The Last Funeral
Yes my friends and family of Fanfiction! We have now arrived at the final funeral of this series! This will be a funeral for Eva and Malcom who have given up their lives among many others! Sandro, Michael, Alice, Chloe, Kipo and Tiny will also have their part of the funeral as well considering they haven't had one yet! I without further ado let's get to the chapter!
Unknown POV…
Fear of loss…is the worst feeling anybody could possibly have! It could be the fear of losing someone close to you…losing your life…or losing what is important to you! But for me…it's always the fear of losing the ones I love! I didn't know the many birds who have suffered along the way during the war…but the people I do know…they are the ones I must console with during these dark times…
Back To Reality…
RDJ continued to carry Malcom through the jungle in his wings, as he slowly made his way over to the others who just stared at him in sadness, as he too shared the same expression.
"Dominic, take Malcom to the clearing that's on the east side of the jungle! I am going to go to the beach pad with Raul and Talita to collect the four others that have still been left there!" The blue and gold male macaw assassin ordered the harpy eagle male who nodded his head in understanding before picking up the deceased scarlet macaw and carried him off to the destination that he was intended to go to. "Blu, Alex, I want you to try and salvage as much of Eva's feathers or body as you can. Do you think you'd be able to do that?" He asked his blue male friend in concern as he still saw the pain in his chocolate brown eyes.
"I can do it buddy…don't worry…I'll be strong!" Blu remarked as he patted him on the shoulder, before averting his attention towards his snowy owl friend. "Come on Alex! Let's get to it!"
"Alright…let's go!" Alex sadly responded as the two of them flapped their wings abs made their way back to the battlefield to find the rest of Eva's body.
"What about the rest of us assassin? What would you like us to do?" Mandisa spoke up while Donkor wrapped a wing around his beloved wife.
"Go with Domino's and the others to the clearing…the funeral will begin when everyone is ready!" RDJ replied before motioning with his head towards the direction that the harpy eagle male flew in.
"Okay my boy, let's go everyone!" The burrowing owl male beamed as everyone else followed him to where Dominic went, leaving Lila and Jewel with Jamison just outside of the assassins guild.
"Okay…so what are we supposed to do?" Princess Jamison asked her friends who only shrugged their shoulders in confusion.
"Shouldn't we just go to the clearing with all the others?" Jewel asked as she gazed at her friends.
"I think so…we wouldn't want RDJ to wonder where we have gone off to!" Lila responded calmly, and all four of them flapped their wings to rejoin the rest of the samba club team.
Let's Go To Blu And Alex…
Back on the now quiet and clear battlefield, our beloved blue spix's macaw male Blu and our lovable snowy owl male Alex made their way back to the place where Lila was trapped inside of the energy.
As soon as they arrived back at the certain spot, they noticed how decomposed and old the earth looked around them. They felt really cringed out by this sight, as they knew that a lot had to be done before this city could ever be restored.
"Christ The Redeemer…have you seen this Blu? This place looks like a wasteland now!" Alex was the first to speak as he started collecting some of the several toucan feathers that was left behind when Eva sacrificed herself.
"This used to be such a peaceful place Alex…why did it all have to go down like this?" Blu replied quite sadly as he continued to pick up some…chunks of Eva's flesh. "It's weird how normally this sort of thing would make me gag or throw up? But now I'm just doing this with a brave face!"
"One of your closest friends died buddy…it's understandable given the circumstances!"
"I know! But…why did she have to suffer?! Even when Rafi died, surely that was enough already?"
"Maybe she did what she did because she wanted to be reunited with her husband? Don't forget Blu…once you have that loving spark with someone…you never want to leave their side!" Alex reassured his friend as he managed to collect all the feathers from his side of the area. "Okay, I collected all the feathers!"
"And I'm done with the rest of the…mess!" Blu remarked as he scraped all of what was left of his friend into a bag and zipped it up before slinging it over his shoulder. "Now let's go back to the others!"
