My knee is still hurting, and I still have to wear my knee brace to give my knee support. I pray for everyone to stay safe from Covid-19.

Getting Ditched

Grandpa opened his garage door, and his 1957-1958 car sat there.

"Well, how do you like that baby, huh?" Grandpa asked.

"It's a beauty." Sam answered.

"Come on, let's get in," said Grandpa.

"Alright. Hey, can I drive it on the way back?" Sam asked, as he got in the passenger seat.

"Fat chance," Grandpa said. "Nobody drives this baby but me." He got in, and started the car. The car had a very nice engine. "Yeah. You gotta let it warm up a little. Hear that sound? Just like a baby pussycat. Okay, let's go to town."

"Alright!" Sam said smiling. But then he frowned when the engine stopped, and Grandpa got out. He looked at Sam through his window.

"Well, are we having fun or what?" Grandpa asked.

"I thought we were going to town," Sam said.

"That's as close to town as I like to get," Grandpa said, and then left.

Later that day, while they were out, Sam went into the comic book store once again. The dark-haired boy, who was named Alan Frog, noticed Sam was back, and nudged his bandana wearing brother, Edgar, to inform him.

Sam went over to a spot and picked up a comic, and looked at it as the two boys walked over to him. Sam looked at them, and then looked back down at the comic. Then the two boys looked at each other, and Sam walked down further.

"Notice anything...unusual about Santa Carla yet?" Alan asked.

"No, it's a pretty cool place," Sam answered, "If you're a Martian."

"Or a vampire," added Edgar. A sarcastic smile broke out on Sam's face.

"Are you guys sniffing on newsprint or something?" he asked.

"You think you really know what's happening around here, don't you? Well, let me tell you something. You don't know shit, buddy," Edgar told him. The three of them kept walking.

"Yeah. You think we just work in a comic book store for our folks, huh?" The dark haired boy asked.

"Actually, I thought it was a bakery." Sam said, sarcastically.

"This is just our cover," Edgar said. He took a comic book off of the shelf, and rolled it up in his hand. He pointed it at Sam's chest. "We're fighters for truth, justice, and the American way."

"Right." Sam said, sarcastically. The two boys were so serious, and Sam was being a smart-ass. Sam walked off, the two boys behind us.

"Hey, man," Edgar said, "Read this." He held out a comic that said Destroy All Vampires.

"I told you I don't like horror comics," Sam said.

"Think of it more as a survival manual," Alan told him, "There's our number on the back." He then said, handing Sam the comic. "And pray you never need to call us."

Sam nodded, "I'll pray I never need to call you. Sure," he said, and the two walked off. Sam smiled completely amused.

Later when it was dark Michael decided to go to the boardwalk, mostly to look for that mysterious dark-haired girl. Michael asked Stacy if she wanted to come along with him, which she immediately said yes to. She also secretly brought Tod with her and kept her stuffed fox hidden in her jacket, so Michael wouldn't see him. When Stacy wanted to bring Tod with her the night before when she went to the boardwalk with her brothers, Michael told her to leave him at home.

While Stacy was riding the Ferris Wheel, Michael decided to get himself a black leather jacket. After he bought the jacket, he thanked the girl and was making his way back to where his little sister was.

But then Michael noticed an ear piercing stand and stopped to take a look and was watching a girl getting her ears pierced.

"It's a rip-off," a girl's voice whispers.

Michael turns and sees the dark-haired mysterious girl who he's been looking for. She then turns and walks away and he follows her. "Hi," he says.

"If you want your ear pierced I can do it," the girl offers.

"What's your name?" Michael asked.

"Star," the girl answers.

"Oh your folks too huh?" Michael said.

"What do you mean?" Star asked.

"Ex hippies," Michael explained and made a hand gesture, "I came this close to being called Moonbeam or Moonchild or something like that. But Star's great, I like Star."

"Me too," said Star.

Unknown to Michael, he and Star are being watched by David and the other boys. David smokes a cigarette as he watches Star and Michael.

"I'm Michael," Michael replies.

"Michael. Michael's great, I like Michael," Star said.

"You want to get something to eat?" Michael offers.

"Okay," Star replies.

But before they get on, David then signals to the boys. Soon Michael and Star are surrounded by the gang. They look around at all of them, but Star is more focused on David.

"Where you going Star?" David asks.

"For a ride. This is Michael," Star replies.

"Let's go," Michael says gesturing to the spot behind him. Star moves to get on Michael's bike.

"Star," David states in a warning tone.

Star glances over at Michael before going over to David's bike and getting on the back of it. Paul gives chuckles softly.

"You know where Hudson's bluff is overlooking the point?" David asked Michael.

"I can't beat your bike," Michael replies.

"You don't have to beat me Michael," David tells him, "You just have to try and keep up." They then start their motorcycles.

"For a ride," Dwayne whispers to the boy behind him. With that the group takes off.

"Yeah whoo!" One of the them cheers as they speed off down the boardwalk and down the stairs. Michael looks hesitantly but then chooses to follow them, completely forgetting about his little sister who was still at the boardwalk.

Sorry that there wasn't much of Stacy in this chapter. But in the next chapter, Stacy meets The Lost Boys.
