The Power of The Quirkless Ch 14
Class 1-A were on their bus on the way to the camp everyone was talking about how excited they were to get there but Don went to the back of the bus looking out the window and rubbing his forehead *what did I do that could have hurt my head maybe it's just a headache and it will go away. Let me try something* Don used his red aura around his head stopping the pain *huh I can use this like a painkiller I guess* he sat with his head in his aura for a couple of minutes and fell asleep as constant use of his abilities is pretty draining.
Bakugo was at the front of the bus talking to Kirishima when he looked back to find Don seeing he was at the back lying asleep "hold on I'll be back" he got up and walked to Momo asking "hey could you make a light blanket" Momo turned her head "uh yea what for?" Bakugo nods his head towards Don lying asleep in the back of the bus "oh ok sure I will put it on him you just sit back down" Bakugo thanked Momo and sat back down.
Jiro who was talking to Momo asks "what was that about?" Momo made the blanket and replied, "well Donovan is lying at the back asleep so Bakugo wants me to make a light blanket he slept in or something" Jiro looked confused "that's a bit weird don't you think" Momo shrugged "I am a class rep so should look out for my classmates" Jiro nodded and Momo walked to the back putting a blanket over Don.
After a while, the bus comes to a stop letting everyone off the bus, while Don is still asleep the class got surprised by the ground shifting and flowing sending them off the edge all of this rumbling woke Don up *ow my head still hurts how? Ugh anyway, I need to get out of the bus. *Wait is this a blanket who never mind.* Don got up and walked to the front of the bus stretching and yawning seeing Aizawa and the wild pussy cats talking to each other.
"Uh, where's the class?" Aizawa turned and facepalmed "I knew there was something off" Mandalay looked overseeing Don "oh and you must be the Quirkless kid am I right?" Don bowed "Donovan Kingstone" after Don held his head in slight pain "so where is the rest of the class" Aizawa points to the campsite "they are currently running" Don sighed "all right I'll get moving" Don activated his blue aura and raced off. Mandalay and Pixie-Bob look at Aizawa and ask, "I thought you said he was Quirkless" Aizawa walked back onto the bus "yea he is".
Don ran through the forest quite fast as he put all his focus on speed it took him about an hour he arrived there and no one else was there *huh I guess I got here first* he sat on a bench outside the building and quickly fell asleep after another hour the teachers arrived they got off the bus looking at the forest Mandalay folder her arms "I would have thought one person was here" Pixie Bob picked up a box from the bus and saw Don asleep on a bench outside. She nudged Mandalay "what is it?" Pixie Bob nodded towards Don "I think a kitten made it here before us"
Aizawa walks out of the bus and to Don "Hey Don wake up!" Don sits up looking around him seeing the teachers but no class "Hello Sensei sorry I fell asleep" "it's alright help us set up for the rest of the class". Don and the teachers set up for the rest of the class Don also notices that there is a kid there helping but kept his distance not wanting to annoy him since he does not look like he wants to be there.
After all of the set-up, the class arrive looking worse for wear and exhausted "Hey you finally made it" they all look at Don standing there beside the teachers "how did you get here before us!?" Don shrugged "I ran how else?" the wild pussycats bring the class in to have their meal Don already ate so he was getting his suitcase out of the bus when he saw the kid walking off into the forest by himself *I should make sure he's ok* Don follows the kid until he stops on this massive rocky area and he sits near the edge *well it feels weird looking from the shadows* Don walks out from where he was "Hey kid you alright?" the boy stands up shocked "how did you find this place!?" "I followed you to make sure you were ok don't want you to hurt yourself and no one able to help".
The kid sighs "you're one of those people who want to be heroes right?" Don nods "yea I am but it sounds like you don't care for heroes much do you?" the boy huffs and sits back down "it's stupid why would you ever want to be a hero anyway" Don walks slowly towards the kid sitting near him "well I don't think it's stupid I mean risking your life so that other people feel safe that seems worth it".
The kid looks up and to Don "you just want to use your quirk to hurt other people that you deem villains" Don smirked a bit "I don't have a quirk" the narrows his eyes "then why are you here isn't this for people with quirks" Don shrugs "because I want to help people plus I have something better than a quirk" the kid rolled his eyes "yea like what" Don stood up and braced himself "this is my rage" a red aura explodes out of Don with the appearance of a roaring flame.
Don walked over to a rock the size of himself and punched it once breaking it in half, Don returned to where he was standing "this is my sadness" Don took a deep breath and the red aura dissipated and a blue aura replaced it keeping close to his skin. Don walked around but to the kid, it looked like Don was rushing past him, Don once again returned to his spot "and this is something else" Don smiled and shed a tear that's when a pink aura came out.
