It was still 4 PM when Kazuha and Heiji left the agency and headed to their hotel. It needed another half an hour for both of them to get a room each with one bed for only one person. They came all the way from Osaka in a mission. A very important mission from both of their parents. The two of them didn't come with luggages nor bags except Kazuha's hand bag and Heiji's hat. They didn't even choose to come and search for this Takami guy that they needed to find no matter what it takes. A Woman that was from the reception welcomed them the second she saw them. She was informed about two teenagers coming to spend a while in their hotel. Heizo was the one that made the reservation over the phone. He also informed the receptionist that their luggage would arrive after an hour. ''Welcome Mr. Hattori and Mrs. Toyama.'' She cheerfully said. The two of them greeted her as well thanking her for such a good hospitality. She gave them their keys and guided them before informing them that their stuff would arrive shortly after, before leaving them. Kazuha looked at her key and seemed deep in her thoughts. Heiji was going to go inside his room immediately if he didn't see the girl's expression. Something inside him obliged him to stay. ''What's wrong Kazuha?'' The girl was shaken by his question. She gave him one of her easy smiles, shaking her head. ''I'm fine. But the flight was quite tiring, I'll go and take a nap till our things get here.'' She answered in such a rush and used her key to open the door. Her hands were shaking and trembling as she tried to enter the key in its hole. She couldn't meet him in the eyes after everything that happened. In the end, she still though that it was truly her fault that they were stuck there to find Takami. If I was just more careful and cautious about Mom's old stuff. Kazuha entered her room and closed the door behind her as soon as she entered. She was trembling. All of her body and mind were. She put the weight of her body on the door leaning with her back on it, before feeling her knees betraying her. She looked down with closed eyes, trying to prevent the tears from forming. She was always the only one bringing a trouble after another to Heiji's doorway. She tried her best not to sob as she held her breaths. It was her only moment of weakness that day. She wiped her tears and stood up bravely, yet still with sadness in her eyes. She needed to take care of this mess quickly. She went to the bathroom connected to her room, washed her face and let her hair down. She really needed that nap.

Moments earlier, Heiji was only watching Kazuha as she tried to enter her room. He knew when Kazuha wanted to be alone. It was just like one of these moments for example. He didn't like the way she clearly lied at him. She wasn't even good at it when she tried to lie at him. He didn't know what was the thing that made her this down. Heiji entered his room too, and threw lightly his body on the bed. He was looking at the ceiling still not able to forget the sad face that his childhood friend had. Kazuha.... She was his last thoughts before he closed his eyes as sleep came haunting him.

Less than an hour later, Kazuha's phone was ringing like crazy and she knew that ringtone any second of any minute of any day. It was her alarm. Her eyes twisted a sign of being disturbed from her pretty dream that she was having. She suceessfully found her phone after 5 slams on her nightstand. It was 5:30 PM. She processed the information in her mind as she saw the numbers on her wallpaper. She got up and went downstairs to the reception knowing that her stuff must have been here by now. She found Heiji and the luggage with a bag on his shoulder. The luggage was hers, and the bag his. ''Kazuha! You came, that was fast even for you after sending a message.'' Kazuha was confused at his words. A message? However, her question was answered as she heard her phone being notified about a new message. ''It looks like I'm faster than network here.'' She commented mainly to herself. Heiji looked at her with interest. Her hair was down and it was rare of her not to put it in her usual signature hairstyle. ''Kazuha, let's go sightseeing in Tokyo.'' It was a suggestion out of the blue from the dark-skinned boy. Kazuha was surprised at first. But, her answer only worried him more about her. ''You go and have fun Heiji. I'll have a shower and rest and read my book for tonight.'' She took her luggage, thanked him and was ready to turn around and walk away, if she wasn't stopped by no one other than him. ''By reading, are you reading that damn book?'' He was clearly annoyed at her behavior. She turned and chuckled at his silly way of addressing the book in public. She nodded. Both of them knew about what book they were talking about. Heiji was a bit bothered with the fact that Kazuha just refused sightseeing with him. She used to always be the one offering the invitation to him and her getting rejected by him because of a sudden case that came out of nowhere. The roles, this time, got reversed. He walked behind her deciding to go his room too to put his bag. He entered the elevator and clicked on the bottom of their floor. The second the door of the elevator closed, Heiji advised. ''Kazuha, stop reading that book too much. Take it easy for today. Come on, you always wanted to come to Tokyo even for once. This is your chance to see the city.'' The girl clenched her fists. She couldn't do what he told her to do. ''Heiji, I don't have time to have fun. I need to learn from Mom's book as much as I can. I have to be prepared for any situation we might face, I really need to get stronger. You know the risks of failing, don't you?'' At her last words, softness took over her. She couldn't be mad at him for something that was actually because of her. ''Don't worry, we will find your mother's amulet. Even if it takes my life to do.'' He laughed at his own promise as he wanted to make her lighten up. But, he was damn wrong. ''Don't say that EVER again, Heiji!'' She was mad at him. ''It was just a joke, Kazuha, a joke!'' She crossed her arms and turned her head to the other direction not facing him. Great he was now going to have the silent treatment from her. She hated his sick jokes alot. Or when he puts himself in a lot of danger for something that could never be as much worth as his own life. ''So, does that mean that my life is much important than the sake of this world?'' The girl's cheeks were red and she turned facing him. ''You're out of your mind, Heiji. I never said that!'' Kazuha felt weak again. She could swear her heart stopped for a good couple of seconds. ''So you don't care, if I die?'' The girl's blood ran cold again because of his question. This time, she wasn't joking around. She slapped him quite hard that left him shocked. ''How does that feel?'' Hurt was in her tone. The slap left a small red spot. The boy didn't answer as she continued. ''I won't feel the same you feel, that's for sure.'' At that second the door was opened and she got out leaving him behind without any second thoughts. He messed it up and he knew that. However, there was something other than pain, he felt at that moment. Just a small fuzzy feeling of relief. He knew how bad it was to leave Kazuha on her own under this much pressure. He could have refused coming with her to Tokyo saying it wasn't his fault that Kazuha let her mother's amulet get stolen. But, he couldn't just leave her to face the consequences on her own. In the end, the consequences concerned every human on the planet. Heiji walked out of the elevator not to lose her from his sight. He was always like that. Just a step behind her and he hated it. He wanted to protect her with him being by her side. He never thought that he would be the one that would hurt her and make her life endangered 3 years ago. It all started clearing from then. But, still it all happened too fast for him to remember. The only image he couldn't erase from his memory was how Kazuha was on the ground, with her arm that was bleeding and a messy hair. Her expression haunted him for the next four nights. She was almost begging him for mercy, for her life to be spared. It hurt him too, okay! He felt an unbearable guilt eating his heart after that incident. He was afraid if it would happen again. What if the next time he really kills her? He saw as she entered her room and sent him a look that he knew what it was for. She was sorry, she slapped him. He nodded and then he also entered his room.

