"California. Tai is taking me."
"California! What are you doing there?" Cream asks then her eyes lower. "Probably getting married."

"We are married!" Cream smiles and I laugh with her as I hold my new work wife.
"What about me…" Knuckles frowns at the both of us and I cock my eyebrow.

"Ah… she works a lot. I don't know if she even wants to talk to me." Knuckles keeps his eyes away from mine and I smile.

"You said that about Tai and I don't know. He is so quiet." Knuckles says and I laugh. "By the way. I still think about how you told me and Cream about you and Sonic's relationship."

"And suspicious. He was just standing there when he came here to tour the building. Not really speaking much."

"True. I thought he was trying to poison me though, but it was really good."
"Yeah, but I can understand your concern… Rouge has been telling me the same thing that I move on too fast but I don't know. Tai makes me happy. "I know he probably is a good guy…"

"I am. Sonic told me to watch over everyone while I am gone and when I walked into his office to see you standing on a stack of books to clean a window! That's when I started to keep a good eye on you." Knuckles says and I laugh.
"I do that all the time."
"And you shouldn't." Knuckles says and then he opens the door for us and we walk in. looking around at his office, making sure its tidy and clean.
"I can't believe it's been a month since he has been gone." Cream says and I smile.
"Me too. I haven't heard much about the divorce or Jules but I hope everything is alright. I was expecting him to tell his staff about what is going on but it was a great decision. He hired about seven people so not letting them know why he was leaving would look bad so the most he could say was that he was getting divorced." I say and lean on the door.
"I'm personally happy he got divorced. Before you came here, Sonic was stressed. Everyday about that but now since she is out of the picture then he can have some time to himself and get the old Sonic back." Knuckles says and Cream agrees.
"Yeah… he was so energetic when we were younger and to see his personality dry out was painful. I think we were losing ourselves too for letting Sonic go through that for so long… it feels like I should apologize."
We all stand in silence but then I laugh and turn to them.
"Let's not let the past hold us back. I think we should move on. Not even bring up the divorce until he does. I'm sure Sonic is nervous about appearing too and he might think I am mad at him for leaving so long. Which I am not. I really want Sonic to be happy. On his own. We do." I say and then my eye twitches.
"He better be happy or I will kill him." I say and Cream laughs.
"Haha! You can't say that! You just got done saying that nice speech then you are going back and saying you are going to kill him?" Cream says and opens the door for us and we walk out but I prop the doors open.
"Yes. I meant what I said." I smile to myself and Cream continues to giggle.
"I think Amy is in the right mindset but any who, I'm going to get started working. Uh? When is he showing up? Work has already started." Knuckles says and I look at the time and see that its thirty minutes late.
"I'll call him." Cream says and I follow her to her desk while Knuckles walks to the other employers who were working.
Cream sits on her desk and then she spins around and once he answered she paused.
"Hey!" Cream yells and I watch her listen.
"What- OH I MISS YOU TOO! IT" S BEEN SO LONG!" Cream exclaims and she listens carefully.
"Well- no, she isn't mad…yet." Cream turns and smiles at me and I laugh. "You said you are coming? When- Huh? Jules did what?"
I walk closer and Cream jaw drops. "He… He baked a cake and huh?"
"What?" I say out loud and Cream stays on the phone with Sonic trying to understand the situation but then she nods her head.
"Okay… Be safe on your way here?" Cream says and then she hangs up and looks at me.
"I think Jules baked a cake at school and ate it all to himself?"
"What! Haha! There is no way! Jules is so small; how would he be able to eat that?" I ask and Cream laughs and shrugs her shoulders.
"I am not sure but Sonic went to a bakery to buy a cake for the class and then also take Jules home but he said he was going to be here in a few." Cream says.
"Cool… I'm not really sure what to do until then." I say and Cream logins in into her computer.
"Well, I have to make some calls to a few of our co-partnerships so maybe go… talk to Tai?" Cream says and I laugh.
"I try not to be on my phone at work."
"Smart girl! Just go look pretty and wait for him in his office." Cream says and she gets on a call while I walk away.
I go into his office and I look around the room. I open the curtains to get some sunlight in here and I also spray a plant I added to his office as well.
I had already cleaned so now I was waiting for him to appear.
I walk towards his desk and open a drawer. There was nothing in most of them because I had cleaned it until I saw something shiny under a vanilla folder.
"Hm?"
I pull it out and I freeze.
"T-The necklace… he left it here?"
I watch it spin on the small silver chain and then I place it in my palm and look at it. My mind wanders deep into everything me and him had been through and I look at the desk, the bathroom, the couch…. Everywhere because I was starting to see us.
"Seems like me and him was a dream. Even our relationship confuses me still… and it's been so long since I have seen him. Should I be nervous?... Do I tell him I have a boyfriend- of course I do… but why do I feel so calm?"
I place the necklace back and then I walk around it and I start to hear commotion. I walk towards the door and I see everyone up, shaking his hand, hugging him, laughing with him. Just like that it was like old times.
His smile was bright and true and so was his blush when Cream basically tackled him. He talks to everyone and greets the new employees and our first ever intern who was right beside Knuckles.
The loud conversations made me stand in place until he tried to walk through the crowd but he got pulled back in and I laugh to myself. They point to one side of the office and they drag him over and I smile and take quick steps to see what they were showing him.
They were showing him how they were improving with our goals the entire time he was gone and Sonic seemed to get a bit teary-eyed but Knuckles shoved him and told him to stop being a father with all of his employees… but in a way he was like a father for us too.
So many young employees coming straight from college and then sometimes from restaurants who just wants a taste of what it's like to work at a company. Sonic had provided all of us with this opportunity and it was the best one we all had.
Sonic laughs loudly again and then everyone else followed him with his laugh and soon he starts to look around and his eyes stop on mine.

