'Well, it's now or never, I guess.' Chase remembered her words as he stared down. The beautiful pup was laying down on a cardboard bed painted and crafted to look real, but not nearly as comfortable. The Cockapoo laid there, pretending to be in that forever rest that has become popular to the film.

'Well, it's now or never, I guess.' He stared at those lips that belong to the 'princess'. They looked so soft. So warm. So right. He slowly lowered his head down to her face. He was so close, he could feel her warm breath tickle his muzzle.

'Well, it's now or never, I guess.' He was so close. He has never had his face so close to anyone. His lips were just centimeters way from hers. It was a beautiful moment; a moment he couldn't wait to achieve. For a moment, he forgot it was a play.

It's now or never. Their lips connected.

"Gweat job, Dudes!" Zuma complemented everyone. He then turned to Chase and Skye. "Especially you two. Glad to see you kept your word."

Chase awkwardly nodded his head, still trying to get over what just happened. Nothing different could be said about Skye either. She too had mixed feelings about the kiss. She was thrilled she finally got to kiss Chase, but it was only supposed to be a stage kiss. No meaning behind it. That, and it was in front of an entire town. Not the ideal first kiss someone would think of having. Chase felt exactly the same.

The former cast got wrapped up into a conversation and started walking towards Mr. Porter's cafe since they all agree before the show to celebrate there. Chase and Skye were the only ones not walking. They just stood still. They wanted to talk to each other, but found it difficult to speak. God, why is it so hard now?

The tension in the air was suffocating, and neither of them knew why. They wanted so hard to just break the ice. They wanted it to be like normal.

"Chase-"

"Listen-"

They both spoke at the same time. The looked at each other and cracked a small smile. Chase continued.

"Listen, Skye. I didn't mean to cause this much tension between us. There was just so much pressure being pushed on me that I just acted in the heat of the moment."

Skye smiled, "I was the first one to say yes to the kiss. If anything, I should be the one apologizing."

Chase softly laughed. "No need, Skye. It was just this stupid play's fault."

"Aye, no! I'm blaming the pups back there." They shared a small laugh.

"Yeah, now that I think of it. It was pretty suspicious how quickly they all chose their roles. Then again, they could have just been avoiding the Philip and Aurora roles because they didn't want to have to kiss anybody." Chase commented.

Skye laughed, "Yeah, that's understandable. Also, good job on making that dragon fight look so realistic."

Chase picked up on Skye's sarcasm on the last sentence and rolled his eyes. "It's not like the movie did any better." He laughed.

Skye joined in and they just laughed. They didn't know why. Nothing very funny was said, it just felt right. Skye leaned herself up against Chase and gave him a little nuzzle like she did on Friendship day.

Chase stopped laughing and looked down at her in shock. Skye immediately stopped and looked up at Chase, in fear she did something wrong. Though that changed when she saw just a bit of an off color on the Shepherd's cheeks.

"You're blushing?" She asked in disbelief, though it was more of a whisper.

"W-what?" Chase asked, suddenly terrified.

Skye laughed "You're blushing!" She teased.

"Wha-No I'm not!" Chase tried to defend himself. Alas, it was to no avail. Especially since the blush was getting deeper.

"Yes you are!" Skye laughed again. She then pointed to his face, "It's right there!"

"Says the girl who blushed when I kissed her." Yes, he had a comeback.

Skye's face flushed. Did she really blush? "Did I?"

"Yup" Chase wore a smug grin.

Skye just stared at Chase. Now that's just embarrassing. Her tease seriously backfired bad on her.

Chase's smirk soften into a gentle smile. With new found confidence, Chase confessed. "Skye, there's something I should tell you, and I think now it the best time to do so. I really like you, as in I want to be in a relationship with you. You are so sweet and kind, beautifully optimistic and joyful too. Not to mention gorgeous too. I really hope that this won't effect our friendship if you don't feel the same way."

Skye was freaking out on the inside. Chase, liked her?! This was the best day of her life! She somehow calmed herself down and smiled at him. "Chase, I really like you too."

"Really?" Chase tried to hold his excitement, but his vigorously waging tail betrayed him.

Skye nodded and gleefully watched the German Shepherd fail to contain his joy and hop around like a caffeinated bunny while shouting "yes" as if he just won the lottery. Only stopping when he realized how he was acting and stopped from embarrassment. Unfortunately for him, Skye couldn't stop laughing at the adorable scene.

Skye eventually quit laughing and stared up into Chase's eyes. Chase, embarrassment quickly forgotten, couldn't help but do the same and walk up to her. There, they stood and didn't break eye contact. Chase slowly began to lower his head while Skye brought her's up higher. They both had a destination in mind, and knew the other wanted the same. Muzzles mere centimeters apart. Then, they finally—

"Hey guys!"

Both Chase and Skye jumped and whipped their heads around to face the sudden intruder of their moment. It was Rubble.

"What are you guys doing? We've been waiting on you. Come one!" And he ran towards Mr. Porter's again. The new couple just laughed.

"Alright, we're coming." Chase called back. He and Skye took a quick glance at each other before laughing and running after Rubble.

The end

A/N:as you can tell, I am seriously socially awkward and I tried to make the conversation between Chase and Skye as natural as possible but failed
