Three weeks later, The Tempest, At Warp, Approaching the St. John's System
Damian Romero walked through the narrow bulkheads and hallways of the Tempest as it traveled through the warp on route to the Saint John's system. The hull of the ship groaned and creaked as if it was under some kind of physical strain while the occasional light flickered on and off ominously. Damian knew that the noises and the flickering lights were not the result of some kind of physical strain on the ships' hill, or a mechanical issue, but were rather just part of the normal odd things that happened at warp. Yet despite the danger all around, Damian felt an odd sense of peace while at warp. This is life on the edge, he thought, as he meandered into the ship's humble rec room and poured himself a glass of make shift whiskey.
"You wouldn't have it any other way," Kevon piped in as he entered the room from another corridor, quickly pouring himself his own drink of whiskey.
Damian smirked slightly. "You reading my thoughts again Kevon?"
Kevon shrugged. "You like whiskey, don't need to be psychic to figure that out."
Damian nodded and raised his glass before kicking back a tall swig of the strong alcoholic drink.
"Well, even if you haven't turned into a rogue psycher yet, you better have a look at the geller field generator. I feel like they're running a little weak, might need a refit when we get to port."
Kevon nodded, "Probably due for a refit, along with about every other major system on this ship. But that shouldn't be a problem once we make the next deal right?"
Damian took another swig and smiled, "Aye... but that's assuming I don't cash my chips in and retire to some Hive World spire with a title of nobility, and sell this bucket of bolts to the scrapper."
Kevon shook his head. "I swear by the Golden Throne, you say that every run we go on. I know that ain't going to happen."
Damian shook his head with a grin. "And once again Kevon, you're showing your true cards as a rogue psyker. Keep it up and I may have to report yah to the next Priest I see."
Damian put his drink down and got up. "We're almost there. Get ready to drop out of warp. It's time to pay the governor another visit..."
