The days flew by, and soon, Mal and Ben had returned from their honeymoon. I had mastered being a queen in a few short days. I wait outside of their castle, waiting for them. I smooth out my skirt.
"They'll be so proud." Evie says with a smile. "You are a great Queen."
"Thanks, Evie." I respond.
"You're welcome." I watch as the purple and blue limo pulls up. I step forward, a smile on my face.
"Welcome back. Hope you had a great time, and that you are ready to step right back into your roles." I say. Mal gives me a look. "I'm done being queen. It's boring." Ben laughs.
"Thanks, Hadie." Ben says.
"Yes, thank you." Mal says.
"You're welcome." Mal and Ben go inside of their castle, and I go back to Olympus. Thank godesses it's a Saturday. I can change my clothes. I walk into my room.
I smile, and look at myself in the mirror. I spotted a picture of Harry with me on my nightstand. I sigh.
"I thought my heart had learned its lesson. No man is worth the aggravation. My head is screaming, 'get a grip girl! Unless you're dying to cry your heart out!'" I let out a dry chuckle. "That's ancient history, been there, done that." I sing.
"Who'd You think you're kidding? He's the Earth and Heaven to you," the Muses sing. I scowl.
"No chance, no way. I won't say it. No, no." I sing, shaking my finger no.
"Try to keep it hidden, honey, we can see right through you," the Muses sing. I glance back at the picture.
"It's too cliche, I won't say I'm in love." I sing, throwing my hands in the air.
"Oh, oh. Girl you can't deny it. No, no," the Muses sing. I roll my eyes.
"I won't say I'm in love.." I sing, running a frustrated hand through my hair.
"You swoon, you sigh. Why deny it, oh oh," the Muses sing. I scowl, again.
"You're way off base, I won't say it!" I sing. Harry pops up in my head, and I smile at the very thought of him.
"Check the grin, you're in love," the Muses sing. I turn my smile upside down.
"This scene won't play. I won't say I'm in love." I sing, picturing Harry helping me up after I fell.
"We'll do it until you admit you're in love," the Muses sing. I roll my eyes, but Harry pops in my head, again.
"Get off my case. I won't say it." I sing, getting mad, and my hair igniting.
"Girl, don't be proud. It's okay, you're in love." The muses sing. I think for a second, then flop down on my bed, holding the picture of me and Harry.
"O-o-oh. At least out loud, I won't say I'm in love." I sing, looking at the picture. "I'm not in love." I say, glaring at the picture.
"Then why did you sing a song, and have a picture of me on your nightstand?" Harry's voice asks. I jump.
"Don't scare me like that!" I exclaim, now glaring at Harry.
"Don't scare you?" Harry asks, a maniacal grin spreading across his face. "But that's my speciality." I roll my eyes.
"That's MY specialty, Hook." I counter.
"Oh, yes. I forgot, sorry Princess." Harry says, emphasizing the word, "princess." I let out a laugh.
"Yes, I'm the princess of the underworld." I say with a grin. Harry glares at me. I glare back.
"You win." Harry says, looking away.
"I always do." I reply.
"Except when you don't because you're in love with me." Harry shoots back.
"I don't do that 'love' thing." I counter.
"Really?"
"No, it's overrated." Sadness flashes through Harry's eyes. "I'm going to visit my parents." I say, leaving the room. I teleport myself to the Underworld. I hear Mom and Dad's voices.
"Hadie has been down lately, honey." Mom says.
"I know. She's been down ever since we told the truth." Dad says.
"Isn't that when Harry broke up with her?" Mom inquired.
"Yeah."
"Harry was really good for her. That was the happiest I've ever seen her." Mom says.
"She really was the happiest when they were together." Dad says. Mom nods. "At first, I didn't approve, but now I see how good they are for each other."
"Yeah." Mom says. "I really wish Hadie would just agree to going on a date with him. They're so good for each other. It makes me think of us."
"We have to set her up. She won't go." Dad says. Mom gives him a questioning look. "She said the first time she broke up with Harry, that she didn't want to go back because it broke her, and she knew it was better for both of them."
FLASHBACK:
I find Harry in a back alley, scavenging for food. I gulp, and take a step closer to him, the click-clack of my boots startling him.
"Hello, darling." Harry says. I give him a sad smile. "What's wrong?"
