I walk into my bedroom. I sigh and pick out a dress. I teleport myself down next to Mal. I stand there next to her for a good ten seconds before she notices me.
"Hadie!" she exclaims, wrapping me in a hug. I hug her back.
"I have no idea what I signed up for, but I'm jumping in anyways." I say. Mal gives me a sympathetic look.
"You'll be fine. You're THE Hadie, also a goddess who lived in secrecy for thousands of years? You got this." Mal says.
"Thanks, Mal." I say. I turn, and I am met with a solid chest. "Sorry." I say, looking down and scurrying away. I look up, and see the most mesmerizing blue eyes(other than Harry's but I kinda ruined our chances so...). I see that this guy is wearing baby blue, and has dirty blonde hair. I smile.
"I'm Wyatt Darling, Wendy Darling's son."
"The name's Hadie, goddess of life and death, lady of the dead, princess of the underworld, daughter of Hades and Persephone. Hi, how ya doing?" I say, modifying my normal introduction to show more recent events. Wyatt smiles.
"Aren't you Mal's sister?"
"She's my twin sister. Well, half twin." I say.
"Cool. I have a little sister, her name is Willow."
"Nice. Mal is my little sister."
"Are you happy that she is going to be queen soon?"
"Yeah. I can do whatever I want. I couldn't do that before due to, uh, things." I say. Wyatt laughs.
"I know what happened, it's been all over the news. Ben's encouraging it, and Mal is discouraging it." Wyatt says. I glare in Ben's direction, then turn back to Wyatt. I start to form a plan in my head.
"Wyatt?" I ask. He turns to face me. "You know how Harry Hook hates you, right?" I ask.
"Yep. Just because I'm a Darling." Wyatt says with a sigh.
"Okay, I kind of hate him now, too."
"Didn't you used to date him?"
"Yeah, he broke up with me when the thing happened. Then, he had the audacity to try and flirt with me! I need your help showing that I no longer have feelings for him." I explain. Wyatt smiles.
"Let's do this, m'lady." I giggle, and take the arm he held out to me. We walk around for a bit, talking and laughing. I see Uma, in purple and black to represent her mom, watching us from the corner of my eye. I know she'll tell Harry every detail.
"Oh, hey, Hanna." Wyatt says, snapping me from my thoughts. I furrow my eyebrows.
"Hi, Wyatt." the girl flirts.
"Hanna, Hans' daughter, right?" I ask, breaking the silence. Hanna nods.
"Who might you be?" Hanna asks, taking me by surprise.
"This is-" Wyatt starts.
"Let me introduce myself." I interrupt, slightly annoyed. "The name's Hadie, goddess of life and death, lady of the dead, princess of the underworld, daughter of Hades and Persephone. Hi, how ya doing?" I hold out my hand for a handshake.
"Hadie?" Hanna asks.
"That's my name." I reply dryly.
"The used to be the most evil of all? The girl who paraded around telling everyone she's a goddess? The girl who dated Harry Hook?" Hanna asks. I scoff.
"Yep. That's me. Totally a horrible idea to date on the Isle, if you know what I mean." I say.
"Uh, yeah. Well, Wyatt asked me out on a date the other day, and I need to discuss it with him." Hanna says. I turn to Wyatt.
"WHAT?" I spit out, tugging my arm from his.
"Hadie, wait let me-"
"No. I'm done with guys. I'm done with mortals. I'M DONE." I say, storming off. I feel tears begin to collect in my eyes. "Ugh." I say, as I find the Enchanted Lake, and sit by the water. I look at my reflection. A tear falls into the water. I think of all the good times I had when who I really am was a secret. "I can't do this." I sob. I couldn't live like that anymore, and now I'm suffering the consequences. "I want to go back in time." I cry. Another tear falls. Then another and another. The tears flow out, and there's nothing I can do to stop them. "Why me? Why couldn't these things happen to someone else?" I ask, my voice breaking. I cry for a few minutes, letting myself feel sorry for myself. "I want my happily ever after." I sniffle a few times, then I hear Mal's voice.
"Hadie? Hadie? I saw what happened, I'm so sorry things like this keep happening to you. Please come out, Hadie. I'm going to help you. Hadie? Come on, Hadie, please." Mal begs.
"Mal?" I ask, wiping my tear-stained cheeks. I see her figure come into view.
"Oh, Hadie." Mal says, wrapping me in a hug.
"Hi, Mal." I say. I hug her back. "I'm okay. There's no need to worry, M." I say. Mal hugs me tighter.
"I don't trust you with yourself. I know when things get to your head, you tend to do something reckless, and regret it afterwards." Mal says, looking me dead in the eye.
"I know. I'm just done trying to get that 'happily ever after' that you and Ben have. I've tried so hard to get that, and it never works. I want to be happy, and I can't do that when I feel like a part of me is missing, you know. I want to be happy, but clearly that wasn't my fate." I say. I hear leaves rustle, and turn my head. "Who's there?" I growl, raising my hands into a fighting position.
"Hadie, maybe we should go to Olympus, yeah?" Mal says.
"Okay." I say, teleporting us up. I stumble a bit when I land. "Oof." I laugh, falling onto a cloud. I lay down on the cloud.
"Hadie, get up." Mal says.
"No." I say. Mal just drags me up. I stand, and we go to my room.
"Glad you're okay." Mal says.
"Hey, I just realized, I start at MIT in about a week." I say. Mal smiles.
"And my wedding is in about three weeks."
"We're always busy, huh?" Mal laughs.
"Yes, yes we are." We both smile. "I'm going to go down with the mortals." I snort, and roll my eyes.
"Those foolish mortals might rub off on you, and if they do, send me to send them to Dad." I say in a fake evil voice.
"Okay, I will. Bye, Hadie."
"Bye, Mal." I say. After she leaves, I flop down on my bed. I sit there, in a ballgown, for a good twenty minutes. "What did I do to deserve this." I ask, sighing. I hear a knock on my door. "Coming." I say, and get up. I walk all the way across the room, to the door. I open it. I see a flash of bright blue. "Evie?" I ask, dumbfounded.
"Yeah." Evie says. I give her a small smile.
"Whatever you're looking for, it's not here. Have a nice day." I say, closing the door. Evie puts her foot in the doorway, stopping the door from closing. I furrow my eyebrows.
"Actually, it is here." Evie says. I raise my eyebrows. "Listen, Hadie, Mal told me what happened, and I feel partially responsible. If I had tried to understand why these things happened instead of being blinded by anger, you probably wouldn't be in this position. I'm so sorry. You lived in secrecy, and we're all mad at you. If there's anything I can do, please let me know." Evie says. I smile.
"I really appreciate it, Evie. You're like a sister to me, of course I forgive you." I say, wrapping her in a hug. Evie hugs me back.
"Thanks, Hadie." Evie says.
"You're welcome." I say. "Go back among those mortals. I'll be here." I say. Evie laughs.
"Okay. I'll see you among the mortals." I laugh.
"I'll have to go back among the mortals now. Both you and Mal said the same thing."
"Please do."
"I will. Bye, Evie." I say.
"Bye, Hadie." Evie says. I close my door.
"Mortals." I say, shaking my head. I sigh, and climb into bed, ball gown and all.
THE NEXT DAY:
I get dressed to head down to the mortals. I teleport myself to Evie's castle. I walk across the lawn, and what I see makes my heart wrench.
A/N: CLIFFHANGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! What is maing Hadie's heart wrench? I am NOT going to tell you, you'll just have to stay tuned! Anyways, have a nice day.
