to happen," I said pointing at my house.
"I know, but anything could happen, so stay safe!" she said hugging me. It will literally take me under a minute to walk over to my house, but at least she was concerned for my safety.
I headed home across the street and thought about tonight. Our first date wasn't so bad, we had awkward conversations but it was still good. I guess I won't mind this semi-dating thing.
Thank you for reading!
