Chapter 4
Girls night
The girls needed time to whine down from the party last night, so instead of going to the beach...we were going yo stay in, eat pizza, drink soda and watch chick flicks...I mean I know those words are so demeaning to woman but that's what their called. I searched for movies at the store, I had to go to three different stores to find really great movies. I was really bias when it came to the movies, obviously someone should of came with me because, I got a lot of dancing movies. That was just my subconscious slipping in, I want trying to get a majority if dancing movies it just sort of happened.
I ended up getting SAVE THE LAST DANCE, THE CUTTING EDGE, LAWS OF ATTRACTION, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, CENTER STAGE, FOOTLOOSE, CHICAGO, BLACKNSWAN and LOVE ACTUALLY. I made my way down the aisle in search of popcorn and theater candy... We seriously needed to work out tomorrow. I would say we do it after, but I'm afraid they might get sick. Anyway, I wanted to show the girls a good time. And because Emily forced you ( A voice said at the back of my mind) true, she did threaten me...but deep down I wanted to do it...I just needed a little push.
As I was about to get the popcorn, there was a guy at the same aisle as me. When he turned and saw me, he smiled and then looked down at the cart and then back up at me and smiled again. I was too lost in his eyes to concentrate, what did he say focus! Casey you can do this. What dis he say his name was? Cameron?
Cameron: looks like someone is having a girls night ( he smiles at her)
Casey: guilty as charged ( she smiles back at her)
Cameron: my sister would always forced me to have them with her, by the end...I would always end up so captivated by the stories and the relationships, 50% of the time I end up crying.
Casey: those romantic movies will creep up on you.
Cameron: tell me about it! I mean during the movie I'm rolling my eyes then I'm smiling like a idiot and rooting for the guy to get the girl then full on crying.
Casey( laughs)
Cameron: ( he picks ups a movie)Forgetting Sarah Marshall! that's a funny movie.
Casey: I know! The first time I saw it, I didn't think that I would like it because... Well, I didn't think I would like it because of how inappropriate it was but it turnt out to be a really good movie.
Cameron: ( he stares at the other movies in a cart) brides maids! I love that movie too
Casey: me too! This movie got ride of the bias that a cast full of woman couldn't be funny.
Cameron: I just thought it was a really good movie.
Casey: it was.
Cameron: so, besides these movies that you have in your cart...what are some of your favorite movies?
Casey: I love all movies, what I lean towards more is romantic comedies... As you can tell but I also love action movies.
Cameron: really?! Like full on action movies or romantic action movies.
Casey: I like full on action movies! Although I don't like the way woman are treated in those movies, especially James Bond.
Cameron: well, I just think they do that so that they don't take the spotlight away from the main character.
Casey: I mean there's a way to go about doing that, I mean in some of those movies the woman don't even have a back bone or they are a bimbo. And don't even get me started on the super hero movies.
Cameron: well, some people are bimbos and don't have back bones...so that could be realistic and I would love for you started, I could debate with you all day.
Casey: I would win.
Cameron (laughs): I admire the the confidence.
Casey: well, you should know that its not all talk...I can back it up.
Cameron: good to know. So, what's your stance on scary movies.
Casey: I hate them! Once I told my steps brothers that scary movies were so unrealistic and not scary...they went out of there way to scare me and then brag about it. He still hangs it over my head today.
Cameron: I would do the same thing, if my sister said that to me.
Casey: a I can't watch scary movies because of that.
Cameron: well, maybe we should get together some time and I can change your mind about scary and action movies.
Casey: and maybe we can watch romantic movies that don't make you cry.
Cameron: well, I guess we'll both be getting a learning experience from this.
Casey: well, I don't know how your going to make me like scary movies.
Cameron: and I don't know how your gonna show me romantic movies that don't make me wanna cry.
Casey: those kind of movies do exist.
Cameron: they do where? Off the top of your head, can you recommend one?
Casey: seducing Mr. Perfect, To All of the boys I loved before and so many more. What about you?
Cameron: what about me?
Casey: how many Scary movies can you list that aren't scary?
Cameron: scream, chucky, Jason,, Happy Death Day gremlins, IT, IT 2, Bettle juice.
Casey: Bettle juice isn't supposed to be a scary movie!
