Luigi woke with a gasp and was breathing heavily as if waking up from a nightmare, sweat started to form around his brow. Once his breathing calmed he started to move, a shock of pain shot through his body, his hands and legs felt like rubber. Flashes of the events of last night suddenly flooded Luigi's mind as if he was watching them through different eyes, his expression was that of pure horror at the actions he was witnessing. Luigi's eyes widened when he saw what Mr. L had done with Daisy, his horror was replaced by shame by what Mr. L had done, then a thought came to Luigi's head, technically it was him or was it.
"Admiring my handiwork?" Said the voice, this time manifesting before Luigi. He was dressed all in black except for his gold buttons and a green hat with a backwards L.
"What have I done?" Said Luigi in Horror.
"You mean what I did and really you should be thanking me, because of me you were able to for once stand up for yourself, for once you were able to get somewhere with Daisy" Taunted the voice.
Luigi's head hung low.
"And this is just a taste of what is to come" Said Mr. L.
"No I won't let you, I will find a way to get rid of you " Said Luigi with weak conviction.
"As if you ever could, just remember this Luigi the more I come out, the less you become needed" Scoffed Mr.L.
"What do you mean?" Asked Luigi in an alarmed tone.
Mr. L just chuckled sadistically before dissipating into thin air.
Luigi suddenly noticed the house was silent; he would have thought his brother would have been home by now. Slowly Luigi walked down the stairs to the living room, Mario was nowhere to be found, not in the kitchen, not in the bathroom, not even in his room. The house was creepily silent, Luigi finally sighed in defeat believing Mario to still be at Peach's castle. The sun beamed that day, a hot spring day with a nice cool breeze to cool off in, it was Luigi's preferred temperature, hot but a nice breeze. The cool breeze blew against Luigi's face bringing him some comfort, as he approached the inner part of the kingdom he noticed a large crowd of people shouting and speaking in a panic. Luigi knew something was wrong, he ran to see what all the commotion was about. Just as Luigi was about to join the crowd when he noticed Mario, Peach, and...Daisy.
"Luigi, oh thank god bro you're alright" Said Mario as he ran up to Luigi and embraced him.
"Mario what the hell is going on?" Asked Luigi.
"Wario was found dead with his neck snapped like a toothpick" Explained Peach.
"And Waluigi was found not too far from where Wario was found with his face looking like something out of a horror movie" Explained Mario.
"The bastards deserved every last bit" Said Mr.L, almost escaping Luigi's lips.
"Mama Mia, do they have any idea who did it?" Asked Luigi, Mr.L laughing inside Luigi's head.
"We know don't we, Luigi" Snickered Mr.L inside Luigi's head.
"No, they were only recently discovered just hours ago" Answered Mario.
"I am putting together a special investigation consisting of Toad and seven others he deems suitable for helping him find the killer" Explained Princess Peach.
"Sure Peaches see how well that goes" Said Mr. L in Luigi's head.
Luigi noticed that Daisy wasn't looking at him, in fact she looked a little ashamed to look Luigi in the eyes. Unsure of how to feel, Luigi couldn't tell if he should be jealous that Mr. L did what he was too timid to do or be happy that one part of him was brave enough to act upon his desires. What was he thinking ? This wasn't right but than a frightening thought entered his mind, echoed by Mr. L inside his head. If it was so wrong what he had done as Mr. L then why did Daisy seem to enjoy every minute of it. While tormenting himself with his own thoughts Luigi caught Daisy looking at him, however as soon as he noticed her eyes darted away, Luigi looked down.
"She probably hates me, I should apologize" Luigi thought to himself.
As Luigi was about to make his way towards Daisy, he felt a sharp yank as if someone was pulling him back, only to see Mr. L manifest before him.
"Oh Weegee you're no fun, look at you and then look at Daisy, when I see her I see a woman who loves a good mystery, spoiling it now would only ruin any chance that we have with her. Not to mention I simply won't let you." Said Mr. L.
Luigi remained silent, worried about speaking to him in front of everyone.
"Oh don't worry, no one can hear us, this all in your twisted little psychologically damaged head, you can speak as freely as you want" Said Mr. L nonchalantly.
"First there is no we, as I said before I won't let you near Daisy, second what do you mean you won't let me?" Asked Luigi with some courage.
"Every since I was let out a little bit of me is now inside you, and I think we both know who's will is stronger" Mocked Mr. L
"What do you want from me?" Asked Luigi.
"For you to stop being a baby, Suck it up! Be a Man! You and I both know that those two bastards deserved what they got, only by accepting me can you accept your true self" Explained Mr. L.
"I'm not you, I'm a good man" Said Luigi defiantly.
"Boooooooring, just think back to that moment when you were knocked around by those two scumbags, that moment when you finally let me out. Don't you remember how sweet it felt, that moment of surrender to your darkest urges" Said Mr. L licking his lips and his eyes almost rolling back as if in demented ecstacy.
"I can take control from you L" Bluffed Luigi.
Mr.L let out an uncontrollable laugh as if Luigi had told the funniest joke he had ever heard.
"You can't even tell that Princess girlfriend of yours what you think you want to do to her because...you...can't" Said Mr.L playfully.
"Stop it!" Cried out Luigi pushing Mr. L away from him.
Mr. L only shot Luigi his famous smirk.
"Make me" Said Mr. L before dissipating into thin air.
"Listen Luigi I think it's best if we all stay at Peach's castle until the killer is caught" Said Mario snapping Luigi back to reality.
"Um yeah you're right bro" Said Luigi, however Mario noticed his brother was not his usual self.
"Is something wrong bro?" Asked Mario.
