Later that night, I'm sitting in my room, just chillin' like a villain, all by myself, in the underworld. Dad and Mom walk in.
"Sweetie-" Mom starts.
"No. It's better for both of us." I snarl. I slump down from my sitting position. "Ugh."
"Hadie," Dad speaks up. "I know you love him, and that this is eating you up inside. What is the real reason you turned him down?"
"He keeps breaking my heart." I reply simply. I get confused looks from both of my parents. "Every time I think I've got him, something happens to keep us apart. I can't do it anymore. I'm tired of chasing him down only for him to disappear again." I explain.
"Oh." Dad says.
"Since when did that stop others from pursuing their happiness? Cinderella kept her shoe for her prince, Mal overcame many obstacles for her happiness, I did everything in my power to protect you, and to be with your father for my happiness. Don't let your pride get in the way of something you really want." Mom says.
Mal's voice echoes through my head, "Don't let your pride get in the way of something you really want."
"I- I don't know what I want." I admit.
"That's okay. We'll continue this conversation in the morning." Mom says.
THE NEXT DAY:
I get up, and momentarily feel normal. Then, everything rushes back. I sigh, and leave my room. I get outside of my room, when I realize today Gil and Jay are leaving on their trip throughout all of Auradon. They decided to do Auradon first because they both realized they didn't know much about it. I teleport up to Evie's castle. I spot Gil and Jay loading up the car.
"Hadie!" Gil says.
"Hi, Gil." I say.
"I'm so excited! I'm going to be on Mount Olympus for a week, I can visit you!" Gil says. I nod.
"Yeah. I have to get going now. I'll see you on Olympus." I say.
"See you on Olympus." Gil echoes. I go to walk away, but Audrey comes out of nowhere, and gives Gil a kiss. I smile and walk away, for reals this time. I teleport up to Olympus.
"Hadie, you are going to spend the day with your grandmother!" Mom says when I get up there. I furrow my eyebrows.
"Why?"
"Because I said so." Mom says.
"But I don't want to." I argue.
"And I'm telling you to hang out with your grandmother."
"But, Mom-" I start.
"Hadie, just hang out with your grandmother." Mom says.
"Fine." I grumble. I walk over to Grandma. A smile on my face. "Hi, Grandmama." I say, forced laughter coming out. Mom glares at me from across the room.
"Hadie." Grandma says. I wave. "What are you doing?"
"Hanging out with my favorite grandma, duh." I say, sounding sarcastic. I get a look from both Mom and Grandma. "I didn't mean to sound sarcastic!"
"It's okay." Grandma says. I smile. The rest of the day flies by in a blur, and I have fun, I go to bed not feeling terrible for once!
THE NEXT DAY:
"What's the occasion?" Dad asks, stepping into my room.
"Fairy Godmother's sister, Nanny, the headmistress of MIT, emailed me and told me that she needed to talk to me. I don't know what I did, and I'm freaking out!" I explain.
"It's okay, Hadie. I'm sure- actually I was told, nothing will go wrong."
"Thanks, Dad. I know it's silly for me to be upset over this."
"It's not silly, Hadie." Dad says. "This is either very good or very bad." Mom walks in, and gives me a hug.
"Hadie, I was told I could come with you. You'll be fine." Mom says.
"But what if I'm not?" I ask.
"No, I'm telling you that you'll be fine." Mom says. I sigh.
"Whatever. Let's get this over with." I say, Mom teleporting us up. I walk into Nanny's office, and take a shaky breath.
"Oh, hello, Hadassah, Persephone." Nanny says. I smile.
"Hi." I say.
"Hello." Mom says. I sit down in one of three chairs in front of her desk.
"I know, you are probably wondering why you are both here today." I shift uncomfortably in my seat. "Hadassah, you did nothing wrong. We are here to discuss your powers." I let out a sigh of relief.
"Oh, thank godesses." I say.
"No, you are one of the best students MIT could've asked for." I nod, and smile. "So, Persephone, you are aware of her powers, correct?"
"Yes." Mom replies.
"And you are aware that her powers rival her father's powers, correct?" Nanny asks.
"No." Mom responds.
"Okay, so, Hadassah's powers could grow to rival most of your family's powers. Those years alone really let her powers grow strong." Mom nods.
"Yes, I figured that with her being a deity, or a goddess, her powers would- and could- eventually do that." Mom says. Nanny nods.
"Yes, you were correct. How about you get your husband in here and we can test her powers." Nanny says, treading carefully. "I need both parents' consent and for Hadassah to be okay with it." Mom nods.
"Okay. I agree." Mom says. "I think if we can measure her powers, we should."
"I think it's a good idea, too. I want to know what I can and can't do." I say, and Nanny nods. Mom calls Dad, and seconds later, Dad appears in the room. "Hi, Dad."
"So this is the all-powerful goddess Hadie?" Dad asks. I scowl.
"Not all-powerful. Just powerful." I say.
"I think it's a great idea." Dad says, looking at Nanny.
"Okay. Hadassah, there are going to be a series of tests that will be monitored by a special device that will tap into your brain cells and will monitor your powers through your hands." Nanny says.
"Okay. I'm ready." I say. The system gets hooked up, and my powers threaten to break out of my control.