Cameron: yes it is ( he smiles) so, you saw it? See! Not all scary movies have you sleeping with the lights on, scared to looks under your bed and closet.
Casey: ( smirks) so a movie has made you scared before.
Cameron: of course!
Casey: so why do you watch them?!
Cameron: because of the thrill and excitement! Because at the end of the day, its just a movie and those things in a movie can't hurt me.
Casey: what about the movies that are based on a true story.
Cameron: yeah but how likely of something like that gonna happening.
Casey: 30% maybe even less or more depending on where you live.
Cameron: you think there's a possibility of a ghost killing someone?
Casey: no! I think there's a possibility that a serial killer can hunt someone, torture them and then kill them.
Cameron: OK. You got me there.
Casey: ( smiles) just imagine watching that kind of movie, it would make me so paranoid after.
Cameron: ok, when you put it like that...I understand what your talking about but has it happened. You can't live in fear and always thinking about what if.
Casey: I call it being being prepared.
Cameron: ( laughs) your very optimistic
Casey: thank you.
Cameron: so, you wanna give me your number so you can give me more suggestions for movies.
Casey: sure.
Cameron: great ( smiles)
Casey: ( casey gives him her number)
Cameron: I'm looking forward to your call.
Casey: me too ( smiles)
Cameron: well, I better go...my friends are gonna kill me if I take too long.
Casey: mine too.
He takes his cart and rolls away from casey, Casey is smiling and hopeful. She then grabs the popcorn, chips and baked chips. She also gets some veggie appetizers, bottled water and raisins for the healthy people. Casey sees a karaoke set and she gets it, she then sees the guitar hero game...she always remembered loved playing that game when she was younger. She bumps into Zoey with a basket full of frozen dinners. Casey walks up to her and says hi
Zoey: hey, what are you doing here? ( she looks down at her basket) oh.
Casey: what are you doing tonight?
Zoey: go home and have a tv dinner, I would usually hang out with my boyfriend or best friend but they both got plans.
Casey: and your going to go home alone to eat a frozen tv dinner? Those aren't really healthy for you.
Zoey: I know but I can't cook and I don't feel like driving to get anything to eat.
Casey: well, you wanna come hang out at my place? My friends and I are having a girls night.
Zoey: that would be great! I really didn't want to be alone tonight.
Casey: great! Just get the stuff you need for tonight and I will text you my address.
Zoey: better idea, I can get the stuff I need from here and we can go together.
Casey: sounds like a plan!
Zoey: ok. ( Zoey goes off to get the stuff she needs. As casey gets in line and purchases the items, casey watches as her stuff gets bagged, she looks back to see if Zoey is coming, she turns back when she doesn't see her and by the time she turns back around her stuff is bagged. Casey waits outside for Zoey. She waits by the door for Zoey, A few minutes later she gets a text from Zoey.
Zoey: where did you go?
Casey: I'm outside by the door😁
Zoey: ok. Here I come.
Casey: ok.😂
Zoey (exits the store and searches for Casey): there you are ( she smiles)
Casey: here I am ( she smiles back)
Zoey: I thought you left me in there.
Casey: I would never do that to anyone.
Zoey: good to know.
They walk to their cars, get in and Casey drives to her apartment as Zoey follows. They finally arrive and Casey walks up to her apartment together. Casey walks in the apartment and Zoey follows with her bag.
Kendra: whose the girl?
Casey: she's writing a dissertation on campus life, I must of forgot to tell you.
Kendra: yeah. Like you forgot to tell us why you brought her here.
Casey: she doesn't have anything to do tonight, I didn't want her to be alone.
Kendra: and how long have you known her and your inviting her to your house?
Casey: since yesterday but that's not the point!
Kendra: that's the focus of the topic.
Zoey: I'm right here.
Kendra: we know hun but our friend is very naive.
Zoey: I see where your coming from and I can understand why you might think that but I'm not. I don't know how to convince of that, I really dont ...I was just really lonely and jumped at the chance to be surrounded by people.
Kendra: that I believe!
Zoey: and I really did need casey help on this, I mean she is very detailed oriented, smart and very helpful.
Kendra: and how would you know that at first glance?
Zoey: because she reminds me of me.