"Hold on buddy…I want to say something to you first!" Alex puller him back with his wing and spun him around to face him.
"What is it Alex?" Blu archer a curious eyebrow before crossing his wings.
"You know that I am always gonna be here for you right?"
"Of course? What do you mean by that?"
"I mean, I think of you as like a brother! And I have your back until the day I die!" Alex smiles warmly at his friend and placed a friendly wing on his shoulder. Causing the blue macaw male to smile back at him.
"Thank you Alex…I think of you as a brother too!" Both of them hugged each other briefly, before quickly separating. "Okay, let's get back to our wives before they start to get worried about us!"
Now We Go To RDJ, Raul And Talita…
"So that's how you knew Zenon? He tried to force himself on top of you before Emily saved you?" Raúl asked the harpy eagle female who nodded her head and smiled at her new friend as they glided through the air with a bright smile on both of their faces.
"Yep! Thank the redeemer that Lila killed that prick! Otherwise I would have finished him off myself if I had been given the right opportunity!" Talita laughed with the white hawk male, as the two of them were getting along like a house on fire. (A metaphor that we use frequently in Britain wink wink!)
RDJ remained silent during this brisk fly towards the now decapitated beach pad, that once stood strong since the first day that he returned to Rio.
"Ahhhh…what a shame that it came to this…If I ever see Felix in another life, I want him to know that he will be the first one I will hunt down!" The blue and gold male whispered to himself as he continued to fly with the staff and cube gripped in his talons.
Once the three of them arrived at the scene, Talita and Raul had a rough idea on what their leader wanted them to do.
"Let's see if we can find what is left of them! I'm sure that they didn't just move the bodies after the fire?" RDJ remarked as he took the time to land inside of the area, which used to be the inside of the beach pad.
"Wow…I remember when this place had so many great memories…all gone! Poof! Just like that!" Raúl sadly spoke up as he strolled inside.
RDJ just looked around the place with a really glum look on his face, remembering the painful moment that this beach pad was destroyed. But that wasn't the main thing on his mind…it was a memory that he would never forget.
"This is the place where me and Lila were intimate for the very first time. The place where she told me she loved me!" The blue and gold male sadly spoke as he noticed something out if the corner of his eye. "I think I found one of them!"
He flew over to the corner of the room and noticed that he saw Alice and Chloe's burnt up corpses, with Michael's just besides him. But Sandro's however was on the other side of the room. Leaning up against the window.
"Your friend must have tried and tried to get out of there! Such a shame that they had to suffer like this…" Talita sadly spoke, as she wiped away a couple of tears that she shed.
"Come on…let's get these bodies back to the others! Talita, you carry Michael as you are a larger species! Raul, you take Alice and Chloe! I'll take Sandro!" RDJ remarked as he strapped the staff to his back, and picked up Sandro's corpse in his talons. "Ewww…they are really rotten! Eight months of decomposition!"
"Well the sooner we get back, the sooner we can say goodbye to our fallen friends! Wait…what about Kipo and Tony's bodies?" Raúl asked as he picked up both geese in his talons.
"Dominic and Fernando told me they already took care of them! They are laying in the graves next to Rafi, Diante, Zeek and Georgia!" RDJ responded before flapping his wings. "Come on you two, let's get back to the clearing!"
Speaking Of Which…
"There…taken care of!" The harpy eagle male Dominic beaked as he finished burying Malcom's body next to RDJ's parents. "Are you sure that this is a good idea? He's not gonna be mad is he?"
"He said it should have been fine! Leona and Luis went back to the stadium to bring the others including the children so that we can begin!" Jewel replied as she cracked her wingtips. "I gotta tell you, that battle has literally been the most amazing experience ever! We finally got rid of the enemy once and for all!"
"But at what cost darling? We have lost soooo many lives! Like so many!" Martín responded with a glum look while Douglas comforted him.
"Shouldn't your boyfriend be back by now?" Apollo asked Lila who only shrugged her shoulders in response.
