Hi! Sorry I was out for a bit, my computer had some technicalities that needed to be worked out. I'm back now and I hope y'all enjoy!(Yes, I am a bit southern.)
"I don't know if I can walk any faster!" Roxi complained.
Jace snapped, "then run for all I care!"
After a while Roxi asked, "What was that whole deal with Isabelle? Is she your sister or something?"
"How'd you guess?" His voice dripped with sarcasm. He looked nothing like Isabelle or Alec. "They're my adoptive family of sorts. My parents died when I was little, and I have no grandparents…"
"Oh." She said, "sorry. I didn't mean to pry."
After a while Roxi announced, "we're here. This is the auditorium." The auditorium didn't seem that big, but it was probably bigger on the inside. Jace put on a slight glamour, making himself look like an administrator of sorts.
He sucked in a deep breath and opened the door.
"Hi, I don't mean to disturb class, but can I borrow a.." Jace glanced down at the clipboard he had given himself. "..Layla Carstairs? Just for a little bit," he pinched his fingers an inch apart.
"Well sure, Layla." The teacher called her. Then he continued in a hushed voice. "You're a wonderful student, I'm sure I'm sure it's nothing but a little problem."
"Thank you, have a wonderful day!" Roxi was at the door and once they were safely outside hearing range, Jace explained everything.
"So you're telling me that there are werewolves and vampires and witches,"
"Warlocks," Jace corrected.
"Whatever, and you are a protector of this world, and I am too?"
"Yup, that's it. Roxi and Soni and Clary are too."
"Awesome!" At his glance she seemed a bit startled. "Not awesome? Why?"
"Roxi knows, but you cannot tell anyone else—unless I tell you that it's okay—or the Clave will hunt you down. That's why." Jace thought He scared her, but for good measure. The Clave means business.
"And you're also telling me that I basically am a superhero?" Now she was getting it.
"Yup." Jace traced a tracking rune on the back of his hand and thought of his parabatai. He saw that Alec and Isabelle had successfully gotten Clary back to the Institute, and he was watching over her for Jace's sake.
"Roxi," he said, turning to her, "get Soni and tell her. And make sure everyone gives her some space after."
Sorry if the first few sentences are a bit weird. My formatting wasn't working. I write my stories on Google docs, then I edit and upload them and sometimes it gets messed up. Also, I'm going to be starting on a new story, but this time, I'm going to meet my heroes. See if you can guess what it's about! Anybody notice the little Simon reference? Hope you like it anyway, and don't forget to review!
