• The Legend Of Gloomy Gulch •
Prologue:
From that place which is stated to be haunted by evil spirits, a carefree Kong of his kind, who is one of the descendants from the original Kong settlers, this dreaded Gulch has long been known by the name of Gloomy Gulch... A ghostly, insubstantial influence seems to hang over the area, and gives erie to that very atmosphere.

Inside DK's Treehouse located in Jungle Hijinxs, both Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are preparing to leave for a harvest party at Wonky Waterway Temple, a party that takes place every year on November 21st, in celebration of the Kongs first settlement on DK Island.
"Can't wait for this year's harvest party. I'm very excited, how about you DK?", said Diddy Kong.
"Same here, I'm excited too. Though I do hope theres more bananas than last year", said Donkey Kong.
"Oh really? I'm pretty sure there was a lot of bananas to eat at last year's harvest", remarked Diddy.
"Why you say that?", replied Donkey Kong.
"Your a big glutton when it comes to eating bananas you know", said Diddy.
"Oh", replied Donkey Kong.
Both Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong hop on top of Rambi, their rhinoceros ride, and headed to Wonkey Waterway Temple. On they're way there they came across the entrances to Gloomy Gulch. A big Gulch that is located between the Jungle and Ancient Ruins, where Wonky Waterway Temple is located. Right away both DK and Diddy made sure that Rambi rode around the Gulch instead of going through the Gulch to get to their location.
Though this might be strange to some non- residence of DK Island, since it's easier and faster to go through Gloomy Gulch and get to the Temple, or any place in general, rather than going around it. If you ask a residence of DK Island about the purpose of going around the Gulch rather than through it, they'll most likely response by saying that evil spirits haunt Gloomy Gulch. They say that the evil spirits in Gloomy Gulch torment anyone who dares walk through it. There have been many stories of DK Island residents entering that Gulch and coming out of there, terrified on they claimed to have seen. Because of that, DK Island Residents don't dare to ever set foot on Gloomy Gulch.
DK and his fellow Kongs don't know why that Gloomy Gulch is filled with such evil spirits or how long they have been inhabiting the Gulch. It always been a mystery to him and his fellow Kongs.
After few minutes of walking, DK, Diddy, and Rambi have finally reach the Wonky Waterway Temple. There the Kongs played music, games and contests, and towards the end have a big feast at the big table. While eating Donkey Kong turn to Cranky Kong, who was sitting next to him and ask...
"Hey Cranky I got something to ask you", said DK.
"What is it DK my boy", replied Cranky while chewing on a meat.
"I always wonder why is Gloomy Gulch haunted by evil spirits and long have they been inhabiting that area ?", said Donkey Kong.
DK's conservation with Cranky caught the attention of every Kong sitting around the table, which Cranky noticed.
"Why do you ask ?", said Cranky.
"Because it's always a big mystery to me, and probably to other fellow Kongs, and I and many Kongs will like to know the answer", said DK.
"Well, if you and by the looks of it, every one of you wants to know why Gloomy Gulch is infested by evil spirits I'll tell y'all," said Cranky.
"Long ago Gloomy Gulch was just an ordinary forest filled Glen, but it became a battlefield between the Kong Settlers of the Ancient Ruins, and an invading group of Kremling Pirates led by Captain Kackle. Captain Kackle is a notorious Kremling Pirate Captain who is stated to be the wizard of the Kremling Tribe. He came to DK Island to steal the Kong Settlers' Treasure and overall annihilate the entire Kong Clan. The Kong Settlers manage to fight back against the invading Kremling Pirates. And like I said earlier, the battle took place in the Glen which would later become Gloomy Gulch, the battle between the Kongs and Kremlings was intense. Towards the end of the battle Captain Kackle was split into two, and his whole pirate crew were wiped out completely. The battle turn the forest filled Glen into a dark spooky wood filled Gulch. They say Captain Kackle curse the area before he took his last breath. Since then, the restless spirits of Captain Kackle and his pirate crew who were annihilated on that battlefield continued to haunt that area. They say that Captain Kackle became a legless skeleton ghost who hovers in the air to move, and is the most infamous Kremling spectre, and the commander of all the ghosts in Gloomy Gulch, similar to how he was an infamous pirate captain of his pirate crew when he was alive. The Kong Settlers became aware of the evil spirits of Kackle and his crew in Gloomy Gulch. Since then, every inhabitants then later on tourists who became aware of the history of Gloomy Gulch avoid going through the Gulch."
After Cranky finish the story, all the Kongs around the table are deeply spooked by the backstory of Gloomy Gulch. Moments later the Kongs resume to their feast, after that they started heading home.
"Hey Diddy ready to go ?", said DK who's already on top of Rambi preparing to leave.
"Oh sorry DK, I'll be going with Trixie, to her house and hang out with her for a bit", said Diddy.
"I'll be home soon though."
"It's fine," said DK.
"Besides you guys haven't been hanging out for a while, so have fun I'll be on my way. Later Diddy", said DK.
"Thanks DK, and see you at home soon," replied Diddy.
Donkey Kong rode off with Rambi and left the Ancient Ruins entirely.
On the way back DK wouldn't stop thinking about the backstory of Gloomy Gulch and how terrifying that the area is haunted by the ghosts of a Kremling Pirate Captain and his pirate crew.
DK couldn't stop thinking about it to the point that he's unaware that he is entering the entrance to Gloomy Gulch.
DK and Rambi continued walking through the Gulch until DK hears a crackling sound coming from behind. He turns around and notices a white figure from a distance heading straight towards DK.
As DK watch closely he starts seeing the figure clearly as it gets closer and closer.
It turns out the white figure that is heading towards DK is a skeletal Kremling wearing an eyepatch and a bandanna, it has a saber hanging on the left side of it's hip, and carrying what it appears to be a cannon ball on it's right hand, and most of all it was hovering in the air.
As DK sees the figure clearly, he finally notices the area he's in. Seeing the skeletal Kremling figure and the darken woods he's in, DK realizes he accidentally enter Gloomy Gulch, and the skeletal Kremling that's coming towards him has to be none other than the ghost of Captain Kackle.
Immediately DK flees as far and fast as he can, then the Skeletal Kremling give chase, DK turns around and sees the spectre getting closer and closer.
The spectre then draws out it's saber and waves it in the air, and then let's a loud horrifying laugh that echoes throughout the area.
DK never been this scared nor seen something so terrifying in his life. DK desperately wanted to leave Gloomy Gulch and quickly escape from Captain Kackle's ghost.
"COME ON RAMBI USE ALL YOUR FULL STRENGTH TO RUN FAST ! WE GOT TO GET OUT OF THIS AWFUL PLACE !", yelled a terrified DK.
Rambi did what DK says and ran faster than before.
DK then notices the exist up a head.
"HURRY RAMBI THE EXIST IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US ! WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T STOP NOW !", yelled DK.
DK looks back and notices that Kackle's spectre is starting to drip blood from all over it's skeletal body and showing an angry expression on his skeletal face.
Right when DK and Rambi just exit Gloomy Gulch, the spectre threw the cannon that he was carrying on his right hand and--
BOOM !

The next morning no one has seen DK nor his ride Rambi after the harvest party. When they look around the island the only relic they found from him is his red DK tie, found near Gloomy Gulch on a dark charred ground.
Since then the inhabitants of DK Island have started rumors that DK was spirited away by the evil spirits of Gloomy Gulch, others say he fled DK island in horror and never returned.
Whatever the reason, he was never seen again.