"I don't know? He has been gone for a few minutes! Don't forget they are bringing back bodies with them!" She replied with a saddened look.
"I just can't believe it's finally over…we can finally go back to normal!" Emily responses as she felt quite tired after that battle. "I gotta tell you though Siax…you were so…flexible during that battle!" The scarlet female winked at the burrowing owl female who blushed a little but did find it weird that a girl was hitting on her.
"Oh look! Blu's back with Alex!" Cabot spoke up as he pointed at the two new arrivals at the scene.
The blue male macaw and snowy owl landed besides Dominic and placed what was left of Eva's remains in the hole that the harpy eagle dug. Then they both took a shovel, and started shovelling soil into the hole to fill it up.
"Wow, you are straight in there guys!" Leona remarked with a confused eyebrow raised.
"We just want to bury them before we get too upset looking at what was left of her!" Blu sadly responded as they filled up the hole and patted the soil down. Before throwing down the shovels, and then embracing their respective wives.
"Honey…it's okey! It's okay, please don't cry!" Jewel sweetly whispered to her husband as she warmly embraced him.
Blu was in fact in a jet stream of tears, after losing yet another one of his closest friends, he is completely heartbroken. And the only thing he wants to do right now is to be in the losing wings of his wife.
"Sniff! She was…She was like a…a sister to me!" Blu continued to cry into her shoulder as he still couldn't believe that one of his closest friends gave up her life to save them. "First Rafi! Now Eva! Why is it that we keep losing the ones we love?"
"I don't know Bluey! But…she was lonely! And she wanted to be with her husband again! So she risked her own life…just so that we could be on this earth just a little bit longer!" Jewel responded sweetly as she lifted his head up with her wingtip. "How about after the funeral tonight, you and me head back to our hollow for some alone time? We could ask someone to watch the kids?"
"I would love to…but who'd be willing to watch the children?" Blu asked curiously as he wiped away his tears.
"I'll do it?!" Both Blue spix's macaws turned around to see Mason and Florence approaching them with bright smiles on their beaks. "Me and my wife won't mind watching them for one night!"
"Are you sure? We don't want to be a bother!" Jewel spoke as she wrapped a wing around her husband's shoulders.
"Of course we don't mind! We are going to stick around in Rio for a little while anyway, we have to stay for RDJ's bachelor party and Lila's bachelorette party!" Florence spoke up next as she cracked her wingtips.
"Thank you guys! We really appreciate it!" Blu smiled at his new friends and wiped away his tears.
"No problem my friend! We are here for you…"
"OKAY GUYS! LET US BEGIN!" Soon, everyone in the area turned around to face RDJ, as he arrived on the scene with Talita and Raul carrying the bodies with them as they placed them down in the individual holes, before Dominic and Tomada filled them up.
"Not yet honey, we are waiting for the others from the stadium!" Lila remarked while embracing her beloved.
"They are here already, look behind you!" The blue and gold male macaw remarked with a chuckle as he pointed behind her.
As she turned around, she did start to blush in embarrassment as she saw a large army of birds standing there. With their wings cupped together as they prepared for the funeral.
"Tiago and Hazel are back at the stadium dealing with the injured birds, but they will look at the graces later!" RDJ pointed out as he made his way over to the huge rock that was in the middle of the jungle. "Okay…we will begin!"
"Good, because I want to drink!" One of the assassins from Cairo spoke up as he waited there patiently for the funeral to begin.
RDJ jumped on top of the perch, and stood there with his wings by his sides, and he stared out at the entire army of birds who had all turned up at the scene of the funeral to pay their respects for the dead.
"Friends! Family! Brothers snd sisters in wings or paws regarding Luis!" RDJ remarked as he saw the bulldog winking at him professionally. "We are all gathered here today on this very sad occasion, to say goodbye to the many loved ones we have lost in this battle against Felix and his men! Sandro, Michael, Kipo, Tiny, Malcom, Alice, Chloe, Eva and many others who we have tragically lost in this battle!"
