Chapter 3
The night finally came when they arrived at the Hashira's abode. They were met with everyone who were waiting for their return.
"I'm glad you've returned safe and sound. I hope the mission wasn't that difficult." Shinobu said to them.
"It was a little difficult but we made it all in one piece." Tanjiro said.
Shinobu looked up at Kyojuro, her smile gone.
"Rengoku, you look a little different. Did something happen?" Shinobu asked.
"Yes. I must speak with the Master." Kyojuro said.
The Hashiras parted ways as the Master, Kagaya Ubuyashiki walked up to Kyojuro.
"I sensed something has changed within you. Could you tell me what has happened?" Kagaya said.
"Yes. I was turned into a demon during the mission." Kyojuro said.
All the other Hashiras looked at him with shocked faces.
"Turned into a demon! That's impossible!" Tengen cried out.
"Master, this has never happened before! Shouldn't we do something about it!" Sanemi said.
Kagaya turned towards the voices of Tengen and Sanemi. "Please my children, we shall discuss this inside."
He turned to face Kyojuro again. "Forgive me Kyojuro but this meeting is not one for you to hear."
Kyojuro bowed his head. "I understand."
Hours later...
"Master, we've never had one of our own turned into a demon before!" Tengen said. "What if he attacks us!"
"Even if he attacks us, we would have no choice but to kill him." Shinobu said.
"What!? We wouldn't kill our own, would we?" Mitsuri said.
"By the way Rengoku told us of his story, it sounded like he became a demon during the battle." Muichiro said.
"Still, a demon is a demon. They're all the same." Giyu said.
"Not quite Giyu. Tanjiro's younger sister Nezuko is a demon who will never hurt a human." Kagaya said.
"So you're saying that Rengoku would be the same way." Shinobu said.
"Yes. We will test him just like we did with Nezuko. Sanemi, I will put you in charge of that." Kagaya said.
Sanemi bowed down and replied "Yes, Master."
