A/N: please do not kill me for this. I really like where this chapter got me. And, you have every right to be angry with me for this.
"Give me the ember." Mom seethed. I take a classic villain stance in this situation.
"What's in it for me?" I ask. Mom thinks for a second.
"The joy of knowing you helped your… mother return to her full power."
"Not good enough." I say, raising the ember, ready to take ALL of her powers away, for the good of Auradon.
"Hadie, darling." Harry says. I hum in response. "Maybe… don't. What if you need her help with something and she's mad at you."
"She isn't my mother, I don't care what the genetics say. There is no way that I'm related to a fairy. Despicable." I say. Something flashes in Maleficent's eyes.
"Fine." she says, walking away. Realization hits me.
"What have I done?" I ask, running a hand through my hair. "I have to ask Mal how to fix this!" I exclaim. In a frenzy, I teleport my friends to Evie's castle, and feel my powers start to take the wheel. My breathing becomes shakier with each breath.
"Hadie!" Mal exclaims, seeing my state. "Her eyes are blue. What happened?" Mal says quickly. Harry launches into an explanation, and I sit down. I feel the rush of power leave me.
"I'm dumb." I declare suddenly, breaking the silence that followed. Mal raises her eyebrows and nods.
"Yeah, you are." I roll my eyes. "But, I will help you fix this because you thought of me first and I think that is the sweetest thing you've ever done." Mal teases. I curl my lip in dismay.
"Yes, I feel the sisterly love here." I reply dryly. Mal laughed.
"No, but I will help you." I chuckle through my nose.
"Thanks, sis." I say.
"Your welcome… sis." We both laugh. We sit in silence as Harry, Uma and Evie walk out of the room, I didn't notice them there before… oops. "I invited Audrey, Jane and Ben over for dinner." Mal says.
"I'll have the younger kids eat beforehand, and I will too, then hang out with them upstairs." I say with a smile.
"No, Ceilia needs to get over her fear of Audrey." Mal says. I nod.
"Okay." I shrug and leave. I walk into the room Quelle, Ceilia and Dizzy share. I stand there for a few seconds, watching as the three younger girls try to use Ceilia's magic. "Hi, guys." I say with a soft smile.
"Hadie!" they all shout. I laugh.
"Mal invited all of our friends over for dinner tonight, and you guys have to come eat with us." I say.
"All right." Quelle says, turning over to her bed and sitting and starting to read off spells.
"I'm SO in!" Dizzy exclaimed, turning to Ceilia.
"W- will Audrey be there?" Ceilia asked, fear evident in her voice.
"I'm not sure." I reply.
"Okay, then I'll come because you'll protect me." Ceilia says with a shrug. I smile at the three, then leave the room. When I get back downstairs, I see Dad and Mal in deep conversation.
"I didn't uphold my end of the bargain." I blurt out. Dad turns to face me, a look of shock and confusion present.
"You what?" Dad spat out.
"The last straw, I'm so sorry, Dad!" I cry. His gaze softens.
"We will have to tell everyone before she does, tonight." Dad says carefully. I furrow my eyebrows.
"Why? I mean, we've kept this a secret for so long. Why now?" I ask. Mal looks between us.
"For Mal. She deserves to know. And for Harry, he loves you and this is clouding your relationship." Dad reasons, waiting for me to cave.
"Fine. For Mal and Harry. Because I love them." Dad gives me a knowing look. "But, how upset will everyone be?" I ask.
"Very, very upset, but we can't keep this secret much longer." Dad says with a sad smile.
"I know, and that is why I'm willing to face my worst fear." Mal's confusion only deepens at my words. Dad nods, and continues his conversation with Mal, this time the conversation seems strained. Mal looks over at me, and I give her a small smile.
LATER:
I sit outside, tensing every time someone looks in my direction. I wait until some of the chatter has died down before I stand up.
"I have something to tell all of you. I know, you might hate me, but this needs to be addressed before something happens." I say, looking at each and every one of my friend's faces. Dad walks up beside me, my heart starts to beat faster. I'm doing it.
He notices and whispers, "Everything will be fine. We can trap their souls forever if they can't come to terms with this." I nod stiffly before turning back to my friends.
"I'm a fraud." Everyone gasps, and menacing glares are sent my way.
"Before you get mad, let me explain. Once upon a time, long, long ago, there lived a god and a goddess. The god known as Hades, the goddess known as Persephone. Hades fell madly in love with Persephone, but she did not return his feelings. So, Hades, being the evil scheming villain he is, decided to kidnap Persephone and force her to marry him. So, that's what happened. Persephone and Hades lived in the Underworld. But, Persephone's mother, Demeter, grew worried for her daughter. Demeter is the goddess of agriculture and fertility. Demeter neglected her duties, and the mortals started dying left and right. Zeus, seeing no way out of this situation, sent Hermes to go and fetch Persephone. But, before Persephone had left, she had eaten a pomegranate, which according to ancient laws, obliged her to return to the Underworld. Zeus then proposed a compromise. Persephone spent two-thirds of the year with her mother, and one-third with her husband. One of the times she was with her husband, they had a daughter. Hades wanted a name that Persephone liked, and Persephone wanted a name that reminded her of Hades. So they chose the name 'Hadassah,' the fates had warned them that their daughter wouldn't get her happily ever if she was shown at Mount Olympus or in the mortal world. They kept their daughter hidden for over 71,000 years. Then King Beast hid away ALL villains, including Hades. Hades took his daughter with him to his cave. There, they lived for four years. The fates had told Hades that Maleficent had to take care of his daughter for her happily ever after, so he listened because he wants what is best for her. Skip five years, and Hadassah gets into a fight with Maleficent. Now, Hades had made her make a deal that she had to pretend Maleficent was her mom. She failed. Then, she met the best friends she could ever ask for, knowing one day they will either hate her or continue with their lives. She knew that she couldn't live in isolation forever, and doesn't regret that decision, but she does regret not telling them." I wait for a few seconds, fearing the worst.