The entire army bowed their heads in respect as they listened to their mentor very carefully as he passionately spoke about their deceased loved ones.
"Sandro…Leona told me so much about him! He once used to work for the enemy with Douglas a couple years back! But he changed to our side along with his brother, and he put his heart and soul on the line to help us whenever we needed him to! He was a loving boyfriend, a wonderful brother, and a true pleasure to be in my life! He was truly a remarkable bird!"
Leona wrapped a wing around Douglas as the two of them tested up when thinking about their loved one leaving them so soon.
RDJ continued on to mention Michael. "I barely knew Michael personally, but he was a very passionate bird, who always put others before himself! He was a very strong fighter and a great guy! I will always remember the time we sang on stage together with Roberto, and that was a good memory of me and him together!" The blue and gold male explained as he did shed a couple of tears.
"Michael would have loved that!" Raúl remarked as he cried into Helena's shoulder who quickly comforted him in his moment of grievance.
"Then we come to Kipo and Tiny! Two wonderful birds who have been at the samba club their entire lives! They always put their heart and souls into everything! Family, the music, the birds of Rio! Two beautiful souls who have been taken far too soon from us!"
"This is freaking beautiful!" Nico cried as he held his best friend Pedro tightly as the two of them cried a lot.
"Malcom…He was such a great guy! Even though his standup comedy routine stunk the place up!" RDJ joked a little, causing the crowd to chuckle slightly out if respect. "I know that he used to be with Lexi a long time ago! But even though both of them had their issues which I won't be getting into…"
"Good choice!" Lexi called out as Jaime wrapped his wings around her to comfort her.
"He was at the samba club the day that Blu and Jewel met for the very first time! I should know, because i was there!"
"Wait…WHAT?!" Martín called out in a shocked voice as he placed a wing on his heart.
"I know, I know it's pretty unbelievable!" RDJ responded as he shook that comment off and continued with his speech. "But he came a very long way from there, and he ended up becoming a very valuable asset to this team! He became a true member of the family, and I for one will truly miss how he always managed to be this incredible bird!"
"He was truly incredible!" Alex spoke to his wife, causing Siax to hug him affectionately as they continued with the funeral.
"Then we come to Alice and Chloe! Two female geese who cake all the way here from Minnesota, just to live here with our friends and family! Alice had a daughter with the team captain Blu…little Hazel! Which at first caused a little bit of nerves throughout the team. But eventually that brought the team even closer together! Alice was a wonderful mother and a beautiful spirit! As for Chloe, I didn't know much about her myself, but she was briefly with Thomas, before he ended up getting Lexi preg…" He did pause slightly because he saw that the scarlet female and blue jay male couple were just staring at him uncomfortably. "We don't have to get into that!"
"Thank you!" Both of them simultaneously responded as they continued to grieve.
"Chloe was a wonderful sister to Alice! A great friend, and she is another brace soul that we will hold close to our hearts!"
"Phew, I'm glad he didn't mention the…" Blu was about to say a certain something that made him feel relieved, but the blue and gold male noticed this and decided to add a little joke in there.
"And Blu was quite close to both of them…literally! Let's just say he enjoyed a female goose sandwich!"
"Ah shit!" Blu cursed in annoyance, as the crowd around him began snickering and laughing when talking about the threesome that Blu had with them in Minnesota.
"Okay okay! Settle down guys! Settle down!" RDJ asked the army to cease their laughter as it did get a little bit out of wing. "Anyway, we now come to the final bird in this funeral…who was the one most recent to be taken away from us! But not just taken away from us! She is by far the biggest hero that I will ever ever know! I am going to miss her so very much…Eva…the lovely toucan female!"
"This is it…I don't even know if I can control my tears now!" Tomada the falcon remarked as he was on the verge of tears.
"Come on honey…it's okay! Let it all ou…" Sorrel was about to say to him, but then Tomada did just that and burst into a full stream of tears, causing Sorrel to roll her eyes a little bit. "Out…okay okay! I know, I know!"
