DON'T MAKE A BET YOU CANT KEEP
Casey (fiddles with her keys,
Derek: (hears this and and opens the door. He looks between Annie and Casey.) So ( he says with a smirk) what are you doing for summer break? ( he holds a finger up and stops her from answering and pretends to think before answering.) Summer classes, summer activities, online journal, internship stuff, going to the library, blah, blah, blah...boring!
Annie whips her head towards Casey but she doesn't make eye contact. She purses her lips together and crosses her arms.
Derek: I'm I right or am I right.( he smirks up at Annie.)
Annie: that's right! ( she says happily) except,we don't need to go to the library because we already got our books.
Casey: (Casey gives Annie a stern look)Annie!
Annie: oh right, sorry.
Derek: (laughs) wow! You are so predictable, only you would ruin your summer break by being a keener.
Casey: well unlike some of us, we care about grades and our future! Besides, in college it's not a bad thing to be a keener!
Derek: While that might be true ( he leans against the door frame) you need a little distraction every once and a while, princess ( he says in a low sultry tone.)
Casey: look! I'm not going to spend all summer doing work. I'm going to have some fun too.
Derek: what, let me guess... Your going to reorganize your clothes drawer. Hmmm and next rearrange your furniture and writing online stories and poetry.
Annie: actually, we were going to go to the beach with the girls and then we were going to a party. It's great actually, Emily has the whole thing planned...Casey even got our friends from school to come.
Derek: A work free couple of week with your friends, really? Without being tempted by other boring shit!
Casey: ( rolls her eyes) Der-ek! Was that necessary, You know I hate it when you swear.
Derek: ( rolls his eyes) I don't care what you hate, princess. You know what I hate? Every time you tell me not to swear like your my mother or something, F.Y.I case...there are not kids here!
Casey: so, it doesn't mean I wanna here it.
Derek: well then cover your ears because I'm gonna keep saying it.
Casey: ugh! ( she rolls her eyes)
Derek: whatever. Back to our previous conversation of you saying that you can go weeks without doing any work.
Casey: I can!
Derek: ( burst out laughing) I see you have been working on your sense of humor, good one,case.
Casey: I'm serious
Derek: care to make it interesting? ( he raises his eyebrows.)
Casey: I'm not making anymore bets with you, how stupid do you think I am! You know what, don't answer that. ( she opens her door and is about to walk in.)
Derek: why? Are you afraid you might lose? Again...to me. I mean it has been pretty on sided, with me winning all of the time and you owing me something in return. Aren't you tired of losing princess...or maybe your too afraid to even try. Its probably better this way, after a while evenwrong?ers gets tired of losing and failure. ( he smiles smugly)
Casey (turns back around): I didn't fail, you always cheat!
Derek: whatever makes you feel better. Besides, you have no self control. You always have to schedule something, study, take notes or something not fun...you can't just let loose, you always have to have control.
Casey: ( she crosses her arms) yeah, imagine doing homework and studying in college. How dare I do exactly what I'm supposed to do in college.
Derek: that's not what I meant and you know it. Your entire day is planned out down to the last detail and you never have any time to relax and have fun.
Casey: I can let loose and have fun ( she crosses her arms) and I can go as long as I want without doing work if I wanted to.
Derek: ( burst out laughing) who are you trying to fool here?! Are you forgetting that I lived in a house with you! I know for a fact ( he emphasizes on fact) you have wouldn't last a day.
Casey: well, your wrong!
Derek: well then prove, I bet you will break in a day. Lerner's just can't help themselves.
Casey: ( gets closer and raises an eyebrow) what are the stakes?
Derek:( mouth raises up to a smirk) loser buys goodies and cleans the other apartment for a year .
Casey: I like the groceries part but the apartment cleaning only benefits you, my apartment is always spotless...and no offense but I don't want you cleaning my apartment.
Derek: well, I Wont have to because I'm gonna win and your going to be cleaning my place.
Casey: groceries for a year and you can't make fun of me or my friends.
Derek: no deal!
Casey: (scoffs) that was a reasonable deal.
Derek: not for me!
Casey: then what do you propose?
Derek: loser pays for groceries and gas for a year.
Casey: fine! That can be your stipulation for me but if I'm putting something on the line then you are too!
Derek: that...wasn't... The deal.
Casey: well then no deal ( she about to turn away but Derek stops her.)
Derek: fine! ( he sighs) what are the stakes for me?
Casey: you can't make fun of me or my friends and groceries and gas.
Derek: you mean make fun of your keener posse
Casey: Der-ek! I told you not to call us that.
Derek: well, that's what you guys are and your only able to demand two things, not three!
Casey: I want three!
Derek: no deal then!
Casey: why? Because you know I'm gonna beat you.