Sally: ok! Ok! Enough interrogation lets just have fun.
Kendra: hey! How the shopping go?!
Casey: great! I got a lot of fun stuff, some great snacks and I met a guy ( she said excitedly)
Emily: I'm sorry rewind, you said you met a guy!
Annie: that what I heard too.
Sally: she said it.
Kendra: that what I thought, so was he hot?
Casey: he was sooo good looking, sweet and charming.
Kendra: someone got it bad already, come down gurl.
Casey: I'm fine, I'm just saying.
Emily: what did you guys talk about?
Casey: the movies I got.
Sally: what kind of movies did you get?
Casey: the cutting edge, laws of attraction, forgetting Sarah Marshall-
Sally: say no more I'm sold! Pop it in ( she said excitedly)
Casey gets the movie and pops it in and then starts getting bowls for the popcorn, chips, the candies and she opens the veggie platter. She gets cups for the soda and ask everyone what kind they want; sally ask for cherry coke, Emily wants Pepsi, Annie ask for a water and sally ask for a regular coke. Zoey ask for a water as well. She gives everyone their drink and then gets her water and sits down to enjoy the movie.
The movie opens and the girls are eating popcorn and staring at the screen. They see Jason segel smiling at himself in the mirror, they smile because they have enjoyed his humor in the past. They laugh at him checking himself out in the mirror.
Kendra: I do that
Sally: I don't know who doesn't do that.
Emily: I kind of feel like you have to do that right.
during the break up scene
Casey: I've been broken up like that before.
Sally: me too.
Emily: same
Kendra: I can't relate, guys don't break up with me.
Emily: but didn't Derek break up with you?
Kendra: his the only guy that has.
Sally: broke up with me too
Emily: and me
Zoey: wow! Your best friends with your steps brothers exes...isn't that you know, weird.
Kendra: its not weird! Emily was friends with casey before Derek and Emily got together. I may have used Casey to get to Derek as well but, Casey is a great person and friend...you'll soon realize that too.
Zoey: I wasn't trying to offend anyone.
Kendra: but ya did.
Emily: ok! I'm going to play the next movie, any suggestions.
Kendra: just play anything
Emily: ok! Laws of attraction it is.
Sally: I love that movie! I watched it with Derek before.
(knock,knock)
Casey: pizza's here!
Annie: great I'm starving and soooo uncomfortable.
Casey laughs and heads to the door to open it, she pays for the pizza and closes the door. She places the pizza to the counter and ask everyone what they want. Sally says pepperoni, Emily says pepperoni and sausage, Annie gets thin crust cheese pizza, Zoey gets Supreme and Casey gets a thin crust, veggie lovers pizza. They all get their pizza and then Emily plays the movie.
( knock, knock)
Casey opens the door
Derek (smiles): I saw the pizza guy in the hall way, it looks like your having another sleep over?
Casey: I am and?
Derek: and nothing, I'm proud of you. By the way I still didn't they my gas and groceries today.
Casey: sorry, I forget
Derek: you! Casey McDonald forgot?
Casey: it happens
Derek: well then, you really be having fun. Good! Now, can I have some pizza
Casey: sure! ( she says excitedly)
Derek: ( walks in and sees all of his exes sitting on the couch together and walks right back out.)
Casey: Derek! Come back in here!
Derek: I'm good!
Kendra: (yells) its fine
Sally: yeah. Get in here you big baby.
Emily: everyone is going to be on their best behaviour.
Sally: were capable of being civilized.
Casey: yes Der, go get your pizza
Derek walks fast to the pizza without looking at the girls, he gets a p
Ate and puts six slices on the plate. His about to storm off when casey stops him.
Casey: you want some snacks?
Derek: you have unhealthy snacks? You know some. ( Derek gets a bowl of all of the snacks.)
Ellie (walks in the apartment) there you are? I thought you disappeared on me.
Derek: ( laughs nervously) I will be there in a minute.
Ellie: yummy! Pizza!
Casey: help yourself.
Ellie: ( smiles) thanks!
Sally gets up and starts singing OFFICIALLY MISSING YOU by Tamina

She sits back down and continues watching the movie.
Emily gets up next and gets in the face of Ellie and starts singing girlfriend by Avril Levine ft. Lil mama.