My fingers grip my arm and I freeze to his gaze. He looked around my face while everyone talked and then he shuffled out of the crowd and started to walk towards me.
I notice I was really gripping my arm and I let go because of the realization of the nervous but once he got closer, he opened his arms and I look at them.
"I hope you aren't mad at me." Sonic says and I laugh loudly and he starts to laugh too. "I'd figure you would laugh if I said that. I was afraid of the outcome of coming here since I left my assistant by her lonesome."
"Shut up. I was completely fine." I say but then I start feeling excited so I jump into his arms and Sonic hugged me back. "IT's so good to see you and hear you!"
"Likewise. I missed you." Sonic says.
"Me too." I say releasing the hug and Sonic eyes were already on mine and I start clenching my fingers a bit.
"Ms. Rose didn't stress herself too much did she?" Sonic asks turning around and Knuckles was the first to appear.
"No, but she is dangerous! Did you know she stands on a pile of books to clean the windows in your office?" Knuckles was shocked and Sonic laughed.
"Yeah… I try to tell her but she told me to shut up the last time I said that was dangerous so- "
"That I did. It's not as bad as it seems, Knuckles." I tease and Knuckles jaw drops and Sonic laughs and pats my head.
"You still shouldn't do that."
"Whatever… maybe if you were here, you could have done it." I say back and Sonic laughs.
"The smart-ass comments are still here." Sonic jokes and we all laugh and then Cream points to his office.
"Well! Go to your office!" Cream starts to push him towards it and we all follow as we see our boss walk towards his office. Sonic starts to walk on his own and he took carefully steps inside and looked around it like he was remembering everything he did to get here at this moment.
Sonic stood there for a moment and then he slowly turned around to us.
"I… Thank you all for being here when I wasn't. I am so grateful. For each and every one of you… I was nervous to come back but you guys always treat me with so much respect and care. I don't deserve it but I want to express my gratitude and love for you all." Sonic says and sheds a tear bit.
"Sorry, haha. Being emotional has definitely been a new feeling for me lately." Sonic laughs and I felt my heart lighten for him.
"Ha… I think he really has changed."
"BOSS!" Knuckles cries out and he hugs Sonic and everyone else does too, while I stand behind and watch the nice moment.
Everyone loved Sonic. I think for so long Sonic was thinking that he had no one to love him but there are so many people that actually cares about him.
Maybe that smile on his face, means that he finally understands that there are so many different types of love.

