It took hours to tell the complete. Most of the telling went to Ba Reum, but Yo Han filled in some blanks as well. Both Moo Chi and Hong Ju were a great audience, listening carefully to their history.
How they were switched by their mother's when Yo Han had just been born, how Yo Han had discovered he had been followed when he was a child, but always been told that it was all in his head.
They told them about the pact their mothers had made to kill them if they showed signs of being a psychopath. Hong Ju gasped, and tightly grasped Yo Han's hand in hers.
They kept on telling about how Ba Reum had been abused and that he had ran away from home and got in an accident, losing his memories.
Ba Reum told them that he did investigations on his own.
"The letter with the clues, it was you? Damn, I was sure it was detective Sang." Moo Chi muttered.
Ba Reum told him that he tried to find out the culprit himself, and that he had seen the guy from his past and that the memories suddenly had rushed in again. They told them about how they had investigated the murders further and discovered this organisation covering for the killers.
"They are the same people that kidnapped your brother, an organisation called OZ, dedicated to following children who were born with the psychopath gene and to prove to the world that they all should never have been allowed to be born."
They told about all the intel they collected, the phone conversations, the movie material of secret meetings, files and documents. They had all the information they needed, to not only expose the murderer, but the whole organisation covering them.
"So, you are the head hunters son." Moo Chi said, of course, not forgetting that detail, "and those people discovered you have the psychopath gene, just like your father."
Ba Reum swallowed, he looked at the older detective, wondering if this would be a deal breaker for him.
"I am, I didn't know until a few days ago, but I am." He said, hoping that this wouldn't prove to be a mistake. Moo Chi leaned back in his chair a bit, his eyes wide and wild, obviously torn.
"Perhaps it's best not to focus on this. After all, it's not that Ba Reum is his father? Nor does he resemble the man." Yo Han said decisively. If there was anyone that knew how it felt to have a parent weighing down on your own live, it's Yo Han.
"And if you can't get over it, please take your brother and go. We will finish this on our own." Moo Chi stared at Yo Han, who just looked back at him, straight in the eyes, without any guilt but with a bit of anger. Moo Chi seemed to consider him a bit longer, then licked his lips.
"No, I'm fine." He finally said, realising that he couldn't dislike the Ba Reum he learned to know solely because of whom his father was. It was a big step for him, a revelation in his mind. He could not hate solely based on that connection.
"Good, now, since we have been spying on this OZ organisation, we have been able to get enough evidence to get them convicted." Yo Han said, Ba Reum opened the laptop and showed the films they had been able to get from Choi Young Shin's house. Hong Ju and Moo Chi gasped when they recognized her.
"but that's…." she said, pointing at the screen, "she is the leader?"
"Yes. And we got a whole bunch of files and movies. We think it best to try to get the information on as much platforms as possible, as widespread as possible." Ba Reum said, already having thought about it. They would need to spread the new quickly for it to have any effect.
"We were thinking of actually using your broadcasting station." Ba Reum was saying, but Hong Ju's phone started to ring. She answered it and moved out of the room. They waited for her, because she was crucial for the next part of the plan.
A minute later she rushed back in.
"Guys, turn on the television."
They turned on the TV and immediately saw a news broadcast.
"It is believed that detective Ko was so angry at his brother for forgiving the Head Hunter, after he had killed their parents, that he kidnapped him. We don't know their location or if father Ko is still alive.
We have received this movie."
They showed the movie that the kidnappers had originally send to Moo Chi.
"What?" Moo Chi exclaimed.
"They believe that you kidnapped your brother. You are wanted by the police." Hong Ju explained, sharing the information she had gotten from her broadcasting station.
"And that's not all." She said, looking at Ba Reum with a trepidation, but before she could say anything, the next news item started.
"And another newsflash, the third victim of the womb stealer has succumbed to her injuries. She went in toxic shock a few hours earlier and didn't make it out alive." The newscaster droned on, but all the attention was on Ba Reum, who seemed surprisingly calm.
"I'm sorry Ba Reum." Moo Chi said awkwardly.
"You don't have to be, she is not dead." Ba Reum said.
"What, but," Moo Chi sputtered at this unexpected news.
"Yes, everyone believes she died, even the people at the hospital will think she passed away." Ba Reum said, looking at Yo Han.