The aura was like the red aura in scale but calm like the blue aura "Pick up that rock and throw it at me" the kid hesitantly got the rock, throwing it at Don and in an instant the exploded a tiny distance away from Don's chest he then powers down and falls to his knees. The kid runs over to Don "are you ok?" Don chuckles a bit "yea I'm fine it's just it's been hard to keep focus lately my head has been pounding".
Don holds his head and activates a tiny bit of the red aura dulling the pain "ahh there we go any way we should get back to the camp it's pretty late, What's your name?" the kid looks up to Don "my name is Kota" Don smirks "well let's get back Kota". The pair arrive seeing Mandalay outside Don waves "hey I found Kota up in" Kota nudges Don's leg "in his secret base" Mandalay sighed in relief "thanks Don by the way the rest of your class are in the springs" Don nods "thanks" after that Don joins the boys in the springs.
Don walks in, sits leaning back a bit relaxing and closes his eyes *ahh this feels so nice* until he felt a finger poke his shoulder he lifted his head and looked seeing Denki "Hey Donny how did you get that scar" Don looked down at his exposed chest and felt his scar "A while ago a villain attack was happening and I thought it was a good idea to go and watch what was happening but I got too close and one of the villains shoved me out of the way and whatever their quirk was is messed my skin and its been like this since".
Denki's face went from excitement to a little sombre quickly during the explanation "sorry I didn't know it was serious" Don gave a fake smile "yea it's alright" Don got up and left getting changed and went to sleep for the night. The next day was an early start Aizawa got everyone out to a clearing of the forest "Ok today will be the start of the training" he tosses a ball at Don "let's see how you have improved".
Don walks up and gets ready to throw the ball *I can do this just need to get in the right headspace* Don starts to charge up his red aura and he throws the ball and notices something on his arm while he throws the ball a tiny streak of black energy whips around his hand *that kinda looks like* he releases the ball and falls to one knee holding his head Aizawa walks over and checks on Don "You ok?" Don looked up "nothing I can't handle" Aizawa looks at his phone and shows the class 612m.
"Don has improved his strength but not by a high margin so here you will be put to your limits and to break those limits" Aizawa had all of the students do specific exercises Don's exercise was swapping between aura's as fast as possible which drastically effected the headache Don has been having for a couple of days *Ok if this does not go in the next day I'm going to need to tell someone* after the strenuous workout the class gets to wind down and get surprised with the fact they have to make their food.
While everyone was eating the food they prepared Don was looking around for someone Ochaco nudged him "hey what are you looking for?" "that kid Kota I don't think he has had any food but I think I know where to find him" Don picks up a spare bowl with food in it and walk out into the forest eventually finding Kota at his secret area "Hey Kota" the kid turned his head "What do you want?" Don walks up to him and hands him a bowl "brought ya some food thought you might want it".
Kota takes it and starts eating "ugh you know this is terrible" Don smirks sits beside Kota looking at the star-filled sky "you know I finally figured out why you like it up here" Kota stops eating and looks up at the night sky "it's peaceful" Don sits there until Kota is done eating. Don stands up "well I have disappeared for too long here I'll take the bowl back for you" Kota hands the bowl back to Don "thanks" Don nods and walks off.
Don returns to the campsite, helps with the cleanup and goes to bed. The next day they continued their exercises with a little extra motivation with a fun activity at the end of the day everyone was excited so they worked harder than before. Don was doing his training but instead of trying to extend his usage he was trying to figure out how to use the black energy *it happened while I was doing the test throw but nothing was different than when I usually do it*.
No matter what he tried he could not figure out how he used it *its like I subconsciously used it something I just need to find the trigger* after this day of training Don was no closer to using this black energy and was quite ticked off but that's how it is for heroes in training trial and error. It was quite dark out and 3 members of the wild pussy cats gathered class 1-A where they explained what the activity would be.
Pixie Bob explained "It was a test of courage where a pair would walk down this path and class 1-B will attempt to scare you, there are name tags at the halfway point collect those and continue on the path" the class was excited until Aizawa burst a couple of bubbles saying deadpan "those who have the extra class follow me you won't be participating" Mina, Denki, Kirishima, Sero and Sato walked off with Aizawa which left the class with an odd number.
Mandalay pulled out a hat "we will be drawing numbers to see who you get paired with" everyone got their numbers and got their pairs except Don he didn't have a pair since there was an odd number of people there *well I guess that's alright not like they could scare me anyway* a couple of people are sent into the forest when a giant blue blaze was visible to everyone Don quickly turned to Mandalay "it's the LOV tell everyone to get back here now".
Mandalay looks confused "how do you know that?" Don looks sternly at Mandalay "I will say later but everyone is in danger" Don's eyes widen "wait where's Kota?" Mandalay begins to look worried "I don't know where he runs off too but you do. Don go and find Kota we will help everyone else" Don nods and runs off. Mandalay sends out a message to everyone saying that the LOV is attacking everyone hears this but they are not quick enough to run away.