I think Sonic is seeing those two right now… and he seems way happier than he was a month ago.
"Alright. Alright." I say and everyone looks at me. "We still have work to do so we should get to it. Especially Mr. Hedgehog who has the most work to do out of all of us."
"Okay! You heard the boss woman! "Knuckles yells and everyone cheers and goes back to work.
Knuckles and Cream leave too and then I turn my head to Sonic who was watching them leave and then he smiles at me.
"I hope you are excited to be back here!" I close the doors and I grab a super organized folder and I place it on his desk and he walks to his chair and sits down and sighs.
"I already sent out a welcome back email to everyone and you should go through them! They are super supportive and then on this other folder is everyone who wants to work with us. It's a lot but we can go through them slowly throughout the weeks because we aren't in a rush." I say and then he takes the folders and goes through the pages.
"Is there anything you would like me to do to assist? We can start some calls now… I could email them instead if you don't feel like talking. Anything you want!" I say and I felt good to have Sonic back here to run his business.
"How have you been?" Sonic asks and I laugh.
"I've been great."
"That's good… anything new?" Sonic asks and I tap my finger on his desk.
"Yeah. I have a boyfriend. Tai. We have been dating for almost a month." I say and Sonic smiles and nods his head.
"Ah… right. That was quicker than I expected. You happy?"
"Yeah, he is very sweet and clingy. I like that." I say as I think about Tai and then it stops as Sonic stands up.
"Happy and comfortable?" Sonic asks again and he sits on his desk and I lean up so we wouldn't be too close.
"Comfortable? Why are you asking the things you are asking, Mr. Hedgehog?" I question and Sonic laughs and shrugs his shoulders.
"Did you forget?" Sonic says and I stand there.
"Forget… what?"
Sonic laughs again and he shakes his head. "Never mind. But uh…. Thanks for helping me to move out. I never thanked you for that."
"It's fine. I know you were grateful for my perfect help." I show off and he laughs again but then he stares at me. "What?"
"Nothing! I'm just looking at you because it's been a while." He says and I roll my eyes but then he stands again.
Approaching me slowly.
"They didn't stress you out that much, did they?" Sonic asks but the way he got closer to me made me not answer his question.
I was wondering where he was going with this again.
"Sonic, what are you doing." I ask annoyed and Sonic stops walking and blushes.
"I want to know what you have been doing since I was gone. WE talked almost every day so not talking to you and now seeing you makes me wonder. Aren't you wondering about me?"
"Yeah? But why are you acting weird? Just ask me what you want to ask me." I say and then I step again and he smiles.
"First, I wanted to tell you that, I did divorce Sally and we share custody of Jules. Sally… still lives in that house which is fine. I don't really care but I am about to get a new house soon. SO, there is that."
"That's great! How is your twin?"
"Jules… he was confused at first and sad but I think he is used to now. "Sonic says and I smile lightly. "Still spoiled as ever."
"I bet." I say and then Sonic laughs and walks closer to me again.
"So… you?"
"Work has been stressful but I like that. I learned a lot. I was starting to get comfortable being the big boss." I say and Sonic smirks.
"So, you are going to take over my business?" he asks and I smile.
"I could. Mr. Hedgehog." I say and point my finger at him. "I think I have the skills now."
Sonic steps closer and my finger presses on his chest and then he leans down to me.
"You forgot everything I said, didn't you?" Sonic brings up and I felt confused but then I realize my finger was pressing on his chest.
"I… what do you mean?"
"About getting too comfortable while I was gone." He says.
It clicked for me at once.
I finally knew what he was talking about and my cheek turned light red slowly.
"There we go. You finally remember." Sonic says and then he walked closer to me. "I have might been gone for a month but my feelings are still hard in my heart about what I said a month ago. And I could understand why you forget for a moment but now that I am completely sure of myself and I have found myself again… I'm ready to get comfortable too."
He says and I started walking backwards and he followed me until my back hit the door.
"I was serious. Nothing was going to change about how I felt at that moment." He says and my lips try to move but I was too stunned that he was going to bring this up so soon.
I hadn't thought about this in so long.
Sonic touches the top of my head and then rubs his hand down to my neck and I swallow as he touches my neck with his thumb.
"Have fun with Tai while you can."
He whispered that in my ear and then let me go and walked out of his office and started to talk loudly to some co-workers.
My brain was frozen and my palms were sweaty as I still felt his hand on my neck. I touched my neck and then snapped out of it and whipped my palms on my skirt… Thinking about what he said so confidently.
"He still wants me…." I say to myself and I stare ahead at my boss laughing with his employees and then he looked down the hall one last time and I smiled.
"Like I would ever give him the chance again."

1. I wasn't rushing the plot. Amy and Tai just got into a relationship really fast. So of course, it isn't going to look. Realistic. That's just how Amy is.
2. No, Amy and Sonic did not get back together.
3. Yes, Amy does have bipolar disorder but I am not. I am not. Using her disorder based on her… personality? If that makes sense. I think mental is super important and I am not using it to make her 'quirky'…. This is coming from someone who is majoring in neuroscience psychology lol I would never do that.