Derek: you could never beat me at anything, princess. You on the other hand, will break so fast your head will spend.
Casey: ( sticks out her hand) so its a deal then ( she smiles mischievously)
Derek: he smiles mischievous) deal but if you break in a day then you have to clean my apartment in a maids outfit and wait on me hand and foot.
Casey: I would be an idiot to take that deal! But...if you lose, you have to do the same thing for me. I can just picture it now, you in a maids outfit as you wait on me. I'm gonna post the picture all over Instagram and Twitter.
Derek: ( stares at her impressed, he looks down at the ground, rubs the back of his ear, he mumbles something to him self before making eye contact with Casey. He giggles nervously) not gonna happen but when you lose people aren't going to be surprised when they see you on my social media page in a maids outfit because you lost a bet to me.
Casey: you wish!
Derek: I don't have to wish and you know why? Because I always get what I want ( he gets closer to her.) And you know what I want...I...want...you...to lose and have to do whatever I say.
Casey: well, you better star getting use to not getting what you want, because when I put my mind to something...I get things done!
Derek:( Derek stares at her impressed, he sticks his his tongue at the corner of his mouth and smiles.) When it comes to college and your other keener stuff the your right, you get things done. But when it comes to bets, I'm king.
Casey: oh cut the bull Der, I've beaten you before.
Derek: ( giggles) once! Your proud of that, one win over thousands and thousands of times that i've beaten you.
Casey: well, with this bet... I can make this number 2.
Derek: not after this, you can add it to your long list of failures.
Casey: I don't fail!
Derek: OK. ( laughs and walks back in apartment)
Casey (goes back in her apartment and Annie follows.) Sorry about that
Annie: its okay I'm use to it, I watched my parents fight all of the time.
Casey: what!
Annie: I'm just saying
Casey: ( rolls her eyes) whatever.
Annie: sorry. So, now that you can't do any work until your classes start, what do you wanna do?
Casey: I don't know.
Annie: I know! We can watch tv, there's this show that I can't get enough of ( she says happily)
Casey: ok, what is it called?
Annie: leverage! I love that show so much!
Casey: I never heard of it, maybe we can binge that.
Annie: great! ( she says happilyCaseyock, knock
Emily: were here!
Casey jumps up and scrambles for the door, she opens it and greets everybody.
Kendra: sorry if I don't join in on the love fest, I really have to pee. Where's your bathroom.
Casey Points to the bathroom.
Sally: Hey case. ( she smiles)
Casey: hey sals.
Sally: its been a minute since we last spoke.
Casey: I know. I've been busy doing work.
Sally: well, I'm just happy to see you.
Casey: me too.
Annie: hey, why don't you tell them...maybe they can help.
Emily: help with what?
Annie: casey made a bet with Derek.
Emily: ( sighs) cast, you didn't.
Annie: she did.
Emily: Casey, why do you continue to let him suck you into bets?
Casey: this one I know I can win!
Emily: you said that last time and then next thing you know, your on the phone telling me what a jerk Derek is and how he cheated.
Casey: he did!
Emily: but yet you keep playing with him. You let him bait you every time and its always the same result.
Kendra: you need to go to an AA meeting hun.
Emily: what can we do to help.
Sally: and after this, no more betting your steps brother.
Kendra: hun, your talking to a wall. All you can do is try to contain it so it doesn't get any worse.
Sally: well, how can we help?
Casey: I can't say, I can't make plans, schedule anything, do any work or the stuff I usually do. Just u till my summer classes start.
Kendra: sounds manageable enough.
Emily: yeah. Well hide your books, we will make the plans and distract you from work, chores, your daily activities.
Casey: good! Where do I start.
Kendra: A perfect distraction would be a party.
Casey: ok.
They spend half of the day binging leverage but they don't finish it because when the clock strikes 8 o'clock, they get ready for the party. Once everyone is ready, they all get in the car and drive to the party.
When they arrive they all get a drink and start dancing together, A guys walks up to Emily and she starts dancing with him. Another guy comes up and he ask Kendra to dance and she does. A guy ask sally to dance and she shakes her head no and tells him that she has a boyfriend.
Sally: speaking of, I better go call him. ( she goes upstairs and into the a room where to can talk to him and Casey is just standing there a lone.)
Casey takes a couple of sips from her beer and grimaced. After a while a guy walks up to her and ask her to dance, Casey shakes her head and they dance. They dance to a couple of songs before sitting down.
Josie: ( walks up to casey) I didn't know you were going to be here, my sister dragged me along. I like parties...but everyday ( she grimaces) not a fan.
Casey: me either. I just came here because...I made abet with my brother.
Josie: again. I thought you swore off betting with him?
Casey: I did I must...I don't know.
Josie: his got a serious hold over you.
Casey: doesn't not!