"We found ourselves a stand-in." Yo Han looked away. This was a part of the plan he had been very uncomfortable about. Borrowing a brain dead patient, who's family had decided to let her go in peace, and afterward changing her identity.
"I hadn't let her die yet." Yo Han said, looking Ba Reum in the eyes.
"What?" Ba Reum asked in confusion.
"I was going to let her die from an overdose painkillers, but that would have taken at least another 12 hours before it would have taken full effect. Anyway, it would never have been described as toxic shock."
Ba Reum swallowed once.
"See, I told you that it was necessary." Ba Reum said eventually and Yo Han agreed. He had protested very hard against this part of the plan, stating that he could loose his medical license over this, but Ba Reum had been adamant about this part of the plan.
"So, where is your mother then? Is she awake?" Moo Chi asked, looking at the two men. Ba Reum shook his head;
"We moved her to safe place, and we have a lawyer who is also in the loop, so that it won't be hard to make her come back to life." Ba Reum explained, "like Yo Han said, Oz would have killed her otherwise."
"Ah, well, good thinking I guess." Moo Chi said. Perhaps he was underestimating Ba Reum, or he was underestimating at what lengths this OZ would go to.
"So, what is the plan?" Hong Ju asked, getting everyone back on track, "You said you wanted to use my broadcasting station. Do you want me to make a special episode about it and sneak in all the evidence?" she asked, but Ba Reum was already shaking his head.
"No, that wouldn't reach the amount of audience we want to. I was more of thinking to get several different clips to be aired on all three national broadcasting stations. I have already been working on having several shorter pieces with crucial evidence ready."
"And how do you want to spread it."
"I want to make it so that it appears in every commercial block of every show. I also have a sequence written for internet, that will start showing those clips on several sites in add spaces. The moment we have released those clips in all three broadcasting stations on the commercial blocks, we will have several of the full meetings and phone calls posted on every video website, Youtube, Naver and even on pornsites. Everywhere were one can upload video's, especially where the content isn't checked. That way it will reach about everyone."
"That is quite a wide scale. And will we be safe?" Hong Ju asked.
"As safe as I can possibly make it. I'm 99% sure they will not find us because of the internet movies. Now the commercials, we need to manually install them."
"But you need access to the tapes then?" Hong Ju said, "with the current news about detective Ko and your mother, you'll never get in there without being recognised. There will be too many journalists and reporters running along."
"Not unless we have a distraction." Ba Reum said, looking her in the eye with an intense look. She felt her hairs rise, even though she had no idea why.
"What distraction."
"You could tell the world about who you are." Ba Reum said, leaning forward and slightly touching her bracelet.
Her breath stopped in her throat, her heart started to pound. She could hear the blood that rushed toward her ears when he said that.
"No, I can't." she whispered at the same time the other two man asked what he meant with those words.
"Your father is detective Park. You were his daughter that was kidnapped by the head hunter." Ba Reum stated, still holding his gaze on her, unflinching. She lowered her eyes.
"What?!" Both Yo Han and Moo Chi were surprised by this news. Hong Ju couldn't lift her eyes to meet their stares. The shame was too much.
"Is this true?" Yo Han asked, kneeling in front of Hong Ju and taking her hand in his and rubbing his thumb over her fingers, "it's okay, please, let me in."
She starts to sob and nods her head.
"I couldn't go back, not after what happened there." She sobbed hard. Yo Han held her close, glaring at Ba Reum for bringing the news so bluntly. Ba Reum just shrugged, not feeling any remorse at all.
"It's okay." He said, "it's all going to be okay. You don't have to tell anyone."
"Perhaps she does." Moo Chi said, Yo Han glared at him as well and Hong Ju lifted her head with a look of betrayal on her face.
"I'm just saying, we need the distraction. And detective Park is mourning for you all this time." Moo Chi said. He had been to young to have known the detective from before his children were kidnapped, but the chief had told chilling stories and even now the man was just a shade, just going through the motions. His wife had barely held on her sanity after the loss of both her children.
"And the girl they found buried instead of you could give someone closure." Ba Reum finished. Hong Ju swallowed her tears, shaky. She stayed in Yo Han's arms, and looked him in the eye, a question not leaving her lips.
"I don't care who you are or what you decide." He said, "Like you didn't care who I was."
Hong Ju thought about it, and then she came to a decision.
"I, I guess I'll have to. I don't want to do it alone." She said, her voice still shaking.
"And you won't have to." Yo Han said warmly.