"IgotchosentogotoaschoolinAuradonandIhavetobreakupwithyousoIcangoandIdon'twanttogobutIknowit'sbetterforbothofus." I say in one breath.
"What?" Harry asks. I take a deep breath.
"I got chosen to go to a school in Auradon, and I don't want to go." I say slowly.
"You're being forced to, right?" Harry asks. I nod.
"And, uh…" I trail off, looking anywhere but Harry. "I have to break up with you because it'll be weird if we're together. I mean, you'll be here and I'll be in Auradon, and who knows how long it'll take for me to get back here. It's better for both of us." I say, confidence picking up.
"I understand. I'll always love you, Hadie." Harry says.
"I know you will." I say with a smile.
I go to walk away, when I hear Harry call out, "Can I get one last kiss?" I turn back around.
"Yeah." I respond. I ran up to him, and gave him a kiss goodbye.
"This isn't a goodbye, it's a see you later, okay?" Harry asks. I nod.
"I'll be in Bore-a-don if you need me." Harry laughs.
"Bye, Hadie."
"Bye, Harry." I walk away, heart heavy. I walk down to Dad's lair. "I broke up with him. Knowing Harry, he'll be with someone else by the time I get back. I don't care how much it breaks me." I say. Dad nods. "I'm gonna finish packing." I say, going to my room, and flopping down on my bed. A tear falls out of my eye, but I wipe it away and get up.
END FLASHBACK
I sigh heavily, and walk into the room. Dad and Mom turn to me.
"I can't decide whether or not to turn down Harry, and I don't want to leave him hanging on his own hook." I say.
"Just say yes, and go on one date. Then decide if you want to break up with him or not." Mom says.
"Yeah, do that." Dad says.
"Okay, I will." I teleport back up to Harry. "Hook boy!" I call, seeing his red coat disappear behind a building. I run to catch up with him. "Harry!" I call. I don't see him anywhere. I sigh. "Harry, please don't." Harry comes out of the shadows.
"Don't what?"
"Don't do that." I respond. We sit in silence for a few seconds.
"Why did you come and find me?" Harry asks.
"Yes." I respond. Harry looks at me quizzically before it dawns on him. His face breaks into a huge grin.
"Knew you couldn't stay away from me for long." Harry says. I roll my eyes. Harry claps twice, and a table with spaghetti appears.
"Did you just- is this for a date?" I ask, in wonder.
"Yeah." Harry responds. I laugh.
"This is so awesome." I say with a smile. We eat and laugh, my laughs are more stiff than his laughs.
"Hadie…" Harry starts.
"Yes?" I ask.
"Hadie, I love you." Harry says.
"I know." I reply.
"Hadie?" Harry asks.
"Yes, Harry." I respond.
"Don't you love me?" Harry asks.
"I-" I cut myself off. "I- I can't answer that."
"You said you loved me all those times!" Harry exclaims.
"Yeah, that was different!" I argue.
"How was it different, Hadie?"
"You didn't get ripped away from me twice then."
"What do you mean?" Harry asks. I take a deep breath.
"I broke up with you to come here, that broke my heart. When I saw you on the Isle that one time, it broke my heart to see you like that, but I didn't do or say anything. Then, it broke my heart when I had to pretend to not have my feelings for you. Then, you broke up with me, and my heart broke for the fourth time. Not to mention the two AKs I had a crush on and thought that they liked me, who also ended up breaking my heart." I explain.
"Hadie, you know I didn't mean to hurt you." Harry says.
"But you did." I say.
"But-"
"No Harry."
"Hadie-"
"Harry, you hurt me so many times-"
"Hadie, just say it!"
"I won't say it!"
"Hadie, just say you love me." Harry begs.
"No chance, no way. I won't say I'm in love."
"Hadie, please."
"No, no." I say.
"Hadie, just listen to me."
"Harry, I won't say I'm in love with you." I say.
"Hadie, I love you, and understand why you think the way you do. I'll give you time to think about it, okay?"
"Okay." I say. I teleport away. "I won't say I'm in love with you, Harry." I say when I get back to my room.
A/N: wow. Ummmmmmmmmmm... okay. I was eating my popcorn, but then I dropped the popcorn all... over the ground... In other words, things were getting good until (like normal) I messed things up. When will I learn? (Never) Hope you guys are having a great day so far! See you in the next chapter!