RDJ saw what was going on, and did give him a bit of a empathetic smile as he did feel his pain when talking about someone close leaving them so soon!
"Eva…she was a remarkable individual! She wore her heart on her wing, she was a wonderful wife, a wonderful friend, a fantastic mother! She was the most inspirational bird I have ever met! She was always so welcoming to me when I first joined the team! She was always so helpful when I asked her for some advice about my relationship! I will miss her so much! But…she didn't tell anyone this…but secretly Leona and Lila gave her singing lessons so that she could sing for us! Even though we can't hear it in person…but Pedro took the liberty of getting the whole thing on record! Pedro? Can you play the recorder please?"
The red crested cardinal nodded his head slowly and pressed play on the recorder.

End Of Recording…
"Wow! That was…beautiful! She…She actually sang so brilliantly!" Pedro cried as he started clapping his wings in praise for their deceased friend. That was the followed by many of the birds in the army who have all clapped their wings and cheered as they finished listening to the recording.
"Oh my goodness! She sounded like an angel didn't she Blu?" Jewel sweetly cooed to her husband who was at a loss for words.
"She sure was! I cannot believe she did that! When did she sing that Lila?" Blu asked the blue female who placed a wingtip on her chin to think.
"I think we recorded that one month ago? So it was a while ago!" Lila responded as she wiped away a few of her tears. "She did so well! It's a shame that she couldn't sing in front of all of us!"
"Anyway…now we will all bow our heads for a one minute silence as we remember the ones we have lost in the last eight years!" RDJ spoke as he lowered his head followed by everyone else…but for some of the army members they continued talking like nothing was said. Causing the head of the assassins to get a little testy. "Do you guys mind?! Show some respect!"
They continued talking like nothing had happened, but they were taking in a foreign language, so it was safe to say that they might not speak any English. "Max? Do your friends speak English?"
"Not all of them! Some of them only speak French!" The hyacinth male replied as he cupped his wings together. "Ooooi! Ferme ta gueule!" (Shut the fuck up).
All of them immediately stopped talking and turned around to face the head of the assassins who had his wings crossed in irritation. Soon they all understood what he was trying to tell them and all bowed their heads in respect.
"Merci! Now…a moment of silence! Shhhhhh!" RDJ put his wingtip to his beak to signal them to be quiet.
(One Minute Of Silence Passes)
"Thank you so much for all of you who attended this battle and this funeral! You are all now free to do as you please! But please, if you can, stick around for a little while! Enjoy each other's company and have a safe journey home when you feel the time is right!" RDJ called out to his army, who all clapped their wings and bowed, before turning around to each other and had their own conversations, signalling the end of the funeral.
RDJ jumped down from his perch, and warmly embraced his beloved, kissing her on the beak lovingly.
"So how did I do?" RDJ asked Lila as he stroked her chest in a smooth pattern, making her giggle in delight.
"You were really great up there my love! I couldn't have said any of that better myself! But what of Belarus? When are you going to return the staff and cube?" Lila replied as she looked at him quite worryingly.
"That doesn't matter right now Lila! All that matters, is that I will be here to take care of you until the eggs have been laid and hatched, then we raise our children, and eventually when I feel like my life is almost at an end…then I will return it! Because I would have retired from fighting by then!"
"Oh god…you're not gonna develop a dad bod are you? Because a girl has her needs!" Lila cheekily remarked as she ran a wingtip down his muscly six pack.
"You cheeky little…" RDJ chuckled as he started tickling her sides a little making her laugh.
"Okay! Okay! Stop it! Hehehe!"
"Alright, alright! Don't worry my love, I will keep my muscles strong, as long as you do that one thing for me?"
"And what would that be my love?" Lila replied as she tilted her head to the side.
"Stay exactly the same! You are perfect in every way, and if you ever change who you are, I'll fly off with your best friend!" RDJ joked as he saw that she was mischievously smiling at him. But before Lila could respond, Jacqueline decided to join in on the joke.
