"You two, the nerdy ones!" The alien calls Dipper and Velma forward.
"I have a name you know," Velma spits.
"Yeah! I umm…" Dipper falters as he tries to agree with Velma.
Velma sighs and rolls her eyes. She can't help but think she'll easily beat the poor boy who can barely spit out a sentence.
"Paranormal trivia!" The alien shouts silencing the contestants and with a snap of the alien's fingers, Velma and Dipper are now each standing behind a podium with a button in front of them.
"The first person to ring with the correct answer will get a point. If the person to ring in is incorrect then the other will get the chance to answer the question. If both of you are incorrect, nobody gets a point."
The questions range on all sorts of topics. Ghosts and ghouls, vampires, witches, gnomes, curses, books, legends, and all the other creatures of other dimensions.
Dipper wants to say that his last summer of reading journal 3 had prepared him for this event but not in the way, Velma's more experience had prepared her. On top of that, Dipper's anxiety gets the best of him, and even simple questions that he should know the answer about monsters he has defeated he is drawing blanks on. Velma is well educated in this realm, able to answer almost any question, regardless if she has battled such a creature before. It doesn't matter if most of her conflicts are against people in costumes and behind masks, she still knows the information she needs to.
"That's a point for team number 2!" the alien announces.
A giant scoreboard appears above their heads. Team 1 and Team 2 are written on top. Under team number 1 the score is still zero but they watch as team number 2 score flips from a zero to a one.
"Sorry, guys," Dipper apologizes with his head down to his team.
"It's alright bro bro," Mabel says lightly punching his shoulder.
"Mabel's right, whoever's next will win for sure," Wendy says, hoping she is right.
"Yeah, it's alright, dude, we all mess up from time to time," Soos tells him, knowing he messes up more than most people.
There is a slight pause as everyone glances at Pacifica expecting her to encourage Dipper.
"Oh, umm," Pacifica glances up from her nails, "yeah, we'll get 'em next time, go team?" her voice is unsure but they suppose she is trying.
Meanwhile, the Mystery solving team high-fives Velma and cheers her for success.
"We got this!" They all say.
"Let's keep up this streak!"
