In the spirit world the last remaining Z warriors are resting with the gods but Goku's role as protector will never end, Goku or Vegeta no longer existed.
As the the new God of war. Vegitto had only one soul, his duel voice became one, wiped away from every memory he once had on Earth.
No longer having a will of his own but he's still a peaceful God by nature.
But for both families who do remember them as separate individuals were disheartened by that.
They were ordered not to speak about Earth Incase Goku who's clearly dominant in Vegitto will create the desire to be separated once he learns the truth.
The God of War must remain like this forever to ensure this universe survival.
Gohan is happy that he's at least respected by the God of war and that he gets to see him appear in the God realm waiting for another task.
Maybe one day they'll grow close.. and without breaking any rules Vegitto will find out himself about the previous life he once had.
Gohan wished he could act like himself around Vegitto,spend time with him, or at least have a part of his Father remember him.

As Gohan thought about his life on Earth a shadow blocked the sun light shining over him.

"I might leave for a long time.. " Vegitto said.

"Another mission is planned in the multi universe" Vegitto answered.
But before I go I'm heading to Beerus planet for a spar" Vegitto said.
"Care to join me?"
"Sure Da.. uh" Gohan then stuttered, remembering he's not allowed to say anything.
"Gohan, It's okay" Vegitto said and Gohan noticed kindness in his strict features, like a brief sign acknowledgement.
Gohan just leaned forward almost catching Vegitto off guard when he hugged his father. Vegitto didn't pull back.
Vegitto always felt a strong connection with Gohan ever since they crossed paths.
Gohan hid his face as they broke apart tears were slightly shimmering,
"Sorry.. Im ready to go now" Gohan said.
As long as Gohan is with his father he knows it's always going to be all right.
