Harry places a hand on my arm. I shrug him off.
"Hadie…" he tries.
"It's nothing." Truth be told, I was really upset that Celia had been rude to me. Me, who had saved her, who had made sure she was always okay. Dizzy is the only one who believes me, the twins don't talk, and Quelle holds onto her anger until she explodes. "That's it!" I exclaim.
"What's it?" Harry asks.
"I have to get Quelle to explode. And trust me, I know just how to push people's buttons." I stayed for dinner, making sure to sit next to Quelle and repeatedly bump her. I could see the anger forming in her eyes.
"Darling?" Harry asks me, setting his fork down. "Don't you think it's a bit much?"
"Nothing is much, Harry. I've got this." I reassure him for the millionth time. I bump Queele again. We finish dinner, and Quelle is practically steaming. I give an amused smile to Harry.
"How 'bout we have dessert?" Evie suggests.
"NO!" Quelle screams. "I'm tired!" I giggle under my breath, but Quelle catches my eye. "YOU! YOU DID THIS!"
"With very wicked intentions, of course." I reply, curtsying. Quelle's anger exceeds her.
"HOW COULD YOU?! YOU LIE THEN DO THIS? I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU!" There it was. That's what I needed her to say.
"Oh, Quelle. You're naive, little red. I needed this to happen so you'd forgive me. Never trust an angel with devil horns." Quelle's anger subdues, and shock and confusion replace it. "Do you think I could handle the VK I had brought to Auradon with me being that mad at me?"
"No." I only saw a small, broken child from a not very good home. I didn't see the villain. I saw the girl.
"Exactly, little red. I had this planned. My heart aches and odd desires decided I couldn't bear the thought of you being mad at me."
"I thought I was your heart aches and desires." Harry states, though it sounded more like a question.
"I have lots of those, Hook boy." I point out.
"But, my love-"
"Harry, this is already complicated. Don't."
"I have never seen two people more in love." Uma pipes up from the corner. I glare at her. Harry and Evie share a knowing glance.
"If you don't be quiet, Uma, I'll kill you." Uma gives me a look. "Let me reintroduce myself to you, yeah?" Uma gives me a what-did-I-do-that-led-me-here look. "The name's Hadie, goddess of life and death, lady of the dead, princess of the underworld, daughter of Hades and Persephone. Hi, how ya doin'?"
"Oh! Your goddess powers can kill me?"
"Correct." Uma pouts silently, and I turn back to Quelle, who is now looking at me as if I grew two heads. "What?" I ask.
"Are you a goddess?" Quelle asks.
"Yes, I am." Quelle looks taken aback for a second before putting on her cold front, again. "Stop putting on the cold front. The look doesn't suit you." I add coldly. Harry's mouth drops open in pure awe.
"I love you so much." Harry whispers. "Gods, you're so amazing. What did I do to get so lucky?"
"The real question is, why did I get so lucky with you?" I reply, not looking at him. I feel Harry squeeze my shoulders.
"You're absolutely perfect."
"No, you are."
"You."
"Nope, you."
"You, my dear, are perfect."
"Not even close. I'm rotten to the core. Still." At this, I get a few chuckles from my friends. "Anyways, Quelle, Celia, I have more important matters at hand than dealing with two girls who know I'm right. The souls need me." I go to turn away.
"Wait-" a small, squeaky voice says. "I forgive you." I turn around to see Squeaky standing there. Harry stares in awe at his godson.
"The first words we have ever heard were those? I have the feeling you're going to do great things in your life." I say. Squeaky beams.
"I forgive you, too!" Squirmy says.
"C'mere you two." I say, giving them a big hug. "I'm going to go right now, but trust me, I'll be back so I can use the TV." I assure them.
"See you, Hadie!" Squirmy says with a grin.
"Yeah, Mrs. Hook." Squeaky says, grinning almost as large as Squirmy.
THE NEXT Day:
I sit down in the underworld, unsure why my parents are acting strange. They both use the elevator and walk- no, waltz- into the room. They take a seat across from me, and share a glance.
"What do you want?" I ask, annoyed.
"Well…" Mom starts, beaming.
"We saw that you-" Dad starts, but is cut off by Mom.
"- told Evie about her father. We are very proud of you. That must've been so hard." I scowl.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Of course you do-"
"No, Mom. I don't. I don't even know who her Dad is."
"We were there. We saw you!"
"It was a realistic dream." I say, surprising myself. Mom nods, and I see the realization in her eyes.
"Sorry, Hadie." Mom apologises.
'It's okay." I look up to the ceiling. "Something is off up there. Can you feel it?" I ask. I see Dad shift and Mom furrow her eyebrows.
"Yeah. We should check it out." Mom says.
"I have a full time job!" Dad complains. "And what if someone died? I'll be the first to know, and can alert you guys."
"Okay." Mom says quietly. She turns to face me. "Let's get into a disguise." I change my hair from a bright, eccentric blue to a deep brown. I change my nose and face shape, and give myself worse eyebrows. My eyebrows were fabulous. Mom changes from a blonde to an evil looking, black haired villain. She changes her eyes to a piercing gray.
"Outfit change?" I ask. Mom nods. I pick out a new outfit for my disguise. Mom wears a stunning, peach colored dress, while I dress in pink. Ew.
"Perfect." she says and we teleport to Auradon. I immediately spot Harry. His usually bright, and alive eyes look cold and lifeless. We lock eyes, and I look away, unable to look into them.
"I feel like I know you." Harry said to me. My heart fills with hope.
He's okay. He's okay. He's okay, I think to myself.
"I don't remember anything. I know I'm 17, going on 18, but nothing else."
He's not okay. He's not okay. He's not okay.
"I don't know who I am, do you?"
He's not okay. I lost myself without him. He's not okay, not even close. I wish you were, Harry. He's not okay. I love you. He's not okay.