"I wouldn't mind that!" Jacqueline added as she slapped RDJ on his rock hard butt.
"HEY! I AM STANDING RIGHT HERE!" Roberto blurted our in annoyance while rolling his eyes.
"Oh calm down Roberto! We are only kidding around?" Lila reassures her friend who immediately softened his expression.
"Thank god! I don't get how this is all over so quickly? Why is it that Felix and his men just died like that?"
"Roberto, Felix's men have all cowered away because they wanted to be free! So they were just as much as victims as the rest of us!"
"If they were victims RDJ, why would they try to…oh I don't know? KILL US?!" Jameson shouted in annoyance as he waved his wings frantically in the air.
"Easy Jameson! Easy! All I have to do in a decade or so is return the cube and staff to Belarus! Once I've done that, then it's officially all over!"
"Speaking of which? When are we going to get to the funeral after party, and where are we gonna go?" Emily asked as Talita wrapped a wing around her comfortingly.
"The assassins guild, there's not much use for it for me now the war is over!" RDJ smiles as he clapped his wings together, before taking a good look at the rusty old building. "Raul, Tomada, Dominic! Grab the speakers from the stadium and bring them to the guild! Jewel, Siax, Emily! The three of you bring some things to pretty the place up! Nico, Pedro and Sorrel! Being all the drinks and glasses you can! Everyone else, start cleaning the place up! Looks like a shit hole!"
"Yes mentor!" All of them responded enthusiastically as they all departed to do their jobs, but as soon as he turned around, Tina tugged on his wing, and he slowly looked down at her and smiled warmly.
"What's wrong Tina? Are you scared of going in the scary building?" The blue and gold male asked the young chick who shook her head from side to side. "Then why do you look confused?"
"I'm not confused uncle RDJ! I just wanted to know if I could help bring some things to pretty the place up? Because I've been doing pretty well with decorating when I helped prepare for the last wedding ceremony!" She cutely asked while staring at him with hopeful eyes.
"That was you? You did an amazing job! Okay, just because it's you, I'll let you do it!"
"Yay! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" She beaker with a cute smile as she turned away, but just before she did, RDJ did stop her for a moment.
"Wait! Can I ask you a couple more questions Tina?"
"Sure! What's up?"
"Firstly, would you be interested in decorating the club for my wedding with Lila?" RDJ asked her confidently while smiling at her.
"Really?! Me?!" She responded with so much enthusiasm and clapped her wings together in excitement. "I would be honoured! What was the second question?"
"Great! And…did…Ughhh…did your parents, ever mention me?" The head of the assassins asked curiously as he gave her a really hopeful glance.
Tina placed a wingtip on her chin to think if she ever had heard her parents mentioning his name before. And as soon as she thought of something, she instantly clicked her wingtips to show she had heard his name before.
"Yes! They told me about the time, that after you saw Blu and Jewel meeting for the very first time, you spent a whole day with them to catch up like old times, and everywhere you went you always had girls flirting with you? What does flirting mean?" Tina asked curiously as she cocked her head to the side.
"Haha I think this is a conversation you should be having with Martin and Douglas! I'll tell you some stories about me and your parents at some point! Thank you for reminding me!"
"You're welcome! See you in a little while!" She cooed cutely before flapping her wings and flying off towards the jungle to find some items to improve the appearance of the club.
As she left the area, RDJ was in deep thought about something…something that Zeek has told him the day after Blu met Jewel at the samba club.
"I still don't understand what he meant…maybe it has got something to do with…me?"
Now what do you think that means? What did Zeek tell his best friend after the night from 'Love At The Samba Club'? You will find that out in the next chapter! But so far we have now reached the end of our final funeral! Saying goodbye to get another main character in Eva! May she rest in peace! But as we head into the next chapter, what Zeek will say will start to pull some things together! Maybe even answer some more unanswered questions? Who knows?