"It's nothing Mario I just need to see somebody first I'll be back soon" Said Luigi before departing from the crowd.
"That senile old man won't save you from me" Said Mr. L ominously.
Mario wanted to say something but Luigi was out of reach before he could, the red clad plumber could only watch in confusion and concern as his brother departed, Mario wasn't the only one, Daisy with a concerned expression clear on her face had heard everything Mario had said to his brother, she didn't know whether Mario and Luigi staying at Peach's castle along with herself was a good idea. She had wanted to speak to Luigi about the other night but her pride and somewhat shame kept her from speaking to her green plumber.
"Something wrong Daisy?" Asked Peach.
Daisy turned a little red in the face towards her longtime friend.
"Peach has Mario ever acted one way and then completely changed?" Asked Daisy.
"Daisy you're not making any sense, but I can tell this is about Luigi isn't it?" Said Peach with some subtle slyness with a hint of concern.
"It's just when he escorted me back to the hotel I tried to get physical with him, he walked out, but then hours later he reappeared only it wasn't him he had completely changed he was charming, suave and more than willing to be intimate, the way he acted...that wasn't Luigi" Explained Daisy for the first time showing a side Peach had never seen of the Sarasaland Princess.
"Who else could it be Daisy, you and I both know how Luigi feels about you, maybe sometimes he just needs a little time to build his confidence up" Said Peach trying to rationalize what Daisy had told her.
"No that's not it at all what I'm talking about it's as if he was a different person altogether, all that was Luigi was not there, the worst part is...I liked it" Confessed Daisy.
Peach was perplexed by what her brunette friend had confessed to her. All her life Peach had known Daisy to be a strong willed and not at all helpless woman, the fact that Luigi or someone else was making headstrong and charmingly Tomboyish Princess Daisy swoon like a schoolgirl.
"Don't worry Daisy, that won't happen with you staying at my castle, just say the word and security will guard your room night and day" Said Princess Peach concerned for her friend.
Daisy cracked a short smile.
"Thank you Peach, you truly are my best friend" Said Daisy as the two friends embraced before making their way to Peach's castle.
While he made his way through the downtown portion of the Mushroom kingdom, Luigi was lost in thought, there was only one person who knew how to deal with his problem. Luigi turned his head to the right and found what he was looking for, a small staircase leading down to the backdoor of a brickhouse, Luigi looked around to see if anyone would notice, thankfully no one did as he descended down the staircase and was met b a dark brown heavily locked door. The green plumber gave three sharp knocks on the door, moments afterwards Luigi could hear the various locks being unlocked before the door opened revealing a short elderly man with thick round glasses and snow white hair that stood up giving the impression of a mad scientist...which he was.
"Luigi, my old friend, how are you?" The elderly man.
"Professor E. Gad, it's been too long" said Luigi as he embraced the professor.
"Well c'mon come in welcome welcome" Said Professor E Gadd.
Luigi followed Professor into his house, typically Luigi was not surprised to find Professor E Gadd's basement looked something out of Frankenstein's laboratory, the green plumber raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but crack a little smirk at a joke he formed in his head. They both made their way to the middle of the laboratory and the two sat down on high stools making Professor E Gadd look dwarfish, With a final grunt Professor E Gadd finally found comfort in his seat.
"So my friend, what can I do for you?" Asked Professor E Gadd.
"He's back" Said Luigi in a serious tone.
Professor E Gadd's face turned white as a ghost, Luigi could only look down and nod.
"Oh no, you were almost consumed by him completely in your mansion last time, so the green thunder has returned" Said Professor E Gadd while rubbing his temples in frustration.
"Yes, that is why I came to you first, no one else knows yet, I need your help my old friend" Said Luigi almost begging.
Professor E Gadd got up from his chair and sighed before walking over to a shelf and shuffled around the various glass beakers, Luigi grew nervous as he could hear Professor E Gadd mutter around in frustration before abandoning his search and returned to where he and Luigi were sitting.
"I am sorry Luigi but it seems I don't have the chemical component to concoct the antidote, I'll have to order them from the neighboring kingdoms, in the meantime all I can give you is this" Said Professor E Gadd as he handed Luigi a small vial of red liquid.
"What's this?" Asked Luigi as he took the vial in his hands.
"It's something new I've been working on, it's supposed to treat anxiety, as I recall Mr. L only came about because of your anxiety, this is supposed to dull the senses and give you a feeling of euphoria" Explained Professor E Gadd.
"So you're giving me drugs?" Said Luigi flatly.
"If you want to be technical about it...yes, however I must warn you Luigi this will not rid you of Mr. L it will only keep him at bay, this is only a temporary solution until I can get the chemical's necessary for an antidote" Explained Professor E Gadd.
"How long will it be before they will be able to get here?" Asked Luigi sounding desperate.
Professor E Gadd rubbed his temples again.
"Two weeks, maybe one if we're lucky" Said Professor E Gadd disspointly.
"Two weeks?! What if it's too late by then" Said an alarmed Luigi.
"Believe me Luigi getting those chemicals will be my number one priority" Said Professor E Gadd trying to calm Luigi.
"Just remember to take that swig of that vial before you go to sleep and it should keep Mr. L away until I can get the chemicals" Said Professor E Gadd.
Luigi sighed as he finally calmed himself and placed his hand on Professor E Gadd's shoulder to show he did trust him.
"Let me know as soon as those chemicals get in here, I need to be rid of this monster within me" Said Luigi before heading for the door.
"Stay strong Luigi" Said Professor E Gadd before Luigi shut the door behind him.
"You think that old man can stop me, just you wait Weegee, I've got more fun planned for us tonight, just you wait" Said Mr. L striking fear in Luigi's heart.
