(4) The Cave of Stars
Chapter 13
Windstar curled her tail over her paws as she viewed Sunflight's dream with watchful eyes. She wove in simple pleasantries – plump prey, a happy Silverpelt – then made a slashing motion directed at the silver she-cat. Sunflight reached out, but the she-cat had disappeared in a cloud of dust.
"Now, Meadowfeather," the leader said, and the queen nodded and stepped out of hiding. She showed him the visions Windstar had crafted before stepping away. The dreamscape fell into darkness.
Out of her peripheral vision, she saw Thunderstar directing Larkflight and Riverstar guiding Brindlefleck into the dreams of Silverpelt and Moonheart. She nodded to Meadowfeather, who took her leave, walking out of the Cave and joining the rest of the deceased in the main region of StarClan.
A couple moments later, Larkflight and Brindlefleck left together and the other two toms joined Windstar.
"You have another dream to manipulate, do you not?" Riverstar inquired, glancing at Brindlefleck's retreating form before turning back to Windstar. Prophecy-related dreams were under the jurisdiction of the Cave of Stars. Usually, the four of them would take turns manning a prophecy by themselves or direct a "committee" of StarClan cats, but since this time was a bit different, all of them were busy – Thunderstar was in charge of Silverpelt's dreams, Riverstar for Moonheart's, and Windstar for Sunflight.
"Yes," she replied. "I'll see if Shadowstar would like to join me, but if not, I think Thunderstar would be good for the job."
"Very well," said the fiery orange tom, swishing his tail along the mossy floors of the Cave of Stars, and he and Riverstar retreated deeper into the Cave to rest.
Once she was sure that the toms had left, she cleared her throat. "Shadowstar?"
Chapter 14
Shadowstar agreed to join Windstar, although begrudgingly. As the ShadowClan leader, she understood greed better than most, and had been tasked with manipulating the feelings of the prophecy cats.
The dream was apparently not going as hoped; Silverpelt was pinned into a corner, hissing at the Sunflight clones Shadowstar had conjured and brought into the dream. Judging by Windstar's face, the WindClan leader had anticipated that Silverpelt would have already figured out that they were fake and gotten rid of them.
Shadowstar finally decided to intervene. "They're not real," she said, coming up behind Silverpelt and whispering into her ear. "Kill them."
Silverpelt took her chances with one of the clones, swiping at it with a paw, and it dissipated, melting into the air as if it had never existed. With a bit more confidence, she cleared away the other clones.
"Enough time has been wasted," said Windstar, shooting Shadowstar a grateful look before turning back to Silverpelt. "You must leave tonight for the mountains. May StarClan walk your path. Have faith."
More lore :)
I've made some edits to the previous extras (they're very minor; just clarifications and the like) so if you want to, go check that out! I will try to post another tomorrow.