"You are a liar, Hadie. A fraud." Mal's voice says. "I wouldn't mind so much if you just lied to me. But you lied to Ben, you lied to Doug, you lied to Evie, you lied to Lonnie, you lied to Audrey, you lied to Jay, you lied to Gil, you lied to Uma, you lied to Squeaky, you lied to Squirmy, you lied to Quelle, you lied to Dizzy, you lied to Ceilia, you lied to Jane, you lied to Carlos, you lied to Harry. How can we trust you now? You lied to all of us. We can't trust you, and I'm embarrassed to be your sister. Excuse me, half sister." Mal said, her words sharp like knives.
"You're right. I lied to all of you." I say, sadness in my voice. "And you have every right to be very, very mad at me." My voice is shaking now. "I had to tell you before Maleficent did, and framed Dad and I as diabolical villains for revenge." Harry stepped closer to me, and hope fluttered in my chest.
"We're over." Harry said simply, that hope deflated. Tears prick at my eyes, but I push them away. "How do I know you weren't lying to me the whole time? I don't because you are a liar." Harry said, sadness in his voice and pain clear on his face. I wanted to hug him, but my feet were rooted to the spot.
"I knew it was a mistake to even think about dating you." I sneer. "I seem to have the knack of picking guys who don't care about me." Harry looked hurt, but I ignored this and turn away. Dad catches up with me, and spins me around.
"I'll go with you, it's my fault."
"No. Dad, Mal is mortal and I'm not. Go spend time with her." I say. Dad raises an eyebrow. "I'll be with Mom on Mount Olympus." I see Mal out of the corner of my eye, and regret filled her features. "See you with the gods." I say, going to leave.
"See you with the gods." I toss him the ember around my neck, and teleport to Mount Olympus. I arrive on the clouds, and spot Mom. No one else seems to be around.
"H- Hadassah?" Mom asks.
"Who else would it be?" I ask with a smile. Mom comes over and gives me a big hug. "Dad told me I had to tell my friends, who aren't my friends anymore." Mom nods.
"I figured he told you to do that." Mom says looking over me. "You've grown into your own."
"Spending time with a god who thinks he's a rock star tends to do that." I say with a laugh.
"Yes, he was always quite the character." Mom says, leading me to a room in a cloud. The walls were fluffy, like clouds. "You can stay here, I'm next door, and your grandmother is next to me." Mom says. I nod. "Get changed, Hadassah. I'll tell the others of your arrival." I nod and walk over to the closet full of flowery clothes. I wrinkle my nose in disgust, before picking out an outfit. After changing, I walk over to the chatter I hear. I recognize Uncle Zeus' booming laughter. I shuffle on the outskirts of the room. Mom spots me.
"Attention everyone!" she yells. The chatter stops and everyone turns to Mom. "I have a well kept secret, and it was brought to my attention that the other people keeping this secret spilled it, so now it is my turn to inform you." The gods and goddesses whisper among each other. How could innocent Persephone have a secret? "So, as you all know, my husband is Hades." A collective murmur is heard. "And, uh…" Mom shifts uncomfortably. "We have a daughter. Get over here, little goddess." I walk stiffly to Mom, who starts fussing over me.
"Mom, I'm 71,469. I can handle myself." I say calmly.
"But you'll always be my little baby."
"Yeah, that and a liar." I say half sarcastically.
"Cheer up, Hadassah."
"Sure." I say with a big fake smile. "I'm so cheerful! Yay!" I say sarcastically.
"My goddesses, what did your father do to you?" Mom asked, face palming.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe it rubbed off on me?" Hercules steps up to us.
"Hadie, is that you?" he says with a half smile.
"Oh, no. I couldn't possibly be Hadie." I say sarcastically. Hercules looks confused, so I continue. "Yes, it's me. Who else has this much sarcasm?" I ask.
"Your father, Meg… that's it."
"My ex-boyfriend, my half twin sister, Herkie." I add. Hercules nods. Dad walks in. "Hello, Dad." I say.
"Hello Hadie, Persephone." Dad greets.
"Why so solemn?" I ask.
"Because now I'm stuck mending two of my daughters' bonds and I have no clue how to." Dad practically growls.
"Huh?" I ask, confused.
A/N: I'M SORRY. I'M SORRY. I'M SORRY. Ha ha, just kidding. I like Hadie being the daughter of Hades and Persephone. I understand if this makes you sad because, honestly, rereading this makes me sad. Also, fellow Hardie shippers, oops. It's okay, everything works out(well, I hope so). And, Hersephone(Hades x Persephone) shippers, BE PREPARED FOR ADORABLE PARENTS. Seriously, I love Hades and Persephone's interactions almost as much as Hadie and Mal's, which is saying something. Have a great day, and remember to check for updates (cause now it's gettin' good).