Don is running at his max speed towards Kota's hideout *come on please be up here* he reaches the area with little trouble but sees a big muscular blonde man wearing a red tank top and green combat trousers standing beside a green-haired boy who was wearing a suit vest and tie. Don stayed out of sight looking for Kota but he heard that this big guy and Midoriya were having a heated argument eventually the man threw a punch at Midoriya which he barely dodged.
Don could see that Kota was being backed towards a cliff edge during this all happening and so Don ran out running past Midoriya and the blonde man grabbing Kota and moving further away to get him at a safe distance. After he had moved Kota he returned to see them both staring at him "So what do you 2 have to do with that child?" Don was standing there ready to fight. The tall man laughed and then slammed Midoriya into the wall of the cliff.
Don narrowed his eyes and started walking towards this blonde man "what's your name before I break you" the man continued to laugh "you can call me Muscular and anyway can you direct me to a kid named Donovan he's number 1 on my list" Don stopped a about 10 feet away and smiled "you found him now come and get em" Don powered up his blue power and taunted Muscular. Muscular grinned and launched himself at Don throwing a powerful punch which surprised himself he missed and planted his arm in the ground, Don was behind him checking on Midoriya.
Midoriya looked to be in bad shape as he didn't have time to brace himself with his abilities his arms are messed up but that seems to be where the brunt of the attack Muscular finally got his arm out of the ground and turned around shouting "Hey kid if you don't take me seriously it's going to get ugly real quick" Don moves away from Midoriya and faces Muscular "Why did you hurt your ally?" Muscular grunted, "the brat has been a thorn in my side for a while and now he isn't protected by everyone else".
Don took a deep breath and sighed "you are the worst kind of person your not a hero obviously but your not even a villain you are just a huge monster" Don rushes Muscular still only with his blue power being far too fast for Muscular but with Muscular's quirk constantly increasing his muscle mass it made it hard to do any damage eventually Muscular can see Don's attack pattern and clipped his leg which tripped him up.
Don with the speed he was going is flung a skidding across the ground Muscular starts laughing "Kid your fast but far too predictable now time to die" Don gets to his feet quickly and activated his red aura around his fists and feet as well as his blue rushing back in. Muscular didn't try to dodge thinking *he is too weak to hurt me* but is quickly taken by surprise with a barrage of punches and kicks causing him to back up.
"Damn kid either you got faster or you got stronger let's see which is true" Muscular and Don clashed fists but Don had the edge as he is a lot more dexterous and integrated kicks whenever he could. Muscular is getting overwhelmed quickly until he started using his quirk more and more being able to take the damage Don was throwing out and giving Don a smaller and smaller area to fight with and eventually Muscular get Don by surprise and trapped him.
Muscular had Don trapped and is attempting to crush Don between himself and the ground, he was screaming and shouting in his victory "This is it Kid you're all alone and no one is going to save you" Don was getting worn down Quickly and he was looking around panicking dropping his blue aura *I need every ounce of power I can muster* Don's red aura started to grow from his fists to the rest of his body but it was to little effect as his power was still not enough.
Don accepting his fate he closes his eyes *I couldn't save them if I die Kota and Midoriya are both dead I'm a disgrace I can't even save 2 people in this stupid camp* Don was slowly being put down to 1 knee then to 2 Don was looking at his arms seeing blood dripping from his knuckles *I can barely feel my arms* suddenly Kota ran towards the fight screaming "Come on you can do it you just need to fight don't let this villain win" and surprisingly he hears Midoriya from the wall "Don't let that bastard win!"
Don grits his teeth and attempts to push but gets nowhere quickly when he notices smoke around him and he is transported to the moon Don drops his arms in relief "Don I'm going to make myself very clear I have seen your story everything that makes you tick and this is not where it ends" Don looks at Fudo seeing Fudo looking serious "how can I beat him he just too much" Fudo walks over to Don and slaps him "Maybe instead of suppressing that" Fudo puts his fingers up for quotation marks "HeAdAcHe let it loose let all of that pent up feeling out".
Fudo waves and the area around Don fades into smoke and back into the fight and he hears Midoriya again "DON'T LET THAT BASTARD BEAT YOU" Don yells and Black energy whips around his arms Don separates his arms causing Muscular's extra muscle mass to explode Muscular has a look of confusion and slight fear "What how I swear you were out of power" Don grins and shouts "DON'T YOU DARE UNDERESTIMATE ME!" with that Don full force punches Muscular in the face with both of his fists sending him flying into the mountain.
Authors notes:
So at this point, Don has broken through one of his last power barriers he has left because I want him to be powerful but not too much where he is impossible to beat (I'm saying this but with his current move set he is one of the most powerful students in a 1v1 fight). The black energy is only being tapped into not even properly being used.