True to her word, Kazuha took a shower and felt a lot better than before, after getting tired from reading her book for 2 hours straight. She also made a research on her laptop that her mother put along on top of her clothes. Her mother was the best, that was for sure. She tried to search about species that was other than humans. Of course, there was nothing, except stupid vampires and werewolves for teenagers' fantasy. She then, tried to look for best places in Tokyo, for criminals that were running away from law. And let's say that she found plenty.

Kazuha felt the need to get out of her room. It was when she saw the time on her phone. It was 8PM. As she saw the time, she felt a huge hunger crawling in her stomach. She didn't know if Heiji ate dinner or not. If he did, then she will be alone eating. She heard a knock on her door and she went and opened it. It was Heiji, changed in other clothes, still had his hat on, with a damn grin on his face. ''Come on, Kazuha. Aren't you hungry? Because, I'm starving.'' A smile curved on her lips. She was happy, he came to get her to go and eat dinner together. ''I'm hungry too, I feel like I won't be able to walk if I don't eat right now.'' He grabbed her hand and walked towards the elevator to go downstairs leading her. She was a bit shy at his touch. She was lucky that she was already dressed well and ready to go out. She tried her best not to let a blush be visible on her cheeks as his body was too close to her almost touching her inside the elevator because it was too crowded. She was looking at a corner, with still his hand in hers and their scents mixed together. He put his free arm on her shoulder bringing her closer to him as to prevent the man behind her from pushing her with his shoulder. The girl was silent and embarrassed. The boy was also silent not thinking that there was any need of words. Both of them left the hotel and went to eat dinner in a Ramen restaurant. They had quite some fun outside and Kazuha didn't know how much she really needed his company. Heiji was satisfied enough for now. After the dinner, Heiji led her somewhere he knew she would love. ''Heiji, Where are you going? Aho, at this rate we will get lost!'' She was fed up with him always telling her to wait with no proper answer. ''You're the Aho, Aho! There's no way I'll get us lost. Just have more patience.'' Kazuha was offended to be told by him to be patient. ''Talk about the one who's not patient between us.'' She meant him of course. Heiji ignored her and his face lit up as he saw the familiar place he was looking for. ''We're here!'' He announced as he stopped. He looked at Kazuha's reaction. Her eyes were wide-open, speechless thanks to the beauty of the city lights at night. ''They're pretty!'' Her expression could be compared to a little girl's who just got her wish fulfilled from Santa.Other couples were also there, watching the city lights. Kazuha had her hands entretwined together at how enchanted she was thanks to Heiji's choice of place. She didn't notice how he looked at her. Heiji didn't even notice himself having his full attention and focus only on her. She was like his magnet. He just wished for this mission to finish as soon as possible so that he could finally tell her. However, he wasn't prepared for his favorite moment to be interrupted in the worst possible way.

''He's here. It's here...'' Murmured Kazuha these words in confusion and shock. She didn't even understand what she was saying herself. Heiji noticed her sudden behavior. ''What's wrong? who's here?'' He had a guess. But, he didn't understand how she was so sure about it. The girl faced him, and looked at him with eyes that were asking for help. They were shining with fear yet with hope. ''Mom's amulet, it's here. I can feel it.'' Kazuha knew her words might seem absurd to Heiji. He might not even believe her, saying she was hallucinating or exhausted. ''How do you know?'' His question made her feel more sure. But her answer wasn't convincing that much.''

''I don't know. I just know. I...Do you get it?'' At first she didn't know how to explain and she hoped that he understood with such a great explanation from her. Heiji made a face of Okaaaaaaaaaay, that's too weird.

''I actually don't because you still suck at explaining things.'' Sarcasm was the only way he had to respond to such a stupid question under such serious circumstances. Kazuha pouted but she said again after a second. ''It's getting farther. We have to do something!'' Heiji knew he had to give it a try, seeing they may not be able to have such a golden opportunity like this one. However, it was still a bit dangerous, especially at night. Who knew what could happen if they get separated and found out?
