"Pretty boy," the alien says, gesturing to Fred with their finger that it's his turn, "and you, ice," the alien says, turning to Wendy.
Wendy shudders at the nickname reminiscent of Weirdmageddon where, in Bill Cipher's zodiac wheel, she was represented by a bag of ice. The rest of the Gravity Falls team doesn't want to hear theirs, Bill's voice still stuck in their heads.
'Pinetree'
'Shooting Star'
'Question Mark'
'Llama'
They focus back up when the alien begins to explain Wendy and Fred's challenge.
"Both of you have past expertise in traps, I think everyone here would agree," the alien says, "so your challenge is called Capture the Prey, the rules are simple, each of you is allowed to use the materials in front of you," snapping their fingers, a variety of supplies appears before the contestants, "and whichever one traps this creature first gets the point for their team."
Wendy and Fred immediately got to work. The gears in Fred's head start turning as he sees billions of different traps he could make with the equipment in front of him. Wendy doesn't make it that complicated. She picks up a few things that she is fairly familiar and comfortable with. Fred grabs everything within his line of sight.
Wendy begins to construct a simple rope trap, one that she has built with her family on multiple occasions while camping. Her tongue sticks out of her mouth slightly as she bites it in concentration.
Fred is still tinkering away, going back and forth on what kind of trap he wants to do. It was going to be elaborate with a levy there and it was important that everything went according to his plan. His 'master plan' was interrupted when the creature fell for Wendy's trap. He is supposed to be the trap guy, no, the trap man, and now he lost the competition.
The Gravity Falls team cheers as the score becomes tied up at 1-1.
"Great job Wendy!" the team shouts besides for Pacifica who is caught off guard as the team stares at her again.
"Oh… Umm… I guess that was pretty cool, way to get us right back in it," Pacifica tries, which seems to satisfy her team for the moment.
"It was nothing guys," Wendy insists, "just the way I was raised," she shrugs.
Wendy tries to stay calm and collected, she shivers a bit as that is why she had been 'ice' in the first. Stanford's words sometimes ring in her mind, 'The symbols needn't all be literal. It just has to be someone cool in the face of danger.'
Her friends chanted her name and just like always she shrugged it off like it was no big deal. Everything in the Corduroy's girl life has been swept under the rug, not as important as everyone would make an event out to be.
"It's alright Freddy," Daphne promises.
"I just can't believe I lost!" Fred huffs and crosses his arm, "It was probably rigged anyway."
"Fred, I really don't think-" Velma starts but decides against her statement. At least she had won her challenge.