Josie: sure he doesn't ( she winks)
Casey: your drunk!
Josie: I've only had a couple of sips, your blind!
Casey: ( scoffs)
Josie: come join us, were hanging out in the corner over here.
Casey gets up and follows Josie.
Casey (looks back and sees that they are far away from the guy); thanks for that.
Josie: I could see it all over your face that you didn't want to talk to him, some people just can't take a hint.
Casey: so, did your sister really drag you here?
Josie: yeah. She said " put down the book, were going to a party. I'm so sick of you always working instead of having fun. Come on! Lets go!" ( she says mocking her sister.)
Casey (giggles) that does sound like Lizzie.
Josie: remember when we met and you were like " I have a sister named Lizzie" and she was all " great! " I didn't ask" and now she loves lizzie and now she's all " only great people are named puzzle"
Casey: ( laughs) I know! So what are you really doing here.
Josie: ( blushes and bites her lip) Hope is here
Casey: woooooo ( she laughs) and did you tell her yet?
Josie: no! Have you told Derek or sally?
Casey: I don't know what your talking about?
Josie: right! Keep the river of denial flowing ( Josie sees Casey is about to freak out, one of many freak outs and melt downs she has witnessed from Casey. She did not like seeing her friend like that, she figured calling her friend out...no matter how true it was, was a bad idea.
The last time that she saw Casey freak out like this was when her group left her for being so bossy. Which Josie believed was so wrong because there was a lot of work to do. Casey didn't come out of her room for two weeks, during that she didn't talk to anyone. She was like a robot in the middle of a task, you couldn't stop her for nothing.
Then boom! Just like that, the teacher decided to push up the projects in order to get all of the lectures done. That's when she saw it, Casey breathing in and out, pacing back and forth and then she said she couldn't breathe. Josie had been there before and decided it was best that Casey just joined there group. After several hours later, Casey finally said yes and all she had to do was fact check and incorporate her work into the project. she smiles) I'm just messing with you.
Casey: ( rolls her eyes and laughs) where's the others?
Josie: around somewhere, I got bored and came to find you.
Casey: my friends are off dancing.
Josie: that gets boring after a while.
Casey: that's what I said.
Lizzie (is about to pass by when she sees Josie and Casey) there you are, your supposed to be having fun.
Josie: I am having fun, I'm talking to my friend.
Lizzie: you guys need to learn to let loose, enjoy the party. Like me!
Josie: well, you have your way and I have mine ( she smiles)
Lizzie: well, you way is boring ( her words slur)
Josie: how many of those have you had?
Lizzie: doesn't matter! I'm having fun!
Hope: (walks up to them) I told you that you needed to leave your sister alone.
Lizzie: fine. Have it your way. ( she walks away and starts dancing with a guy.)
Casey: well, I better go find my friends to make sure they don't leave me.
Josie: ok. ( she smiles at her and Casey smiles back knowingly)
Casey sees April talking to a guy, pretending to be interested. This isnt the same situation that she was in though, she knows that April has to put on a show, so she can pretend that she not lesbian...no one told, its so blantly obvious the way she looks at sterling and they way she looks at sees Amber and Olivia on the dance floor grinding on each other. She sees Sterling and her sister Blair dancing side by side. She turns around and sees casey Gardner and Izzie playing beer pong while a group of people cheer for them. Casey tries to survey the situation between Hope and Josie but its not going as expected because Penelope is now with them as well. She tries but fails to read their lips.
Casey just leans against the wall with her beer. She takes a sip and grimaced again. Eww why was she drinking this? She thought to her self. After a few more beers she had gotten use to the taste, whatever she needed to do to distract herself from going on and doing work... Was thinking about it considered cheating? No look I
Zoey (walks Casey:th Mo and Max and the people in the living room are singing and doing the dance from LMAFO party Rock Anthem. In the kitchen Casey G and issue are doing shots while the group is singing the shots song by LMAFO ft Lil John.) Oh yeah this is the place.
Amy walks pass Zoey and sings " the party don't stop to I walk in" which is tik tok by Kesha as she she starts dancing with the rest of the people in the living room.
Zoey: whoa! This is a lot at once
Max: who are you gonna help first.
Mo: anyone calling out to you specifically.
Zoey: everything is so jumbled up, I don't know
That's when she hears a girl ( who is casey but she doesn't know that singing. She looks to her right and she's a girl leaning against the wall with a solo cup in hand.)
Casey: I guess for now you've got the last laugh
I'm sorry if I seem uninterested
Or I'm not listening, or I'm indifferent
Truly I ain't got no business here
But since my friends are here
I just came to kick it
But really I would rather be at home all by myself
Not in this room with people who don't even care about my well being
I don't dance, don't ask
I don't need a boyfriend
So you can go back, please enjoy your party
